A/N: Thanks a lot to those people who helped me to get over my writer's block (even though it was more like writer's laziness) :)

Anyway, on a scale from one to ten, how surprised would you be if I told you that this is actually the last chapter? Haha, woooo, surprise bitches~

Ahh, enough of this! Let's go on :)

Chapter Six: Opposites Attract

Law was nervous. Damn nervous, actually. And he honestly couldn't remember the last time someone had made him feel that way.

For the past thirty minutes he had repeatedly checked his appearance in the mirror. He just couldn't help but run his tattooed fingers through his black, silky hair every time he looked at his own reflection, occasionally tugging on the sleeves of his dark grey shirt that matched his equally grey colored eyes perfectly. He knew that he was far from looking bad tonight - He had spent lots of effort into looking especially good today after all.

A low sigh escaped Law's parted lips as he realized what he had been doing the entire day. All if this made absolutely no sense to him and it sounded stupid on so many levels. Why was he making such a big deal out of the whole situation? Just because Luffy was coming over? Was that really a legitimate reason act like a dumbass? Law was convinced that the other man would probably show up wearing a shirt with food stains from his last meal on it, so why was he making such a fuss about this?

Law paced through his bedroom from one side to the other, like a tiger in a cage, completely lost in his thoughts. He had scanned every room with his eyes at least ten times, checking if everything was perfectly in place. And of course it was - Law couldn't stand any kind of mess and always kept everything in his apartment clean. He looked at the clock on his wall rather impatiently, feeling a little wave of nervousness racing through his body as the long hand moved. The echoing tik-tok sound of the clock sounded more like hammering to him in the deafening silence of his apartment.

Yes, Luffy was coming over. Any minute now. Well, only if he was on time, and Law could actually bet all of his fortune that Luffy won't. Hell, it wouldn't even shock him if Luffy had completely forgotten about the whole thing. But still, Law couldn't ignore the fact that the anticipation was making him feel like some insecure teenager waiting for his first date to arrive.

Law sat down on his large bed, feeling the soft mattress dipping gently under his weight. He rested his elbows on his thighs and placed his chin on the palms of both hands. Everything about this seemed so strange to him. And no matter how hard he tried, his mind couldn't come up with a satisfying answer to where exactly the problem lied. Law'd had numerous of people over at his place in the past, but never in his life had he ever felt this nasty feeling in his stomach. Had he eaten something rotten or what was this all about?

His mind quickly came up with an answer that caused Law to grit his teeth in utter frustration: Luffy.

No matter what the problem was, Luffy seemed to be the answer to almost every problem that Law had to deal with recently. Why was he lacking concentration at work? Because of Luffy. Why did it take him such a long time to fall asleep at night? Because of Luffy. Why did he feel the need to throw up every time he thought back of his time at Dressrosa? Because of a certain goddamn, cheeky and obnoxious teenager named Luffy.

Law lowered his body on his bed and stared at the ceiling, feeling like a lovesick idiot. He had tried to deny the fact that he had feelings for Luffy so often that he couldn't even count the numbers of it. This boy was exactly the opposite of himself. Luffy was constantly smiling, cracking dumb jokes even during the most inappropriate situations, never taking anything serious in his life, annoying the shit out of people and he was really, really hard to forget.

Law gulped. Luffy had, as a matter of fact, everything that Law was lacking. And that made him so desirable to Law, so horribly fascinating.

The dark-haired man was sure: The world was playing a cruel, cruel joke on him.

And all of sudden, the loud sound of a bell ringing interrupted his thoughts.

Law's body shot up from his bed as if something had bitten him. He immediately looked at the clock on his wall and realized that it was only a few minutes after eight.

This couldn't be Luffy. There was no way. Luffy was not a man who would be perfectly in time. But then again, Law never got any uninvited visitors, so the only logical explanation for this was that the man waiting at his door was in fact the nineteen-year old. His heart began to race as his mind began to progress the information.

After only a few more seconds, the bell started ringing two times in a row. Law rolled his eyes, feeling his previous nervousness slowly being replaced by annoyance. Luffy hadn't even entered his apartment yet and he had already found a way to get on Law's nerves with his constant ringing.

