Welcome to Minecraft (You'll Never Leave)

Chapter 25

And so the long awaited conclusion of this story has finally rolled around. I'll miss this story.

But then again, I say I'll miss all my stories...

*Shrug*

That's how life works right?

You start something, love it, get burned out and start uploading every month or so. I think it's just how the world works.

At least in my experience anyway:)

"I found what we're looking for!" Anika said.

"You found where she is?" I asked.

"Yep, it took a while, but I finally found where she's hiding."

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Log said. Log and I started walking out, but I noticed Anika wasn't following.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just need to get something," she said, putting some items in a bag. After getting everything she needed, we all set out to find the building where our friends were.

. . .

I looked up at the building. "So this is the place?" I said.

"Yeah." Anika said.

"It looks like a warehouse." Log said, "not exactly evil lair material."

"Well, that's what sets her aside from all the other villains." Anika said. "She's practical."

"So, once we can take the machine from her, we can get our friends back?"

"Exactly."

"Then what are we waiting for?" I asked. "Lets get in there, and find our friends!"

"Hold on." Anika said. "We have to approach this lightly. If we just burst in there without a plan, we'll get shot down."

"You mean that metaphorically right?" I asked.

"No, she has thugs that'll gun down any suspicious people."I gulped.

"She's quite the murderous person isn't she?"

"Oh, she's just delusional."
"What do you mean?" I asked.

"She's going crazy."Anika said.

"How is she going crazy if five seconds ago you were saying she's practical?" Log asked.

"Well, as you can see she's kidnapping people so they'll participate in her 'experiments'. As for the practicality, you don't have to be completely sane to have some common sense."

"Can't argue with that one." I said, and Log nodded. Anika crouched behind the wall, and started creeping towards a door. She pointed something at it, which made the knob give way.

"What's that?" I whispered.

"It's a device that disables electric locks."

"How'd you know that lock would be electric?" I asked.

"Well, I designed it."

"What?" Log asked.

"An inter dimensional teleporter isn't the only things she stole from me." Anika said, pushing the door open lightly. She crept in, then waved a few moments later for us to follow. My eyes widened at how large the room we were in was. When I spoke my voice had an echo.

"Woah, if the warehouse is this big how are we supposed to find out friends?"

"We find a map." Anika said simply.
"A map, in here?" Log asked.

"A big place like this is bound to have some where of navigating quickly,"

Anika pulled out one of the machines she packed, and after a few moments of typing, she showed us a map, a smirk on her face.

"Follow me," we both started following Anika as she wove through the corridors, taking sharp turns without even looking up.

"How can you tell where you're going?" Log asked.

"Simple, I just follow the little arrow on the screen."

Weird.

We continued until there was a door in our way.

"What? Why are we here?" I asked.

"This is where the main controls are," Anika explained. "In here we'll be able to get your friends back."

Finally, it's been too long.

Anika hunkered down, and took out the invention she'd used to unlock the entrance door.

"You know what's been bothering me, where are all the guards you've been talking about?"

"I've been thinking about that too," Anika replied, pushing the door open slowly. "I just try to ignore it for as long as I can."

"What if it's a trap?"

"That crossed my mind."

"Why are you so calm about this?"

"Because if I show that I'm panicking, you'll start panicking."

"Wait, so you're panicking."

"No," Anika said, opening a door. "But what I am doing is saving your friends."

"You found the room?" Log and I both said.

"Yep," she started typing into a computer. When she pressed the enter button a machine in the corner of the room powered on. "Okay, so all I need to do is..." as she continued typing, the machine started making a strange whirring sound.

"Why's it making that sound?" I asked.

"I'm overriding it's previous commands. Just give me a couple of minutes and it'll be ready to bring your friends back. An alarm sounded, causing all of us to flinch.

"I don't think we have a few minutes..." I said, looking around.

This is not good. This is not good at all.

The door burst open and a woman walked in, a shocked expression on her face.

"You..." she hissed.

"Hello Helen. It's been a while."

"You, what are you doing here?" Helen asked. Anika continued typing, but held the conversation.

"Trying to fix the mess you caused!"

"What mess?"

"Look at the two gentlemen in front of you. They wouldn't have a problem with what you're doing if you hadn't kidnapped their friends."

"Wouldn't have a problem!? If I had known what she was doing I would have called the cops."

"You're missing the point," Anika said.

"So you're the people my henchmen have been talking about."

Henchmen? What movie is she from?

"I have to say, it's very impressive that you managed to evade them. Very impressive indeed," the machine stopped whirring, and started booting up.

"Now, Helen, I think you're going to want to give up quietly, or maybe you want to end up in a Call of Duty game? Or perhaps Silent Hill would be more appropriate," Helen stepped back, holding her hands up.

"No, none of that will be necessary," she clapped, and two goons grabbed Anika's arms. "Now, I think it'll be you who needs to surrender," Anika stared her down.

