Overfox.

Chapter IX.

With Miraak. Inn.

Dragon Priest rose up in his room in the inn. He fell asleep behind the table, trying to understand what kind of changes did the dragon blood did to his organism and why they are so similar to that of Natsu's.

Also he needed to check his finances.

Finances were in bad shape, after all the hits they had taken. House was already very expensive and problematic to build, but gaining land… Sometimes he was greatly tempted to brainwash all, who will be somehow connected in building of his house and save a lot of money and nerves, but…

In a society, filled with mages something like this without a doubt will gain attention of the Council. And something like that he didn't need. So Miraak gritted his teeth, Miraak prayed and also remembered an old mantra of all dark agents, who didn't manage to became Dark Lord.

It stated: "Never kill idiots in public places." And Naruto followed said rule. Of course, as Dark Lord he can do all that he wanted, but he wasn't in his dimension and in his own home. And he wasn't foolish enough to be the bane of place, where he is about to live. And Relax. Amd do a lot of stuff.

By the way about home….

"Gnarl? Can you hear me?"

"Loud and clear, Sire. What do you wish?"

Report how is it going on your end?"

Your brides oversee the work of your Minions, while you are away, Sire. Production of the different weapons and tools is going as planned all steel market is already ours. Our assets are growing because of this, so we managed to get some… things, to help us expand the width of your territories, my lord."

"During one of such widening we managed to find a tribe of black goblins, so you have a new race under your command. If we manage to find some other races… we may even start thinking about new Dark Crusade, Sire!"

"That's the spirit, Gnarl. We will use the portals to invade the other dimensions and keep the Netherworld safe and secret. We will not want the repeat of the Netherghouls' incident, isn't it?"

"B-b-but of course no. Sire." Unlike his Overlord, Gnarl remembered all pain in the ass that he suffered during the Golden Purge and Time of Turmoil, or Times-Without-Lord. While Netherghouls and other later candidates for the title, battled for supremacy.

He saw enough Civil Wars of Darkness, when Minions fought each other, when candidate had slain each other and when they were banished from the depths where Darkness ruled supreme, by the rule stated by Creator-of-All.

What really destroyed him morally though, was that he cannot plot against his Master. His work without him will crumble and burry the Netherworld under it. So Minion Master was forced to gulp his pride and do what is told.

Not that he had a good chance, anyway… And at least this Lord, unlike previous once, actually plotted, if his position wasn't at stake, Gnarl would have cried in happiness.

Naruto once again returned to his problems in the Earthland. All in all, money decided everything, so he walked to the guild, in hopes of getting the job for himself…

Nothing happened to the guild building during the night, which, knowing the characteristics of the guild's members was very impressive. However, Miraak really wanted to taste Mira's cooking and while the order prepared on mysterious kitchen of the guild, he talked to the pretty barmaiden.

Unfortunately her tale stated that C rank, which he officially bought for himself, was rather… unprofitable. More than 40 thousands for a contract is a great luck for a mage of such rank. Looking at his grumpy face, or rather mask, Mira told him about another variant. Team up with more high ranked mage.

According to Mira all newbies are attached to someone powerful wizards while they rank-up. Well, or somebody can just get the task by accident.

Ten minutes later.

Gray decided to get some work done. Since Firebreath wasn't in guild and there was nobody else to fight with… he was basically bored. But near the board he was really disappointed.

"Hey, Mira? Where is that order for dealing with the Thief Guild?" asked he loudly.

"Hm, it was there from the morning."

"Maybe Miraak took it, he was near the board half an hour ago." said Wakaba from the hall.

Now Mira was a bit worried, that stranger, Miraak, made a deep impression on her. She would be really worried if something happened to him, so… "Gray, can you please take care about this? Follow him and complete the mission. Either way he will need to deal with whole bureaucracy and 'low experience' bullshit and without some senior members there will be none to present the guild."

Mira may have said all this, but in reality she just wished Miraak out of the harm's way, even if she herself cannot explain why. She met the strange mage only yesterday and she already carried deep about him. Every thought about him resonated deep inside her being.

What Mira didn't know was the fact that her suppressed Satan Soul can feel the magic of Darkness emitted by Miraak. That and also the presence of a Dark Lord, was enough for Mira's magic to re-awaken.

Her feelings may have started as simple interest, but boiled by the Satan Soul… It was very powerful and explosive cocktail.

