Garnet woke up again for the fifth time this night, she looked over at a sleeping Pearl. 'Her breathing's fine...she seems to be okay.' Garnet smiled, 'Just as long as she's okay.' Garnet sat up and looked at the clock; 5:03 am. 'Hmm, I would be getting up in about an hour...' Garnet sighed deeply and laid back only to hear Pearl, "Garnet?" She whispered tiredly, "Are you okay?" Garnet stroked her cheek, "Yes, I was just making sure you were all right." Pearl and snuggled the darker gem, nuzzling her head into Garnet's side. "I love you, Garnet." Pearl said with a yawn, Garnet replied, stroking her hair, "I love you, too."

When Garnet woke up again, it was already 8 o'clock, and Pearl wasn't beside her. 'What?! Where's Pearl!?' Garnet got up and went down the stairs as fast as she could. When she got to the bottom, she saw Pearl sitting on the couch next to Rose, "Pearl, please tell me everything you remember." Pearl sighed deeply, "I...I remember a black figure in a dark room. I was tied to a wooden chair, and blindfolded for the most part. When the figure took off my blindfold, he started questioning me and beating me...I yelled in his ear and he summoned his dagger and came after me."

"How did you escape?" Pearl looked down, "Honestly, I don't know how I pulled it off, but I was able to shift the chair and get him to cut the ropes, but to a default, he cut me too."

"Is that everything?" Pearl nodded, then Garnet spoke up (she was now sitting in a recliner across from the others) "I want to know who this 'he' is." Pearl looked into Garnet's eyes, pain seemed to fill them. "Pearl, please. Tell me who it is." Pearl stayed silent, Garnet stood up and walked over to Pearl; kneeling down, she hugged the pale gem. Garnet whispered in Pearl's ear, "Pearl, please, I love you too much to let you suffer." When Garnet pulled away, she looked into Pearl's eyes, Garnet noticed they started filling with tears. "It was..." Tears streamed down her face, "...my father..." Rage hit Garnet like a bullet, "That fucking bastard!"

"Garnet." Rose said sternly, "I would like it if you'd watch your language."

"How can I?! Look what he's done to Pearl! Him and her mother both have been nothing but horrible creatures!"

"Enough." Rose raised her hand, signaling Garnet to stopped, and looked down at Pearl, "I need to call the authorities. This has gotten out of hand, and we need to end this." Pearl didn't protest this, 'It does need to stop.' Rose nodded once and walked over to the house phone, she dialed the number. She tapped her foot waiting for an answer, but she put the phone down and turned to Pearl and Garnet. "They're...not answering."

"What? Why would they not answer! They suppose to answer emergencies right?!" Garnet had a hold of Pearl's hand. "This is really unusual." Rose picked up the phone again, but before she could dial the number, a loud pounding noise came from the door. Garnet let go of Pearl's hand and went to the door, only to be pushed back, "Hey! What's the big idea!" Garnet stood back up, a large man with a suit on looked down at her, "Ma'am, you and any other residents need to get to the town hall immediately." He left, nothing more said. Garnet walked back into the living room, "We have to go now!"

Rose nodded and started for the door, although Pearl was confused, she followed. The gems got in Garnet's car and drove to town hall as fast as they could. When they arrived all of Fluorite sector was there, and the head leader Topaz was up at the podium with many microphones around it. He waved to crowd then spoke into the mics, "Okay, you are all probably wondering why you are here. I have some dire news and it is very urgent; We are heading into a war. I need all soldier gems to head to the council sanctuary up North, everyone else will be evacuated tomorrow evening. Please have all your valuables gathered and ready for when my guards come for you."

The crowd started to get loud, and many reporters were starting to ask questions. Rose looked at Garnet, "Garnet, ask Amethyst to come stay with us. I have a very bad feeling." Garnet understood and made her way through the crowd. Her third eye picked up on the purple gem, "Amethyst." Amethyst turned her head and faced Garnet, "Hey! What's up, G?"

"Will you come stay with me tonight?" Amethyst shrugged, "Sure. I don't have anywhere else to be." Amethyst's parents had abandoned her a long time ago. She now lived in an orphanage and didn't really care much for the other kids. Garnet seemed to be her only friend so it wasn't unusual to say yes to stay the night with Garnet.

"Rose has a bad feeling about all of this, and, since you are our friend, she cares for you." Amethyst just shrugged again, and followed Garnet back to Rose and Pearl. "Hey, P." Although Pearl wasn't fond of the nickname she still greeted Amethyst with kindness, "Hello, Amethyst."

"Are we ready to go girls?" They nodded and got back into Garnet's convertible. When they were back home, Rose looked worried. "Rose?" Garnet asked, "Are you alright?" Rose shook her head, "I think we need to leave early."

"Why?" As soon as Garnet asked that, the ground started to rumble. "Garnet, get Pearl and Amethyst now!" Garnet rushed into the house as Rose ran for the basement door. When she came out, she had her Light Cannon and a remote. "Rose what's going on?!" Pearl was frightened, and stood close to Garnet's side. Rose pushed the green button on the remote, the driveway opened up and a rocket type craft rose up from the ground. "Don't ask, get in!" The gems rushed to the craft and next thing they knew, they were leaving their homes, families, and friends.

As they were shooting out into the abyss of space, Pearl looked back at the planet. Her eyes widened in horror as she watched it blow into smithereens. Tears flowing out of her eyes as she said her goodbyes, 'I will miss you all...' Garnet came up behind her, she gasped softly, all her friends are...dead. Garnet shed a single tear, and hugged Pearl tightly, "It's alright," She whispered to her girlfriend, "It'll be alright."