"Do your worst."

"Hm... should I go for what you mentioned... no, that would be so unoriginal of me. Perhaps Amnesia? That game's impossible to beat without dying," Helen smiled. "I think I'll send your friends there too," she let out a chuckle. "Yes, that'll be perfect."

Log and I both looked to Anika for help.

"Don't worry," she said. "It won't be that bad."

"Anika, have you gone insane!?" I exclaimed. She sighed.

"Trust me."

Helen aimed the machine at us, and booted it up.

"This will be marvelous! Truly marvelous! I'll get rid of two thorns in my side all at once!" It finally finished with a quiet ding. She fired it at us, but instead of being in the castle that housed the scariest game ever, a person slammed into my face.

"Huh?" I looked up and saw Mitch, Seto, Ty, Adam, Alesa, and a guy with a mask, all of them were unconscious.

"What?" Helen looked enraged. "This wasn't supposed to happen!" She started typing into the same computer Anika had just been pushed away from. "What did you do?!"

"I simply overrode the code so it would return people teleported to different dimensions instead of send them away." Helen lunged towards Anika who just dodged the attack.

"Initiate lock down protocol," an alarm sounded, and iron doors blocked all the exits.

Now we're locked in a room with a crazy psycho. There's no way this could go horribly wrong.

Log had his hands in his back pockets. I looked a little closer, and saw him dialing a short number.

He's calling for help.

Why didn't I think of that?!

I could hear a faint voice, but couldn't make anything out, so I doubt Helen heard it.

"Ha, now that we're all here in this nice little space, why don't we all sit down?" She pulled out a gun. I looked over at Anika, and saw her pale face. The three of us sat down. "Now I don't want any of you to move. One false move and my finger could slip. Helen walked behind us. I didn't dare sneak a look. "Which one of you should I execute first?" I gulped. "How about you?" I felt cool metal touch the back of my neck. "No, you're not the right one," she let out a chuckle. "I know who to get rid of first," and before anyone could stop her, a shot fired and Anika lurched forward, blood seeping from the wound in her head.

"N-no," I stuttered, bile rising to my throat.

After all we'd been through. She-she's dead.

"That was satisfying! My worst enemy has now been defeated."

"I wouldn't... say that," we all looked at Anika. "L-Log... called... 9-1-1...they heard... it all. Probably... on their way... as we...speak," Helen let out a shriek, and kicked Anika in the head. She didn't respond. She was already dead. I was trying to breath.

Anika is dead...

ANIKA IS DEAD!

I stood up. "You killed Anika," I whispered. "You killed her!" Helen let out a shallow laugh. It was full of fear.

"I do a lot of things," she said, her voice shaking.

"She didn't deserve that," I said. The police burst through.

"Nobody move!" Helen put her hands up. She looked shocked.

"This isn't how it was supposed to happen... no one was supposed to die."

Then why were you talking about executing everyone?

. . .

Helen was taken away. A few months later all of us were called in to testify as to what had happened. Her attorney tried to plead temporary insanity, but these kidnappings had apparently been going on for almost a year according to Helen herself. When she was asked about Anika's murder she claimed that she didn't mean to shoot anyone. She thought the safety was on and just wanted to scare everyone.

She didn't deny that what she did was wrong.

As for all of us, we're all fine. Well except for a few emotional scars. Other than that we'll be okay.

Adam and Ty introduced me to Cry. He was a pretty cool dude. Though I do wonder why he has that mask. I didn't pry though. That was his business and his alone.

I just wish I knew what happened to that machine...

Date and time unknown

"What are we going to do with this?" One man asked his partner.

"Dunno," she replied. "We can't just put it somewhere. We have to destroy it."

"I can take it off your hands," a new voice said. The two detectives looked over at the new man that had entered the room.

"Can we see some identification?" The woman detective asked.

"Of course," the woman pulled out a detective's badge. "I believe this will suffice," the man took the badge, and flipped it over.

"Yeah," he handed it back. "What are you going to do with it?"

"I'll take it to a facility that specializes in taking apart machines. They'll make sure it's never used again." The detectives looked at each other, then nodded.

"Alright then, we'll send someone to watch you. We're watching you like a hawk," the woman nodded.

"I understand, you don't have to worry."

. . .

"Where is the machine?" Helen asked.

"I have the blueprints, but the machine was destroyed." Helen looked upset.

"Make sure you get it up and running. All our research can't go to waste."

"I understand, I will build it. It'll just take some time," Helen nodded.

"I don't care how much time it takes. I just want it done!" The other woman nodded.

"I understand. It'll get finished."

"But who destroyed it?"

"This group of detectives. One of them struck a deal with the other two. He destroyed it."

"You don't know their names?"

"No, if I did they wouldn't be a problem," Helen let out a sigh.

"What's done is done. Just get out of here and finish the machine.

"I want to finish this as soon as possible."
