"As the Birth mother is deceased and no father or other relative has come forward, I offficially declare Noah Porter an orphan and ward of the state of New York. He shall continue to be cared for in an ACS facility. Unless, Sergeant Benson, you rescued the infant, isn't that right?" Judge Linden asked.

"Yes your Honor." Olivia answered.

Judge Linden continued, "And you're the only one that's taken a consistent interest on his behalf. Is there any chance you might like to become a foster mother to this baby?"

Olivia looks bewildered by what Judge is saying.

"I'm Sorry, excuse me your honor?"

"I have a feeling about this sergeant Benson, call it a judge's hunch." The Judge smiles and continues. "If you agree, I will order Noah Porter into your care as custodial parent for one year. At which time you will be given the option to permanently adopt him. Do you agree?"

Olivia was still trying to grasp what the judge was saying. She had been interested in the baby's behalf, but with her job, she had thought that it might be unreasonable for her to think of adopting him. She had been declined in the past, so she had started to believe that it would never happen.

The ordeal of Lewis had changed her a lot, forced her to really think things through. Even the possibility of becoming a parent, but she had still clung to the fact she had been declined. So, it was very surprising to her when the judge suddenly offered her a shot at motherhood.

"Sergeant Benson?"

She looked back towards the judge, and nodded hesitantly. Words were unable to form, trying to grasp what just happened. "I take that as an yes?" She nodded in return, before she finally got her voice back. "Yes, I agree."

Was that all it took? A few minutes and she was a mother? A smile appeared on her face, as everything came together. She had so much questions now, that she didn't even know where to begin, how to even ask them.

"I then hereby place Noah Porter into the care of Sergeant Olivia Benson, who will then get the choice of permanently adopting him a year from now."

The judge used her gaval to signal that court was finished with, leaving Olivia with so many questions. Trevor Langan quickly approached her afterwards, Olivia was unable to read the odd expression on his face. "Olivia." She didn't like lawyers. But, why did this one have to be so hot? Why couldn't he just simply look like a troll? "Yes?" He cleared his throat before responding.

"It didn't take you very long to agree."

"No, it didn't."

"I'm just worried with your job, that it will get in the way of taking care of Noah?"

"It won't interfere with my abilities to be a foster parent, I'm a sergeant now, I do more desk work. I thought you knew that? Or are you just trying to get on my nerves?"

Langan smirked, an aura of confidence surrounding him. He rather liked Olivia Benson, she had an interesting personality. "If you say so."

"Now, I must go and get things organized."

"Bye Sergeant."
