Chapter 4 - The Incredible Hulk
Caroline and Bonnie were sitting on Caroline's bed in her childhood room, boxes surrounding them as they packed up her things as she was moving in with Klaus. It was turning into an emotional day, they already had to send Liz away as tears had filled her eyes and her voice began to tremble.
Bonnie picked up a picture of herself, Caroline, and Elena in their normal human cheerleader days. They were so innocent back then, they had no idea what lied around the corner, how they would go from worrying about dances, fashion trends and boys to worrying about survival, bloodlust and overwhelming grief for each of their fallen friends and parents. So young.
Caroline was sorting through her jewellery when she noticed that Bonnie had stopped. Putting her task aside she scooted up beside Bonnie, and soon found herself choking up as she gazed at the picture of herself and her best friends, well one of them was now former as she hadn't spoken to Elena in well over a year. Ever since she chose to be with Klaus, Elena had cast her aside and their friendship was now irrevocably lost.
"We were so young back then." Bonnie commentated, still transfixed on the photo in her hands. Where had it all gone so wrong? When the Original's arrived? When Caroline chose to be with Klaus? When Elena chose Damon over Stefan? Or was it when she changed her mind and discarded Damon only for Bonnie to fall in love with him? So many life altering decisions had taken place and any one of them could have been the catalyst for the chasm in their once strong friendships. All Bonnie knew now was that she was sick of basing her decisions on whether or not it would somehow effect Elena's life. She was living for herself and herself only. Her heart was hers to chose whomever as her other half and after a heartbreaking six months of pushing Damon away and denying how much she cared for him she finally freed herself from Elena's influence and chose Damon. She did not regret that decision.
"We were." Caroline agreed with Bonnie, they were very young then, in age and in life. She was just a silly little girl back then, desperate for any boy to love her and for her friends to notice who she truly was. She had always been the loyal, kind, protective woman she was now, it was just buried under years of insecurities. Insecurities caused by every one of her friends treating Elena like she was the Sun and all of them should orbit around her. Even Stefan and Damon, whom were over a hundred and sixty years old, acted like the teenagers they surrounded themselves with, treating Elena as if she were made of glass, as if she was the centre of the universe and no others opinion mattered but hers. Was it really okay that so many people had died because of and for Elena? No, it really wasn't. She may be the doppelganger but she wasn't God, she didn't deserve the idolatry that they bestowed upon her. Thank god that she had grown up and began making her own decisions. Klaus was her mate, her forever, and the owner of her heart. All she had ever wanted, needed and desired was him, and she was now the happiest she had ever been in her entire life. For the first time ever she had a man whom adored her and friends who would quite literally kill for her - Katherine, Rebekah, Kol - to put it simply she had a family, one whom would never abandon her and would be there for her forever. Klaus, Stefan, Rebekah, Katherine, Elijah and Kol are her family, and she loved each and every one of them.
"Do you miss her?" Bonnie asked quietly, trepidation in her voice for speaking the question.
"Sometimes." Caroline sighed, honesty in her voice as she elaborated, "I miss the girl she used to be before we all put her on a pedestal."
Bonnie opened her mouth to object before snapping it closed as the truth of Caroline's words hit her. They had put Elena on a pedestal, Matt especially, so much so that he was hurt most of all in her fall from grace, though Bonnie thinks Caroline and Rebekah helped soften the blow. She knew that some part of Matt was still in love with Caroline, just as he still loved Elena, and he was just beginning to open up to Rebekah when she chose to reunite with Stefan. Poor Matt, one day he would find the girl for him.
Caroline could see that Bonnie was about to object before she promptly closed her mouth, "Don't try to deny it, Bonnie, you know it's true. We DID put her on a pedestal." Her eyes grew sad as she recalled her misery filled youth, "Only I took it a step further, and turned my worship of her into a rivalry. I tried to be the best at everything, was on every committee there was and felt that if I could only just BEAT Elena at something then I would validate myself somehow." She shook her head and laughed humorlessly, "Didn't work. I may have been Miss Mystic Falls but Elena was still the centre of attention for everyone." She blinked furiously to keep the tears back, "Then I died, and was reborn as a monster." She smiled bitterly, "Still, it was all because of Elena."
