Author's note: Hello, everyone! I know it's been forever since I've written anything and I want to apologize for leaving you all hanging. I've just lost my inspiration for this story and for writing altogether. However, recently, I've been getting the itch again. I have really gotten into K-pop (look it up, you won't regret it) and I have a lot of ideas for stories involving the group EXO (if you're not already listening to their music, you should check it out). I have posted the first chapter of my EXO story. Please, please, give it a shot, you might enjoy it even if you're not into k-pop. In addition, I've been feeling guilty that I never revealed to you what happened between Clary and Jace and I left you guessing. For that I apologize again. So, if you're curious, keep reading...
Clary slowly opened her eyes and hissed slightly at the strong sunlight that was touching her face. She turned her back to the tall bright window and crashed into a hard, toned chest. She looked up to see Jace's angelic face sleeping peacefully. Allowing herself to relish in the moment, she placed her ear to his heart, listening to it beating. Jace's arm wrapped around her and she could sense he was waking up. That was when she felt herself grow anxious and panicked. Memories of the night before began to flood her mind, and she chastised herself for having been so gullible. Jace had played his mind games on her like always, and she fell right into his trap. She bolted out of bed, frantically searching for what was left of her clothes, which was only her pants. She quickly pulled them on and grabbed one of Jace's t-shirts, as she started towards the door.
"I should've known you would do this." Jace whispered groggily as Clary's hand froze on the doorknob. "You had your fun and now you're leaving. Like you always do." he growled, getting out of bed and approaching her, his imposing stature towering over Clary. She looked up at him with big glassy eyes. "Stop it, Jace. Just.. just let me go." she whimpered, pulling at the door, which Jace had blocked with his hand. "No. You are not leaving until we are settling this once and for all like adults." he barked, making her whince.
"Jace, I'm sorry for this." she muttered, looking straight at the door, her face set in stone.
"Sorry for wha-" but Jace didn't get to finish his thought as Clary's fist collided with his jaw, making him spring backwards into the opposite wall, giving Clary time to run down the hall exactly into Magnus and Alec, knocking them over like bowling pins.
"My God, Clarissa, this shirt is vintage!" Magnus shrieked quickly scurrying on his feet, patting all over his clothes to remove any dust. "I'm sorry, I have to go, I have to-" but Jace had grabbed her and flung her over his shoulder, carrying her to his throne room. "Magnus, please incapacitate our dear Clarissa over here, I don't want to have to snap her neck." Jace growled, walking slowly, with Magnus and Alec on his trail. Clary was clawing at him and hissing, but to no avail. A determined Jace was an unstoppable one.
"Are we being part of your foreplay? Finally taking up my offer?" Magnus chimed, the tips of his fingers surrounded by blue mist as he made Clary fall into deep slumber, not before swearing to kill them one by one for what they were doing to her.
"Jace, seriously, what is going on?" Alec asked, watching Jace chain Clary to a chair, a look of concentration on his face. "You're not... killing her, right?" he hesitantly asked, casting a worried glance at Isabelle who had just come in, alarmed by the sudden ruckus.
"Clary! What the hell is going on? Let her go!" she shrieked, launching herself at Jace but having been held back by her brother just in time. Jace growled and flashed his red eyes. "Clary is going to finally tell us why she left me 900 years ago, and why she keeps blaiming me." he announced, sitting down. "We just have to wait for her to wake up." Alec and Isabelle were staring with their mouths hanging open. They had been waiting to hear that story for so long they were almost thankful for Jace being a brute and manhandling Clary.
Magnus clapped cheerfully. "Finally! I should've worn something better for this spectacular occassion. Marvellous! This calls for a celebration!" he sang as he made food and drinks appear out of thin air. "Count on Magnus to make the best out of a hostage situation." Alec muttered, smilling. "This is hardly a hostage situation, dear, we're family." Magnus stated, while meticulously eating grapes. "Time to wake up our Sleeping Beauty." he said, snapping his fingers.
Clary shifted in her seat, coming to her senses and trying to break the chains around her. "It's pointless, they've been jinxed by Magnus." Jace mumbled, sitting in a chair in front of her, as the other kept their distance, letting them sort their differences, but being ready to intervene if the situation grew out of control. "What is the meaning of this, Jace?" Clary asked, her chest heaving, fuming with anger.
"It was the only way I could make you talk." he whispered, trying to reach past her hard exterior.
"You realise I could sit in this chair for days without uttering a word."
