Chapter 5: Dangerous Situations part 1-Complications Begin

Sector Seven

Kokonoe was watching her monitors that were connected to Lambda's visor. She arrived to Kagutsuchi and was only a few minutes away from the designated point. "Alright Lambda. Make sure not to engage the targets. And believe me, it can be quite the effort with Ragna there."

Lambda replied with a simple, emotionless "Affirmative."

"Don't you think that's a bit exaggerating, Kokonoe?" a voice through the intercom said.

"As if you know anything about him, Tager." Kokonoe replied to the voice, now revealed to be Tager.

"Well, he is the infamous Grim Reaper…"

"Just cut the small talk and tell me what's going on!" Kokonoe replied in anger.

Tager felt a sweat drop from his forehead while answering her "Uh… I'm at Litchi's clinic but there is no movement here."

"YOU COMPLETE IDIOT!" Kokonoe yelled so loud through her device that Tager felt like his eardrum will explode. "Of course they're not there! Litchi said they were leaving when I called you!" she took a deep breath to calm herself down… a tiny little bit. "Just get to the store before something shitty happens!"

"Um… copy that… on my way." he cut the connection and left to the designated place.

Kokonoe let out an irritated sigh. "That big bucket of bolts. He's at least an hour away with his speed and there's no telling what could happen until he gets there…"

"Targets sighted." Lambda suddenly said through her communicator.

Kokonoe quickly checked her monitor and saw that the group was standing outside the clothes shop. "Great work, Lambda. Prepare for retrieval."

"Affirmative." Lambda was about to jump down to her targets but something made her stop.

Kokonoe saw a glitch appear for a second on her screen. "Lambda? What was that?" she didn't get a reply. "Lambda!"

The murakumo girl came to her senses and replied "Unknown… error… occurred…"

"Damn it! I'll have to run a long range scan on her before moving forward. Lambda, stand by for further orders. I'll do a diagnostic check on you."

"Roger." she replied and stood still on a rooftop while overlooking her targets.

Kokonoe started her scan on Lambda. "Let's hope those guys can stay put until I finish this."

Kagutsuchi, Orient Town

"Finally… we found it…" Nova said in a tired way as he and the rest of the group were standing in front of the clothes shop that Litchi showed.

"This didn't take long." Noel commented.

Ragna sharply replied "It took us 2 fucking hours to find this place! Seriously Noel, do you have any sense of direction?!" At this sharp tone and hurtful words, her eyes started tearing up and Ragna started to panic. 'Oh crap! Not the crying treatment!' he thought. "Uh… sorry. I didn't mean that, I'm just tired after walking for 2 hours and limping on you for more before we got to the doc."

Noel's tears made a dead stop but she was still looking at Ragna as if she was stabbed to the heart. "So… I couldn't help you well…"

"Damn it, Noel! That's not what I mean!"

"Are you guys done with your lovers quarrel?" Emy chimed in, starting to feel awkward just being there.

Both Ragna and Noel blushed hard at being called lovers. "WE'RE NOT LOVERS!" they both yelled in unison.

Nova decided to tease them a bit. He smirked as he said "Of course not, Romeo and Juliet."

Ragna gave him a quick punch to the face. "Quit it, dummy!"

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"For having a terrible sense of humor!"

"At least I can crack a joke!"

"ENOUGH!" Emy yelled louder then the both of them and slapped the 2 boys to the store's wall so hard it left cracks on it.

Noel just looked surprised and said "Uh… Emy… that was… a bit too much…"

She waved off her comment and replied "Nah, they got off easy."

Ragna painfully got up and turned to Nova "Dude… your sis is scary as hell…"

"I know… I couldn't be more proud of her." he said in a caring big brother tone while running to Emy to give her a hug. All he got was a kick to his face.

"You know I'm not that emotional, bro." she said as her foot was still connected to his face.

Ragna sighed in annoyance and went to the entrance of the store. "Well come on. Let's get this over with." He walked in and the others followed.

Inside the store, Nova and Emy were awestruck at all the clothes they had. "Wow… cool place." Nova said as he started looking through some of the clothes they had there.