Bonnie could finally understand what Caroline meant. When they were younger she thought Caroline was ridiculous for having this one sided competition with Elena, they were friends and had no need for petty rivalries. Now she could see that she had contributed to making Caroline insecure, thinking that she was only petty and shallow, while Elena was full of kindness and an empathetic ear. The truth was, she had never even given Caroline a chance to be anything else. Shame filled her to her core. Bonnie let a tear escape as she clutched her friends hand, "I am sorry for ever making you feel like you were less than Elena because you're not." She smiled as she held Caroline's gaze, truth shining in her eyes, "You are a far better person than she, Caroline, and don't you ever forget it."
"Thank you." Caroline grinned, her heart becoming inextricably lighter at Bonnie's words. No matter how much she tried to put her insecurities behind her they were still there just simmering below the surface, Klaus and his family helped to heal her but some wounds are too deep and she feared she may never be rid of them. After all, the Mikaelson's were over a thousand years old and each one of them were still plagued by their own insecurities. The abuse they suffered under Mikael and Esther leaving their own jaggered scar that they were only just learning to overcome. The first cut is always the deepest.
Bonnie wiped her eyes, "You were such a great friend to us, Care, I'm sorry that I was not always a great friend back." She bit her lip to prevent more tears from escaping, "After you transitioned all I cared about was that I would stop you if you hurt anyone else. I didn't even try to help you!"
"It's in the past, Bon. You had deep and justifiable prejudices against vampires." Caroline smiled at Bonnie to show her that she was forgiven, "What matters is that you learnt to except me, me and everyone else. You have saved us more times than I can count." She wrapped her arms around Bonnie in a hug, "Thank you, Bonnie Bennett."
Bonnie was grateful for Caroline's words but she still felt bad for her treatment of Caroline all those years ago, "You must have felt so alone, Caroline."
Caroline pulled back to look at Bonnie's face. She could see the pain that lingered in her from her past choices. She decided to be as honest as she could, "I was lonely at first. Cut off from the human world by being trapped in my house by the sunlight. Cut off from Matt by my fear of hurting him. Cut off from my friends as they were now afraid of me. And I had to deal with the fact that I killed a man, which even now still haunts me."
Bonnie's eyes filled with horror. She was shocked that Caroline ever even spoke to her again after she blanked her when she turned.
Caroline blinked away the shadows in her eyes and continued, "Then there was Stefan. He was my saviour." A bright smile covered her face, "He was there for me, even after Katherine made me spy on them, he still helped me. I shudder to think of what I would have become without his guidance. He's my best friend."
It hurt Bonnie when she realised just whom Caroline's BEST best friend was. It wasn't herself, definitely wasn't Elena, nor Katherine or Rebekah, it was Stefan. The man that first came to Mystic Falls to start over and had fallen for Katherine's doppelganger. The man everyone had thought would do anything for Elena and would love her forever. Once upon a time that had been true, Stefan had loved Elena with everything inside of him, but then she had chosen his brother over him. Stefan had been devastated but had eventually leant to move on, with Caroline's love and support he had re-fallen for Rebekah. Their friendship was unwaveringly strong, they supported one another completely and protected the other fiercely. Bonnie was ashamed to admit that she was jealous of Caroline and Stefan's friendship, even though she had no right to be, she had been the one to fight with Caroline - only to be threatened by Rebekah - she had left it a year to talk to her. A whole year in which Caroline's friendships with Stefan and the Original family had grown stronger, even Katherine was now her friend! Shaking her thoughts away she replied, "Stefan has been a good friend to you over the years."
"The best." Caroline answered, a smile curling her lips as she thought of everything Stefan had done for her. He really was her saviour, her hero, and she would forever be grateful that he had decided to come home.
"Do you want to keep the photo?" Bonnie asked, knowing that they had lingered too long talking when they should have been packing.
"Yes." Caroline took the photo from Bonnie, "Even though I'm no longer the girl in this photo and I'm no longer friends with Elena, I still want to keep it." She reached under her bed bringing up a shoebox and opened the lid. Inside was mementos that she had kept over the years. Little meaningful things from Matt, Tyler and Klaus, stuff from Bonnie and Elena. Small keepsakes that may not make her heart rush anymore but still flooded her with fondness at their remembered worth.
