Disclaimer: I don't own anything except the plot

It all started on the first day of the year, the day when people celebrated New Year's traditions. The New Year's celebration in Alice Land meant every adult had to attend Royal's Mask Party in the evening. The celebration's tradition made by the royal family, Hyuuga's ancestors, where their whole point was to make people in Alice Land grew closer to their King and of course to distribute peace among the nations. Indeed, it was intended to be a joyful day.

I was no exception.

It wasn't because of the Royal's Mask Party that put a big smile on my face. It was because today was the day when I finally turned 17 years old!

This year was the most-awaited year for my whole life. I always dreamt of this day to come quickly. I sighed happily before putting on my slippers and tie my robe. I quickly walked towards the dining room, smiling and greeting all the maids before settling on my chair. Boy, I felt really good today!

I then saw my parents walking together towards my direction. Father, after noticing me, walked to my side before kissing my cheeks fervently.

"Happiest birthday, my lovely daughter! I love you too much!", he said enthusiastically. Mother gently laughed behind him before slapping my father's shoulder few times, pointing it was her turn now. I laughed.

"Happy birthday, baby girl! How is your feeling today?" She hugged me gently. I smiled and hugged her back.

"I feel great! Thank you father, mother!" I replied enthusiastically before settling down together. While our maids putting the foods in front of us, I grinned at my father and threw a hopeful glance at him. My father always knows that whenever I was like this, it always meant something.

"What is it, Mikan?"He said before putting a piece of egg benedict in his mouth.

"Father, I am seventeen today, right?" I beamed widely.

"Of course?" My father answered rather confused by my statement, while my mother threw a confused glance toward my way. I started twiddling my fingers.

"When will I get my teacher's license?" My father choked after hearing this, before nervously glanced at my mother, who returned it with a troubled look. I raised my brow at this before returned to my father's nervous laugh.

"Of course, a promise is a promise. I will give it soon." I squealed excitedly before throwing my father a bear-hug.

You see, my father owned a prestigious school, which was the only school in my region, Sakura Region. The school had 4 divisions: Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High School and lastly Senior High School. I've known that school for my whole life because I am the headmaster's daughter, and everyone seemed respected me because of my father. Not only that, but my father also became the head of the Sakura Region. Everyone looked up at him and kept saying how powerful The Yukihara's family was – which pissed me off.

I got tired by how many people scared by my status as the daughter of The Yukihara. Living in this era were quite inconvenient. Each people in those social classes are all humans, why make a distinction? I always reminded myself that I was never a level ahead of anyone. That's when I met Nobara, my best friend, the first person who I could rely on upon without showing my status. Instead, she treated me as ordinary people – which I deeply appreciated.

One day, I found out that I had one of my mother's traits in my genes; family-oriented trait. Both of my parents were family-oriented and both of them wanted a big family in the beginning. Unfortunately, they only had me. Well, it wasn't that bad to be alone, but I must admit, it was quite lonely sometimes.

A few years ago, my parents brought me to one of the orphanages, built by my father. Since then, I realized that I tended to be a big sister/mom to little children. I found out that I loved children so much! That was also the beginning of my dreamt as a kindergarten teacher, donations to all orphanages in the Sakura Region, and a promise from my father.

"When you reach the age of seventeenth, I promise to give the teacher's license to you."

"Pinky-promise father?"

"Cross my heart, dear."

"Hey, Mikan!" Nobara called me from behind. I gasped surprised, quite pissed because someone disrupting my daydreaming.

Where was I again?

Oh, right I was in a cafe.

Nobara worked in the cafe as a waitress. She said that she wanted to be independent while helping her parents, to at least paid for her living-cost. One of the things that I quite envied from her. Unlike me, Nobara was a shy and very girlish girl. She looked like an anti-social, but if you already knew her, deep down she was a very socialist and nice person to talk with. Turning myself to her, I showed her my biggest grin. She, with her beautiful curly icy blue hair, smiled sweetly to me.

