Chapter 28: Tooth and Claw

A/N- Hey guys I haven't given up on this story I promise. I've just been having major writers block and I've been revising like crazy trying to correct previous mistakes and make sure everything's comprehensive. I love you guys and thanks for reading. Happy Valentine's Day!

Also Doctor Who doesn't belong to me.

Also, also Happy Valentine's Day!

"So you've met Jack have you?" I asked as we rode along the dirt road taking in the beautiful green scenery, the house visible in the distance.

I could hear her chuckle lightly before she decided to respond.

"Indeed. What an absolute flirt he was," she admitted as she laughed harder. "He wasn't exactly crazy about me taking the vortex manipulator but as soon as I dropped your name he seemed to loosen up. Said, 'yeah you do remind me of my doll baby.' "

I also laughed as I could just see and hear Jack saying those exact words. He just never seems to change but I don't think I'd like him any other way.

Man I missed him.

"We're here," she informed me as we came to a sudden stop. I glanced outside the carriage to see the beautiful mansion with a huge courtyard and an observatory on top. "Wow!" She squealed as she helped me out. "My first real adventure with my parents. I'm so excited!" She exclaimed and I smiled happily at her. The joy of seeing my daughter happy fulfilled me to know end. I don't know when I became so motherly but it felt natural and I was basically going on instinct.

"I'm so glad you're here Autumn," I told her genuinely. "But first things first," I began now completely serious. "No wandering off. Second, stay by my side and do whatever the Doctor and I say. Understood?" I asked in a strict voice and she rolled her eyes though a smile still graced her lips.

"Yes mum."

"Good girl," I said before straightening my dress. "Also the Queen's in there so behave yourself."

She simply nodded her head as she led me towards the house covering her eyes more with her hat again. She knocked properly on the door and it took but seconds for a bald male servant to answer, I immediately recognized him as the bad guy.

"May I help you?" He asked though his eyes suspiciously onced me over.

"Well," I started with a false chuckle. "I've seem to have misplaced my husband. Doctor James McCrimmon," I said quickly remembering the fake name he'd given the Queen and her men. "See, I've been aiding him in chasing this naked lass around and it seems that we've gotten all mixed up and I've lost sight of them." He said nothing but continued to watch me as I spoke. "He's about ye high," I said using my arm to show the Doctors tall height. "Long brown coat, weird brown hair and eyes, incredibly rude."

"Ah yes," he finally answered. "Doctor McCrimmon and the naked woman arrived just moments ago with the Queen."

"Queen Victoria herself?" I gasped in surprise. "What's he gotten himself into now eh?" I jokingly asked Autumn.

"Who is this?" He asked as he now also examined her.

"My personal assistant York," I answered quickly thinking on my toes. Autumn sent me a quick look to let me know she was unimpressed with the name I had chosen for her.

"Sir," she said in a much deeper voice then previously as she bowed to the man.

He seemed to accept that as he opened the door wider and gestured for us to enter. It was just as beautiful on the inside as I had remembered from the episode, even more so.

"Right this way Mrs-" he trailed off awaiting my name.

"Lo- McCrimmon, Serenity McCrimmon," I answered with a wide smile to hide the fact that I was literally two seconds away from saying Serenity Logan. Yikes.

"Yes of course, this way."

We were silent as the man, Angelo I believe led us through the eerily quiet house which was aligned with guards all over. I was both relieved and excited when we stopped outside a door and I could clearly hear the Doctors voice inside going on and on and the sexist Scottish accent I've heard. Angelo knocked politely before opening the door to reveal us to the room.

"Pardon my intrusion. I have a Mrs. Serenity McCrimmon here," he says as Autumn and I entered the room.

"Wren!" The Doctor exclaimed happily as he quickly approached me and gave me a tight hug.

"Ahem." The Queen cleared her throat and a literal chill went down my spine.

I'm meeting Queen Victoria! Shut up!

"Your Majesty," I greeted bowing as Autumn did the same. "Please excuse us for barging in on your presence. It would seem that my husband and I were separated earlier as he-" I purposely cut myself of as I spotted Rose in the corner. "Well, it's seems you've caught the lass then," I stated.

"Excuse me for my nakedness ma'am," Rose said though she was obviously uncomfortable as she refused to meet my eyes which instantly confused me.

"Of course," I said nodding politely towards her.

"Well Mrs. McCrimmon-"

"-Please your Highness, call me Wren."

"I prefer Serenity if you don't mind," she said matter of factly. "It is an unusual name though I quite like it." I silently nodded my acceptance and stood completely still as she quietly examined me as though she were sizing me up. I took no offense if she wanted to call me by my first name. "Well Serenity, it is a pleasure as well to make your acquaintance. Your husband though an unusual man has made for an interesting evening so far."

"That's my Doctor," I answered as he and I secretly shared a smile.

"And who might this young man be?" She asked glancing by my side. The Doctor and Rose also looked at Autumn curiously.

"This is my personal assistant York," I quickly explained as I sent the Doctor an I'll explain later look. "He's been in the family since he was a wee lad," I informed her and she seemed satisfied with that answer though the Doctor was not.