Bonnie smiled in understanding. She had her own version at home, filled with things from Jeremy, Caroline, Elena, Matt, and now Damon. It didn't matter whether they were still friends or not, it had meaning and she would cherish it forever.
"Okay." Caroline blew out a breath, "Let's finish this."
Caroline and Bonnie got back to work packing away her things.
X
A few hours later Bonnie and Caroline had almost half of her room done. There was boxes everywhere, filled with things she was keeping and things she was donating.
Bonnie had just taped up a box when she asked, "Are your new friends coming to help at all?"
"No." Caroline laughed, "I banned them."
"Why?" Bonnie asked.
Caroline gestured around her room, "Because this is my human life, and they are my immortal life." Her eyes filled with sadness as saying goodbye to her childhood home, she will still visit of course but no longer could she call it home, "I wanted to say goodbye with those that knew me when I was human."
Bonnie crossed the room and pulled Caroline into a hug. It meant so much to her that she had chosen herself to help her with this, even though their friendship was only just on the mend Caroline still wanted her to help. Grinning widely she teased, "You know, Stefan also knew you when you were human."
"I know." Caroline chuckled, "He also pointed that out to me when I told them all that I wouldn't require their help."
Bonnie smirked, "How did that go?"
"There was arguing and definitely some pouting. Especially from Stefan." She shrugged her shoulders and giggled, "He's a pouter, go figure."
Bonnie raised shocked eyebrows, "Stefan Salvatore is a pouter?"
"Big time." Caroline nodded her head.
"We are talking about the same serious barely cracked a smile Stefan that dated Elena?" Bonnie had to ask, in the few years she's known Stefan she had hardly ever seen him smile even when he was with Elena.
"You don't know my Stefan, Bonnie." Caroline felt saddened that none of her old friends knew the Stefan that she did, "He laughs, he smiles, he jokes. He's the most wonderful person and has such a giving heart. I love Stefan and I will be there for him and protect him for the rest of my life."
"Don't let Klaus here you say that." Damon smirked, casually leaning against the wall of Caroline's bedroom, "Might not end well for my baby bro."
"Damon." Caroline greeted, crossing her own arms across her chest as she glared, "What are you doing here?"
Damon just smirked wider at Caroline's glare, "I came to see my girlfriend as you've been hogging her all day." His eyes turned soft as his gaze moved to Bonnie and his smile became loving, "I missed you, Bonnie."
Bonnie smiled back, a pleased flush lighting her cheeks, "I missed you too, Damon." As if a string was pulling them together she moved to Damon's side curling her arms around his waist and burying her nose in his chest, breathing in his masculine scent, "Like, really missed you."
"As have I, love." Damon nuzzled his nose in Bonnie's hair and breathed her in, sighing with pleasure that she was back in his arms. Brushing his lips across her forehead to her ear he whispered, "I love you, Bonnie."
Bonnie grinned, her heart fluttering as they always did when Damon said those three words. She teasingly ran her fingernails across his lower back under his t-shirt just to hear his breath hitch before she replied, "I love you too, Damon."
Damon closed his eyes, his heart clenching in his chest at Bonnie's easy use of those words. Sometimes he still felt like they were a dream, a perfect blissful dream, and that he was still chasing after her trying to convince her to give him a chance. He's not sure if he'll ever lose that feeling of its too good to be true, but as long as Bonnie willingly comes into his arms and never stops telling him that she loves him, he gladly stay in this blissful haze he was currently living in.
Bonnie tilted her head up so that she could gaze into Damon's gorgeous eyes. The love and adoration that met her took her breath away. How was it possible that she loved him so much after only falling for him months ago, where as it took over a year to feel this way about Jeremy and even then, she feels more now with Damon than she ever did with Jeremy.
Damon could lose himself in Bonnie's green eyes, they were so deep and penetrating, pulling him to her like a moth to a flame. Not wanting to resist the lure of his girl he lowered his lips to hers and kissed her passionately. His hands on her hips holding her possessively against him.
Bonnie moaned as Damon kissed the breathe out of her, the way he molded their bodies together made her insides tremble with want. Not to be outdone she ran her hands over his clothed chest and sunk her teeth into his bottom lip.
