"Captains Outrageous…"

Summary: Strictly and utterly for fun. Imagining our favorite seestras as Captains of the Federation flagship.

Rachel…And Krystal…

Centauri Prime, Starfleet local HQ…

A jail cell…Which even on Centauri Prime, premier holiday spot of the Federation, remains…A jail cell…

"Hey! Why'd you cut off my assistant?!" Krystal called. "I have the right to contact a lawyer and family or designated associates."

"I'm sorry, Ms. Goderitch." Daniel's image on cell viewscreen. "We can't permit unauthorized communication, particularly holo, in the detention area, during a crisis situation, under Federation General Order Four. You've had your call to your station's lawyer and we'll allow others shortly. In fact, we expect to resolve this in a short time…You understand we're only holding you for your safety, given the upset outside."

"I'm not a Borg!" she cried.

"We're very sure of that. Just let us calm people down and we can safely release you. It is really for your protection." His image noted.

"If I'm brainwashed or replaced by an android or a shifter, my people will know…We have codes!" she insisted.

"Why would we do that, Ms. Goderitch?" Daniel stared.

Jesus, the things people see on holoYouTube these days…

Though I don't say we couldn't…

"This smells like Starfleet cover-up to me, pal! But no fake or programmed Goderitch will fool my guys!"

"That's fine. Contact the guard via the green button on the panel's left if you want anything."

(Well, at least she's dressed…Rachel noted via neural implant to Daniel, eyeing Krystal in her suit on her office screen. Bet that's a big disappointment…Mentally sneering.

Actually…Rosen, leaning back in his chair at the Centauri center's office… I think a woman is much more alluring in a nice outfit. Contentedly sensing Rachel's seething fume…

What's the goddamn word on the Borg and Helena…Captain? Her rage penetrating even in a neural link…Even as did his amusement.

There's nothing. They're either very well cloaked or fled the system, more likely the latter. Admiral Hardcastle has a battle group scrambled on the Centauri system fringe but they've detected no signs. Dierden's with them…)

May the Force blow him out of space…He thought. Though, being, in my way, a Federation patriot, just his own ship.

(Yeah…I'm in contact with him now, Rachel noted…)

Hah…Smugly. That'll get him…She thought.

Gosh, am I fickle? This is fickle to be so pissed at Daniel while carrying on a plot and having an affair with Ferdinand, if I understand the definition. But you know, it's like being in a happy marriage but naturally carrying on with some other neat guy. Wealthy, powerful women do it all the time, Cosmo says.

Kinda curious myself to see how it'll play out. Will I go for comfortable monitor sorta Dudley Do Right Starfleet psycho killer semi-husband who might be won over to my Borg plans or ambitious psycho mercenary firmly on board with Galactic conquest hot lover who really wants kids?

Well, blame it on our genes. Hey, look at Sarah? Runs round with every guy she sees with a decent-sized…

(Administrator? I have work to do here, unless there's more…Daniel projected. Yeah, yeah…Carry on and keep me informed, she insisted. I have to finish with Paul anyway….Duncan out…She hurried finished.)

Hah!

"So…Commodore Dierden. Sorry I was occupied for a moment." She turned to Paul on viewscreen where he sat in at a sensor monitoring panel.

"Rosen ok? I guess he had his hands full with that reporter sister of yours." Paul smiled. "Tell him I had a great time and hope we can resume our leaves soon."

"Did you?" archly.

"…talk about you? A little." He grinned.

"Commodore, I just want your report, if you're able and secure. Save the personal and any commentary."

"Fine. Nothing to report. No sign nor hair of the Borg vessel. I'd say they likely transwarped but if they used a conduit, there's no signature. Nor any sign they destroyed it on leaving."

"Pity. A working Borg transwarp conduit would be a prize."

"Don't we have a couple in Section 51?" he smiled.

"Commodore…" she glared. "If there's no way to track Helena and the Borg, you need to return to Centauri Prime, rejoin Daniel, and find out what Sarah's up to there."

"Sounds fun." He beamed. "But I'm here on Admiral Hardcastle's order."

"We'll get that overridden. I doubt you're that essential to a patrol duty."

"Good enough. Glad I packed light. Any word from Beth Childs and the Enterprise?"

She blinked…That was supposed to be classified and Beth was on a secure shielded link at the conference.

"I keep informed, ma'am."

Aldous and his favorites…Slight fume. I'd bet he'd never have told me if the roles were reversed.

"No. Nothing as yet."

"I'd warn them the Borg were active here. That ship might just be enroute to them if it only warped and there's an active conduit hidden in that nebula."

"I thought you 'kept informed'?" sneer. "Childs was at the holoconference with you and Daniel that Hardcastle demanded. I'm sure she'll be on guard."

"That's good."

What? He really has feelings for her? Rachel stared.

Daniel was right…Damn him, I owe him twenty bucks. But I can pretend I never heard this.

"So nice you care…" sneer. "I'm sure she'll invite you to her wedding."

He stared, a bit startled.

Not so well informed, I see.

Jesus, poor guy. He really did like her.

Good…

"She and her first officer are tying the knot. Didn't Admiral Leekie inform his fair-haired boy?" she cooed.

"That's wonderful… I'm happy for her. He's a good man." Paul noted, calmly.

Oh…Gee…She stared.

No, I'm delighting in his suffering.

Besides, he was supposed to be a third charm on my bracelet…Junior but a nice plaything to make my senior boys jealous, frown.

But he does look so…Gallantly sad.