The bell rang again and now Law was convinced: The person waiting for him was Luffy. No one else would ring four times in twenty seconds.

Deciding he didn't want to hear more of that nerve-wrecking sound, Law got up from his bed and walked with large steps towards the door. The second he arrived, he raised his right tattooed hand and moved it towards the knob, only to let it rest there. Luffy was behind that door and only this large, wooden object was separating him from the other man. Law stared at the door, feeling like he was burning a hole through it with his gaze. He felt his palm getting a little bit more sweaty and his body was again feeling uncomfortably strange. What was he even supposed to say to Luffy? Should he simply confess what he was feeling? Should he try to lure him into something again? Just to make things easier?

Law shook his head. He was so damn displeased with himself right now. Why the hell was he acting so much like a coward? With a determined nod to himself, Law inhaled one last time to calm down his heart and opened the door.

When he opened the door, Law was seriously not surprised at all.

Luffy stood there, a big grin on his face. His hair was unkempt and wild as usual. He was wearing a red vest that was neatly buttoned up - only the stain that looked a little bit like ketchup on the right side of it ruined it a little bit, but it was not that big anyway and had almost the identical color to the teen's clothing. His slim legs were hidden underneath simple blue shorts that looked just like the ones Luffy was wearing at their first encounter.

Luffy looked like he hadn't even looked at himself in the mirror before he went out of the house. And it didn't surprise Law. Not one tiny bit.

"Thanks for inviting me over." Luffy said, snapping Law out of his thoughts. For a few moments he wondered if Luffy had noticed him staring at the younger man like an idiot for such a long time without saying anything, but he knew he didn't have the time to think about that right now. He didn't want to let Luffy know what he was currently feeling when the other one acted completely normal.

"I'm surprised you're so early." Law commented simply and opened the door a little wider for Luffy to allow him to enter his apartment when in fact the twenty-two-year old wanted nothing more than to slam the door shut right in Luffy's face.

Luffy peeked his head inside Law's apartment and his round, dark eyes widened in amazement. "Woah, what the hell?!" Law raised a questioning eyebrow and was just about to ask the teen what was wrong with him when he was suddenly pushed to the side by an over-eager Luffy who entered his apartment without waiting one more second. "Shit, Law! This place is huge!" Luffy gasped, his eyes wide. "Do you really live here alone?"

Law closed the front door with a quiet click, shoved his hands into the pockets of his light blue jeans, and began strolling towards the younger man, who was seemingly too distracted by the view to notice the taller man. "Of course." He said.

"Damn, you're one seriously spoiled guy." Luffy turned his head around to give Law a wide grin after he was finished drinking in the sight in front of him.

"I'm not spoiled, moron. Unlike most other people I actually spent my college years studying instead of goofing around." Law responded.

However, the younger teen didn't show any signs of listening to Law as his eyes continued to scan the area. "Your living room is easily three times the size of my room, kitchen and bathroom combined."

"Yeah, whatever," Law commented. Suddenly, he noticed a trail of dirt on the floor that went straight to where Luffy was standing. "Take off your shoes, you're-"

"You even have a balcony?!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly, ignoring Law completely, and sprinted towards where Law's balcony was.

The surgeon sighed. Somehow this entire situation made him felt like he was a goddamn babysitter to a hyper kid. But still, a part of him was thankful that Luffy was making everything so much easier for him at the moment. The younger man acted so casual around Law that for a moment the older man had actually forgotten his previous nervousness.

With one last sigh Law followed after him, silently praying that Luffy wasn't going to act like this the whole damn evening.

He stepped on the balcony and shivered slightly when the cold air ghosted over his skin. The winter was definitely coming, considering how cold and dark it already was. Something in the depths of Law's mind was not happy about the fact that Luffy was only wearing a vest as he stood on the balcony, leaning against the railing and watching the cars from above.

But it was a beautiful night regardless. The sky was clearer than usual today and a multitude of stars could be seen from their current location. Law thought back to the last time he had been on a balcony with Luffy. He knew there was something strangely familiar about the whole situation and it brought back that uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Law took a place next to Luffy and studied his face intently. He tried to figure out what the younger man was looking at - If he was only watching the large street below them, the cars that looked like tiny moving lights or maybe even nothing in particular.