Damon groaned, his hands sliding from Bonnie's hips to slide over the twin globes of her ass and pull her against him roughly. He grinds his hardness against her core, wanting nothing more than to be buried inside her heat.
"Uh, guys?" Caroline's voice interrupted Bonnie and Damon's makeout, "Still here."
Bonnie pulled her lips from Damon's and peeked over her shoulder, "Sorry, Care."
Damon just smirked at Caroline, pulling Bonnie deeper into his arms. His arm wrapped around her waist and his hand buried in her hair.
"What the HELL do you think you are doing?" A very unwelcome voice was heard.
Bonnie froze in Damon's arms as she heard Elena's voice. This would be the first time she had seen her in weeks, maybe even months. She had not told her about Damon and herself.
Damon groaned as Bonnie tensed in his arms at the sound of Elena's voice. He knew she was worried about his reaction to Elena, not that she should be as Bonnie was his world, Elena meant nothing to him now, he viewed her just as he viewed Katherine. The bitch that broke his heart.
"Well?" Elena prompted at their silence, crossing her arms over her chest, "What are you doing?"
"I'm..." Bonnie began to speak before Damon covered her mouth.
"What has it got to do with you?" Damon asked, narrowing his gaze and keeping his arms fixed around Bonnie.
A wounded look appeared on Elena's face at Damon's dismissive tone, "You and Bonnie hate each other so why do you have your arms around one another?" Tears filled her eyes, "Are you doing this to hurt me?"
Damon let out an annoyed breath, "No, Elena, we are not trying to hurt you and no we don't hate each other. In fact," he turned his eyes away from Elena and to Bonnie, "I'm in love with her."
Bonnie felt a big grin appear on her face as her heart raced. Damon just told Elena, the love of his life, that he was in love with Bonnie and his beautiful eyes shone bright with it. Blinking furiously at the tears in her eyes she repeated his words, "And I'm in love with him."
A shocked gasp left Elena's lips, hurt filling her being at her best friends betrayal. How could Bonnie do this to her? She knew that Damon was hers and always would be. Was she doing this just because Jeremy had dumped her? As the thought occurred to her she ran with it, pushing down the pain as she realised they were trying to hurt her and her brother for breaking up with them.
Caroline narrowed her gaze as Elena went from wounded puppy to relieved. What has she been thinking that would make Damon and Bonnie's togetherness a relief? Whatever it was she was pretty sure that the shit was going to hit the fan. She just hoped they could avoid any bloodshed as she really didn't want to have to clean up any blood on her last day in her childhood home.
Bonnie too was confused as to why Elena looked relieved. Knowing her as well as she did made her suspect that she had twisted their reasoning for being together inside her head so that it made sense to her. No matter what nonsense Elena spouted Bonnie would set her straight, she loved Damon for himself and nothing else.
Damon sighed, Elena really didn't get the message, she thinks that everything has to be about her and that nobody would do anything without asking her unless they were trying to hurt her. They picked the right line of women to be the doppelgangers, all of them were selfish, self absorbed and cared only about themselves. Well, he was about to knock Elena's sense of self importance down a peg or two.
Elena looked between Damon and Bonnie, an understanding look on her face, "I know that Jeremy and I have hurt the two of you, we are both sorry for that, but that doesn't give you the right to attempt to hurt us both by flaunting your fake relationship." Elena shook her head at the two of them, "I'll forgive you both as long as you end this charade now."
Their was a beat of shocked silence.
Bonnie exploded at Elena, "How dare you suggest that I would use Damon to try and hurt you and Jeremy." She balled her hands into fists and glared, the anger boiling in her veins making the curtains blow with a non existent wind, "That is your deal, Elena! You used to toy with Stefan and Damon's emotions, always pitting one brother against the other and ruining their relationship."
Elena looked shocked that Bonnie exploded at her, "Why are you saying these things to me? You know how conflicted I was at having feelings for both of them."
"No, Elena, you could only get away with being conflicted the first time you chose a brother." Bonnie raised her eyebrow, "Not when you broke Stefan's heart by choosing Damon, and then when he finally finds someone else you suddenly dump Damon and decide you want Stefan."
