Summary: Inuyasha is a business man with no desire to run the family business, known for his mean streak and sour attitude. Inuyasha becomes the object of many people's hatred. Kagome is a mother of two, doing everything she can to give her children a better life. But when Inuyasha suffers an accident and loses all memory of the last ten years, can Kagome show him what love is or will Inuyasha's past ruin a second chance he was given at life?

.xx.

Inuyasha entered his condo after leaving the club and ditching his friends. He felt bad, but he really didn't want to be there after Kagome attempted to kiss him. He knew it would be a mistake; she wasn't thinking of him, and he barely knew her. Hell, he barely knew himself at this point in his life. He walked into the kitchen and grabbed himself a beer from the fridge, "Damn, last one. I'll get more tomorrow." He popped open the beer and took a massive gulp. He stared around at all the paintings in his condo, recognizing only the one he had done of Kikyo. Even though he had been here earlier today, it was still strange being in a place he barely knew. He sat in front of the easel holding Kikyo's painting, and felt a deep sorrow rise within him. Tears began to stream down, and his condo filled with screams of anguish, as the memories of that fateful night filled his mind.

"Kikyo!" He screamed at the painting throwing his beer at the wall, sending shards of glass flying in all directions on impact. Inuyasha balled his hands into fist, and stood from the stool. He began furiously punching the wall in his anger, putting several holes into the wall until he reached the bricks behind it. Hitting the bricks only fueled his anger, and he kept pounding away, the sound of his flesh hitting the hard material filling the room. Suddenly, there was a loud crack, and Inuyasha howled in pain.

He pulled his hand from the wall, and looked at it with a look of surprise. He had completely destroyed his right hand. Blood covered most of his right hand and it was obvious he had broken three of his knuckles. He held his right hand up with his left, pain starting to shoot throughout his arm. He fell back against the wall, blood dripping off his hand. You could hear the blood droplets hit the hardwood floors. The anger he felt hadn't gone away, but he had it under control for the time being.

"I miss you, Kikyo. I wish you were here with me now. None of this makes any sense and I feel like I don't really know the others anymore." He tried to move his fingers but sharp pains shot out every time he tried.

A light knock sounded at the door, "Inuyasha, open the door." Miroku said softly through the door. "I know you're in there." The door knob turned slowly, and Miroku pushed the door in slightly.

"Leave, Miroku." Inuyasha said sternly. Miroku seemed unfazed by Inuyasha's words, and stepped into the condo regardless of Inuyasha's tone. "You don't listen, do you?"

"Not really, but then again. I never really have." He shut the door and flipped on the lights. He quickly spotted Inuyasha sitting against the wall, holding his bloody and broken hand. The wall above him was completely destroyed, and blood splotches lined the edges of the holes. "What the fuck, Inuyasha?" He knelt down beside his friend and looked over his hand. "What the fuck did you do?" Miroku reached for Inuyasha's hand, but he moved it out of reach.

"A demolition job. I've been thinking about redoing this wall anyway." Inuyasha chuckled to himself. "I couldn't find the sledge hammer though." He laughed again but flinched when he set his down on the floor.

"Your hand is broken, dumbass. We need to get you to the hospital. You need stitches." Miroku stood up, and pulled Inuyasha up with him by the forearm. "Come on. Let's get you the hell out of here."

"Those drinks are hitting me pretty hard right now." Inuyasha chuckled drunkly. Miroku hadn't seen Inuyasha this drunk since college, but then again, Inuyasha was basically back in college.

"Keep it together, Inuyasha. Come on bud." Miroku draped one of Inuyasha's arms over his shoulders and began to basically drag Inuyasha from the condo and out to his car. Inuyasha didn't stop fighting Miroku until by some miracle Miroku had forced him into the car. "You can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, you know that?"

"I know, Miroku." Inuyasha clutched his busted right hand to his chest. The bleeding had slowed, but hadn't stopped. Miroku shut the door and went around to take his seat.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Miroku asked angrily. He was getting frustrated with Inuyasha's fits of rage.

"I already told you. Couldn't find the sledge hammer." Inuyasha smiled half heartedly. He sighed softly, turning away from Miroku. "I don't know man. I just can't handle all this. Then, there's that Kagome girl. She reminds me so much of Kikyo. I just don't understand why this happened."

"I know this is hard Inuyasha, but do you really think Kikyo would want you beating yourself up over this? I don't believe she would. She never liked seeing you hurt in any way, shape, or form." Miroku replied, glancing between Inuyasha and the rode as he drove to the hospital. "I can't say this happened for a reason, or that this was a blessing in disguise, but you owe it to her and yourself to make the most of this."

