Episode 107: The Fate of Yugoha Part 3

Vanquishing Crusader, Earth Orbit

Yuni and Seto stare at their fallen comrade Ma'at with shock and horror. Talok declares, "This is why you don't have any hope! The power of Versal is great, and it is all mine! Entire armies have fallen against its powers! What are three minor annoyances compared to them!? Now all that stands in my way is you three, and the last threat to New Yugoha will be wiped from the face of existence for good! Long live New Yugoha, long live Tyria!"

Yuni, while still looking down, states quietly, but confidently, "You're wrong…"

Talok puts his hand to his ear and asks, "What was that? I couldn't quite hear you."

Yuni now looks straight into his eyes and declares much louder, "You're wrong! Seto and I are the incarnations of the legendary Princes of Yugoha! The reason we even exist is to stop the likes of you! We were chosen to wield the Weapons of Yugoha, and all the power they grant! This duel is far from over, and Ma'at's sacrifice will not be in vain! We will defeat you and restore Yugoha to its former glory, as well as protect the planet that we call home!"

Seto adds, "I may not have believed any of this only months ago, but what the past couple of weeks have taught me is that I can no more deny my destiny! I will stop you, for I am not only the reincarnation of Prince Seto of Yugoha, but I am also Seto Ossius of Earth! Many before have made the mistake of opposing me, and yet I'm the one who still stands! It may not yet be clear how I will defeat you, but mark my words, I will!"

Talok, somewhat annoyed by Yuni and Seto's determination, states, "Well then, why don't you just show me how (Talok's hand: 6)? Oh, and by the way, with one more soul in its repository, the Malevolent Soul Engine of Tyria now grants extra attack to Versal, the Reality Lord (Divine/Level 10/Divine-Beast/ATK ? ? ? ?/DEF ? ? ? ?) (ATK and DEF: 25605)!" Yuni looks at Talok with hatred.

Yuni draws. He looks at his hand and thinks, I don't know what to do. I've pulled out all my tricks already, and with only one card in my hand, there isn't much else I can do. I may have just spoken a big game, but can I really back it up? He looks up at Versal. Besides, even if I could do something, Versal's Sphere of Influence effect would just shut it down.

Yugi asserts, You know as well as I do that answers don't always come easily. Now come on, let's batten down the hatches and get this duel moving.

Yuni nods. "I activate the effect of Wisdom of Yugoha Chronoton Staff and increase the turn count by two, granting my Aeon, the Cyber-Tech Magician Guardian of Yugoha (Dark/Level 10/Spellcaster/Evolution/ATK 2500/DEF 2100) (ATK: 6000) with an additional 1000 attack points (ATK: 7000). I activate Aeon's effect, allowing me to add a Cyber-Tech Spellbook card to my hand. I then set two cards and end my turn, at which points Aeon gains yet another 1000 attack points (ATK: 8000) (Yuni's hand: 0)."

Talok states, "It would appear that the Yugohan Prince is all bark and no bite! You make tremendous claims, but then fail to back them up! I must say, while I knew that when this day came I would undoubtedly win, I had always thought you would put up more of a fight."

Seto shouts, "You want a fight!? I'll give you one!" He draws. "I activate Pot of the Cosmos! Since I have no other cards in my hand, by banishing two level five or higher monsters from my graveyard, such as my two Plasma Raiders, I can draw three cards!" Seto draws. "Now I activate Anti-Negation Area! This card prevents any effects that would negate other cards from activating this turn, including cards that would negate it! That means your Sphere of Influence is useless this turn!"

Talok taunts, "A handy card, but still useless."

"We'll see about that! I activate Cosmic Sneak Attack! Since you control the highest level monster on the field, this card allows one of my Cosmic or Plasma monsters to attack you directly! Now Cosmic Magnetar Cannon, the Dragon Guardian of Yugoha (Light/Level 11/Dragon/Evolution/ATK 4300/DEF 4300) (Level: 1), attack Talok directly, Gravity Crush Cannon!" Seto's dragon launches a massive burst of energy from its back cannon that hits Talok directly (Talok's LP: 1500).

Talok grimaces. "I don't appreciate that at all."

Seto counters arrogantly, "You said that you wanted a fight."

Yuni congratulates, "Good job Seto, his life points are lower than both of ours now!"