"You've got a really nice view from here." Luffy said, interrupting the rather comfortable silence.

Law shrugged with his shoulders. "Never paid that much attention to it, actually. I don't come here that often."

Suddenly, Luffy's gaze left the sight and watched Law's face instead. "Why not? This is stunning. I'm sure there are many people who would be willing to spend eternity here."

"I really don't see a point in standing here and watching what other people are doing down there. It's not like I don't have better things to do with my time."

Luffy snorted in reply. "I pity you sometimes, Law."

"What?" Okay, that was definitely not the response he was expecting from the dark-haired teen.

"Yeah, you see," Luffy began, the amusement clearly audible in his voice as he turned around to face Law completely. "You have the most beautiful things right in front of you and somehow you don't even recognize it."

Law paused for a moment before responding, seemingly lost in his thoughts and looked Luffy dead in the eye. "Are you trying to lecture me about life?"

"Well," Luffy started, grinning slightly at Law. "Personally, I always try to see the good things in everything, no matter how much the situation sucks. It's like my key to happiness. I feel like if I focus more on the positive things in life, it's like the bad stuff becomes less and less significant until it disappears completely."

Law hesitated a little bit and lowered his eyes, before opening his mouth to speak again. "Ignoring everything you don't like is not gonna solve your problems."

In response, Luffy just grinned even wider. "Hey Law?"

"Hm?"

"Where's your fridge? I'm hungry."

The tall man seriously had to fight the urge to push Luffy down the balcony. This was the first time they'd had a serious, deep and somehow even interesting conversation and, of course, Luffy had to ruin it.

Law pointed a tattooed finger into the direction of his kitchen and Luffy didn't even think about wasting one more minute. He watched Luffy leaving the balcony with fast steps, rubbing his belly at the thought of Law's fridge being completely at his mercy.

However, this time Law didn't follow him. He continued to stand on the balcony and watched the large, busy street from the high distance. Colorful lights twinkled from restaurants, bars, and stores. His grey eyes slowly climbed upwards to the dark sky, that was filled with even more stars by now.

Luffy was right. The sight was absolutely breath-taking. And this was the first time he had ever noticed the beauty of his surroundings.

"Law!" Luffy yelled loudly from the kitchen, making Law turn his head. He sounded unusually upset for someone who was probably emptying his entire fridge.

The tall man walked to where Luffy was, watching Luffy who had his head stuck in the fridge of Law's kitchen. When he noticed the other man behind him, Luffy took his head out. "There's no more food left!" Luffy complained, sounding upset and even a little... hurt? God, only an idiot would feel hurt because of the lack of food.

Law raised a dark brow. "Really?" He asked questioningly. "That can't be, it was still full just a few hours ago."

Luffy stepped back to allow Law to get a better view. He then pointed at the fridge - which was, in fact, completely filled. Just as Law had said. "See?"

"Luffy, are you blind or just stupid?" Law asked, folding his arms across his chest. "It's filled to the brim."

"What?! You call that 'filled'?!" Luffy's expression was shocked and so was his voice. "That's hardly enough to count as an appetizer!"

Okay, Law should have known that Luffy wouldn't be content with the huge amount of food that he kept in his kitchen. That boy had a never ending hole in his stomach as far as Law could remember.

He ruffled his hair, trying to come up with a solution. Law knew that Luffy had an obnoxious nature, but damn, whenever that teen got hungry and there was not enough food in sight, he became an even bigger pain in the ass.

Suddenly, his mind came up with an idea. "How about we go and eat out?"

Within the blink of an eye, all sadness and pain left Luffy's face. "R-Really?!" He managed to breath out, obviously thrilled by the idea! "You're the best, Law!"

Luffy moved closer and wrapped his arms around Law's middle. Law both hated and loved the heat that sprang into his body from the touch.

The teen didn't hug him for a long time, though. His hunger was too great and he didn't want to waste any more time. He grabbed Law by his hand and dragged him to the front door. He almost slammed his fist down on the button of the elevator. The doors parted only a second later without making any loud sounds, and the two men entered the big compartment.

Luffy leaned casually against the wall. "I've got to admit, I kinda like how snotty this place is. It kinda suits you."