"Happy Birthday Mikan! And happy New Year too!" I giggled and hugged her.

"Thank you!" She then turned to her boss, asking for permission to have a break a while. I noticed her warm and beautiful deep blue eyes, she's so breathtaking. I sighed, wondering if I could as beautiful as her. Impossible I think. Unless you asked my dad then you'll get a different opinion.

"You don't have to do that you know? I'm sorry I disrupt your work." She clicked her tongue.

"Nah, that's okay. Anyway, how does it feel being a seventeen years old girl?" I rolled my eyes and smiled.

"For sure, it's awesome. I woke today, jumping on my bed because I realized I'll be a teacher soon."

"Ah yes, you and your dream." She giggled and I nodded vigorously. I took a sip of my tea and gulped down slowly, still wanting the hot liquid trickling down my throat.

"You're really lucky. You're going to meet Prince Natsume tonight, at the ball. Hah, I so envy you!" I choked before grunting displeasedly.

The Prince? Oh yeah, I just remembered. Prince Hyuuga Natsume, soon to be our king, was the hottest bachelor in Alice Land – or so what people said, especially girls. When I was a child, my father once took me to the palace. I still remembered vividly that I saw a boy slightly older than me at that time. I didn't quite remember his face though, unfortunately. So, I gave no comment about his looks.

About the tradition to see the Prince in the Ball that Nobara said earlier was true. Traditions said, every child who already turned 17 years old, could attend a youngster's New Year Party – A party especially for teenagers - with The Prince, especially the children of each Duke. I, as the daughter of the Sakura Region, was invited to this party. Of course, there will also The Nogi's, Koizumi's and Imai's, whom I never met before. Maybe we have, but I forgot. Pfft, I seriously thought I had trouble with my memory.

"I am not really that excited to meet that guy, Nobara. Whether he is the prince or not, I don't think I interested in that now." Nobara gasped and then grabbed my shoulders firmly.

"You're kidding right?! You're about to meet the hottest guy in possibly this planet! You're not happy?!" As you could see, Nobara had a huge crush with our Prince. She said she saw him when she visited the palace, though according to her story, she said that he didn't see her. But it was enough to make her flew through the ocean – or what she said to me. I shrugged. She rolled her eyes at me.

"I wished I was born before the New Year, then I'd attend the Ball and meet the Prince" She sighed dreamily. This time, I was the one who rolled my eyes before an idea hit me. I immediately grabbed her hands.

"Do you want to come with me? Tonight?" I asked excitedly. She gasped and widened her eyes.

"B-but how is that possible? I'm sixteen for goodness sake!" I shook my head, smiling inside for my brilliant idea.

"Trust me, it'd work. Just.. come to my house after your part time's done and I'll makeover you!" I stared at her, proving that I was quite serious about this. She bit her lips, still considering if this would work.

"What should I do if I got caught?"

"You're just a few months younger than me! I'm sure everyone won't know you're sixteen!"

"If.. if-"

"IF that happened, we will figure out later, just trust me okay?" I winked at her, and she finally nodded and smiled at me. I meant every word that I said and boy, it was nice to be able helping my best friend.

"Tonight will be fun" I commented and she giggled.

"Thank you, Mikan! You're the best!"

"I know! Anyway, I gotta go now! Wanna see the orphanage's doing, bye Nobara! and thanks for the tea!"I stood up and kissed both of her cheeks. She just shook her head and smiled at me.

"You're the nicest girl I ever know" She commented.

"You too!" and I made my way to the orphanage's house.

The Orphanage's house was not far from the café. A spring's breeze blew and made my sleeveless-white dress swayed a little. I took a really deep breath, enjoying the fresh scents of spring. I hummed a little as I walked while looking at the sakura trees alongside the road. There were lots of Sakura Trees in my region, and that was why the region is called the Sakura Region. It was very beautiful and it was my favorite plant too. I breathed the fresh air again before stretching my hands.