Talok looks at Yuni. "Celebrate all you want, but don't forget that my life points are only so low because I wanted them to be. You and your pathetic friends have merely scratched me. Besides, my life points matter little when I have a monster as powerful as Versal on my side."

Seto states, "No one goes up against Seto Ossius and walks out unharmed. I think that it is you who is in over your head." Seto sets the last card in his hand. "I have confidence that Yuni and I will win (Seto's hand: 0)."

In the engine room of the New Yugohan flagship, Brutus, Tori, Lux, and Nox lie on the floor unconscious. Otto is nowhere to be seen. Brutus stirs. He moans and grumbles something unintelligible and then slowly opens his eyes. Upon realizing where he is, he quickly springs up and looks around in confusion. He runs over to Tori, and shakes her. "Come on Tori, wake up!"

Tori slowly comes to. She asks in confusion, "Huh, what happened?"

At this point, Lux and Nox are regaining consciousness as well. Brutus looks around and answers, "I'm not really sure myself."

Tori gets up, as do Lux and Nox. Tori states, "The last thing I remember was when we entered this room…and then nothing."

Brutus nods. "That's what I remember."

Lux suggests, "We must have triggered some sort of security system that rendered us unconscious."

Nox wonders, "Then why haven't any guards been alerted of our presence yet?"

Tori suggests, "Maybe they're too busy with the Invasion to care about a breach of four people."

Brutus states, "If that's the case, we got really lucky."

Tori looks around. "We seem to be in some sort of engine room."

As she's just starting to observe the room, a noise is heard from up above. Brutus jumps in shock and asks, "Guys, what was that?"

Muffled speech can then be heard. Lux and Nox get in front of Brutus and Tori and get in a ready stance. Suddenly the cover over a nearby air vent on the roof falls out, and a body jumps down from it. It's Celestia. She is quickly followed by Cosmo.

Tori gasps, "It's Cosmo and Celestia!"

The two are followed by Trope and his strike team. Lux and Nox bow, and both say, "Master Trope, we did not expect to see you here."

Trope laughs. "Imagine running into you four here of all places. We heard you from up there and thought you were some soldiers we were going to have to ambush."

Brutus says, "Yeah, we thought the same."

Trope asks, "What are you doing here, and where is Lord Ragnarok?"

Tori answers, "We had to split up from Yuni, Seto, and Ma'at to increase our chances of finding the Emperor's Chambers. We ended up here."

Cosmo asks, "Yuni is heading to the Emperor's Chambers!?" Brutus and Tori nod. "We have to get there, now!"

Brutus asks, "Why, what's wrong?"

Cosmo answers with urgency, "He's walking right into a trap! Emperor Talok wants to face him there!"

Celestia adds, "He wishes to destroy both Yuni and Seto. We have to help them!"

Cosmo rushes towards the door. "Come on everyone, I know the most direct route there!" Everyone follows him out.

Talok states, "My power is greater than you could ever comprehend!" He draws. Upon seeing the card he has drawn, he smiles devilishly. "I activate Gifts from the Divine! This card increases my own life points by the number of attack points of one of my monsters!" Versal begins to glows, and energy transfers from it to Talok (Talok's LP: 27105). Yuni and Seto are speechless. Talok laughs. "Yes, so much for all of that progress you've made! My life points are now higher than ever! You just lost your last hope of victory!" Talok looks over Yuni and Seto, almost with pleasure. "Now Versal, let's try attacking Yuni one more time! Galaxy Cannon!"

Yuni counters, "I'll be defending myself this time! Go, Cyber-Tech Spellbook of Defense! This card counters all damage I would take in a battle involving a Cyber-Tech Magician monster!" Yuni looks to his magician, "Thank you for your sacrifice, I'm sorry that I couldn't protect you as well."

The magician looks at Yuni and nods in understanding. With strength and determination, it turns to face Versal and the spellbook appears in its hand. Defiantly, it casts a spell, creating a barrier around Yuni. Versal launches its attack and incinerates Aeon. The shockwave however causes no damage to Yuni, as he is protected by Aeon's final act.

Seto, regaining his confidence, laughs. "It looks like we're not through yet."

Talok also laughs. "That's where you're wrong. That was only round one. You have yet to witness round two!"

