Chapter 6: The Second Encounter
Just Outside the Kaka Village, Now.
Saber couldn't believe her eyes, but she could not deny that the woman with the long, purple hair in front of her was definitely the Rider of the 5th Grail War. You cannot blame her, though, as she saw it to it personally that her enemy was vanquished by her holy blade. By her reckoning, not even a speck of the Servant should have remained after that encounter.
All this, of course, made it even more incomprehensible to the King of Knights.
"Without the Grail, she should not even be able to a manifest a physical form." She thought as she watched Rider do battle with the woman in the black hood, the creature matching the Servant's own in a spectacular display. "So why is she-?"
"Boobie lady!" The King of Knight's attention immediately shifted towards the one who stole her food who knelt close to the red-clad Oriental woman. "You're hurt real bad!"
"It's just a scratch. I'll be- nggh!"
The woman in red grunted as pain coursed through her battered frame. She gingerly brought her left hand towards her left rib, which sustained damage from a crushing kick delivered to her earlier by Rider.
"That Purple Lady hurt you, didn't she?" The thief turned to the the battle, her eyes filled with rage for one of her disposition. "I'll go help Tora kick her butt, so better get better and feed me as many meat buns as I want when we're done!"
"Tao, wait!" Before the aforementioned "Boobie Lady" could stop her, Tao rushed into the fray herself. She attempted to chase after her, but was stopped by the crippling pain at her side.
"Please don't even attempt it." Saber spoke for the first time as she walked towards the woman. "You are in no shape whatsoever to join in this fight."
"But still-"
"If you join this battle, you will only be hindering them with that injury you bear." Saber interrupted, silencing the woman in red with a tone of authority. "Forgive me if that sounds unkind, but it is the truth."
"...Very well." The woman accepted with a sullen voice. "I'll just sit right here then."
"That is good." Saber nodded with a kind smile before turning to her left, finally her attention focused the girl who had followed them. "You. With the blue hair."
"Y-yes!" The girl in question stammered at being addressed by the King of Knights.
"Tend to this woman. If it becomes to dangerous, I want you to take her and leave this place with all haste."
"O-of course!" The girl nodded, feeling all but compelled to obey Saber. That B Ranked Charisma came in handy for sure.
"In the mean time, I shall join in myself. The woman they face is no easy foe." Saber spoke as she brought Invisible Air to bear. She had begun to walk when she was stopped by the Oriental woman's plea.
"Please...protect Tao."
Though she didn't turn back, Saber smiled as she merely nodded her affirmation before running towards the battlefield.
To anyone watching the battle, it could be easily said that Torakaka was able to match Rider in speed. Each combatant moved around the battlefield like two black streaks colliding with one another, their actions too fast for the untrained eye to perceive.
However, the difference in strength was obvious.
Torakaka managed to duck a diving kick from Rider that pulverized rocky wall it collided with. The black clad kaka crouched at all fours in anticipation of her opponent's next move. Sure enough, Rider dove at her, her chained nails held in a reverse grip, with cruel intentions in mind.
Fortunately, Tora saw this coming a mile away. She sprung into action once Rider was inches away, executing a back flip kick that collided with the Gorgon's jaw. Using the opening she had created, Torakaka went on the offensive. Claws the size of scimitars extended from the sleeves and she wasted no time using them to try and slice her opponent to ribbons.
The seasoned kaka warrior quickly closed the gap, but despite what the blindfold might suggest, Rider was able to see each blow coming. As ferociously as Torakaka attacked did she gracefully bob and weave between blows. Seeing a small opening in her opponent's attack, the Gorgon brought up a nail in-between a claws gap. This stopped her opponent mid-blow and , upon taking advantage of the opening, allowed her to land a solid headbutt on Torakaka.
This caused the kaka to reel for a second, but that one second was all Rider needed to force her into the defensive.
The Gorgon's assault began anew, this time using her chains to her advantage. She launched her nails at Tora in a long-ranged barrage designed to keep her at bay. The agile kaka warrior dodged the attacks with practiced grace before diving in close and thrusting both her palms at her opponent's chest.