"Yeah." Was all Inuyasha could mutter before passing out in his seat.

Miroku looked at his drunk friend. Everything will be fine Inuyasha. I believe good things will come your way eventually, because if anyone deserves it, it is definitely you. I love you my friend.

.xx.

Kagome plopped on her bed, still mentally kicking herself about the incident at the club. What the hell is wrong with you!? Why would you try and kiss him? You barely know the man! Kagome grabbed a pillow and put it over her face, before screaming into it. A soft buzzing noise caught her attention. Her cell phone was lighting up. She had received a text from Sango.

Miroku just called me. He took Inuyasha to the hospital. He wouldn't say why. I just wanted to let you know.

"Oh great. You try to kiss him and you put him the hospital. Way to go, Kagome." She grumbled loudly. Ever since she was attacked in the alleyway, her brain has been complete mush. Her thoughts didn't make sense to her anymore, and she didn't understand her attraction to Inuyasha.

"Mommy?" Sakura's small voice came from the doorway.

"Hey, sweetheart. What are you doing up? It's late baby." Kagome sat up in her bed, and held her arms out for her daughter to join her. Sakura stumbled over to the bed and slowly crawled in beside Kagome. With a smile, Kagome pulled Sakura closer to her and wrapped her arms around Sakura's tiny body. "I love you baby." She said softly, the planted a kiss on the girl's cheek.

"I love you, Momma. Goodnight." Sakura quickly drifted off to sleep. Kagome watched her daughter sleep with a smile. Her children were the greatest things Naraku ever gave her. She didn't hate the man. There would always be a place for him in her heart, but she could never be with him again. They were too different, and it happened after he started working for some electronics company. She couldn't remember the name of it though.

"What the hell has been up with you lately, Naraku!?" Kagome yelled at her husband. They had been fighting constantly for the past week or so. "You're always in a damn bad mood!"

"Shut up woman! Fucking hell! You're always bitching about something. You're never happy. If anyone is the problem here, it's you. Stupid wench." Naraku growled through clenched teeth.

"What the hell did you call me!?" Kagome's eyes filled with rage, and she balled her fists. "Get the fuck out of my house Naraku! Now!" Her voice echoed throughout the house. She glared at Naraku heavily, until something connected with the left side of her face. She fell to the floor in a daze. A loud ringing plagued her ears, and she scanned the room. Naraku stood above her, yelling down at her.

"You wouldn't even have this house if it wasn't for me! You'd be nothing! You'd have nothing if it wasn't for me! It's about time you learned your place wench" The last thing Kagome remembers from the night was seeing Naraku cock back his right arm.

That was the last time Kagome had seen him. He left the house and moved out of the city. Kagome ended up losing the house and everything they had a few months later. That's when she returned to her mother's house. The kids had no idea why their father left that night, or why he never called. Kagome didn't have the heart to tell them. She didn't want them to hate him.

Kagome clutched Sakura close to her chest. "I love you." Kagome planted another kiss on the girl's temple before drifting off to sleep as well.

.xx.

Kagome awoke the next morning with drool covering part of her pillow. She pulled her face up, and strings of saliva were dripping from her mouth. She quickly wiped it away. "I'm so glad nobody will ever see me like this." She mumbled to herself. Sango wouldn't let her live this down if she ever saw this. Kagome pushed herself from the bed and swung her legs over the side. She couldn't remember what time she was supposed to be at work today. Neither Sango or Miroku had called her so she obviously wasn't late.

She stood from her bed slowly. Her muscles ached, and her back popped repeatedly as she made her way to the bathroom. "Oh my god. I forgot how hard dancing is on my body." Kagome groaned to herself, rubbing her lower back. She hadn't been out dancing since before Shiro was born. Ugh, I need to work out more. My body feels old. She splashed warm water on her face, when a knock sounded at her bedroom door. "It's open"

"Kagome, you have a visitor." Her mother spoke as she stepped into her room. "He's a very handsome young man. Beautiful violet eyes."

"What the hell is Miroku doing here!?" Kagome whispered harshly to herself, "Did he say why he was here?" Her mother simply shrugged.

"I don't even know who he is, sweetie."

"Miroku's my boss! Usually, he just calls me." Kagome stated, rushing to brush her teeth and make herself presentable. Her mother only snickered at her as Kagome darted back forth, trying to get dressed, then another knock sounded at the door. "What!?" Kagome growled aloud

Sango stepped into the room, "What crawled up your ass and died?"

"Did you not see Miroku standing in my living room!?" Kagome was basically yelling every word. She was tripping over her shoes while trying to brush her hair, and slip on her shirt.