Yuni and Seto both ask, "Round two!?"

"From my hand, I activate the effect of Interdimensional Emperor, which allows me to banish the three Interdimensional Invaders from my grave in order to summon it during the Battle Phase (Dark/Level 7/Fiend/Effect/ATK 2600/DEF 2300)!" From a dimensional portal steps a solitary figure. It is monstrous and grotesque, bearing a similarity to the Interdimensional Invaders.

Seto states, "That will never do anything against us. Even attacking Yuni directly won't do enough damage, and then I'll just destroy your monster on my next turn!"

"My monster is only weaker than yours for now! Just wait until I Evolve it!"

Yuni scoffs, "Evolve it!? During the middle of the Battle Phase! That's not possible!"

"Young Yuni, you obviously do not know what is and is not possible when it comes to the power of Tyria! I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card, Celestial Advancement: Onslaught of Tyria!"

Yuni and Seto gasp. Yuni shouts, "A Quick-Play Celestial Advancement card!?"

"That's right, and now I Evolve the Interdimensional Emperor!" Despite the unorthodox scenario, Talok's monster begins to evolve like any other Celestial Evolution would. "I summon Interdimensional Deity (Dark/Level 9/Fiend/Evolution/ATK 2600/DEF 2300)!" The monster that is summoned can only be described as a lovecraftian horror. It is a massive and grotesque creature. It is monstrous in size and proportions, and sprouts tentacles from its body at various locations. "I activate the effect of Interdimensional Deity! By banishing a monster I control, it can gain all of its attack power!"

Yuni is utterly shocked. "You…wouldn't…"

"Oh but I would, and I am! Interdimensional Deity, absorb Versal, the Reality Lord!" Several tentacles lash out of the monster and wrap around Versal. It pulls in the Yugohan Lord. Versal roars in pain, but can't escape. It is absorbed by the behemoth. After a few moments, a grotesque version of Versal's upper torso emerges out of the monster's stomach (ATK: 27905).

Yuni shouts, "You're crazy! Versal is the god of Yugoha, and you just used it as sacrifice! Do you have any respect!?"

"I am not crazy, I do what it takes to win! Versal is not my god, merely a tool, a means to an end! And now I have improved upon the power of a god!" Talok beckons to his monster, "And let's not forget, I have yet to apply the extra power from the Soul Engine (ATK: 33010)! I think that Yuni has gotten too much attention. Interdimensional Deity, attack Seto! Interdimensional Galaxy Cannon!" The section of the monster that has become Versal's torso charges for an attack similar to that of Versal's.

Yuni shouts, "Seto!"

Seto looks at Yuni, with nothing but defiance on his face. "Don't worry about me Yuni." He looks back towards Talok and declares, "I refuse to go out like this! Seto Ossius goes out on his own terms! I activate Life Force Relay! Now I can pay any multiple of 1000 life points, and have a player of my choice draw one card for each one! Yuni, draw four cards (Seto's LP: 0)!" Talok's monster attacks and destroys Seto's dragon, but Seto has already lost.

Yuni shouts once more, "Seto!"

Seto falls to the ground in weakness. He looks up to Yuni, with the same look in his eyes. "It looks like I won't be around to finish this guy off...make sure you beat him good Yuni, just like you did to me all that time ago…" He then laughs. "It's kind of funny…I used to never believe in all of that Yugohan stuff…but now I can't help but think that the galaxy is now down to only one Yugohan Prince…I guess that that solves that problem…the kingdom is yours Yuni…"

"Seto…"

"And don't you dare waste those cards I let you draw…put them to good use…or…I'll have to haunt you…" Seto grins awkwardly.

Yuni nods. He draws the four cards. "I've got them Seto. I won't let them go to waste. I will win this duel, I swear."

Seto nods. "That's good enough for me." With that, the barrier closes in on him and he cries out in pain. Seto falls. His soul is pulled into the Soul Engine, which increases Talok's monster's power (ATK: 33011)

Talok begins to laugh in triumph. "Who would have thought that after 20,000 years, it would be I who finally conquered the great Yugohan Prince Seto!? I shall go down in history as Talok, Slayer of the Princes and Hero of New Yugoha!" He looks at Yuni. "With your two partners down and not a single monster on your field, there's nothing to stop me from defeating you now. You have one more turn Prince Yu-Gi-Oh!" Talok laughs. "And just to further cement my inevitable victory, I activate Dimensional Blockade! This card will prevent you from attacking at all next turn (Talok's hand: 3)!" A vortex opens up behind Yuni, and projects a barrier around him.