"I do, but I also realise that you are aware that we can't afford to waste precious time. So we might as well get it over with."
"Couldn't agree more. Release me." she growled, flashing her red eyes at him and leaning forward in a menacing way.
Jace remained calm and stoic, his face betraying no emotion. "No. You will tell your side of the story first, then I will tell mine. Stop being unreasonable, Clarissa, I am trying to reach you! I am actually trying! Stop being so fucking cold all the time!" he yelled, having lost his previous controlled demeanor. Clary sighed and fixed her eyes on the wall. "Fine." and she began telling her story.
It was the day you had left to handle a problem with some rogue wolves. You said you would be back in two days tops. So I tried to occupy my time with whatever meaningless activities. I was out in the woods running at night when suddenly the sky turned blood-red and the trees around me caught fire. I was coughing uncontrollably, and felt as if I was going to faint, which was unusual because I didn't need oxygen to breathe. I tried to run back to the house but I kept ending back in the same place as if I was caught in some sort of maze. Then I began to hear voices around me, indeciphrable at first, but they grew clearer and clearer, as if they were inside my head. I fell to my knees and clutched my head in my hands, begging for everything to stop. I was then enveloped in a black fog which took the shape of an enourmous hand and lifted me from the ground, while squeezing the life out of me. When I looked down I saw more than a dozen witches wrapped up in black cloaks, whispering Latin words, targeting me.
I asked them how they had found me because you and I were both under Magnus' protection spell and we couldn't be tracked. Therefore, someone could only find us if they knew our location from someone else. I couldn't believe my ears when one of them told me: "You can thank your husband for this".Luckily for me, that giant hand had lifted me close enough to be able to rip off several tree branches and throw them at the witches' hearts. Their lives must have been connected to each other by some sort of spell, because when I hit one, all of them fell to the ground, motionless, dead. I ran back to the house and waited for you. I didn't believe her, I couldn't believe that you had betrayed me. But when you didn't show up after three days of waiting, it had become clear that it had indeed been you. So, I left and never looked back.
Clary didn't even realise that she had begun crying halfway through her story as Jace stared at her with big eyes, not even breathing. He lowered his face in his palms, muttering: "I can't believe this." hegot up from his chair and threw it against the wall, rendering it to bits and pieces.
"It is the truth! I have no reason to lie to you!" Clary yelled back at him, tears streaming down her face. Jace launched himself at her and broke off the chains, lifting her in his arms, holding on to her for dear life. "Clary, Clary, Clary..." he kept whispering, his face burried in her hair. "I am so sorry, baby, I am so sorry" he apologized to her a thousand times, leaving Clary and the others confused. They were both kneeling on the ground in each other's arms, while Magnus, Alec and Isabelle held their breaths. Jace told his story quickly and in a hush.
"When I got there, there were no rogue werewolves. It was a trap. I was ambushed by a bunch of witches who nearly killed me as well. And when I asked them how they had found me, they told me You can thank you wife. And, like a fool, I believed them! Because I knew you were the only person who was aware of my whereabouts. So, after I killed them, I ran. And I never looked for you. And now I realise that the witches had been plotting against us for the last thousand years, and we let them win. We let them tear us apart. "
And now he was crying, one of the most powerful creatures in the world was breaking apart in the arms of the woman that he had loved since forever, and whom he had stayed apart from because of his ego and pride. "I am so sorry, Clary, please forgive me. If only I had come back for you.. you believed in me and I didn't believe in you. And now I realise that you would have never betrayed me. I am an idiot. I don't deserve you, I never did. But... I still love you. I never stopped loving you. You are and always will be my everything." he rambled on, cupping Clary's face in his hands as they both cried out their feelings that they had kept bottled up for so many years.
Clary was speechless, she didn't know what to say, what to do and she didn't know how to feel. Jace loved her, and he didn't betray her. But he didn't trust her, and sh never gave him any reason not to. Still, she had given up on him rather quickly as well. She felt relieved, relieved that her feelings had never been one-sided, relieved that Jace was pouring out his heart in front of her, but also angry at those witches for ruining their relationship and their lives. They were going to pay.
"Jace?" she sniffled, taking his hand.
"Yes?"
"Let's kill them all and then get married again." she whispered, crashing her lips to his in an earth-shaterring, breathtaking soulwrenching kiss.
"Isabelle, we need wedding magazines!" Magnus chimed. "I can't believe you put me through this shit for nothing." he muttered, while a smile played at the corner of his lips.