Elena spluttered helplessly, she had no answer to Bonnie's words.
"Neither of them were going to wait around for you forever." Bonnie's angry expression turned into a gentle smile as she tried one last time to make her see, "Stefan and Rebekah are happy, Damon and I are happy. It is past time that you let them go and move on, Elena."
Caroline finally spoke, lacing her words with meaning as she hadn't spoke to Elena in over a year, "We are not kids anymore, Elena. We don't view our relationships as being the one and lasting forever in a childish way." She stood up and took hold of Elena's hands, "Tyler, Stefan and Jeremy were our first loves, the first all consuming loves we ever had. Our first is the hardest and most painful love to get over. But it does happen, everyday, and we grow into stronger and wiser people because of it." She choked out a laugh, "We've grown up, Elena. We are not those naive girls we used to be, we are women now and have found our true epic loves." She squeezed Elena's hands and smiled at her, "It's time that you did that too." Having said her piece Caroline released Elena's hands and sat back on her bed.
Elena swallowed down the tears painfully, Caroline had got to her, her words not only rang true but also made sense. She had to let go of her childhood loves, even though it was so so painful, she had loved Stefan and Damon with everything that she was, she had thought that they would be there for her forever.
Damon could see that Elena was slowly starting to realize the truth. It was time for him to say his piece and say goodbye to Elena, and the doppelgangers, forever, "Katherine was my first love, I loved her completely and blindly for over a hundred and fifty years. I wished my own brother had died because she had turned him too." He felt shame at that, his biggest regret, throwing away the bond that he and Stefan used to have because of Katherine. They were only just getting back to being brothers again, "I wasted my life, Elena, chasing after a girl that never existed. When I got to know you, you were the girl that I thought Katherine was, and I fell for you. I did truly love you but I was never enough for you." He swallowed, before he admitted a long buried truth, "And you were never quite enough for me. I accepted you as a human and as a vampire, but had you stayed human and we got together I would have turned you sooner or later."
"Against my wishes?" Elena whispered, desperate and afraid of hearing the honest truth.
"Probably." Damon answered, not hiding anything about himself for once, "I am not a good man, Elena, I will always choose what's in my best interest or the best interest of those I love. Whether they hate me for it or not I will always choose to save them by any means necessary." He voice cracked as he confessed, "I never got the chance to save Ric, my best friend, my brother."
Elena felt terrible, she knew Damon missed Alaric but she always assumed that he missed his drinking buddy, she didn't realize that he was mourning the loss of his best friend. She would not pose the question that she couldn't bear to know the answer to, would Damon have chosen to save her or Alaric? Or did he want her saved so that they could lock Alaric away until they found away to cure him of either, vampirism or the brainwashing that made him want to kill them all. She would never know and she never wanted too. Some wounds were too deep to rip open just so she could satisfy her curiosity.
"I love Bonnie, more than I ever loved you." Damon continued, baring his heart and telling the truth, "I am sorry if that hurts to hear but it is the truth." He smiled lovingly at Bonnie, "I fell so hard and fast that by the time I realised my heart was already hers." Seeing that Elena was holding back tears he said one final thing, "I hope that one day we may be able to be friends. A part of me will always love you and be grateful to you for making me who I am. Goodbye, Elena."
The finality of Damon's goodbye broke Elena's heart. She just kept losing everyone that she loved and now she had no one. She couldn't take it anymore, she couldn't be in this room any longer. Without saying another word she fled, tears streaking his face as her heart shattered. There was no one left whom loved her.
Caroline felt sympathy for Elena, she hoped that she listened to all that they'd said to her and that she finally let the Salvatore's go and found her true love. Now more than ever she was grateful that she listened to her heart and gave Klaus a chance. She shuddered at the thought of how long it would have taken her had she still been afraid of her friends opinions.
Bonnie hoped that Elena would take on board what they told her. She didn't want to lose her childhood friendship but for once she was going to be selfish and follow her heart. She always sacrificed everything so that her friends were safe and happy, now it was her turn.
"Well," Damon shrugged his shoulders, "had to run into her eventually." He contemplated their encounter for a moment, "I think it went well."
Caroline laughed, "You would."
"She didn't attempt to rip my throat out," Bonnie giggled, "so... good talk!"
