So, I typed the majority of this on my phone at 3am... I have no idea what spawned it, besides one of the coolest scenes in movie history. If you know what movie this (sort of) parodies, you win at life!

I know I've been slacking on Mental Edness... I'm hoping that this motivates me to quit just reviewing, and get back to writing!

Enjoy!

EDball

(A One-Shot)

The woods were unusually quiet for this time of day. Only the soft pitter-patter of compressed air in the distance. No birds, or other woodland creatures made any noise.

The midday sun shone down through the tree tops which bathed the grass below in rays of light.

A bush rattled, and a short boy stepped past it, with an odd looking rifle in his hands.

The rifle in question? Why, a paintball gun, of course.

Kevin's dad had surprised him with an assortment of paintball gear for his birthday, and he had invited everyone to come play for once. It was probably less out of the kindness of his heart, and more to do with joyfully shooting everyone. They went to the woods behind the cul-de-sac and split into various teams.

The boy to come out of the shrubbery, Eddy, was dressed in what appeared to be a park rangers uniform. It consisted of a tan vest over a light gray short-sleeved shirt, gray khaki shorts, and it was completed with what could only be described as an Australian-styled hunting hat (curved up on one side, and flat all-around the rest). He had insisted that he didn't need any 'sissy protection' when they tried to give him gear. He also claimed that his brother had shown him 'how to be a real man and hunt prey'. He had managed to lose track of both Ed and Double D in the first ten minutes of the game, and here it had been almost an hour.

Hearing some movement, he peeked around the tree to notice a very familiar redhead.

Lee Kanker was dressed in tactical gear. Lots of black straps velcroed in place kept plastic pieces of armor against her arms, legs, and chest. A black facemask adorned her head, but was not pulled down over her face yet. It looked to be tangled up in her rusty red curls.

Eddy took off his hat and placed it on a stump as a potential decoy, then backed up with caution, with a rifle pointed towards her. His heart beat rapidly, and his adrenaline was off the charts. He studied the young girl carefully.

Lee's rifle was slung carelessly over her shoulder, and she looked very non-threatening for once. Almost, almost cute (if she wasn't evil, of course). 'Which she is!' he mentally reminded himself. She appeared to be looking everywhere but where Eddy was.

The boy's face broke into a wide grin, she was done for. Completely at his mercy! The thought of destroying this helpless girl after all the years of torment was too good to pass up, and his wide grin became slightly manic. He was going to savor this...

A noise reluctantly drew his attention away from his prey. Glancing to his left, Eddy saw an all too-familiar face pop out of the brush and his hope sank.

Even though she was in full tactical gear as well, the blue hair gave away the identity of Marie Kanker. Her rifle trained on the short boy, she managed a small wave and a devilish grin.

Eddy was mentally calculating if he still had a chance when a throat was cleared behind him.

He turned his head away from Marie, and past Lee, to notice the missing sister from their group, May. Her straight blonde hair swayed in the breeze as she blew a kiss to Eddy, and made sure her rifle was aiming straight at the boy.

He cursed his luck as he turned back to the ringleader, who had now lazily pulled her own gun and trained it on him with a small smile."Clever girl..." Were the last words he said before the three females accosted him with paint.