Law smiled, but didn't respond. However, the second he actually realized that he was smiling, he quickly dropped it again and hoped that Luffy hadn't seen him doing it. He locked gazes with the nineteen-year old and judging from the way he was grinning up at him, Law was almost convinced that he had in fact caught him. "Do you want to walk or shall I drive us somewhere?" He asked, trying to avoid the conversation about his smile in advance.

Luffy hummed in thought. "Hmm... Walking sounds nice, actually. It's a beautiful night after all."

"Are you sure it's not too cold for you?" Law argued, obviously referring to the teen's thin vest.

A loud laugh was all he got as a response at first. "Nope, I'm not that cold, don't worry. Think about the fresh, nice air instead of the temperature, Law."

Before Law could say something smart in response, the doors of the elevator parted. Luffy took Law's hand into his own again and dragged him outside, not wanting to wait any longer. They continued to walk like that for quite a while and even when they got out of the tall building, Luffy continued to hold Law's hand.

Law was debating whether to tell Luffy to let go of him or not. He didn't like being dragged around by someone, but he also couldn't ignore the fact that the teen's hand was in fact a really nice source of heat. Law realized that he didn't mind the cold temperature of the evening anymore.

After some time, Luffy stopped taking big steps lowered his pace, continuing to walk right next to Law instead, so that he wasn't dragging Law anymore but instead hold hands with the taller man. And Law honestly didn't even want to say anything against it.

They continued to walk like that for a while: Hand in hand, neither of the two saying a word. But it was friday and the streets were filled with many cars and people, so they weren't completely engulfed by silence either. It was... rather pleasant, Law realized.

Of course, Luffy was the first one to speak again. "Law?"

Law quirked an eyebrow at him. "Yes?"

The teen chuckled slightly. "Isn't that kinda strange? We're on something that's pretty close to a date, and there's still so much I don't even know about you."

Yes, now that Luffy mentioned it - It was strange. Hell, strange wasn't even a word powerful enough to describe this. "Is there...anything specific you want to know?"

"Hmm..." Luffy said, tapping his chin with the pointer finger of his free hand. "What's your favorite food?"

"Are you kidding me?"

"No, I'm serious! Do you know how important food is! There's a reason we all need it to survive!" Luffy grinned at Law, causing Law to roll his eyes.

"Onigiri."

Luffy titled his head to the side. "Damn, you're lame."

"You wanted to know. So, what's your favorite food?"

"Meat!" Luffy said immediately the second after Law had finished the question.

Law shot the teen a look. "And you're calling me lame? You have absolutely no class if meat is your favorite food."

Instead of feeling offended, Luffy just puffed his cheek, faking an upset look. "I'm not going to argue with you about that! Next question: What is something you like and something you don't like?"

Wow, this question actually made Law think for a few seconds. "Well," he started. "There are quite a lot of things I don't like, actually. Kids, bread, flamingos, stupid people-"

"Okay, enough!" Luffy interrupted him, earning a glare from the older man but ignored it perfectly well. "What are some things that you do like?"

Well, this time Law had a harder time coming up with answers. He really did try to find something, but he could only come up with things he tolerated instead of 'liked'. After a few seconds of genuine contemplation, Law opened his mouth to speak again. "My job actually."

"You like being a surgeon?" Luffy asked, and Law was seriously surprised that he even remembered it.

"Yeah. That's all I can think of right now."

Suddenly, he felt Luffy giving his hand a firm squeeze to get his attention. Law turned his head to the side to look at Luffy who was grinning a broad grin. "Do you like me?"

Those simple words hit Law like a damn hammer as he felt his heart fluttering a little. The question hung heavy in the air, and Law couldn't turn his eyes away from the intensive gaze of Luffy's eyes. This was the very same question that had kept him awake at night and Law knew the answer for it too damn well. His immediate instinct was to say no, he didn't want to confess it, but when Luffy looked at him in that way, he couldn't help but soften and admit to himself that he couldn't keep this act up any longer.

"I guess you can put it that way." He said, hoping that this was enough as an answer and that Luffy didn't expect some sappy love confession from him.

Suddenly, he felt Luffy leaning his head on his shoulder. "I like you, too."

Shit, something inside Law made him feel horribly guilty. He was trying so hard to not put it that bluntly, and then there was Luffy who simply said it as if it was nothing.

