Chapter 12

"Bub? You have an answer for us? I don't have all day," said Logan which made Marie look at him, a smile on her face.

"Thank you," said Marie as she looked at Charles again. "For everything."

Charles smiled at her as she ran over to Steve's shield, picked it up before running over to Natasha, Clint and Steve. The X-Men watched Marie gently give Steve his shield back before she placed her hand on Natasha's shoulder, making the blood stop flowing and Natasha's concussion dissapear. She did the same to Clint and Steve, healing them as well before smiling at them all.

2014, New York

The wind blew through her hair as she looked out over the city from the balcony of Stark Tower. She was wearing a purple suit with her two machetes hanging from her belt. Her black, protective mask was in her hands.

It still hurt, her heart. She knew that she'd never get the same loving look from Erik ever again or that loving touch on her cheek that she adored so much. And it all hurt. She had been in love with him. And he had loved her back. But she hadn't been able to love him anymore. He had changed too much and she was not a villain.

For the past year, Marie had slowly started to build up a good reputation. She had, just like Tony had told her to, started out slowly by simply watching over the streets of New York at night. She never used her real name anymore since it still had the bad reputation from her dark days. She had dyed her hair a golden blonde color and cut it shorter so that she could be able to show her face outside without being feared.

The papers called her the Watcher.

The doors to the balcony slid open and Tony walked outside, holding two glasses of wine in his hands and a newspaper tucked under his arm.

"I see you've been busy again," said Tony as he handed Marie a glass of wine.

She turned to face him, one eyebrow raised as Tony unfolded the newspaper, using only one hand, and showing her the article.

"You reached the front page," said Tony, taking a sip of his wine as Marie took a hold of the newspaper.

"Midnight bank robbery stopped by the Watcher."

"The robbers were stupid," said Marie. "Hadn't even thought the robbery through."

"You still stopped them. Something the police couldn't do," said Tony before taking another sip of his wine.

"Do you think it's worth it?" asked Marie before looking out over the city again.

"What do you mean?"

"All of this. I mean, I could just join SHIELD like Fury wants me to," said Marie, her eyes looking down at her glass of wine.

"You're a part of our team now, Marie. There's no reason for you to join SHIELD. Besides, you're doing fine. Maybe some of your fighting techniques could be enhanced, but otherwise you're doing fine," said Tony, a serious yet amused look on his face.

"Maybe," said Marie before Tony turned her to face him, accidentally making the newspaper fall down from the balcony which the both of them didn't even notice.

"A toast," said Tony, wanting to say something more to make her feel better but failing and improvising instead. He lifted his glass, which made Marie smile a soft smile at him as she did the same. "To you and capsicle."

Marie blushed and Tony simply chuckled before Tony touched Marie's glass with his own. He chugged it all down at once which resulted in Marie shaking her head at him and smiling even wider.

He simply winked at her.

Well… that's it, I suppose… It's not my very best story, I admit, but I'm still proud of finishing it! Usually I come up with an idea and then never finish it. But I did this time, even though it's not the best. :/ I'm happy with this chapter though. It's a cute ending yet a bit sad as well. I don't think Marie's ever going to forget Erik, though. He's always going to be in her heart, but she couldn't stay with him since he now, officially, is a villain and I really don't see Marie being one even though she's done some bad stuff in her life.

What did you guys think? :) Did you like the ending? Would you have done it differently? I love hearing those reviews, really I do. As long as they're not mean. :P

Bye, guys! Thanks for reading this! :3