"Well, yeah. I'm the one who brought him here. How else would he know where you live?"

"I don't know! Maybe he got it from our paperwork!"

"Yeah, that's illegal Kagome. Seriously, what is with you?" Sango grabbed Kagome by her shoulders. "You need to calm the hell down. We aren't working today. Shikon is closed today. It's Rin's birthday, so we're going to Shikon to celebrate. Miroku is cooking for everyone. I already got the kids dressed and ready. So, dress a little nicer Kags."

Kagome nodded dumbly, "Okay, okay. I might have a dress hidden somewhere in my closet." Sango helped Kagome dig through her closet, which looked like it had been completely destroyed the night before.

"What about this one?" Sango was holding a white, sleeveless dress with a lavender lace overlay near the neck line. The dress was knee length, and very form-fitting on Kagome.

"I don't know. I haven't worn that in years" Kagome looked over the dress, it looked a bit smaller than she remembered. She doubted it would still fit her.

"Well, that's too damn bad. Throw it on and I'll meet you downstairs. I'm pretty sure the kids are harassing Miroku to death already."

Downstairs, Miroku was play fighting with Shiro and Sakura. Miroku had become an evil monk according to the kids, and they had been sent to purify his soul by any means necessary. "We will purify your evil soul!" Sakura yelled as she jumped onto Miroku's back, wrapping her little arms around his neck. Shiro was lightly punching Miroku in the gut, trying to get him onto the couch.

"We almost have him, Sakura!" Shiro tried to push Miroku onto the couch so they'd have the advantage, but Miroku quickly tossed Sakura gently over his shoulder onto the couch and went after Shiro. Shiro growled slightly and attacked Miroku again, but was swiftly swept from his feet and hung upside down.

Sango entered the living room, and started giggling. Miroku's hair had been messed up, his clothes had gotten creases, and he was starting to sweat. Sango couldn't help but notice how attractive he was when playing with the kids. She found herself staring at Miroku lovingly, until a yell broke her concentration.

"Aunt Sango! Help us!" Sakura's small voice was a mixture of a yell and a laugh as Miroku began to tickle her relentlessly.

"Nobody can help you now! You're mine!" Miroku said with a menacing voice and the proceeded to laugh hysterically. He managed to get both kids pinned on the couch, and tickled them furiously. Tiny screams, wails and laughs filled the room. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around Miroku's waist, and he was flying through the air. Sango had suplexed him onto the other couch. He was a lot heavier than she anticipated, but he got up with a grin. "I see Aunt Sango has come to save the day."

"Well, I couldn't let those two cutie pies have all the fun." She grinned and charged Miroku, but gasped when he quickly tossed her onto the couch before she realized what happened. She tried to recover quickly, but Miroku had managed to pin her arms above her head. "Oh, I love this position." Sango whispered seductively into Miroku's ear. He blushed heavily and became distracted long enough for Sango to gain control. She wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled his head forward, keeping a forearm pressed against his throat.

Miroku found himself a mere two inches from Sango's face. The position they were in had him pressed against every inch of her body, and he fought every urge he had not to lean in for a kiss. He gazed into the depths of her chocolate brown eyes, and glanced down at her red lips. He wanted nothing more than to crash down on them with a searing passion.

Sango began to blush beneath Miroku's eyes, and her breath became ragged. She could feel anticipation, anxiety, and excitement swell within her, and she didn't know how to handle it. Before she could stop herself, she released her choke hold on Miroku and kissed his soft lips.

Miroku tensed up for a brief second, then deepened the kiss. He cupped her cheeks softly, and nipped at her bottom lip. He had become totally lost in the moment, which was to be short-lived.

"Shiro, we need to help her! He's trying to eat her!" Sakura said to her brother, who rolled his eyes.

"No, dummy. They're kissing. It's a grown up thing." Just at that moment, Kagome walked down stairs and into the living room.

"Mommy! Aunt Sango is kissing your boss!" Sakura giggled loudly, pointing at the two adults, who were now seven shades of red.

"She's doing what!?" Kagome quickly glanced around the wall to see Miroku and Sango jump up from the couch.

"I was doing no such thing!" Sango tried to defend herself, but Kagome eyed her cautiously.

"Liar. Your lipstick is smeared and all over Miroku's mouth." Kagome grinned at her two friends, "When were you two gonna tell me?"

"I don't know what you're talking about!" Sango covered her ears and ran to the bathroom to fix her make up.

Miroku stood there beneath Kagome's gaze. "You look lovely today, Kagome." He spoke softly, "Sorry, to just show up like this. I'm sure Sango already told you about Rin's birthday."

