NO ONE'S POINT OF VIEW!

Alec lived a long and happy life with Magnus, going on lots of adventures, in between hunting, of course.

They went to Paris, Mexico, Italy, Rome, Hawaii, and lots other destinations. Alec had a great career in shadowhunting too. There were a few life or death situations, but Alec and the rest of the crew always pulled through. But, everybody has to go someday. Today was Alec's day.

Alec was laying on their bed in the apartment and Magnus was sitting curled around him. To any other normal person, one would have thought it was odd to see an young man with his arms lovingly wrapped around an old man. But to the Shadowhunters at the institute, It was just Magnus and Alec.

So today was mostly like any other day. Except that Alec couldn't get out of bed. He was too old anD sick. Magnus had one hand stroking Alec's hair and the other across Alec's stomach, holding his hand. Simon, Jace, and Clary had come by earlier, each telling stories about Alec when he was young and strong, as that was their tradition. Izzy herself had passed away last spring.

Clary gave Alec a kiss on the forehead before she left the room wiping her eyes clinging to Jace, who was rubbing her shoulder with Simon behind them until it was just Magnus and Alec again. Magnus whispered of adventures they had never shared with anyone else. They each spoke of the time when Alec had almost died from a demon attack and Magnus had nearly gone insane trying to fix him. They talked of those secret stories until Alec had fallen asleep.

They had gotten married 40 years back but never had any kids because Alec didn't want to leave Magnus and his kids alone should he die on a hunt. Magnus respected his decision and never argued about it since the first time it was brought up.

"Alec, darling," Magnus said when Alec woke up, maybe for the last time.

"Hi, love," Alec had taken to calling him that after a month long trip to England. He put his hand on Magnus's cheek and smiled. Alec took a deep, rattling breath, like he was having trouble breathing.

"I don't want you to leave, baby. Please, don't go. Don't go where I can't follow." Magnus leaned into Alec's touch and a tear slipped out and into the sheet.

"I know, Magnus, I know." Alec kissed him lightly on the mouth and leaned back against the pillows.

"I love you," A tear slipped out and landed in Alec's lap. Alec was having a harder and harder time breathing and Magnus knew it would be soon. Alec would be taken from him and Magnus would be all alone. He doesn't know what he will do when Alec's gone. His whole life is Alec, just Alec.

"Love you," Alec said, no longer able to form complete sentences. He sat up and slid his thumb across Magnus's cheekbone, then he relaxed back into the pillows, his eyes never leaving Magnus's until they closed forever. Then, just like that, Alec was gone, the small smile that was on his face wiped away by death.

The tears were falling freely now. Magnus bowed his head and the sob that had been building in his throat finally escaped. It was loud and ugly in the deafening silence. It hurt so bad to know that Alec was gone, gone forever and Magnus couldn't do anything about it.

He would never see his precious shadowhunter again. He went where Magnus couldn't follow. Immortal people don't go to heaven.

Magnus stayed there for a few more minutes, then the Silent Brothers came to take Alec's body to prepare him for the cremation.

He called Tessa first. He was a mess and she could barely understand him.

"Okay, Magnus, it'll be alright. I'm on my way now."

So, while Tessa was on her way, Magnus called and told everyone who was dear to Alec.

After informing everyone of Alec's death he called Alec's cell. Of course, he didn't answer, but Magnus just wanted to hear his voice.

"Hey, it's Alec, you know what to do"
-beep-

He almost broke down in sobs when he heard Alec's voice. Magnus ended the call and sat down in the middle of hallway, where he went to make the phone calls, and put his head in his hand.

Ten minutes later, Tessa arrived. She walked in and found him sitting in the same spot he was after he called her. Tessa squatted down in front of him and took his hands away from his tear-streaked face. His hair wasn't up and he was wearing one of Alec's t-shirts and black sweatpants.

He looked up at her, she hadn't changed much since he saw her a few months ago. She was pretty close to the shadowhunters at the institute after moving to New York permanently after Jace and Clary's wedding.

"Hey, look at me," she said to Magnus softly. He did.

"You'll get through this. You helped me with Will and now it's my turn to help you with Alec," Tessa put her arms around him and he leaned into her, crying again. She ran her hand up and down his arm in a soothing motion.

He cried and cried over the course of hours, Tessa not moving until he was finished.

15 YEARS LATER

Magnus was writing a letter to Alec. It was their anniversary, April 5th. Ever since Alec's death Magnus had written a letter to him, but left it unsent. He told him about everything that had happened that year and every letter he told Alec how much he missed him and that he loved him. Magnus had never stopped loving Alec and at first, Magnus let Tessa help him. He never moved from that apartment, not able to bear leaving all of the memories that he still remembered.

Over time, Magnus's memories of Alec started to fade. He could no longer remember the way Alec looked at him when he thought Magnus wasn't looking, or the way his eyes always lit up when he told a story or talked about something he loved, but he never took Alec's Lightwood ring off of his finger. Magnus kept Alec's wedding ring on a chain around his neck. He didn't want to forget Alec, but eventually he had to overcome the agony of the loss.

Magnus never fully forgot him, but he had to move on. He

Magnus's letter

Dear Alexander,
Today is our anniversary. I write to you every year on April 5th and I have never missed a year. I just miss you, that's all. You don't know how much I long to hear your voice again, to feel your touch, or to have the taste of your mouth on my lips. I still wear your Lightwood ring and keep your engagement ring around my neck. It is the only way I have to feel close to you.

It's been so long, Alec, and still, all I want is to touch you again, to have you back with me even though it's been 20 years, but twenty years isn't very long in the life of a warlock. Since you left, the days have gotten longer, so have the years.Oh, Alec, no one has any idea how much I miss you.
I met a boy today. He has black hair and blue eyes, just like you. He's cute. I think I might stay with him. This letter isn't very long, but I don't have anything else to say. The years are boring without you, Alec.

I love youI love youI love you

Your love,

Magnus B.

When I was writing this I almost cried twice. This gave me so many feels. I hope you guys like it and liked my story! Thanks for all your support and appreciation!