Yuni looks to his side and sees Seto and Ma'at's bodies on the ground. He looks up Talok and his imposter Versal. Behind Talok, the New Yugohan fleet is displayed on a screen. It has now reached Mars. Yuni thinks, The fate of not just myself, not just a planet, but nearly the entire galaxy all rests upon this next draw...all on me…

Yugi states, No, I'm with you all the way, and you're far from being alone. Seto and Ma'at, Brutus and Tori, Cosmo and Celestia, they're all behind you.

You're right. And I will not fail them. I will not fail the Earth. I will not fail Yugoha! He declares aloud with determination, "I will win! I will create another hope!"Yuni holds his arm towards the roof. Despite not declaring a Chaos Draw, Yuni's hand and deck glow, but this time a brilliant gold light. Yuni draws. The card is Another Hope. At first it has no text, as normal, but then a wave of similar golden light washes over, and an effect appears on the card. For a moment Yuni is surprised. I never put this card in my deck…and its effect is different than it was last time I used it!

Yugi suggests, This is the moment of truth, the moment you were destined to use that card! Use it and claim victory!

Yuni declares, "I have just drawn the card that will win this duel!"

For a moment, Talok is shocked, but he quickly hides it. "What could you possibly do? You're all alone!"

"Look again Talok!" A light surrounds Yuni.

Talok looks closely and then recoils with surprise. "That's not possible!" On either side of Yuni is the spirits of Seto and Ma'at. "Your souls are in my Soul Engine!"

Ma'at says, "I wouldn't miss this moment for anything."

Seto states, "I've got to make sure Yuni doesn't waste my sacrifice."

Yuni explains, "You may have taken their souls, but I've pulled them back with the power of Yugoha!"

Talok demands, "What do you mean 'the power of Yugoha!?'"

Yuni activates Another Hope. "I mean this, Another Hope! True to its name, Another Hope was created to provide hope when there is none!"

Talok's eyes go wide. "That's not possible! Zenith told me that Another Hope only has the power to split cards, which will do you no good!" He then decides to not take any chances. "It doesn't matter, I'll destroy that hope! What I didn't tell you before, the Interdimensional Deity also gains the effect of the monster it absorbed! I pay 1000 life points to negate Another Hope (Talok's LP: 26105)!"

Yuni declares, "No, I activate my facedown card, Negate Negation! This card negates a card effect that would negate another card effect!" Talok's effect is negated.

Ma'at cheers, "Good job Yuni!"

Seto nods. "I couldn't have done better myself."

Talok begins to look nervous. He quickly shakes it off. "It doesn't matter, you still couldn't possibly defeat my monster!"

"Let's find out!" Yuni looks to Another Hope. "Last time I activated Another Hope, it had the power to split one into many, now it has the power to turn many into one!" Behind Yuni appears Chronos and Quantus.

Talok asks, "You're going to combine Chronos and Quantus!?"

"Look again, they're not all!" Talok looks up, only to realize that behind them is Versal as well. He looks more shocked than ever. Yuni chants, "Gods of Time, Space, and Reality, form into your totality! Three thirds combine into a whole, reform the Original Soul! Reveal your greater scope, and form Another Hope!" It appears as if the very space-time fabric wraps itself around the three Yugohan Lords. After engulfing them, that pocket of space twists and distorts. It then stretches and grows, actually increasing the height of the room itself. The spatial pocket opens and a massive entity of light emerges. Space remains warped around it, allowing it to fit in the room. "Lend me your power and defeat this enemy of Yugoha, Empyrean, the Sovereign Genesis Lord (Divine/Level 12/Creator God/Effect/ATK ∞/DEF ∞)!" The glow somewhat subsides, allowing the monster's features to be made out. It is indescribably large. While it is humanoid in form, it seems superficial to apply such a term. It wears gold and silver armor, seemingly inspired by Chronos' serpentine shape, wings, similar to Versal's, and a helmet similar to Quantus' head. It glows a rainbow light.