"Shall I tell you a secret, Law?" Luffy murmured quietly so that only Law could hear him as they walked.

Law's heart started to beat faster. He wasn't prepared for this. He had no clue what Luffy was just about to say to him, but he knew that he wasn't ready to admit more just yet.

"I lied back then at Dressrosa when I said I had lost my wallet. I just didn't want to pay for everything. Sorry." Luffy said and smiled, not sounding apologetic at all.

Okay, that was definitely not what Law had expected. If some other person had said those words to him, Law was sure that he'd get mad or at least slightly annoyed. However, he wasn't feeling any kind of anger for Luffy. There was a part of him that actually found Luffy's behavior slightly endearing and this time he didn't stop the smile that crept up his face.

"It's an old habit of mine, shishishi!" Luffy laughed and scratched the bridge of his nose. "Ace and I always used to do that kind of stuff when we were younger. You know, eating and then running away. It was fun!"

Law ignored how stupid Luffy sounded and opened his mouth to speak as well. "Ace is that crazy brother of yours, right? The one who called you when we were in Dressrosa."

"Yeah!" Luffy said, not minding that Law had just called his brother a nutjob. "And he's just a little... protective, I guess."

"You guess?" Law asked amusedly.

"He hasn't always been like that. There was a time in our lives when he hated me." Despite his words, Luffy was still grinning widely. "You can't imagine how many times he tried to kill me when we were kids!"

Law's amusement disappeared from his face as he realized what Luffy had just told him. "Now I'm actually convinced that your brother is crazy."

Luffy squeezed his hand a little tighter. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it. I can't wait to introduce you to him!" Law gulped audibly, not really liking the thought. "I can't wait to introduce you to all of my friends actually!"

"Yeah," Law said, feeling a little smile returning to his face. "Let's think about us first. Is there anything else you want to know?"

Luffy broke the eye contact with Law and looked somewhere else, obviously searching his mind for something to ask the other man. He snapped his fingers when he got an idea. "Ah!" He exclaimed and moved Law's hand in front of his face, looking at it. "Where did you put your ring?"

Law felt his stomach flipping. "It's..." He begun, before taking a deep breath. That was a damn good question, actually. He tried to find an answer, but he honestly couldn't even remember where he had put it. Seriously, where did he keep that damn ring? It wasn't on his finger anymore and as far as Law remembered it wasn't inside the drawer of his nightstand either...

Suddenly, he remembered where he had put the ring. And shit, he didn't like the answer he was just about to give Luffy one bit.

"It's," He said again and closed his eyes. "It's under my pillow."

And now he could actually feel Luffy's grin boring through his body like a sharp knife. Reluctantly, Law moved his head to the side to watch Luffy's face and shit, the moment he did he wondered how it was even anatomically possible for a human being to have such a wide grin.

"Wow, I didn't know you had such a romantic streak in you, Law."

Law didn't answer, but a hint of a smile was still tugging on his lips. He decided not to tell Luffy that he had just put it there without any deeper thought. After all, he didn't feel like ruining the teen's good mood right now.

If Law was completely honest with himself, he knew that he was starting to enjoy all of this. Only gradually though, but still. Law was aware that trying to make all of this work wasn't going to be an easy task - Luffy had been a challenge from the start and he was most definitely everything but easy. But then again, he'd had it pretty easy when Luffy had left him one week ago and he could honestly say that he didn't enjoy his life being 'easy' at all. He knew things wouldn't change instantly or even simply, but the first step of many towards a new beginning had been taken and Law couldn't find anything to complain about.

This time, Law gave Luffy's hand a tight squeeze as he allowed the other one to nuzzle his neck with his nose. There was a nice restaurant right in front of them, but he decided to search for another one. Preferably one at the other end of the town. He didn't mind walking a little longer, because it was definitely a beautiful night.

A/N: I don't even know what to write now. Finishing this chapter was a little bit like watching a child growing up or something stupid like that.

I'm still happy that there are so many people who liked this story so much *sheds a tear and wipes it away* The support I got for this was so amazing, I wish I could thank you somehow but I'm really not good with that kind of stuff so I better stop talking before I ruin everything :D