"Today was a nice day," I said to no one. I spotted one-particular old Sakura Tree in front of the one-story house and sat under the tree. I counted mentally, waiting for the orphanage's bell to ring.

RING! RING! RING!

I smiled at the sound before staring at the orphanage's door. A moment later, the door flung open and one by one child started to notice me.

"Ah! Mikan onee-san!" shouted one of the children, before everyone all running to me. I laughed. Before I knew it, they already surrounded me. I then started to hug them all in one big-bear hug. I showed my biggest smile to them.

"Hello everyone! I didn't late this time right?" They all giggled and sat surrounding me. I've known a certain little boy will come automatically to me. His name was Youichi and he's 4 years old. He didn't talk much, which made me harder to get to know him when I first met him, but after I saved him when he couldn't get down from the tree, he became fond of me. Every day he'd sat in my lap and held my shirt tightly. I liked him though, he was so adorable – with his innocent-emerald eyes, chubby cheeks and his unique white hair – who wouldn't fall with a child like this?

"Hello Youichi, how are you today?" I said tenderly. He nodded once and then lowered his gaze again. I smiled and messed his hair – which he replied by a grunt.

"Onee-san, why did Youichi-kun sit on your lap?" A girl with bright orange eyes asked me. I smiled and opened my free arm to her.

"Do Misaki-chan want to sit here too then?"

Misaki-chan then nodded happily and walked to sit on my lap. I didn't mind it at all and started to tell them a story. My mother used to read me fairy tales, and I somehow happy to hear that. But now, she didn't do it anymore since she figured out, I've already grown up. To be honest, I missed her doing that stuff.

"SHIT!" The deep voice interrupted us. All heads turned to a man – not far from us. The man, which I noticed had a dark-hair, looked very panicked until he saw us and immediately ran to me. I became very surprise, especially with his crimson eyes. It almost hypnotized me until I suddenly pulled back to reality with his deep and boyish voice.

"Hey, I need your help."

TO BE CONTINUED!

The explanation of ALICE LAND:

Alice Land.

Alice Land was a land ruled by Hyuuga's clan from the very first year the land created. Practically, Hyuuga generations will always be Royal blood. The Land is currently ruled by the kindest and wisest King Ioran, father of Natsume Hyuuga. Alice Land is divided into 6 regions:

First is the Hyuuga Region, in the center of the island and also the place where the Royal Family lives.

Second is the Sakura Region, at the bottom right under Hyuuga's. As Mikan said above, the land was full of Sakura trees. The Duke who is charged is Mikan's father, Izumi Yukihara. They supplied food and drinks to the palace.

The third is the Nogi Region, located above Sakura's and at the top right Hyuuga's. Nogi is famous for its animal tamer and their gardening skills. The region ruled by Kyosuke Nogi. They supply animals and plants to the palace.

The fourth was the Imai Region, located the left top of Hyuuga's. Imai's is famous for their intelligent and technologies-maker. The region ruled by Hoshio Imai. They supplied technologies to the palace.

The fifth is the Koizumi Region, located just under the Imai's, bottom left of Hyuuga's. They owned the entertainment world and center of art's world (like singing, painting, stuffs like that. Though, Mikan could sing too even though she didn't study here). The region ruled by Kuonji Koizumi. The region supplied musicians, arts, and everything to entertain the Royal Family.

Lastly, the region lived by un-Alice people. They called it the AAO region, Anti-Alice Organization. For a while, they got shut by Hyuuga for their last rebellion. (This is the essential information I guess, :D)

The four regions (beside Hyuuga's and AAO) supported each other and completed each other with what they had. And under Ioran's command, they lived peacefully, at least for now. *smirked evilly*

As you may notice, I have changed the plot a little.

Please keep supporting me by giving reviews alright? Thank you so much!