Talok is speechless. "That's…not…possible…"

"What, that I've gotten a monster more powerful than yours?"

"No…there has always been myth of a god greater than even Versal…but no one ever really believed it…this is the original Yugohan Lord…"

"This isn't even the end of it! Thanks to the cards Seto let me draw, I activate Destined Reincarnation! Now by discarding three cards from my hand, I can return any card from my grave to my hand. I'll bring back Another Hope and activate it once more! I combine the Wisdom of Yugoha: Chronoton Staff-"

Seto picks up, "With the Strength of Yugoha: Graviton Cannon-"

Ma'at continues, "And the Endurance of Yugoha: Higgs Boson Shield!"

Yuni finishes, "In order to create a new Weapon of Yugoha! I equip Empyrean with the Legacy of Yugoha: Singularity Cloak!" A cloak made of pure light is equipped to the god. "The power of the Singularity Cloak is so great, that it can even go back in time and negate effects that you activated earlier, such as the Dimensional Blockade!" Another space-time distortion appears, this one in the location of where the Dimensional Blockade was when it was activated. The card appears in the rift, and then shatters. The barrier around Yuni and the vortex behind him disappear as if they were never there in the first place.

Talok mouths in despair, "No…"

Yuni begins, "Now Empyrean, attack the Interdimensional Deity-"

Seto and Ma'at join in and they all declare, "Cosmic Origin Bang!" Empyrean raises its arms slightly and begins to glow intensely. The fabric of space in the center of Interdimensional Deity twists in on itself, creating a singularity. The monster then implodes into this singularity, and after a quick moment, explodes in a tremendous flash of light and energy, describable only as a second Big Bang. The resulting explosion wipes out all 26,000 of Talok's life points (Talok's LP: 0).

Talok falls to his knees. "No…this…isn't…possible…" The Soul Engine's barrier begins to encroach on him.

Yuni declares, "Yugoha is no longer yours! Today New Yugoha falls!"

Talok realizes what this means. "No! I was so close! I was going to be the greatest of New Yugohan Emperors!" He closes his eyes in anger and shouts, "My empire!" He looks at Yuni with rage and shouts, "This is all your fault!" He leaps at Yuni, as if to attack, but slams right into the barrier of the Soul Engine. He convulses and cries out in pain. His last words are, "Curse you Yu-Gi-Oh!" and then his body goes limp. The Soul Engine disappears.

Seto and Ma'at's souls look at Yuni, nod in appreciation, and then float towards their bodies, recombining with them. Slowly, both of them wake up. They are both speechless. Yuni looks up, still behind him is Empyrean. Yuni says, "Thank you. Without your help, I never would have won."

In a majestic voice, Empyrean responds, "My power will always be available to those who are worthy, and I will always serve Yugoha, the true Yugoha."

Yuni nods. "As will I." The spatial warp around Empyrean engulfs it once more, shrinks down, and then lets back out the three Yugohan Lords. They each roar, and then disappear. A card appears in Yuni's hand. It's Versal, the Reality Lord.

The voice of Versal says to Yuni telepathically, I will be there for you or Seto to call upon when in the greatest need, but as neither of you have yet to settle your feud over Yugoha, I cannot remain with either one of you until it is settled.

Yuni nods. I understand.

And to Ma'at, I grant you a gift. The card disappears again. As it disappears, a small light appears where it once was. That light flies towards Ma'at, entering his body, completing the soul that has been segmented since Thoth lost it.

Ma'at remain silent for a few moments, and then states, "It's…as if I feel whole for the first time…"

Just then, the doors to the chamber open, and Brutus, Tori, and the rest of the group enter. Seto looks over and notices Celestia, as she notices him. In the heat of the moment, she exclaims, "Seto!" and runs towards him.

Seto, also caught in the moment, shouts back, "Celestia!" The two embrace lovingly. They quickly realize that Seto is not the same Seto Celestia fell in love with, and they awkwardly back off, blushing.

The group look around, and notice Talok on the floor. Brutus jokingly asks, "What did we miss?"

Yuni answers, "Ma'at, Seto, and I just defeated the New Yugohan Emperor."

Cosmo and Celestia step forward and observe the body. Cosmo, who is almost speechless, says in disbelief, "It's over…it's all over…New Yugoha will fall without their emperor."