Unfortunately, Rider telegraphed that move perfectly. She spun on her heel to avoid the attack, allowing Tora to pass her so that her back would be left vulnerable. The purple-haired Servant flipped her nail in a reverse grip with every intention of fatally stabbing her opponent at the back.
She would've succeeded had it not been for the exuberant younger kaka joining the fray, her claws bared as she dove in. An slight, but audible gasp of pain came from Rider as her side had been gashed by the attack, though it did not rake in so deep. Tao followed it up with an uppercut, but the Servant jumped back before it could connect.
"Thank you, Tao." Torakaka, while worried for her young successor, was thankful that she came when she did. "It seems I let down my guard for a moment back there."
"No worries, mreow!" Taokaka mewled with a grin, then turned to her gaze towards Rider. "For now, lets beat up this meanie who hurt Boobie Lady! Then we can have ALL the meatbuns we want!"
Tora blinked in confusion at first, but let out a small smile at that very Tao-like answer.
"Lets." With a nod of agreement, the two kaka warriors joined forces as they leaped into action.
Meanwhile, Somewhere Nearby...
"Th A-ure is he-? The Azur-! I mus- hav- it!"
As it would have it, the creature known as Arakune was nearby at the time. Having decided to lay dormant for a bit, the presence of something that to him was similar to the Azure Grimoire in addition to some tasty kaka kittens was enough to draw him out. He was a bit away from the source, but if he slithered fast enough...
"Why, hello there."
The creature stopped in its tracks when it heard a rather effeminate voice from in front of him. He looked up to see a figure cloaked completely in black save for the bare feet. While it couldn't make out any of her features, he could immediately tell that it was female.
"What's the hurry? We should stop and talk for a while, hm?"
As she spoke, Arakune could have sworn he felt a chill in his non-existent spine. A dark aura manifested from the figure as the blob saw a distorted smile from underneath the hood.
This would be one of the rare times the abomination known as Arakune ever felt fear.
Saber had just arrive at the battle scene, ready to join the fray, when she saw that the combined efforts of both Tora and Tao were more than enough to keep Rider on her toes.
"It seems that the warriors of this era remain as fierce as the ones of old. I have underestimated them, the thief especially." The King of Kings nodded in approval, though she was ready to join in at a moment's notice. "Still, something disturbs me about Rider. I will have to keep a close eye on this fight."
As she spoke, the black and beige blurs that were the kakas were beginning to overwhelm the Gorgon. With each strike they made, Rider was forced a step back. The furious assault of the two kakas, mentor and student, were beginning to finally wear down the Servant.
"Tao!" Tora called to her younger counterpart as she executed a roundhouse kick that finally broke Rider's guard. "Now's our chance!"
Tao did well to take advantage of this opening. She dashed past Tora and launched Rider into the air with an upward kick. "Tora!"
"Right!"
Saber watched in awe as the two kakas jumped into the air and began a barrage of mid-air slashes, each of them using the cave's interior as walls they can ricochet from. She noted that each of their attacks were well-synchronized that suggested much training; whenever one finished attacking, the other would follow-up and vice-versa. Thus creating an endless assault meant to decimate an opponent.
"Aerial Dancing Edge!"
Both of them made one final lunge towards Rider, ending the attack with a diving kick that sent her hurtling towards the floor. The impact was loud and left a sizeable crater which debris emerged from.
"Woohoo! We did it, Tora!"
Tora, while weary from an extended battle with the attacker, nodded while giving Tao a smile. "You have grown seen I last saw you, little one. You have a long ways to go, but you are beginning to become the defender I know you can be."
As this happened, the two female bystanders had arrived at the scene. The red-clad one, being supported on the bluenette's shoulder, sighed in relief upon seeing that Tao was alright.
As she heard this, Saber felt a little guilty for her actions earlier. Yes, the one called Taokaka stole her food, but the knight felt as if she horribly misjudged her. She had begun to walk towards the two when she felt a chill run down her spine.
"I wouldn't celebrate just yet."
Upon hearing Saber speak did Torakaka turn her attention to the crater. Sure enough, there stood Rider; battered but not beaten.