Autumn sent him the biggest grin she could muster and his eyes grew wide as he glanced between the two of us. He was obviously noticing the resemblance but wasn't quite putting two and two together which was odd for such a brilliant fellow. Although he could have just been surprised to see that she was actually a woman and not the man she'd dressed as.

"Excuse me sir. Perhaps her Majesty's party could repair to their rooms. It's almost dark," baldy said eyeing the nervous Sir Robert that I had just noticed for the first time.

"Of course," he answered hesitantly. "Yes of course," he repeated.

"And then supper," Queen Victoria demanded. "Also, could we find some clothes for Miss Tyler? I'm tired of her nakedness," she said dismissively and I nodded in agreement.

"It's not amusing is it?" Rose asked her with a serious expression and I held back a laugh.

Queen Victoria glanced at her for a brief moment before she decided to ignore her and her comment altogether. The Doctor muttered to Rose about her stopping as she would not being able to get the Queen to say it and she laughed and poked him in the chest in return.

"Sir Robert, your wife must've left some clothes. See to it. We shall dine at seven and talk some more of this wolf. After all, there is a full moon tonight," she said meeting his eyes still unaware of how nervous he looked.

"So there is ma'am," he said bowing to her as she is led out of the room. The Doctor takes my hand and we quickly follow behind her. The Queen is taken up another set of stairs while the Doctor and I are led to the nearest room. Autumn immediately followed us in whilst Robert took Rose to another room to change into more appropriate clothing. Once the door closes the Doctor wraps his arms around me tightly and squeezes me as though I'd disappear in any second.

"Doctor?" I call out confused as I pulled away.

He instantly smashed his lips against mine and pulled me as close as two people could possibly be without joining as one. As I started to run out of breath he pulled away and placed his forehead against mine. His big brown puppy eyes held a mix between sadness, regret, and happiness. I had no idea what had gotten into him, I wasn't exactly complaining either.

"What's the matter?" I asked running my hand through his messy brown hair. I knew he didn't like it when I messed with his styled hair but he'd get over it.

"I'm so sorry about what happened," he said quickly.

"What?" I asked not having a clue what he was going on about. Whatever it was though I could see it was really upsetting him. He became confused as he watched my confused expression before recognition finally took over.

"You haven't been to New New York yet have you?"

"Not with Rose," I said trying not to give too much away.

He sighed in despair as his arms dropped down to his side. He shook his head in frustration as he glanced back at me again.

"It's not fair," he said confusing me even further. "I was horrible to you," he admitted, "and I can't even apologize properly because it hasn't even happened to you yet. I feel horrible and no matter how much I beg for your forgiveness it won't mean anything because you haven't been through it yet," he ranted.

"If it's bothering you that much then you have my forgiveness," I said with a playful smile trying to lighten the mood.

"No!" He yelled and my eyes grew wide at his outburst. "I'm sorry," he said as his eyes went softer. "I hurt you," he said in a lower voice as he took my face into his hands gently stroking my cheeks with his thumb. "I swear I'll never do anything again to make you question how much I love you," he said his voice thick with emotion and honesty. "So when the time comes just know that I am very sorry."

"When the time comes I'll remember that," I promised in a whisper before placing a small yet sweet kiss on his pouting lips.

We slowly pulled away as Autumn cleared her throat to remind us that she was still in the room. I blushed before pulling away from the Doctor all together. How awkward it had to be for her to watch her parents in an intimate moment. I met her identical eyes to see she was grinning widely which surprised me and caused me to blush even deeper.

"You two are just in love as always," she pointed out removing her hat and allowing her auburn curls to roam free. "I missed you!" She squealed before wrapping her arms around the Doctor tightly.

He immediately froze in place, cautiously meeting my eyes and I signed to him not to pull away, assuring him she was a friend. He awkwardly hugged her back until she pulled away confused.

"You don't remember me da-"

"-Autumn!" I quickly interrupted. "This is the Doctor, Doctor this is Autumn," I introduced before leaning closer to her. "You aren't born yet," I whispered in her ear before pulling away and giving the Doctor a innocent smile.

"Wren," he said in warning.

"So we should probably freshen up before dinner man am I hungry," I said trying to change his train of thought.

"Wren," he calls out again.

"I hope they have dessert," I continued to ramble. "I haven't had ice cream in since, well ever." I chuckled nervously.

"Serenity Jessica Logan," he said grabbing me by my shoulders and making me face him. His brown eyes bore harshly into my greens making it hard to look away. "She looks just like you," he whispered. "Why does she look just like you?"

"It's probably your glasses."

"I'm not wearing them," he said rolling his eyes.

"Exactly. If you were you would see that we look nothing alike duh." I pulled away and began to quickly stick Autumn's hair back into her hat. Satisfied when it was hidden from view again.

"I want answers. The scenarios I'm playing in my head are beginning to make me freak out," he admitted as he glanced between the two of us. "An oddly enough she looks familiar. I think I've seen her somewhere before didn't you say she was your cousin before?"

I looked at Autumn and we shrugged at each other. It seems she's already met an incarnation of the Doctor or well she hasn't done it yet but- ugh! Time travel never gets an easier to understand and I swear it's going to drive me mad.

"Doctor. I swear someday you'll understand," I told him seriously. "Right now I can't really tell you without like screwing up timelines and all that. Until that time comes let's just say yes she is my cousin. So please don't ask me anything else about her and be nice."