Celestia exclaims, "And Yugoha can return!"

Seto says, "I hate to remind you, but there's still an invasion fleet heading towards Earth. This isn't over yet."

Cosmo shakes his head. "No, it is." He walks over to what seems to be a communication station on the side of the room and beckons for Yuni and Seto to join him. "I presume that you took Versal back from him, correct?" Yuni nods. Cosmo turns to the station and activates it. He hands a microphone-like device to Yuni. "You two need to address the fleet as the Princes of Yugoha. Tell them that Versal has returned to the rightful heirs of Yugoha, and they will listen."

Seto scoffs, "What makes you think that? These are the enemy we're talking about."

"In the recent millennia, the people have grown discontent with New Yugoha, most citizens longed for the return of the Princes of Legend to free them from oppression. They only followed Talok because he had Versal. Now take your rightful place, and address your people."

Yuni nods and grabs the microphone. Cosmo activates it. Yuni takes a deep breath and declares, "People of New Yugoha, I am Prince Yu-Gi-Oh reincarnated."

Seto adds, "And I am the reincarnation of Prince Seto."

Yuni continues, "We have defeated your emperor, as well your Grand Admiral. Versal is now on our side."

Seto picks up, "The tyranny of New Yugoha and the Tyrians is over. Old Yugoha will rise from the ashes."

"If you are with us, then turn your ship around. Earth is no longer a target. I am so sorry that we have left you to suffer for all of these years, but we are back, and we will never abandon you again."

They wait a few moments. Suddenly, a female voice comes over the communicator and says, "This is Fleet Captain Xixi. I'm with you." The next few moments are filled with various voices declaring their loyalty to Yuni and Seto. It eventually erupts into them chanting, "Long live Yugoha, long live the Princes!" Yuni and Seto looks to each other and nod.

Cosmo waits for a moment and says, "Celestia and I will travel to the capital world and spread word of your return, and the fall of New Yugoha. We will herald the arrival of a new age, and ensure that the empire is ready for you two when you return."

Yuni and Seto nod. Yuni says, "Thank you. I know that the empire is in good hands."

Brutus says, "Now come on, what are we waiting here for? Let's get home, I think I'm getting space sick…" Everyone laughs.

Yuni's House, Domino City, Earth

It's nighttime. Yuni is lying on the roof of his house, the same place that he had his first conversation with Yugi. He's staring up at the night sky, taking in the view of the stars above. He thinks, And to think, only a year ago, we thought that we were alone in the universe, and now here we are, I'm the heir to an alien empire spanning the stars.

Yugi responds, It's funny how life sneaks up on you like that.

How many of those stars do you think have a planet with life orbiting them?

I'm certain more than you could count.

They remain silent for a few more moments. Yuni watches a shooting star cross the sky. It's crazy that it's all over.

What do you mean?

I mean what I said. Almost a year ago - has it really not even been a year? - we set off on a journey, one that threw us into our destiny. Now it's all over. He pulls off his holo-locket, removes Another Hope from it, and activates the hologram. He looks at the picture of his parents and the card. We've discovered the purpose of my parents' card, we've used it to save Yugoha, and protected the Balance of Chaos along the way. We've fulfilled the prophecy.

Yugi says dubiously, I don't know Yuni, sometimes life can be like a game of chess; one moment you're calling check, the next your opponent is calling checkmate. Another shooting star passes by. Both watch in silence.

The End…?

A room obscured by shadows is seen. The hum of a New Yugohan transporter is heard, and Otto materializes in the middle. He casually strolls over to a table holding his chessboard. He moves the white king so it takes out the black queen. He comments, "So the Queen's Gambit did not work. It matters little, for in the end, the queen was just another pawn." He turns around and faces a shelf holding all of the artifacts he has "collected" over the past year. He pulls out something new. It is a Malevolent Soul Engine of Tyria card. "And now I have collected 100,000 souls, the cost to perform the ritual. It won't be long now. Enjoy your reprieve Yu-Gi-Oh and Seto, there's a darkness coming, one that will destroy you and all you hold dear. Come next Winter Solstice, the galaxy will be mine, and Earth shall be my throne!" Otto begins to laugh malevolently. He declares, "Black king to white king four! Checkmate!"