Damon grinned and pulled Bonnie into his arms, "That's my girl!" He lowered his lips to cover hers.
"Seriously!" Caroline groaned as Bonnie and Damon made out. Again.
Matt walked into Caroline's bedroom and stood frozen. Damon and Bonnie were kissing, in a full on passionate embrace. When had those two got together? He turned shocked eyes on Caroline and mouthed, 'What the hell?'
'Later.' Caroline mouthed back. She rolled her eyes as Bonnie and Damon remained oblivious to everything that wasn't each others lips. Clearing her throat loudly she asked, "Wanna watch 'The Incredible Hulk'?"
X
"CAROLINE FORBES!"
Caroline, Matt, Bonnie and Damon were jolted to awareness after they heard the scream of Caroline's name.
Moments later the bedroom door swung open and Rebekah stood with her arms crossed over her chest and a pissed look on her face, "What the hell do you think you are doing?"
"Packing?" Caroline answered from her position laid out on her front on the bed with her chin resting on her hand, Matt was to the right of her, Bonnie on the left and Damon beside her.
Rebekah narrowed her eyes, "You most definitely are not packing! You are with your other friends and are watching..." her eyes bulged as she saw what they were watching, "...HULK! That is one of our movies!"
Stefan appeared behind Rebekah, an indignant look on his face as he noticed Damon on the bed, "Hey! How come Damon was invited to your human packing party and I was not?" He pouted at Caroline, "I am your best friend, Caroline."
Caroline turned to Bonnie, "Told you he pouted."
Bonnie laughed, "I think it's a family trait."
"Hey!" Damon huffed in annoyance, "Mr hero hair over there pouts." He smirked arrogantly, "I smolder."
"Sure you do, honey." Bonnie patted Damon's arm patronisingly while rolling her eyes at Caroline.
Matt was still shocked that Damon and Bonnie were together, "You are seriously together with Damon?"
"Yes, Matt." Bonnie sighed.
"I don't get it." Matt replied. Bonnie and Damon? Damon and Bonnie? Damon Salvatore and Bonnie Bennett? There was just no way that made sense.
"You don't need to get it, Matt." Caroline placed her hand on Matt's hand, "You just need to accept it."
Matt swallowed at Caroline's touch, "Like I had to accept you and Klaus?"
Caroline blinked in shock, "Matt."
"Sorry, sorry." Matt rubbed his hands over his face, "I don't need to get it, I mean, I didn't get it but I do now." He shook his head before repeating, "I have accepted you and Klaus, I know how much you love him whether I like it or not. I am always going to be there for you, Care."
Caroline threw her arm around Matt and held him tight, "Thank you, Matt."
Klaus chose that moment to enter the room, "What is taking you lot so bloody long..." He trailed off at seeing Caroline in another mans arms, "What are you doing with my girl, Donovan?" He growled, wanting to rip Matt's arms off his body.
Matt clenched his jaw, "Talking to my friend." He hated Klaus and he always will, he didn't know what Caroline saw in him but he will support her choice and he will be there for her if it goes wrong.
Klaus glared at Matt, "I suggest you move before I move you."
"Klaus!" Caroline hissed angrily, Klaus had no reason to be jealous of Matt, he knew that she loved him.
Stefan was still miffed as to why Damon was allowed to be there while he was not. Caroline didn't even like Damon, "Why is Damon here?"
"Because of Bonnie." Caroline answered.
"If Bonnie was allowed to bring her boyfriend than why was I not allowed to join you." Klaus actually stuck his lip out, he was honest to god pouting at Caroline.
"Damon was not allowed to come but he came anyway." Caroline raised her brow, "Just like you three did. Where is Kat, Kol and Elijah? I'm surprised they didn't crash my packing party too."
Rebekah stuck her nose up and sniffed, "They were out."
Caroline laughed, she couldn't help it, her makeshift family were so ridiculous sometimes, it was hard to believe they were over a thousand years old.
Rebekah pouted, "Don't laugh at me, Caroline!"