Meanwhile, Gray decided to not argue with the barmaiden and do just as she said. He went in direction of the railway station. However, Miraak was already half the way to the point of his destination. Saulsberry town.

Saulsberry town.

Here Miraak decided to check, if his old skills, which he got during his stay in Riften, were still as sharp as ever. He decided to work secretly.

To take care of all thieves at once he needed information. So, changing his image with illusion he walked the dark streets as another member of rich and spoiled brat's society, who seeks some adrenalin and different kind of pleasure.

Instantly, some sexy woman spotted him, judging by amount of pheromones, filtered by his metabolism, she was specialized either in in that type of magic or in alchemy. Both weren't a threat for him.

He played along, making her believe that he is under her control.

Sudden hit in the head wasn't a surprise for him, so he was a bit troubled, how to fell so he will not be suspected by the two.

"Heh, another rich fool." heard he a male voice above. "Now where are your pockets… ugh."

Woman meanwhile decided to light a cigarette. Dark Guild heard from their sources that a mage from the Fairy Tail came to the town. But bribery still was giving them protection from more than half of the town's guard. And blackmail shut up the rest.

When her partner started to wheeze, she turned to see what happened.

Cigarette fell on the ground.

In front of her stood a mage. Dark robes ornamented with gold and scales covered his body. Golden mask under hood hid his face. In his iron grip her male partner tried to release himself. With loud snapping sound, his head fell forward, completely limp.

Body fell on the stones of the streets. She slowly raised her eyes to see his… and saw only darkness in eyelashes of the mask. At this moment she understood how deep in the shit she got herself.

"Do you want to live?" asked emotionless voice from behind the mask. She nodded.

"Good, then you better start working with your tongue." At this moment, woman thought that this monster was without a doubt still high on pheromones. It was enough for her to lose consciousness.

Miraak, meanwhile, was looking at the body of the female magician and thought that, perhaps he was a bit too… scary. Looks like the people of this world, no matter how crazy it was, had the same reaction to his power of the Dark Lord as denizens of the other worlds did.

Maybe it was natural. When you look in the darkness it looks back. Fear before it was imprinted deep inside the souls of the living beings. Fear that something was lurking in the dark. He was darkness itself and the one, who lurks inside of it. Two their greatest fears combined.

But he will think about philosophical aspect later, at the moment… He quickly returned the female mage to her senses and get all the information he needed from her skull. She gave him all she knew about their guild.

He never understood why so many dark guilds had this overzealous desire to hide themselves under the earth. They never understood that when true dark mage comes for them that were just easing his task for their elimination.

First two died with their necks snapped. Third one had his heart pierced with demonic sword that he got from previous Miraak. Tentacle like sword elongated, when he swung it to clear it from blood and cleaved the mage, who was hiding behind the corner, in half.

"Thanks." Said Miraak. The eyes in the sword's guard blinked. Most of the guild members were in town, working their fee, but their master was here. And Miraak wanted to meet this man.

When he entered the thief's cabinet he started to blabber about something. Like, how he will kill him painless if he will just stay where he is.

Miraak did as he was asked… while his Target Spell was roasting the dark guild's master. Miraak felt something akin to a… disappointment. He was expecting much more from somebody like this mage, who hid from the law for so long and nearly took control over entire town.

However, disappointment disappeared when he found the large amount of traps located in one place, judging by large lacrima crystals, something like that can wound even the mage of S rang. While he was roaming inside the treasury, other members of the guild were slowly returning to the hideout, but with the system of traps under his direct control, he easily caught all of the members alive.

Shackles he found in the dungeons came really in handy. He had even some strange form of satisfaction while he was placing them on the members of the dark guild. He always hated slavers.

Must be because of the time he was something equal to the slave in all, but name, while he was still in Konoha.

According to the information he had found when he broke the leader of the guild, such a small organization surprisingly had a lot of money. Thirty-five million in different vaults, known only to the leader.

Magical books with knowledge of fire, air, water, shadow and ritual magic. The most interesting information about this guildmaster was the fact that nobody knew about him, he was skilled enough to hide himself for such a long time and never been caught or taken to custody.

Therefore, Miraak could easily dispose of him, by consuming his gift for Shadow magic and knowledge of said magic school. It would easily compensate the loss of the money. Unfortunately, all that he managed to receive were shards of the dark guildmaster's talent.