"Can I help you?" said a shop assistant who came up to them. She was a young girl with black hair and hazel brown eyes in an assistant's uniform.

Noel replied "Yes, our friends would like some new clothes please."

The girl looked at Nova and Emy and said "I'm not sure we can find a lot of stuff for him since…" she pointed at Nova's wings.

"Why am I not surprised?" he responded while just looking through the clothes.

The assistant then turned to Emy. "We do, however, have many nice dresses for this sweet young lady."

"I hate dresses. Give me and my bro something cool." she replied in a serious tone.

The shop assistant felt a bit uneasy but did as Emy told her. In a few minutes, she came back holding many clothes in her hands. "I think you'll find at least one of these satisfying." she said while having a smile on her face.

The siblings took the clothes and went to try them on, leaving Ragna and Noel alone to wait for them. "So… um…" Noel started, feeling a bit uneasy to ask "when we were… waiting at the clinic… you said the NOL ruined your life. How did it happen?"

"You sure you wanna know?" She nodded slightly. Ragna sighed as he started to tell Noel what happened to him in the past. "Okay then, but I'll warn you now… it's not a nice tale. When I was young, I had a brother and a sister…"

After Ragna's back story (yeah, I'm sure you don't need me retelling that, so let's just go on.)

"… and that's how we got here."

To say that Noel was very shocked would be an understatement. She couldn't believe that the NOL took her sister, burned his home, killed his foster parent and so on. What shocked her the most was that she looked like his sister. She put that aside for now and said "I don't believe this… you had such a horrible life…"

"I still do. You know I almost died back there if it wasn't for you… so… uh… thanks…"

Noel was surprised yet again as the man with the largest bounty on his head could show his more humane side to her. She took off her beret and tossed it into the trash. "I made my choice." she said confidently while turning to Ragna.

Ragna just stood there dumbstruck as he asked "What the hell do you mean? And why did you throw your cap in the trash?"

"Because that's where it belongs, along with most of the NOL. I know some people are good there but… the majority is not. You helped me realize this. For that I… I would like to fight with you!" she explained adding an emphasis to her last sentence.

Ragna stared at her with his eyes as wide as a plate. After a few seconds he responded to Noel. "Look it's not like I don't appreciate it but I'm a loner. I don't work well with others. Not like I ever did work with other people except Nova. Plus, my lifestyle isn't exactly the one you'd get use to."

Noel didn't faze as she replied "I don't want you to be alone anymore. I know you had others to teach you and help you but… I'd like you to have a better life. I promise I won't get in your way and if you need company, I'll be right there. Besides, I've been with the NOL, so accepting me is a very smart move. And I'll be able to manage with your lifestyle. I'm positive about that. Please, let me help you." Noel was practically begging at this point.

Ragna thought about it for a moment. True, the situation would be to his advantage in fights and she did know the NOL since she was a part of it. "Hm…" as he was thinking, Ragna noticed that Noel was giving him a very cute look to accept her. "Will you promise not to be a burden?"

Noel's eyes lit up with joy as she answered "I swear I'll never be a bother to you!"

"Well… alright then. Doesn't really seem we have a lot of options at this point." he replied and Noel quickly jumped at him and gave him a hug. This surprised Ragna a lot. "What the?! What are you doing stupid?!"

Noel just giggled as she answered "This is just how I thank you. And don't call me stupid."

"Well ain't this a pretty sight?" a voice said to the pair. They saw that Nova and Emy came back with their choice of clothes.

Nova was wearing a red shirt with a black leather jacket on top of that which had cuttings for his wings. He was also wearing a pair of black jeans and white sport shoes with black stripes. Ragna was the first to comment on his new looks. "I say it suits you pretty well but why pick those shoes?"

Nova just casually answered "These were the footwear that felt comfortable."

"Whatever. Least you're not wearing that bathrobe anymore." Ragna said.

They then turned to Emy who was wearing a black A-shirt and a yellow jacket on top of that. She also had white skirt, black stockings that reached above her knees and white tennis shoes on her. "Well… what do you guys think?" she asked a bit nervously.