He went silent as he looked between the two of us again. After a moment he sighed seemingly accepting that answer though he was far from being happy about it.

"It's a pleasure to meet you again Autumn," the Doctor greeted shaking her hand.

"Pleasures all mine Doctor." She smirked.

"May I ask why you're dressed like that?" He said squinting his eyes as he looked at her clothes.

"I like to take on different characters as I travel."

That answer seemed to interest him as a smile began to overtake his features. Though before he could respond there was a knock at the door.

"That'll be dinner," the Doctor said as he took my hand in his and opened the door.

Sir Robert stood there with a sad smile on his face and began leading us down the hall. I thought back on the episode and my heart sank when I remembered his fate. I know I know, I'm not supposed to change things I'm not supposed to save people who are meant to die. But I couldn't stop thinking about his wife and how brave they both were, don't people like that deserve a happy ending sometimes?

"Oh York," I called out as we stopped at the dining room entrance. I secretly handed her a the flask that I had brought along earlier and whispered quick instructions in her ear before I said aloud. "Be a dear and check in on Ms. Tyler for me." She bowed to me before disappearing back down the hall.

Autumn slowly and carefully made her way through the eerily silent hallway. Her instincts were telling her that something wasn't right and she could feel it deep in her stomach. Perhaps something bad had happened to that Rose girl and that was why her mother had sent her to go check in on her. She couldn't help but feel the excitement linger in her stomach as she was now getting a better taste of what it was like to have an adventure with her brilliant parents. Admittedly, she could do with out the romance but it was nice to see how much they cared about each other. That also made her very aware of the way this Rose woman looked at her father. The girl definitely has a crush on him. What ever happened to Martha and Donna? She was really looking forward to being with them again.

Once she finally reached the room she knocked quietly enough for no one else to hear but whoever was present in the room. It took only a moment for the blonde woman to open the door and look at her suspiciously.

"Wren and the Doctor sent me," she told her using her normal voice which surprised Rose.

Without waiting to be invited in she walked pass her into the room and quickly took her hat off again. She shook her head and her curls bounced and fell loosely around her face and down her shoulders.

"It's so hot under that hat," Autumn complained as she dropped back onto the bed and sighed.

"You're a girl," Rose pointed out in surprise.

"Good eye," she joked sitting up on her elbows. "You're also a girl," she said with a laugh at the end.

"But what I meant was you're the girl from before, Wren's cousin."

"Cousin? She's my mum." Autumn immediately knew she was probably supposed to keep that to herself.

To say Rose's mouth dropped to floor was an understatement. Autumn literally had to get up and use her finger to close Rose's mouth. Fear immediately filled the pit of her stomach as she stumbled out her next words.

"Who's your father?"

Autumn examined her expression and nearly patted herself on the back. This girl definitely had a thing for her father and she was absolutely terrified that Autumn could possibly be the Doctors which well, she was.

"I'll tell you but it's a secret that the Doctor doesn't know. He hasn't been there just yet and so I think you've been traveling with him long enough to know what'll happen if you do."

Rose absently nodded.

"I actually come from a machine," she explains. "It's complicated," she decided. "There's a machine that takes a persons DNA and then produces a full grown solider from it. Long story short Wren's hand got put in the machine and bam here I am," she finished with a grin. "Seems it wasn't all that complicated after all."

She decided against telling Rose the full truth. She wanted her to feel smug as though she had a chance with the Doctor and then she wanted to yank the rug right from under her when she later found out the truth, if she ever did. She grinned internally as her parents would not approve.

"Tricky," Rose said still in shock.

"Right. Oh." She stuck her hand out and Rose hesitantly took it. "Autumn Natalie Logan at your service," she introduced with a huge smile that did indeed have reminisce of Wren. "Though apparently we've already met."

"Rose Tyler," she introduced shaking her hand.

"So shall we get you dressed m'lady? Queen Victoria will not be amused if you show up for dinner naked," she joked and Rose genuinely smiled at her for the first time, a small chuckle leaving her lips.

"Oh I think I like you Autumn."

"We shall see with time Rose Tyler, we shall see."

"Your companion begs an apology Doctor. Her clothing has somewhat delayed her though your assistant York is currently solving the problem," Angelo told us as we sat around the dining room table enjoying my first real meal in weeks.

"Oh that's all right. Save them a wee bit of ham," the Doctor said.

"The feral child could probably eat it raw," Queen Victoria chimed in causing the captain of her guard to burst into laughter.

"Very wise ma'am! Very witty!" He said loudly and the Queen looked at him with a raised eyebrow. The Doctor and I shared an amused look before turning back to laughing captain.

"Slightly witty perhaps," she admits. "I know you rarely get the chance to dine with me, Captain, but don't get too excited. I shall contain my wit in case I do you further."

"Yes, ma'am. Sorry, ma'am," he apologized meekly.

"Besides," the Doctor interrupted having magnificent timing. "We're all waiting on Sir Robert! Come Sir! You promised us a tale of nightmares."

"Indeed," Victoria agreed. "Since my husband's death I find myself with more of a taste for supernatural fiction."

"You must miss him," I said and she looked at me sadly.

"Very much. Oh, completely."

