TRIS POV

"So… Beatrice Prior. Would you do me the honour of going on a date with me?"

My heart was beating at a rate that I was pretty certain should have immediate medical attention, but I was so shocked that nothing was registering in my mind.

One thing I'm certain of is that Tobias actually asked me to go on a date with him. Tobias, the man it feels like I've just met, wants to go on a date with me.

Tobias was still leaning over me, looking down at me with an expectant look on his face.

"Are you sure?" I asked him.

He looked down at me with raised eyebrows before bursting out into the most beautiful laugh I have ever heard.

"Tris, Tris, Tris. What am I going to do with you?" he asked me after calming down a little.

"Uhm…" I replied confusingly.

He lifted his left hand to my face, lightly grazing his fingers across my cheek before coming to rest just under my ear.

"Of course I'm sure Tris." He replied, answering my earlier question. "I would like nothing more than to go on a date with you."

"Okay." I replied with a small smile.

The next morning when I woke up, it took me a while to recount the previous night's occurrences. When the memory of Tobias and I's conversation on my bed came flashing back in my mind, I flushed with embarrassment.

Slowly rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I opened my bedroom door and made my way to the kitchen.

After safely evading the coffee table and making it to the coffee pot by the sink, I got a cup out of the cupboard and made my way sleepily around the kitchen.

As I was nonchalantly sipping my coffee and staring out the window, a pair of hands came around my waist, coming to rest on the counter I was leaning against.

Warm breath fanned over my ear, sending a shiver through my body.

"Good morning beautiful." Tobias whispered in my ear.

I turned my head slowly and locked gazes with Tobias.

"Morning." I shakily replied.

Shying away from Tobias' affections, I pushed myself away from his grip, putting my cup into the sink.

"So, I was thinking." Tobias said.

"Did it hurt?" I tauntingly replied.

"Ha. Ha. You're such a comedian Miss Prior."

I laughed slightly. "I try."

"What I was trying to say, is that I was thinking about our date." He said, making his way closer to me.

My heart skipped a beat at the way he said our date.

"Mmh." I sounded, encouraging him to continue.

"How about this Saturday night? I'll pick you up at 7?"

"You can't exactly pick me up if we live together." I laughed.

"You know what I mean though" he sounded nervous, "I'm trying to be romantic here."

I nodded before taking the few steps between us and wrapping my arms around his taut waist.

"I know. It's cute."

He pulled away from me, placing his hands on my shoulders.

"I am not cute. I'm romantic. Manly. I'm a manly romantic."

I patted him on his chest before walking back towards my bedroom.

"I'm going to get ready for work." I called over my shoulder.

_Line breaky_

Work and time flew by and before I knew it, it was Saturday and I was getting ready for my date with Tobias. I tried different methods of coercion to get him to tell me where he was taking me, but the most I got was 'dress comfortably.'

Staring into my cupboard, I was met with some underwhelming choices. In the end, I chose out some burgundy jeans, grey and white striped loose top with a jacket, boots, scarf and matching beanie to help fight off the wind.

I looked over to the clock before silently cursing myself at my poor time management. With limited time before Tobias was supposed to 'pick me up,' I dashed to the bathroom, quickly applying a layer of mascara to my eyelashes. After finishing up my left side, I heard the doorbell ring. After waiting a little while, it rang again.

Confused about why Tobias hadn't already got the door, I hurriedly walked to the front door, not even bothering to look through the peep-hole to check who it was before swinging it wide open.

What I saw before me made my knees weak. Tobias stood before me, dressed casually in jeans, T-shirt and open jacket, with a bunch of roses in hand.

"Did you seriously go outside and knock on the front door?" I asked him with a smile.

He nodded his head before explaining. "I'm here to pick you up."

I looked down at my watch before looking back to him.

"You're early." I jeered.

"Well, I couldn't wait to see your beautiful face."

I scoffed before opening the door further to let him in.

"You're really cheesy, you know that right?" I asked him.

He nodded at me while we walked into the living room.

"Plus you saw me like.. two hours ago."

"I know." He replied vaguely.

I walked into the kitchen in search of a vase for my beautiful flowers, searching through nearly every cupboard before Tobias decided to put me out of my misery.

"Here you go" he said as he handed me a clear cylindrical vase. I took it from his hands before walking to the sink to put the water in it.

After I had successfully unwrapped the flowers from the plastic surrounding it and placed it in the vase, I left Tobias in the kitchen before running to get my bag.

Checking and re-checking that I had all the necessities in there, I looked into my mirror let out a big sigh.

You can do this I told myself.

I slung my bag over my shoulder, letting it rest near my hip before walking back to Tobias.

"Ready?" He asked me as I neared him.

I nodded my confirmation. Tobias rested his arm out, and I slung my arm around his and we both walked out the front door, arm in arm.

Our car trip was filled with light conversation, with occasional laughs here and there. We had been travelling for about twenty minutes before I asked him where we were going.

"It's a secret." He mysteriously replied.

"Can you at least tell me when we're going to get there? I really need to use the bathroom. I hope there is a bathroom where we're going. Goodness, what if there isn't a bathroom. What am I going to do?" I didn't realise that I was rambling until Tobias stopped me with a hand on my thigh.

"Calm down." He told me. "We're almost there. And yes, they do have toilets where we're going, so you don't have to worry about that."

My face flushed with embarrassment, and Tobias, ever the gentleman, didn't say anything about it.

Not even five minutes later, Tobias pulled into an empty car park.

"Uhm… Tobias? Where are we?" I asked him.

"Didn't you see any of the signs when we drove in?" he asked me in return while unbuckling his seat belt.

I shook my head in reply and he chuckled at me. Before I knew what was happening, Tobias was out of the car and was around to my side of the car, opening the door for me. Tobias leant down to me before I could get a foot out of the car and placed his hands over my eyes, whispering in my ear.

"It's a surprise."

I followed along with him as he guided me out of the car, keeping one hand securely over my eyes (which were closed anyway) and the other reaching back into the car. He placed my bag over my shoulder before I heard the car door close and the beeping of the central locking system.

Tobias moved so that he was behind me, his hands still covering my eyes as he steered me forward.

It wasn't long before he stopped me and leant forward, making his front come into contact with my back.

"Are you ready?" he whispered in my ear.

"Yes" I replied hoarsely.

He removed his hands from my eyes, one at a time, and I blinked my eyes a few times to gain my bearings again.

I looked up and gasped, quickly turning and raising my eyebrows at Tobias, silently asking if this was real.

When he smiled and nodded back, I squealed and turned in his arms, throwing my hands around his neck.

"Tobias, how did you do this?" I asked him in awe.

"I have a friend that owed me a favour." He replied mysteriously.

"Do you want to go in?"

I nodded my head furiously, and we walked hand in hand towards the front doors of the Shedd Aquarium.