Noel ran up to her with her eyes sparkling as she bounced with excitement. "Oh my God, you're so adorable!"

Emy blushed at that comment and shyly replied "Ehehehe… thanks…"

"Can we go now?" Ragna said rather annoyed. "I don't want to stay too long in a place where anyone can show up."

As they left the building (since Litchi already had the expenses covered), Nova said "You're too paranoid, Ragna. Who would we run into here of all places?" Just as he said that Lambda suddenly jumped down in front of them. Nova let out a VERY high pitched scream and ducked behind his sister.

Emy rolled her eyes and said "You put all dragons to shame, you know."

Nova was shaking as he pointed at Lambda. "But we saw her die in that big burning thing!"

"Cauldron." Ragna corrected him.

"Whatever! How is she here now?!"

"I don't think this is her…" Noel said as she kept looking at the murakumo girl.

A woman's voice was heard from the girl "Right you are, little girl. This is Lambda. I've rebuilt her from scrap and have her do my bidding. Such as bringing all of you into Sector Seven."

Emy narrowed her eyes and asked "And why should we trust someone who is speaking through a robot?"

"Android is the correct term and my name is Kokonoe. I'm not giving you a choice here. Stand down and-" her voice got cut off as Lambda started shaking.

"Error… error… system… reboot…"

"What the hell is this?!" Ragna asked as he and the others watched Lambda losing it.

At Sector Seven, Kokonoe was trying to reestablish connection but it was all in vain. "Damn it!" she slammed her fist on her desk. "What the hell just happened? I thought I corrected every glitch that may occur! Tager!"

"This is Tager."

"Lambda's malfunctioning! Go get her now!" she yelled through her communicator.

"Understood." Tager replied as he went a bit faster to reach the group quick.

Back with the others, Lambda's shake ended but her visor started to glow in red. "Loading… loading… loading… complete. System's online. Returning to original programing. Eliminate targets." Lambda got out her blades and lunged at Nova.

He screamed a little but easily side stepped her attack with his speed. "Man that was close. Now it's my turn!" He rushed to Lambda and punched her in the back, but the metal part that he hit made his fist hurt. "OW! What the hell are you made of?! Adamantium?!"

"Incorrect." she responded in her usual tone and kicked Nova in the face, making him stagger back a little.

He covered his face while saying "Everyone's a critique these days…"

Lambda then turned to Noel and launched her blades at her. She summoned her guns but it was too late to dodge them so she braced herself for the attack, but it never hit. Noel saw that Ragna was standing in front of her and deflected the blades with his own. "Damn it Nova! Quit fooling around!" he said as he rushed up to Lambda and kicked her a bit away.

"Okay, okay, I get it!" he saw that Lambda recovered and launched her blades at him this time. "Aw crap!" he put his hands up but the attack never reached him. "Wow. Thanks for helping Ragna."

"That… wasn't me…" he slowly said.

"Oh… then who-" he stopped mid sentence as he noticed that a large piece of rock acted as a shield against the blades. "Where the hell did this come from?" he asked in surprise.

Emy was the one to answer. "It just… rose from the ground suddenly…"

Nova had an idea what happened and he decided to put his theory to the test. He hardened his stance and threw a straight punch that made the rock shot at Lambda. "Awesome! I have finally gained strength!" he said as he vanished then appeared behind the murakumo who was dizzy from the hit. He then crouched down and delivered a spinning back kick to her ankles. It didn't really went the way he thought, since everyone heard a loud clang and saw that Nova shook like a leaf before holding his leg in pain. "OW! This sucks!"

Lambda regained her composure and was about to cut Nova when she suddenly got hit through a wall. "You really need to stop fooling around." Emy said as she rubbed her fist.

"Well, seems I arrived a bit late." a man's voice said as a giant red man with mechanical arms dropped from the sky. He took out his communicator and said "Kokonoe, one of them took out Lambda. You can teleport her now." With that, Lambda slowly faded away.

