A/N: This will be a collection of more structured poetry, unlike my usual freeverse. Things like sonnets, ballades, and whatever else I decide to try out.
For the Stratified Agate Competition Level 2A – write a rhyming poem, and for the Writing Poetry in Form Challenge. This time a quatrain using the abcb rhyming structure.

3. Becoming a Pair
If someone said they would become a pair back then
she would have laughed at them; impossible it seemed
to think they would ever match: tawny and fair –
it was a relationship she'd never dreamed.
But now they were together, in that rook house
under the moon, where the wolves howled and birds sung
and all sorts of magical creatures came there,
chattering happily in their mother tongue.
They couldn't understand, so they would just guess
and they were kinder company than the rest:
people who could not let go of older times
who saw her with a fierce monster soul abreast.
But not in that house: it was a peaceful place
in nature: in wild sweet animals and her
who didn't look at her scars and cringe away
but smiled and gently caressed both skin and fur.