Her gaze seemed to go pass me as she appeared to be lost in thought. I kind of understood where she was coming from. I wouldn't know what to do if I ever lost the Doctor. I love him so much I couldn't ever see my life without him. Without realizing I reached under the table and grabbed his hand. Only when he squeezed it did I realize that I had done it. I looked up to meet his eyes and he gave me a gentle smile telling me he knew exactly what I was thinking.

"That's the charm of a ghost story though isn't it?" Queen Victoria continued breaking her trance. "Not the scares and chills that's just for children but the hope of some contact with the great beyond."

The Doctor looked at her intensely seeming to understand what she was saying on a more massive scale.

"We all want some message from that place, it's the Creator's greatest mystery that we are allowed no such consolation. The dead stay silent and we must wait." She seemingly drags herself out of her previous train of thought though she and the Doctor remain solemn. I squeezed his hand tighter knowing where his mind was going. "Come! Begin your tale Sir Robert. There's a chill in the air. The wind is howling through the eaves. Tell us of monsters." She insisted.

"He's nothing like us. That creature is not mortal!"

A woman whispered shouted bringing Autumn from her unconscious state. She slowly blinked her eyes and looked around to see she and Rose had been chained together in the cellar with apparently the missing staff of the house. She quickly sat up and tried to remember what had happened. She and Rose found one the maids in the closet, Flora. Then they were going to return to the Doctor and tell them that apparently the bald head men were up to no good but they ran into a unconscious body on the floor. Then she remembered hearing Flora's small scream before something hard hit her head and knocked her out.

"You alright?" Rose asked with concern and Autumn only nodded in response as she was caught into the black eyes of the man whom was in a cage a bit away from them.

Both she and Rose stood up and began to walk closer towards him curiously. Was he also trapped down here like us or was he something else entirely.

"Don't," the missing lady of the house warned them but was ignored as they shared a look with one another before continuing. Once they were as close as the the chains would allow them, Rose kneels while Autumn prefers to stand.

"Who are you?" Rose asked into the silence.

"Don't enrage him," a man from behind them warns.

"Where are you from?" Rose continues with her questions.

"Definitely not from Earth," Autumn decides.

"Right. What planet are you from?"

"Oh, intelligence," the man finally speaks looking between the two of them with this wide eyed expression.

"Where were you born?"

"This body? Ten miles away. A weakling heartsick boy stolen away at night by the brethren for my cultivation. I carved out his soul and sat in his heart," he said creepily his voice dropping at the end.

"So the body's human but what about you? The thing inside?" Autumn now asks with interest.

"So far from home." Was his only answer.

"If you wanna get back home we can help," Rose said right away reassuringly.

"Why would I leave this place? A world of industry, of workforce, and warfare. I could turn it to such purpose."

"How would you do that?"

"I would migrate to the Holy Monarch."

"Queen Victoria," Autumn whispered under her breath and Rose turned to meet her eyes before she looked back at the man.

"Did you mean Queen Victoria?" She asked.

"With one bite I would pass into her blood. And then it begins, the Empire of the Wolf! So many questions-" he trails off before he suddenly lunges forward making the prisoners, including Rose, and Autumn jump back and gasp in shock. "Look! Inside your eyes! You've seen it too!" He continues as though nothing had happen.

"Seen what?" Rose asked shaking.

"The Wolf! There is something of the Wolf about you!"

Autumn looks at Rose confused as Rose stares back at him, breathing heavily.

"I don't know what you mean."

"You burnt like the sun but all I require is the moon."

Men entered the room and opened the shades covering the windows allowing the moonlight to enter the room and bathe the man in it.

"The moonlight," he sighed gratefully as he slipped off his cloak.

The wind began to pick up and it was obvious that some sort of change was about to happen and so Autumn quickly began looking for a way out. Done with her whole disguise she took the hat off and tossed somewhere as she began to trace the Cain back to where it hung in the wall.

"Stop staring at it all of you!" Rose yelled to the quivering staff. "All of you grab onto the chain and pull. When only a couple of people listened to her Rose turned to face the rest of them. "I said pull. Stop you whining and listen to me. That means you your lady ship now come on!"

Now that the true intentions of this night had been revealed. Sir Robert, the Doctor, and I raced down to the cellar where the others were being detained by chains. We arrived just in time to see that they had broken free and that there was a werewolf sitting inside of a cage.

A tiny party of me was fangirling because you know, werewolf.

"Where the hell have you two been?" Rose yelled at us.

There was so much panic, screaming, and chaos as everyone was trying to get as far away from the beast as possible excluding the Doctor whom was staring in a awe and mumbling about how beautiful it was. It wasn't until the cage fully broke that he realized he also needed to run. He took my hand and led me from the room locking the door behind him.

"Are you ok?" I asked Autumn quickly checking her over for injuries and frowning once I saw there was dried blood on the back of her head. "Who hurt you? I will-" I trailed off when the Doctor gave me a warning look. "I was going to say sonic them," I lied and Autumn only smiled despite our situation.

My eyes wondered to where Sir Robert and his wife Isobel were holding and comforting one another. A low growl caught the Doctors attention and he wandered down the hall confirming that the werewolf was finally free and coming for us. As the women ran for the kitchens Autumn gave my hand a form squeeze before she told me with only her eyes that she was going to stay with them. I nodded my approval as the men lined up with there weapons and awaiting the wolfs approach. I took Rose's hand in mine and squeezed it reassuringly which got a surprised look from her though she smiled flustered at me.