Eh, he'll probably be doing all he can to break them up in a week or so…

"So you'll arrange things with Hardcastle for my return?" he asked. "Better make it quick if I'm to catch up with Sarah."

Poor guy indeed… "Catch up with Sarah"?, uh-huh? Like dress her back up in Beth's uniform and sprawl her out on that conference table again and…Hmmn?…Oh, yeah…Schemes to play out…

"Certainly. You should be ready to leave in the hour."

"Tell Danny, I'm looking forward to spending more time with him." Paul smiled. "Excalibur out."

"Right. Duncan out."

Well, he did seem sad, for him, actually.

God, I've got to tell Daniel he's calling him "Danny".

Aboard the Enterprise, in the Ruysen Nebula…

Captain's Bridge Conference Room…

"Well, what do you make of that?" President Janeway on viewscreen eyed Cosima as she stood at newly allowed ease, Beth leaning back in her chair.

"I'd say the Borg were moving to resume their project to create a slave race of us asap, courtesy Helena, ma'am." Cosima noted.

"No doubt…But I'm also interested in knowing how they penetrated to within 5 light years of the capital of the Federation without triggering any alarms."

"Their vessel, at least the one they all left in, was a Federation design…If it had the normal side codes and no obvious weapons…" Beth noted.

"Though it is kinda different, the Borg going to that much trouble to infiltrate a Federation planet." Cosima blurted, before nervously pausing. "Sorry, Captain."

"Unheard of…" the voice of Admiral Leekie, Cosima hurriedly glancing over to her right where Leekie now stood.

Q…?

"Sorry, I should have warned you Admiral Leekie was joining us. In somewhat more corporeal form than me." Janeway noted.

"Of course, sorry sir." Cosima stood at attention.

"At ease, Lieutenant…The President and I thought I should be here and check in with the Captain and you as well as her." Leekie nodded, with smile. "With your Captain's permission?" Beth nodding. "Please be seated, Lieutenant."

Cosima taking seat…

"Protocol requires that the Admiral and I caution you that everything being said here is classified." Janeway noted from her screen. "But it shouldn't have been possible for a Borg ship to enter Federation space via transwarp conduit or a Federation ship, even a civilian cruiser to leave Centauri at warp without our sensor grid detecting it."

"We even detected Helena's cloaked ship when she crossed into our space and hid in the Helix Nebula." Leekee nodded. "Yes, we do have sensors that good…And yes, we did allow Helena to enter Federation space."

"To make contact with us…" Cosima eyed him, then the President, Beth likewise, calmly.

"With more or less complete freedom." Janeway shrugged. "We wanted to see what she was up to. If her motives had been hostile, we would have intervened to protect you and your sisters. But I suspected her wish to meet Sarah and break with the Tal Shiar was sincere."

"You've been watching her, spying on the Romulans…" Beth noted. "You've an agent or agents among the Tal Shiar."

"Naturally…" Leekie nodded. "As they do or have tried to have among our people…Not successfully we believe among Section 51. Though in Helena's case, the agent communicating was acting in her interests and not ours…But I can't go further."

"You spoke to her, didn't you? You told her it was safe to come to the Federation…" Beth coldly to Janeway and Leekie. "You've been directing this whole thing. She's working for you."

"Helena? Certainly not." Leekie smiled. "Hell, she'd kill our S51 leadership if we ever tried to give her orders. But we did suggest a mutual interest and it did help to prepare the way for your meeting her."

"It did seem fast, her conversion from clone killer to seestra…" Cosima frowned.

"Utterly sincere, I'm sure…But we did provide her with evidence of what Tomas had been up to with the Borg."

"And now, she's on a mission…For you?"

"Please…" Leekie chuckled. "For you, for all of you…And incidentally only, the rest of us, as in all Quadrant sentient life."

"But she has what the Borg want, her eggs…Her genetic material…" Beth began…

"No…They got that already…" Cosima shook head. "They wanted her…They can't bring their clones to term without her."

"Just as we couldn't do so…And there were many tries, especially after Picard's first encounter…" Leekie sighed, rising for a moment and returning with a cup of coffee suddenly materialized in his holographic hands. "Sorry, I'm a bit bushed."

"Good idea. Think I'll have one myself…" Janeway smiled. A cup appearing by her in a moment.

"So what…They'll use Helena and Sarah to breed thousands of clones…?" Beth, staring.

Like to see them try…Cosima thought.

"No, just one or two, successfully to term. Once they do that they can determine proper conditions. Your father was very clever about that…Ethan Duncan, your creator, I mean." Before Beth could insist that she had had her own much beloved father.

"Then why let them take her?" Cosima shook head.

"We didn't expect them to show their hand so soon…Or on Centauri Prime." Leekie shrugged. "We'd thought they'd developed a bit more respect for Federation technology and creativity, courtesy the President's last encounter. Still, Johannsen is probably getting a bit desperate, the Unimatrix Zero Resistance breaks more Borg worlds free every year."

Janeway, a wry smile.

"So it's true…" Beth eyed her. "You did sanction Captain Janeway's violation of the temporal directive to bring our technology back to her…Your time."

"It is. But, open a secret as it is, lets pretend it's still a secret." The President nodded.

Who can you trust if not yourself, after all? Beth, Cosima each thought.

"And that's an order, ladies." She noted. "Though I hope my in-laws will do it as much for the sake of family. Congratulations, Beth." Smile to Beth. "Tell Arthur his uncle Tuvok is pleased with his choice."