The Take-Over magic had its limitations as it seemed. In the papers of the thieves he also found a lot about the head of the towns guard. It looked like he was really into the expensive restaurants and beautiful ladies. Unfortunately, he hadn't enough money to support all his hobbies.

That's where the 'wise townsfolk' came to picture, realizing, that the life of those, who protect them must be as easy as possible, they loaded a lot of money to the head of the town's guard… for some small favors.

With quick understanding that after everything will become revealed something like this will not help him in the future, Miraak decided to use it for short-term gain. He took the feather and putting it in the link started to write:

"To esteemed Magic Council, from the mage Miraak of the Fairy Tail Guild…"

Next day, when Gray stepped from the train to the station, he found Miraak on it with different kind of furniture nearby.

"Gray!" happily exclaimed he. "And here I was looking for someone, who can help me get my trophies to my new house."

Gray gulped loudly. Miraak was already holding him by his shoulders and he felt himself like Ezra was nearby. So he did what he always did in said situation.

He carried the luggage.

But getting out of town wasn't as easy as getting inside of it Rune Knights has already closed all gates and no kind of transport can get out of the town. What infuriated him even more was the fact that according to the law, he can get only a quarter of the bandits' possession. Of course, nobody will look into his magical pocket, but all luggage will be catalogued on the exit.

However, this time he managed to get past the guards, since everyone, who should have been cataloging the treasures were either too busy or in shackles after countless arrests among the towns officials, who were charged with bribery, Rune Knights decided to leave the Fairy Tail mage with several souvenirs.

Well, everything was good until they entered the forest…

"What do you mean, you don't know where we are?" asked Miraak, looking at Grey, who continued to carry the luggage on the cart. "Through this forest you went on countless missions, am I right?"

"I was busy with this fucking curt and you were looking at the road!" answered Gray.

"I suffer from the hard case of topographical cretinism!"

"How should I know that you have the same problem as Natsu?" asked Gray.

"Well, no matter. We will lose only one day, we have enough food, so we don't care about hunting. We will walk around and get somewhere." said Miraak.

"It's not this. If my calculations are right, today, Ezra will come back to the guild." said Gray.

Maybe Gray wanted to tell something else, but at this moment they finally reached something that can be called a road. To Miraak's pleasure on the road was marching Lucy and near her were Natsu and Happy.

"You!" synchronized scream came from the two throats. Forgetting about all the things that happened before, Gray and Natsu instantly got into the heating argument, while Happy was flying around and getting more fuel into it.

Meanwhile Lucy was just standing somewhere aside with a boring look that worsened with each passing second. Miraak raised a brow. Beautiful girl is bored, while he is around? Never!

"I must admit, our meeting was rather surprising, but nonetheless pleasant. How are you doing, Lucy?"

"Good to see you, Miraak." sadly smiled the blonde girl.

"So are we, but why so sad?"

"Well we did our job, but didn't take the pay…"

"The client denied you payment? Strange…"

"No, no! Well, it is rather long and complicated story… So I will start from the beginning." And Lucy started to tell the tale of her first task.

"I see…" said Miraak scratching his mask. "I cannot even tell should I envy Natsu or be sympathized in this particular case."

"What do you mean?" narrowed her eyes blonde summoner.

"Get into the house of beautiful maiden, while she was in the shower…" Lucy was red as tomato and already started to take air in her lungs, to tell him everything that she thinks of him. "… such uncaring for his own life is worthy of the true paladin! Such selfless and glorious deed! By the way, what happened after?"

"Well…" Lucy's cheeks became red. "I kicked him several times… in the head."

"Poor thing… does your leg hurt?" seriously, somebody thought that he would feel even a hint of compassion for Natsu?

"A bit."

"Hey sweet couple… What are you talking about?" at this moment Miraak understood that he wasn't the cat person. And suddenly he really was for their use in cuisine.

Blue suicide addict, not even comprehending how dangerous his future life will be, continued to embarrass Lucy, who completely shut up in herself. With his mood somewhere on the mark "die everything that is in my sight", with evil smile under his mask Miraak turned to the arguing pair of Gray and Natsu.

"Gray weren't we in a hurry? You have mentioned something about Erza?" mention of said sorceress caused nearly magical effect on two mages, they instantly hugged and started to brag about peace and friendship.

"Erza? You mean THE Erza?" instantly returned to her happy mood Lucy.