The wolf turned the corner and again I was awestruck at his appearance, it was well, so real. The men immediately fired there guns and shot the beast causing him to run away and devise a new plan.

"We should retreat upstairs. Everybody follow me," the Doctor said but was immediately dismissed by one of the men.

"I'll not retreat, the battles done. There's not a creature on Earth that could survive such an assault," he said.

"I'm telling you, come upstairs!" The Doctor yelled trying to save the mans life.

"And I am telling you sir that I will sleep well tonight with that things hide upon my wall!" He yelled back at the Doctor. The Doctors face fell and I could see how desperate he was in that moment wanting to save that man as well as everyone else but not able to force anyone to do anything they didn't want to. I gently touched his shoulder letting him know that I was there.

The walked to where the wolf had been moments ago to check for it and turned back to us with a satisfied smirk.

"It must have crawled away to die-"

He was cut off as the wolf grabbed him from above and proceeded to tear him to pieces. The sound was so brutal and bone crushing I thought I was going to be sick.

"Nothing we can do!" The Doctor yelled before he pulled and Rose along out of the room followed by Sir Robert.

Not following the Doctor the rest of the men were devoured just as brutally and became my motivation to run even faster though it made my heart drop into the pit of my stomach. No one deserved such a painful death, no one.

Except weeping angels.

The Doctor checked the front door which was very well blocked. We hurried back to the hall where Queen Victoria whom was coming from upstairs where I gathered she shot Angelo and required her diamond.

"The front doors no good it's boarded shut," the Doctor said. Pardon me your majesty you'll have to hightail it out of a window."

She straightened herself before heading into the room the Doctor indicating with us following behind her.

"Excuse my manners mam but I shall go first to better assist her magistrate egress," Sir Robert spoke up.

"Yeah, any chance you could hurry up," the Doctor said rudely.

Agreeing with him Sir Robert climbed up on the table and opened the window. As he began to climb out shots were fired at him and he hurriedly jumped back inside. The Doctor climbed up next to him and they poked their heads out to see more bald men in red clothing holding guns.

"I reckon the monkey boys want us to stay in," the Doctor said.

"Do they know who I am?" Queen Victoria asked.

"Yea, that's why they want you," Rose told her. "The wolfs lined you up for a biting," she explained.

"Now stop this talk. There can't be an actual wolf," she said just as said wolf howled making its presence known.

We all ran into the hallway to see the wolf breaking through the locked door.

"What do we do?" Rose asked.

"We run," the Doctor and I said at he same time.

"Is that it?" She asked.

"You got any silver bullets?"

"Not on me no."

"There we are then, we run. Your Majesty as a doctor I recommend a vigorous jog, good for your health," he says quickly jogging in place before taking off and leading us upstairs.

I didn't want to complain because well running came with the job description and well I'll admit it's made me quite fit along the way and ensured I never really had to workout. But running in a free with a huge full body skirt had to be the hardest thing I've ever done. Pretty close to being shot. None the less I gathered my skirt up in my arms and ran as hard as I could up what felt like a million steps. Though no matter how fast we ran it felt like the wolf was faster and I could feel his presence directly behind us causing my heart to thump out of my chest.

Just as we got to the corner I saw the wolfs reflection in the window jumping towards us ready to attack and just in the nick of time a solider turned the corner and shot it causing him to fly back and run away giving us just a bit more time to get away.

"I'll take his position and hold it. You keep moving for god sake," he said as he reloaded his gun. "Your Majesty I went to look for the property it was taken, the chest was empty," he said to the Queen.

"I have it, it's safe," she told him out of breath.

"Then remove yourself mam," he said with a quick smile at her cunningness. "Doctor, you stand as her Majesty's protector. You Sir Robert, you're a traitor to the crown," he said cocking his gun.

"Bullets can't stop it!" The Doctor tried to warn him.

"They'll buy you time now run!" He yelled waving us off and with a moment of hesitance we turned and continued to run to the end of the hallway running into the last room. I heard the sickening crunch as the beast fed killed again and I turned to see Rose still standing in he hallway.

"Come on then," I said quickly grabbing her and rushing into the room only to trip over my own dress and fall to the floor. "Bugger," I grunted as I landed harder than I thought I would.

It happened all at once. The Doctor and Rose grabbed my arms and began dragging me in the room as Sir Robert closed the door catching the bottom of my dress which ripped off leaving my legs up to my knees bare though the door was closed just in time to stop the wolf.

"Well this is embarrassing," I said standing up and dusting my busted knees off.

"Barricade the door," the Doctor said quickly.

We made quick picking up all the furniture we could reach and jammed it against he door. The wolf went silent and the Doctor placed his ear against the door listening for him. A small growl left his lips before he seemingly walked away.

"He's gone?" The Doctor said.

"Listen," Rose whispered as movement and snarled could be heard moving around the outside of the room.

"Is this the only door?" The Doctor asked.