Noel gasped as she recognized the person. "The Red Devil…"

"And just what are you doing here?" Ragna asked while pointing Bloodscythe at him.

Tager adjusted his glasses and spoke up. "I am here to retrieve you all, since Lambda couldn't do it herself."

Nova finally got over the pain in his leg and asked "And why should we go with you? We don't know who you are."

"I am Tager, also known as the Red Devil of Sector Seven. Kokonoe requests to meet you all." he answered truthfully.

"Yeah, we're not interested in meeting that Grimalkin." Ragna answered him.

Tager sighed and charged himself up. "Then you leave me no choice. I shall take you all by force."

Ragna smirked as he put his blade on his back and said "Well, why don't we let Emy take care of this?"

Noel raised an eyebrow at this. "Um… Ragna… what are you doing?" she asked in a low voice so Tager wouldn't hear.

He turned to her and replied silently "Trust me. This'll be good."

Emy walked up to Tager who was like a skyscraper compared to her. He chuckled to himself then added "I'm not one to fight a little girl her. I may be the Red Devil but even I ha-" his sentence was cut short as Emy punched him to the skies so hard that he vanished in a twinkle.

"Don't underestimate me."

"I think he didn't hear you, sis."

She stomped his brother's foot and said "You don't say genius."

Nova was holding his foot as he yelled in pain. "OW! That hurt way more than that girl's metal part!"

"Uh… guys…" the siblings and Ragna turned to Noel who was pointing at a large group of people holding various weapons. "They're probably bounty hunters…"

Ragna grabbed Noel's hand quickly and ran off with Nova and Emy following them closely. "We gotta get away from them!"

"This way!" Nova said as he made a sharp turn to the right into a narrow alleyway. The others followed but the bounty hunters slowed down, since they were so many of them that they could barely move there.

30 minutes later, Ronin Gai

"Phew… we managed to lose them…" Emy said while sitting down as the others were catching their breaths.

"Finally… we can rest for a while." Nova said as he stretched a bit.

A voice suddenly yelled "HALT, EVIL DOERS!"

"Can't you keep that big mouth of yours shut?!" Ragna yelled in anger at Nova.

Emy recognized the voice and sweatdropped. "Not him again…"

"Yes! I have returned! The warrior of love and justice! Bang Shishigami, will capture you all!" he dropped down from the roof he was on top and landed on his face.

Ragna sweatdropped and turned to the siblings "Friend of yours?"

"Hell no!" they both yelled in unison.

Bang got up fast and said "You may have outsmarted me once, but I know what to expect now! You shall fall before me and my students!" He motioned to the rooftops behind the group and 4 more people jumped down. One was a little boy in a purple and white magician like outfit with glasses accompanied by a large doll. The other was a blonde little girl with green eyes shaped like a heart, was wearing mostly white clothes and carrying a wand with a large heart on it. And the last was…

"What the?! You were the one who bit my wing!" Nova exclaimed as he pointed at Tao.

"Oh! Tao remembers you! You didn't let Tao eat you, meow." she said while making a pouting face.

Noel noticed the boy and couldn't believe her eyes. "Carl Clover? Is that really you?"

"Indeed it is, Miss Noel. I never would have thought we'd meet like this." the boy now revealed as Carl said as he got into a fighting stance. "Now, let me take that Grimoire from your friend. I really need it."

"Eh?! Carl you can't be serious! He's not the bad guy here! You don't understand what he went through!" Noel tried to convince him but it didn't work.

Carl took on a much more serious look and replied "I'm not doing this for the bounty. I have my own purposes. Stand aside, Noel!"

She summoned Bolverk and got into a fighting stance as well. "No! I won't let you!"

"Well this is a pain." Ragna said as he got ready to face Bang.

"You shall never defeat me, villain!" the ninja said as he got into his ready pose as well.

The girl with the wand looked rather irritated when she was facing Emy. "Why does Luna have to fight the weakest of them?!"

Emy kept her cool as she replied "I was thinking the same thing."

"You think Luna is weak?! Luna will you show you who really is weak! Get ready Sena!" "I got it!" a different voice said from the girl as she got into her fighting pose.