"Oh I'm laughing at all of you." Caroline laughed back, "You are all completely ridiculous." She pointed her finger at Klaus, "I told you that I would be back late." She moved her finger toward Stefan, "I told you that I wanted my human friends here, of course Damon wouldn't listen to that. He's your brother, Stefan, you know better than anyone what he's like." Finally, she pointed her finger in Rebekah's direction, "And you don't need to get upset that I've watched it without you. Remember when I saw 'Breaking Dawn' with Klaus? You got mad, and I told you we could watch it again. The same applies now."
Damon's lips curled into a smirk, "Seriously? You watched those stupid sparkly vampire movies with Caroline?" He snorted, "I read the books when we were together and I would never watch that crap."
"And yet you knew what movie it was just from the title." Klaus smirked back, he was dying to smash his fist into Damon's face.
"Must have been Caroline's late night ramblings." Damon smirked wider and wiggled his eyebrows.
Klaus growled, he was seconds away from pouncing on Damon when his arms were suddenly filled with Caroline. He buried his nose in her neck and breathed in her heavenly scent, "Mine!" He clutched her almost painfully against him, not wanting to ever let her go.
Caroline smiled against Klaus's ear and whispered back, "Yours." She curled her arms around his back and ran her nails along his broad shoulders.
"Great!" Rebekah rolled her eyes as Caroline wrapped herself around Klaus, "We'll be lucky if they ever detach themselves from one another."
"Can we just watch the rest of the movie," Matt spoke finally, "and anyone who wants to watch it can." It could become quite tiresome being around the Original's, all of their petty squabbles made him want to deck the lot of them. He didn't know how Caroline put up with all of them at the same time.
"Fine!" Rebekah agreed and hopped onto the bed beside Matt. She patted the space next to her, "Come here, Stefan."
Stefan grinned, "Do you really think I will fit on there with all of you?" He chuckled as he eyed all of them, "It looks kind of cramped."
Bonnie moved closer to Damon until she was practically underneath him, "There you go, Stefan."
"Thank you, Bonnie." Stefan smiled at Bonnie before sitting beside Rebekah and pulling her into his side.
Not waiting for Caroline and Klaus to join them Matt pressed play. Five minutes later Caroline and Klaus joined everybody on the bed, sitting behind the others.
"That big grey thing is disgusting." Rebekah wrinkled her nose in disgust, "I hope Hulk kills it."
"Abomination." Matt supplied helpfully.
"What?" Klaus growled, ready to rip out Matt's tongue for calling his sister that.
"The grey thing." Matt pointed to the TV screen, "Its name is Abomination."
Satisfied with Matt's answer Klaus went back to stroking Caroline's thigh and nuzzling his nose in her hair. He didn't care what film they watching as long as he had Caroline in his arms, he just wished that her bed wasn't filled to the brim with people.
X
Liz prepared herself to walk into an empty room instead of her daughter's usual bright and lived in room. It was heart breaking that Caroline had finally flew the nest, she's had one foot out the door for the past year as she's spent more and more time at Klaus's. It was inevitable, yet still hard. Her and Bill's baby girl had grown into a wonderful and beautiful woman, and she couldn't be more proud.
Liz opened the door and had to clamp her hand over her mouth. On her daughter's bed in her bare and box filled room were Caroline, Klaus, Stefan, Damon, Bonnie, Matt and Rebekah. They were all asleep, tangled around each other. She had to bite her lip to prevent her laughter escaping. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her smartphone, clicking on the camera she turned off the flash and took a picture.
Liz looked at the photo and grinned. She was definitely printing this one out and getting it framed. She turned off the tv and quietly shut the door behind her. She chuckled all the way to her room and joined the other occupants of her house in sleep.
Until Liz was rudely woken in the morning by shrill screams of...
"Why am I in bed with all of you?"
"Get your hand off my girl, Matt!"
"Same goes to you, brother!"
A thump was heard as someone hit the floor and then growled.
"Klaus!"
"Nik!"
Then laughter was heard from multiple people.
"Do shut up before I kill you all."
Liz chuckled to herself. This was a memory that she would never forget. She decided to get up and start preparing breakfast. She had a whole house full of people to feed.

AN - What did you guys think? It was less about the movie this time but I like it. I hope you all enjoyed it. Sorry it took so long but my other story has had all my attention for the last few months. I can't promise timely updates on this but I will finish it. No matter how long it takes :)