"Yes," Sir Robert said not fully paying attention. "No!" He suddenly shouted and they rushed to the second door in the room and quickly barricaded it with more chairs. The wolf seemingly tried to get in but gave up as it could not enter and then we all breathed a sigh of relief.

"I don't understand. What's stopping it?" Rose asked.

"Something inside of this room," the Doctor answered as he curiously looked around for any indication of what could possibly stop the wolf from just simply coming in. "What is it? Why can't it get in?" He asked aloud as he walked around the room examining it.

"I'll tell you what though," Rose started.

"What?" He asked.

"Werewolf," she said as a grin began to touch her lips.

"I know," the Doctor said excitedly smiling and hugging Rose as she exhaled a sigh of relief and laugh. "Are you alright?" He asked her.

"I'm ok."

As Sir Robert began to apologize to the Queen the Doctor came over and examined my bloody knees. I hissed when he touched them and quickly pulled away from his touch.

"Are you ok?" He asked with concern as he pulled me into his arms.

"Peachy," I answered leaning up and kissing his cheek. "Kinda feel like I'm in Twilight except way less romantic," I joked earning a smile from him.

"Did you think there was nothing strange about my household staff?" Sir Robert asked to which the Doctor immediately responded to without missing a beat.

"Well they were bald, athletic, and your wife was away. I just thought you were happy."

I wrinkled my nose in response weirdly enough feeling the urge to laugh at his response but seeing the Queens growing despair and anger, I held myself back even flinching when Rose asked her was she amused when this was clearly not the time considering what has happened.

"Do you think this funny?" The Queen asked her scoldingly and Rose immediately flinched back as she realized her mistake.

"No mam I'm sorry," she quickly apologized.

"What exactly I pray tell me someone please, what exactly is that creature?" She asked becoming more unsettled with every second that passed.

"You'd call it a werewolf but technically it's more of a lupine wavelength haemovariform," the Doctor answered .

"And should I trust you sir? You who change your voice so easily. What happened to your accent?"

"Oh right sorry," he said sheepishly realizing that in the chaos of things that he had let his accent slip. "But-"

"-I'll not have it!" She said cutting him off "no sir not you, none of it. This is not my world."

Having finished her rant she waltz off and paced around the room as everyone else just sort of finally stared at one another. I watched the Doctor as he chose to go to work and began examining the walls and bookshelves.

"Hey," Rose whispered as she settled next to me. "Thanks for back there, are you alright?" She asked and I gave her a weak smile.

Now that the adrenaline had worn off my knees were bloody killing me but I was not about to admit that out loud

"It's what we go yeah?" I said playfully bumping her arm. She gave me a small smile but I noticed that she still hadn't met my eyes. "Is something the matter?" I finally asked.

She was silent for a moment before she turning and met my eyes.

"Look about New New York, I'm really sorry. I let my mouth and my emotions get the better of me and I'm sorry for the things I've said," she apologized all at once and I began to worry.

"First the Doctor and now you're apologizing. What exactly happened?" I asked not wanting to experience it first hand.

"The Doctor already apologized?" She asked surprised her eyes flipping towards him.

"As soon as he got me alone," I told her. "The kissing, hugging, and saying sweet nothings gave it away that he had probably down something he was ashamed of," I whispered. "He apologized and begged for forgiveness for something o haven't been through yet and it's scary. He told me that when the time came know that he didn't mean it and that he would never do anything to make me question my love for him."

"He said that?" She asked a little louder? "That he didn't mean any of it?"

I could tell that her expression was starting to turn from being sincere to being hurt and angry. I knew I had to trail carefully but it was hard seeing as I didn't know what had happen.

"Rose, tell me what happened," I asked her and she hesitated for a moment before her eyes cleared and she put a fake smile on her face.

"It was nothing."

With that she turned away ending the conversation indefinitely and causing me to worry more than I had been. I didn't realized I had completely spaced out I was I heard the Queen voice grow loud as she called out to Sir Robert. I looked up to see that they had been going through books and had figured what the monks had been up to.

"If I am to die here-" she started but was cut off.

"-don't say that your Majesty," Sir Robert said.

"I would destroy myself rather than let that creature infect me," she continued ignoring his request. "But that's no matter. I ask only that you find some place of safe keeping for something far older and more precious than myself," she said as she reached into her purse.

"Hardly the time to worry about your valuables," the Doctor said and I kicked him as I stood next to him.

"Rude," I whispered in his ear.

"Thank you for your opinion but there is nothing more valuable than this," she said pulling out the biggest and most beautiful diamond I had ever seen in my life. Like a child I really wanted to reach out and touch it though I knew that would result in my possible death.

"The greatest diamond in the world," the Doctor said as we all approached it with wide and child like expressions.

"Given to me as the spoils of war," the Queen told us. "Perhaps it's legend is finally coming true. It is said that whoever owns it must surely die."

"Well that's true of anything if you own it long enough," the Doctor said dismissively as he reached for it. "Can I?" He asked and she hesitated for a moment before she placed it in his hand. He fixed his glasses and began examining it as he turned it in his hand. "That is so beautiful."

"How much is that worth?" Rose asked.

"They say the wages of the entire planet for a whole week," I said taking the Doctors line and smiling at his raised eyebrow.

"Good job my moms not here, she'd be fighting the wolf off with her bare hands for that thing," Rose joked as she stared happily at the diamond.