"She did. Although, a warning would have been nice." A small giggle escaped her lips, "Red looks good on you." She smirked as she handed Miroku a napkin to wipe the lipstick from his mouth.

"I- Uh- Thanks." Miroku blushed even more. "Inuyasha should already be arriving at Shikon right now."

"Inuyasha is going to be there?" Now, it was her turn to blush. She didn't know what she would say to him about last night, or if she should mention it at all.

"Don't worry. He's not upset about last night, but please refrain from asking about his hand. He's not happy about that."

"What happened to his hand?"

"Okay, are we ready to go?" Sango asked, bounding out of the bathroom. Shiro and Sakura nodded in unison.

"Let's get going then. I have to start cooking soon" Miroku said straightening his jacket out. He led the girls and the kids outside to the limo he had rented for the occasion. It wasn't often that he spent money of lavish things, but today was different. Today was already off to a great start, and it could only get better from here.

.xx.

Sesshomaru and Inuyasha had been busy all morning decorating Shikon for Rin's dinner party. It wasn't a surprise by any means, since Rin had a creepy way of knowing everything that went on. But, they wanted it to look like they had attempted to have a nice party. Unfortunately, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were the least creative people on the planet in terms of decorations.

"I think it looks great." Inuyasha said to himself, as he gazed upon his and his brother's work.

"You are either blind or stupid. Probably both." Sesshomaru muttered as he hung up another streamer. "We should have waited for the girls. They probably have good taste right?"

"How should I know? I barely know them." Inuyasha placed more of the table center pieces down. Kusano had made them the night prior. There were beautiful red and white roses placed in small vases, painted beautiful swirls of orange and yellow hues. "Did you remember to get Rin a present this year, Fluffy?"

"Yes, I did. It's sitting out in the parking."

"You got her a car? She already has three!"

"No. Her present is just in my car. I'm not stupid Inuyasha." Sesshomaru muttered at his brother.

"Shut up." Inuyasha gazed down at his watch, "Miroku and the girls should be here any minute now. Go get Rin's present from the car and go pick her up."

"She has a car she can drive here."

Inuyasha sighed, "You're the worst husband ever."

The front doors to Shikon swung open, Miroku was the first to step in, followed by Sango, and finally Kagome. Inuyasha's heart jumped in his chest once his eyes fell upon Kagome. She looked absolutely stunning. Her hair was pulled into a messy bun, with several strands of hair framing her face. Her dress clung tightly to her body, and she wore violet lipstick. Behind her were two children, a boy and a girl. The children seemed familiar to him somehow.

That painting in my apartment! It's of Kagome and her kids! Inuyasha's head began pounding. His pulse began to race rapidly, and he collapsed in the seat beside him. Images and memories began to flood his head, but he couldn't make any sense of them.

Inuyasha sat a bench in the park with his painting supplies and easel. It was a beautiful day, and he refused to be trapped at TGE today. The park itself was filled with joys of laughter, and songs of birds, harmonizing in perfect unison. The grass swayed in the wind, and the ducks quacked their songs wonderfully.

He released a sigh of relief and began unpacking his paints. He didn't wish to waste any time. Once everything was unpacked, he quickly began painting streaks of yellows and greens around the outer perimeter of the canvas. After several minutes, he heard the laughter of a girl from near by. He peered around the side of the easel and spotted a mother and her two children playing hide and seek within the tree line. The little girl, maybe three or four years of age, squealed as her mother came close to her, and ran away. The boy, possibly five or six, did his best to remain quiet even as his mother edged closer to the tree he was hiding behind.

Quickly, Inuyasha began painting the trio as best as he could. He painted the mother's beautiful raven hair first, then proceeded to paint the rest. As the painting came together, he smiled at how he was able to capture the beauty of the moment, as the mother swung her two children around. It took him nearly two hours to finish the painting, but it was one of his best yet. His mood quickly switched, when his phone began to ring. He growled inwardly, and answered it.

"Takahashi." Inuyasha spoke into his phone, wishing he hadn't.

"Sir, we have a situation. It appears that the solar panel project in Sydney, is missing the necessary funds to be completed. Takada has been running over reports and files trying to locate it, but he hasn't had any luck." Yura spoke quickly into the phone.

"Fucking shit. Okay, I'll be there soon." Inuyasha muttered before hanging up with his assistant. He began to gather his things quickly. "Hopefully this doesn't take long." He turned and ran back to his car, leaving the painting and easel behind.

Inuyasha shook his head. The pounding in his head stopped, and he was breathing heavily. He gazed around and noticed everyone had gathered around him, with worried looks written on their faces. "What?"

