Chapter 34

As expected, the day at school proved to be a hard thing to go through as he had so much trouble following his first lessons of the day because of the lack of sleep that there had been last night as a direct consequence of the bad dream. Of course, his strange behavior didn't go by unnoticed when it came to the teachers and so he didn't notice that his math teacher Mister Andrews had kept on calling his name:

"Hello Ryan are you still following the lesson or is there anything else on your mind, which you like to share with the rest of the class?" It took quite a while but then he noticed that not only his math teacher but the entire class was looking at him, as they waited for his reply and as he saw he couldn't help but think: Oh no! This is definitely one of those moments where I wish that I could just throw myself in the next best deep hole.

As quickly as possible he snapped himself out of this trance and said: "Of course I'm still following the lesson Mister Andrews and no there isn't anything else on my mind at the moment."

"That's good to know, so then read out to the class what you have as a solution for the task number five." Mister Andrews replied and he seemed pleased with the fact that he was now able to continue with the lesson, after taking care of that little problem with a pupil that spaced out for a moment during class. Miranda had watched that whole scene and of course she asked herself what Ryan had bugged so much last night, that caused him to look that pale the following day. As a friend should I ask him, if he wants to talk about that one thing that is on his mind or wait if he decides himself to seek out for my advice on this problem? As she clearly didn't want to embarrass herself like Ryan had just a few minutes ago, she decided that it would be the best if she would think about the best course of action when the time for the first break of the school day had come. Lizzie and Gordo didn't have the luck to sit together in the first class of the day, as Gordo was busy with learning more about physics, Lizzie was sitting in the history class and of course both of them missed the other one so much during those times of the school day.

What was unknown to Gordo at the moment, he did have a secret admirer for quite some time now and that girl planned to make her presence felt very soon. One thing was for sure: Not everybody was going to like what she would do but she never had cared what other people thought about her. Meanwhile Gordo focused on doing what he always did: Being one of the most active pupils in class when it came to getting involved verbally and today was again one of those days when he felt a little bit underwhelmed.

Meanwhile Lizzie was also focused on the history class, even if talking about World War II definitely wasn't one of the favorite topics that she wanted to talk about. But as getting herself distracted would have a negative effect on her grade, she had realized that it was for the best if her attention would be a hundred percent on the current lesson. Later in the first break of the day, Miranda realized that Ryan was nowhere to be found: He's probably just at the toilet or meeting with someone at the other end of the building. She thought as she wandered through the halls, as she wouldn't want to overreact at that point no matter how distraught Ryan might have seemed.

Meanwhile somewhere else in this big building Ryan sat the start of a flight of stairs, his hands covering his hands as his he was trying his best to figure out what had happened to him and what he would do next: Should I talk to Miranda about the things that kept me awake last night?

Right now, it was so hard for him decide if he should unload some of his emotional baggage onto someone that he practically had just met. Maybe it was because of his fear that things between them could get awkward and he didn't want to lose Miranda completely. But what if she's the person that can help out of this emotional hole, which I'm stuck in and don't see any way out of at this point?

In the end he had two options and that left only one difficult question to answer: What option would he prefer at the end of the day? The only thing that was clear at this point was one thing: No matter how hard it would be to do, he needed to get himself refocused on the rest of the still long day at school.

He took one deep breath before he stood up and made his way towards the room where his next lesson would take place, as he had realized that he had wasted most his break time with worrying about his recent emotional problems anyway and he hoped that nobody had noticed his long absence that much, especially Miranda as both of them had spent the breaks with each other most of the time.

AN: It looks like Ryan isn't ready yet to talk about his troubles with Miranda but will there maybe be a moment that will make that mask fall very soon? Thanks for all the support from my readers.