"And she'd win," the Doctor added earning a chuckle from the both of us.

"Where is he wolf?" Sir Robert asked. "I don't trust this silence." He went off and began looking around the room.

"Why'd you travel with it?" The Doctor asked the Queen directing his attention back to her.

"My annual pilgrimage. I'm taking it to helier and Carew, the royal jewelers at hazelhead. The stone needs recurring."

"Oh it's perfect," Rose said.

"My late husband never thought so."

"Now there's a fact. Prince Albert kept having it cut down, it was forty percent bigger than this but he was never happy. Kept on cutting and cutting."

"He would say that the shine was not quite right. He died with it still unfinished.

"Unfinished," the Doctor repeated as an idea was suddenly coming to him. "Oh yes, there's a lot of unfinished business in this house. His fathers research, your husband mam, he came here and he sought he perfect diamond. Hold on hold on," he said messing his hair up as he walked around in circles. "All these separate things they're not separate at all they're connected. Oh my head, my head!" He yelled having his signature Doctor frenzy moment in which he put two and two together to save the day. "What if this house, it's a trap for you is that right mam?"

"Obviously."

"Or at least that's what the wolf intended. But what if there's a trap inside the trap?" He asked.

"Explain yourself Doctor."

"What if his father and your husband were just telling each other stories and they dare to imagine all of this is true and they planned against it. Lain a real trap not for you but for the wolf", he finished just as dust started dropping from above us.

We all looked up to see the wolf crawling across the glass finding it's way into our safe zone.

"That wolf there," the Doctor mumbled.

As he started breaking the glass the Doctor yelled for us to run and made record time moving the furniture blocking the door just as the wolf dropped in. We made a run for it and the Doctor closed the door behind us to no avail as the wolf was on us in seconds. I hauled my steps as I heard Rose scream and turned to see the wolf upright and ready to strike her. Right on time the lady of the house, her maids, and Autumn appeared throwing a pot of boiled mistletoe on the wolf making him retreat.

I hugged Autumn in relief to see she was ok as the Doctor and Rose went to see if the wolf had really gone.

"I'm so proud of you," I told her as she pulled away. "You're very brave," I said with a smile.

"Thanks Mum. Besides the life threatening situation I'd say I'm having the time of my life," she said. "Though I'm sure once the adrenaline wears off I'm probably going to faint." I shared a small laugh with her as I glanced at Lady Isobel and Sir Robert share a sweet kiss with one another. "Also I've got what you asked for." She handed me back my flask and I discreetly stuck it in my bodice.

"Thanks love. Now I want you to go wait with the others until all of this is over ok. Take care of yourself," I told her placing a kiss on her cheek and then shooing her off.

"Alright, come on," the Doctor said.

"The observatory is this way," Sir Robert informs us as he begins to lead the way and we make haste before the wolf decides to make its final stand.

The wolf growled letting me know that my thoughts had practically brought him up. Once we reached the observatory I took a deep breath as I tried to quickly decide what I was going to do. Save Sir Robert or let him meet the fate he was intended to.

"I said I'll find your time sir," he told the Doctor pulling me from my thoughts. "Now get inside."

A moment passed where we all just stared at him.

"Good man," the Doctor said before the doors closed and he asked he Queen for the diamond to stick inside the telescope.

I could hear the wolfs steps getting closer and closer and right as he approached I took the chance on doing something the Doctor had warned me about over and over again.

I took the flask out and dumped some of the boiled mistletoe over myself before I ran out the door slamming it behind me wincing at the Doctor hopelessly calling after me. Sir Robert looked surprised before I also doused him in some of the liquid before throwing the remaining of it at the wolf whom scattered back. My heart was beating out my chest as I attached myself in front of Sir Robert and took the sword he was holding, sticking it out to defend myself.

"Down Jacob," I said jokingly though my knees were quaking with fear.

"What are you doing?" Sir Robert asked me.

"Buying them time and saving your life all at once. It's basically what I do."

It was silence once more as the wolf sized us up before deciding her could take the both of us and charged roaring in his approached. A battle yell of my own left my lips as I swung at his moving body just barely scratching him as we switch places and I kept Sir Robert at my backside. He charged us again and his time my swing landed and slashed across his face making him growl angrily. He smacked the sword from my hands and swung his paws nearly taking our heads off if we hadn't of ducked. The second one took me off guard and he slashed me across my entire stomach causing me pain and sending me and Sir Robert flying down the stairs. It wasn't until the third flight of stairs when we finally stopped falling. I quickly looked up to see the wolf hadn't followed after us and so I fell back to the floor and allowed myself to relax as the pain set in.

"Bloody hell thats hurt," I whined as the breath was taken out of me. "Sir Robert are you still alive?" I asked quickly as I remembered he was with me.

"Fine," he groaned out. "I think my legs broken."

I sighed in relief as I had done what I had set out to do. The Doctor was going to be plenty pissed but how could fate punish a man whom had lost and won his honor all in one night and a woman whom during the darkest hour had mustered her bravery and saved us, saved Rose.

"Mum!" Came Autumn's voice as she and the others approached us and began to help us down the rest of the stairs. As far as I could tell I hadn't broken anything but the pain in my stomach was the worst. "Are you ok? Of course you're not ok you just fought a wolf and fell down three sets of stairs!" She exclaimed. "And you told me to be careful and not reckless," she scorned.