"Are you okay? You blacked out for a few minutes." Miroku said, looking at his friend. "Sesshomaru, can you check him?" Sesshomaru stepped forward but Inuyasha stopped him.

"I'm fine." Inuyasha stood from the chair, and glanced at Kagome, which everyone noticed. Kagome blushed heavily, and averted her gaze elsewhere. "When's Rin getting here?"

"Soon. Are you sure you're okay? I can examine you quickly." Sesshomaru stated, folding his arms over his chest.

"Yes, I'm sure. It's Rin's day. Let's not ruin it." Inuyasha turned towards Sango, "Would you mind getting me a drink from the bar?" His voice was unusually soft and polite. Sango could only nod and walked away from the others. Everyone conversed amongst one another while waiting for Rin. Shiro and Sakura were sitting at a table talking with their mother. Even while he was talking with Miroku, he kept stealing glances over at Kagome.

"She's here!" Sesshomaru stated nonchalantly. Quickly, everyone gathered in front of the entrance to Shikon so they could welcome the birthday girl. As the door began to open, everyone took a deep breath.

"Happy birthday!" They all yelled in thunderous unison, just as Rin appeared in the doorway. A large smile crept across her and she began to bounce like a small child.

"Aw, thank you everyone! This place looks great!" Upon hearing that, Inuyasha shot Sesshomaru a smirk and raised his drink mockingly. Sesshomaru only snarled and turned his attention back to his wife. After several moments of greetings and happy birthdays, Miroku disappeared into the kitchen to begin making their food. Kagome had taken a seat with Shiro and Sakura, who had become bored of all the adults. Inuyasha noticed the children were becoming restless, and walked over to them

"Mind if I take a seat?" Inuyasha asked Kagome, pointing at one of the chairs.

"What happened to your hand mister?" Sakura asked, staring at his bandaged hand intensely.

"Sakura." Kagome began to scold her, but Inuyasha laughed.

"It's okay." He smiled at Kagome, and took a seat. "Well, you see. I decided I was going to remodel my home, but unfortunately, I'm clumsy. So, in my rush to tear down one of the walls, I hit my hand with a hammer."

"You should be more careful mister. My mom says that tools can be dangerous. She was right." Sakura replied to the silver haired man.

Inuyasha let out a soft chuckle, "Your mom is definitely right. My name's Inuyasha, what's yours?"

Sakura smiled gleefully, "Sakura."

"Oh, that's such a lovely name." Inuyasha smiled at the little girl, then turned his attention towards her brother. "And, what's your name young man?"

Shiro didn't look directly at Inuyasha. He was trying to hide the sour look on his face, but Inuyasha noticed it. "That's a excellent name. What do you like to do for fun?"

"I like video games."

"Oh yeah? Me too. I'm pretty good." Inuyasha grinned, "What game are you playing right now?"

"I don't remember the name of it." It was obvious Shiro wanted the conversation to end, which Inuyasha was happy to grant his wish. Inuyasha knew how it was to want to be left alone.

"Are you the man that saved my mommy?" Sakura chirped. Kagome spit a little of her drink back into her cup upon hearing her daughter's question.

"So, I've been told. I don't remember it though." Inuyasha explained with a smile.

"Why?"

"I got hurt that night and lost some of my memory."

"Why?"

"Because something in my head was damaged."

"Why?"

"Because I got shot."

"Why?"

"Because I rescued your mom." Inuyasha laughed. This kid is full of questions. How does Kagome do it?

"Okay Sakura, that's enough. Quit pestering the poor guy." Kagome smiled at Inuyasha.

"So Kagome, you look beautiful today." Inuyasha returned her smile with his own, which immediately caused her to blush. "Is there any way I could talk to you privately for a moment?"

"Kids, can you go bother your Aunt Sango for a bit?" Shiro and Sakura nodded, and took off from the table. "Inuyasha, listen. I'm so-"

Inuyasha held up a finger to silence her, "No need to apologize. I understand it was the heat of the moment type thing." Inuyasha took a long drink, and continued to speak. "I just wanted to let you know that I had fun. I'd like to go out with you again, if that's okay."

"Wait, you're asking me on a date?" Kagome was completely dumbfounded.

"Yeah. I guess I am. Does tomorrow evening work for you?"

"I'm sorry, I have to work." Kagome lowered her head. I'm going to lose the only chance to have a date with him. Great.

"I'll handle that. I'll pick you up tomorrow. Here's my number." Inuyasha slid a piece of paper containing his cell number across the table. "Send me your address tomorrow." With that being said, Inuyasha stood from the table and left Kagome in shock.