"So she wants more, huh?!" Taokaka growled, her hair rising as she crouched on all fours ready to pounce "Bring it, Purple Lady! Tao ain't scared of you, mrow!"
"I will have to end this then." Saber with Invisible Air in hand began walking towards the fray when, to the shock of everyone else, Rider pierced her neck with one of the nails.
"What on earth-?!" The blue-haired girl muttered in disbelief.
"Eww. Tao's gonna get sick, mrow..." The aforementioned kaka grimaced
"Damn it! I was a fool!" Saber, however, knew what was coming next. "How could I have forgotten about about Rider's Noble Phantasm?!"
"GET BEHIND ME! NOW!" Upon hearing the frantic knight yell while breaking into a run, everyone who had been present felt compelled to obey as they immediately dashed for cover.
"I cannot counter with Excalibur, lest I bring the whole cave down on us!" Saber stopped directly in front of Rider, whose blood glyph had already been formed "There is only one thing I can do now. I just hope it works."
The King of Knights held her left hand in front of her and immediately began to concentrate. She had only done this once before, at the final eve of the 5th Grail War, hoping that it would work this time.
"Bellerophon!"
She was about to find out as a blinding flash of light emerged from the glyph. This searing light, vaguely in the shape of a pegasus, decimated every rock in it's path and was quickly approaching Saber.
"What are you doing?!" The bluenette shouted from her hiding spot "Get out of there!"
The Once and Future King did not move an inch as she continued to concentrate. For but a brief moment, she felt a familiar warmth envelope her hand as she brought forth her greatest defense.
"AVALON!"
The magnificent golden sheathe manifested before her in all it's splendor, hovering mid-air like a beacon of light. As it came into effect, the sheathe placed the king and all behind her into the realm of the fae where nothing, not even a star that split Heaven and Earth apart, can harm them. The pegasus passed them harmlessly, continuing it's path of destruction until it bore a hole into the mountainside.
As soon as the light faded, Saber dematerialized Avalon and began looking around for any sign of her opponent. Sure enough, Rider was nowhere to be found.
"Just like Homurahara." The knight grimaced as she desummoned Invisible Air as well, these turn of events leaving a bad taste in her mouth.
"It seems the danger has passed." Saber would turn to see Torakaka walking up to her, thoroughly impressed "I must say, that was unlike anything I have seen before."
"Yeah." The bluenette from earlier nodded "That was certainly no ordinary armagus for sure."
"It was really shiny!"
Saber could not help but chuckle at the exuberant kaka's remark. "It certainly is. By the way, you still owe me for stealing my food earlier. I will not be forgetting that any time soon."
"Tao, is that true?" The kaka cat felt a chill run down her spine as "Boobie Lady" gave her a stern expression.
"...Sorry, Boobie Lady."
"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to, and stop calling me that!" She answered back with indignation before regarding Saber. "We haven't introduced ourselves, haven't we? My name is Litchi Faye-Ling, the one in black is Torakaka, and I see you've already met Tao."
"And my name is Mai Natsume." The bluenette saw this as an opportunity to get introduced as well.
"Well met. You can call me Saber." Saber nodded before regarding that Litchi was in horrible shape from the earlier fight. "It seems your injuries are bothering you, Miss Faye-Ling. Is there a clinic nearby?"
"The village elder will allow us shelter." Tora explained as she ushered the group towards it's entrance. "She would be most thankful since you have saved the village and all."
"Yey! We're gonna see the elder!" Tao yelled happily in the background.
"You have my thanks, Torakaka." Saber nodded with a smile before staring far ahead deep in her thoughts.
"I must find a way warn Rachel." she thought resolutely "She must know that I am not the only Servant to walk the earth."
"Fufufu...so it really was her. And she's a lot stronger than last time too."
The hooded figure had been watching the fight with keen interest, even more so when that familiar knight in blue jumped in. Behind her to her right was Arakune, following the girl for reasons unknown and to her left was Rider manifesting beside her.
"I didn't expect this." As she spoke, smiling evilly before letting a girlish giggle "But now that you're here, you and I are going to have so much fun...Saber-san."