"Ok so my plan wasn't the smartest."

She merely glared in response.

"Ok it was completely stupid but at least he's alive." I said watching as the happy coupled shared a kiss. "Damn the consequences."

"Dad's not going to be happy about this," Autumn said.

"Which is why I would like you to hurry up and get me out of here before he comes down here and yells at me. He's going to ground me I just know it."

Ah only laughs as she helps me up from my seat and wraps her arms around me as she begins carrying me towards the front door.

"Wait please! Miss!" Lady Isobel stopped us before we could leave. "You saved my husband even when he was ready to sacrifice it for the Queen, for the country," she said. "I don't know what I would do without him and so I thank you, you and your companion," she said looking towards Autumn now. "Thank you for all the help you provided us. May your lives be filled with happiness, the both of you. We are forever in your debt."

"Don't worry about it," I told her waving her off. "You saved us and so I owed you one," I told her with a gentle smile. "Take care of yourselves and live a long and happy life."

We nodded to one another in goodbye and Autumn carried me to the carriage. She had to drive very slowly because of my injuries and literally made it to the Tardis just a few minutes before Rosa and the Doctor come strolling up. At the sight of me he took off running and and pulled me into his arms when he was close enough. I yelped out in pain and he pulled away only to scold me not caring at the moment that I was hurting.

"Are you completely thick or did you leave brain inside the Tardis?" He yelled at me. "You're lucky I had no idea what you were planning because there was no way I would have ever going to let you go through with it! You were completely reckless with your life and threw it away without ever thinking how it would effect those around you. Those who care about you!"

"I'm sorry-"

"-I'm going to need way more than a sorry Wren! Way more!" He continued though his anger was slipping and I could see the tears welling up in his eyes. "I thought for moment that I had lost you. I thought I had lost you in the most painful way ever. I was waiting for minutes to hear you painful screams of agony. I was afraid I was going to have to see your mangled body," he whispered now and I felt so bad I thought my heart was going to rip apart.

I reached out for his hand and he flinched before he allowed me to take it. I brought it to my lips and kissed it tenderly.

"I am sorry Doctor, I swear it."

His body relaxed before I felt him pull back and gasp. I looked up to notice he was staring at my bodice where three huge claw marks were visible across my stomach.

"It scratched you?" He said worriedly.

Without further words he grabbed my hand and led me towards the Tardis.

"Bye Autumn! I enjoyed spending time with you, come see me again soon! I love you!" I yelled out.

"I love you too!" She shouted back. "See you when your punishment is over," she joked before I disappeared into the Tardis.

"Ow," I groaned as I pulled away from him. "It's hurts you know."

In response he picked me up and headed up the stairs and only stopped once we reached his room. He carefully placed me on my feet before he began to pace.

"Take it off," he said stopping in front of me.

"What?" I asked in surprised.

"I said take it off!" He yelled and once he realized that I still hadn't move, he dropped to his knees and begin ripping my dress apart.

"What are you doing?" I asked becoming angry.

Once he got it a loose he pulled it down my shoulders and chest until he exposed my stomach area and sighed when he saw the corset that had faint scratch marks on it he realized that the scratch didn't actually reach my skin. As he carefully removed the corset from me he stroked the barely visible welts on my sling before he gently laid his head against my stomach and held me tightly against him. I reached down and ran my fingers through his hair as he conveyed his feelings through the simple contact.

"I love you," he said into the silence. "I was worried about you."

"I know and I'm sorry. I love you too."

He pulled away just as I began to glow and then seconds later I had shifted and stood practically naked with my clothes hanging off of me in front of Nine. He just simply stared at me with concern and confusion.

"Hey Rude boy," I said breaking the silence.

"What in the hell happened to you?" He asked.

"Well to be fair you did this," I started. "Well not the bloody knees, or the cuts and bruises. But you stripped my out of my clothes to check for injuries."

He didn't say anything just scanned me with his sonic screwdriver. He read it and frowned before he took my hand and directed me up the stairs. He walked me to the bathroom and ran a bubble bath before he helped me out of the rest of my clothes. Once I was in the tub he began to wash me up and while I was a bit embarrassed I quite enjoyed it.

"You've got a cracked rib," he told me. "Everything else is minor and will heal in time."

"Thank you."

I remained silent as his hand soothingly cleaned my body and then he helped me out and gave me a white sundress to wear. He gave me pain meds and left me to get changed and once I was done I headed back downstairs to meet him.

"I've got a surprise for you," he told me as he took my hand and led me outside of the Tardis.

The music reached my ears before I took in the view. I found myself grinning from ear to ear as I rushed to the railing of the building and looked down to see none other than Ed Sheeran performing live.

"Rude boy!" I yelled excitedly as I rushed into his arms.

"I promised I'd take you didn't I? Plus he's not the worst singer ever," he said not wanting to admit that he enjoyed his music. "Happy Valentine's Day Wren. I love you." He said sincerely before placing a kiss on my lips.

"I love you too."

He spun me around and pressed my back against him and swayed us to the music and I was content in his arms.

I had no idea it was Valentine's Day.
