The End From the Beginning

Fusion: Firefly/Suits

The end of the world started like this: Mike Ross got himself kidnapped. Of course, it didn't seem like a kidnapping at the time. At first, even Harvey thought that he gotten high, or had been flaky or any number of immature actions. But he wasn't at his apartment and his bike was. Then Jenny called because Mike had missed a friendly coffee date. After that, Trevor appeared in the ten steps between the law office and Ray's waiting open door. Trevor was white-faced and scared. He shoved a manila envelope into Harvey's hands and disappeared into the New York crowds.

The envelope was from Mike. The first note read, 'in the event of my death or disappearance.' Typical Mike dramatics, except that Mike had been missing for three months. The rest of the papers didn't seem to connect to any one thing as it detailed land transactions from all over the world and included newspaper clippings with certain clues highlighted in a typical Mike manner. Harvey tried to piece together whatever it was that Mike was trying to tell him. He was unsuccessful. His smarts –top five percent of his graduating class at Harvard- couldn't compare to Mike's genius. He knew that it had to do with a small company named 'Blue Sun,' anything more was too cryptic for Harvey.

Finally, a letter arrived at the office. Donna recognized the handwriting immediately and brought it to his attention. Together, they read the gibberish, the half-finished quotes and the remembrances of events that never happened. It was a code and Mike's message was in the parts of the quotes that he hadn't written: 'They're hurting us. Help me.' He was kind enough to include an address. Harvey and Donna pulled strings and called in favors. They ran into a lot of roadblocks and Harvey even got arrested once.

Jessica was furious and threatened to fire him again if he didn't give up his stupid quest to find out what happened to his missing associate. Most of the time, Harvey wasn't sure why he was risking so much for a young man that he had barely known for a year. Mike's problems were not Harvey's and Harvey had a promising career ahead of him if he didn't screw it up. Then the world exploded into a civil war and no one really cared enough about legality to want lawyers.

Harvey and Donna didn't stop though and with the war, no one was following their movements. In the end, they found Mike with a lot of money and a little luck. Then it took a double dose of both to extradite Mike from the 'scientific study.'

Mike was a mess. If there was a fine line between genius and insanity, the doctors had punted Mike off the cliff. Harvey and Donna hid Mike for as long as they dared. Then they heard that the civil war had destroyed Earth's ecosystem. The humans were leaving. Harvey went looking for a private spaceship to join the crew.

He found Serenity. He wasn't surprised that Jessica was the second-in-command. He wasn't even surprised at the gun strapped to her hip and her skill with it. No, Harvey was surprised that she was married –again- and this time to a funny pilot that played with dinosaur toys.

That was how Harvey decided that it was the end of the world as he knew it.