Emy took her stance as well while saying "What a child..."

All the fighters clashed with each other and began fighting. Emy was the first to win since she dodged Luna's magical rocket, ran up to her and knocked her out cold. "Ow… she's stronger… than she looks…" was all that the magical girl said before losing her consciousness.

Carl struggled to keep Noel in check but with the doll's help he posed a challenge to her. Noel struggled to hit Carl since it blocked any attack that Carl himself couldn't. She thought for a moment and came up with a plan. From a distance, she fired off a shot which he easily blocked but this clouded his view. When he got back to his stance he noticed Noel running up to him. Carl got ready for the attack but at the last moment Noel suddenly ducked and used her gun to knock him flat on the ground. She got up and fired a round at Carl, knocking him further back. "I'm sorry Carl…" she said as her fight ended.

Ragna had a tough time trying to attack Bang as he kept blocking his attempts. Bang then charged at him and tried to kick him off his feet. Ragna was aware of this and jumped up before he could hit him. In the air, he spun around his sword hitting bang in the process. When Ragna landed on his feet he grabbed Bang and knocked him out cold with his sword. "Tch, what a bother."

Nova and Tao were in a fight of speed. They kept trying to charge at each other, which didn't seem to work for either of them. Nova then decided to try something different. "I hope this will work." He touched the ground and then small rocks started to cover his right arm. Now he had a 'rock gauntlet' to finish this quick. He quickly dashed at Tao and when they clashed the Kaka girl flew back quite a distance and got knocked out with her eyes swirling. "Score!"

"Let's get going before more trouble comes in our way." Ragna suggested and the others agreed. They left the place leaving their opponents knocked out.

Kagutsuchi, Landing Site

The group made it to the landing site without any trouble. "Just one question… why are we here?" Emy asked which made the others look at Ragna.

He replied "Maybe we should leave the city for a while and hide in the nearby forest."

Noel looked concerned. "But the seithr there makes it impossible for us to survive."

"Not every part of it is covered in seithr. We will be fine there." he said, calming Noel down a bit. "Okay, then here we-" suddenly, lightning struck the landing pad where they were. Emy lost her balance and almost fell down the edge but Noel got her. Unfortunately, when she tried to pull her up she felt her body slipping down and before she knew it, they were both falling down into a dark mist. Nova flew after them, quickly grabbed Noel and got her back to Ragna but when he went back for Emy the cloud made him weigh down and fall with her. Ragna and Noel looked from above but couldn't see anything. "Damn it! Let's go find them!" Ragna said.

"Right!" Noel replied as they both turned around to leave but they saw someone in their way.

It was a woman with long blond hair and a blue hairpin at the front, with blue eyes. She had a white armor with blue outlines that covered her arms and torso, a long blue skirt that reaches to her knees and a long sword with blue markings on it. She was pointing the sword at them and said "Not so fast!"

Ragna gave an irritated sigh as he said "Women…"

Outside of Kagutsuchi, Forest covered in mist

Nova came to himself while lying on the ground. He quickly got up and noticed that his sister was a few steps away. She went to her and shook her. "Hey sis! You okay?"

Emy opened her eyes and slowly got up while holding her head. "Ow… remind me never to get drunk."

Her brother chuckled and said "I'm supposed to be the one with the jokes here. Come on, we gotta regroup with Ragna and Noel."

"Don't think so!" they heard a voice say in the mist. Suddenly, 2 people appeared in front of them. One was wearing a brown trench coat and had brown hair while pointing a gun at them. The other one looked almost like Ragna except his coat had a hood, didn't have Bloodscythe on him and his eyes were red and gold. The 'Ragna look alike' spoke first. "Don't move a muscle, or else you'll enter a world of pain."

Nova simply responded "Lamest cliché ever…"

Wow, my longest part so far. Sorry for the long wait, things just got crazy in the past months. Anyway, this is a longer part where many fights will occur. At least that's my plan. I'll also be using some OCs that my friends have (with their permission of course). I hope you enjoyed this part and keep on reading to figure out who will appear next and of course what will happen.