"Terror!"

"Dread!"

"Scary monster!"

Natsu, Gray and Happy instantly ranted their usual reactions when it came to Erza. According to them Erza is a scary, muscular, two meters high woman of a monster, with hair as red as blood and temper of a furious dragon.

Mischievous mind of a prankster instantly formulated a plan to get his revenge on Happy. Unfortunately, Gray and Natsu will also receive their share of beatings, but they aren't getting it for the first time, so everything will be okay.

Naruto laughed, silently. At least for now. But he still looked creepy from the outside look.

"Miraak is scaaary." Muttered Happy, but he was too silent for others to hear and nobody actually listened, since the cat said it more on a reflex, sensing a familiar sense of dread, that came when someone dangerous, like Erza was nearby.

Suddenly a sandstorm started and disappeared as suddenly. Alongside Happy. Their group spread, trying to find the cat.

Naruto had found him first. He was already strapped to the stake, with wood under him, already prepared to be turned into fried meat.

Naruto raised his brow. Looks like the hunger reveals the worst in these insane mages. Seconds later, after knocking them off, Naruto looked at the cat with really serious gaze. Under it, blue cat instantly tried to assure the dragon priest that he is very useful and also is his greatest friend.

Naruto rubbed his mask. He never remembered being a friend to this cat, but he wasn't so insane to finish what all these men started.

"Don't worry hallucination, I'm not as mad or hungry to frying something like you. At least now."

Meanwhile other fairies appeared on the field and Miraak instantly was blamed for not letting them to deal with the bad mages. Fortunately, he was comforted by Lucy. Seconds later he found himself in her personal space. Happy once again tried to comment, but under the literally flaming gaze of the dragon priest, he restrained himself.

Ten minutes later they found out that all their captives were dead. After that, Lucy lost the last shreds of her romantic mode and Naruto get out all his steam whipping Natsu and Gray, while they were pulling the cart with his trophies.

Since being Overlord requires perfect skills with whip, no marks were left to brag about this incident.

Meanwhile, in the guild.

Makarov sat on the bar stand. Despite whatever he said about guild's rules and spirit, he was always worrying about his brats. But right now he was thinking about this new one, Miraak. Never once he lifted his mask during the talk.

Looks like they had a new lover of silence and secrets, as if Mystogan alone wasn't enough.

At this moment one of the mages entered the guild, carrying the mail and the newspapers.

"Okay what do we have here, bills, bills, more bills, hm… newspaper, I will read the anecdotes later… what's this?" after the last words Makarov's hands started to shake and his eyes became teary.

"Master Makarov, is everything alright?" asked worried Mira.

"It's Miraak, Mira…"

"Miraak? What's with him?" asked a worried Mira.

"He fulfilled the mission. Without breaking even a single chair… And I received a congratulation letter for the member of our guild…. I! Received! A congratulation letter, from the Council, because of the action of one of my brats! This is the happiest day in my life!" cried old guildmaster.

Sometime later.

"Miraaaaa, beeeer." Moaned Natsu.

"Make it double." Said Gray, taking a seat near Natsu, being in the same condition that he was.

"Guys weren't you with Miraak and Lucy?" asked Mira.

"Miraak forced us to carry his trophies…" managed to say Gray.

"And he carried Lucy to her home…" mumbled Natsu.

"Really?" asked Mira with the same dangerous intonation, that made Elfman sweat heavily.

"Only because you made her angry enough to hit you." Said Gray, being too tired to notice the danger they were in. "And she had wounded her leg."

"Oh really? Then it's okay." Said Mira, instantly calming herself. Other members of the guild breathed out, realizing that Mira will not explode and they will live a bit longer.

"What's up, guys?" familiar voice of the masked mage filled the air.

Mira instantly turned in his way, smiling brightly, however… Loud crash made everyone jump on their seats. Miraak turned to see another visitor behind him. Fiery red hair moved from the wind, large horn covered by gemstones and gold gave a surreal appearance to the beautiful red-haired girl clad in armor.

"Hm… Now I see what Minato saw in redheads." Thought Naruto.

AN: Yes, I'm still alive as is this fic. There will be some news that I must inform you about. First of all, making chapter 10k words long is too long and takes a lot of concentration, so chapters will be only 5k words. Hopefully, I will manage to increase the number of the posted chapters. Anyway, sorry for the delay and Happy New Year.
