This is the start of a new case, there will be slight crossover in it as I decided to put in one of the character from another anime in this case (and maybe upcoming cases) and the chapter from now on will be in the third person point of view rather than the usual Mai point of view.

File 3: Mountain of Death

Prologue

A few months had passed since Naru, Gene and Lin returned to England and Madoka became the temporary boss of SPR. They had received some case but not as dangerous as those previous once the team had, some even was supernatural unrelated case which always end in the detective Kiryu showing up. Mai usually spend most of her time with her second family or concentrate in her study with the help of Madoka and Yasuhara who had officially work in the office.

"Ohaiyo!" Mai step into her classroom with a bright smile, today would be the last day of school before the winter break and she would be going to a three days vacation trip with her friends and the friends of her friend.

"Morning." Kuroda greeted with a soft smile, the two had somehow became quick friend after the kidnapping case the SPR team had unintentionally involved even though they previously were mostly just classmate.

"Morning, look like we both are early today." Spoke a long raven-haired girl sitting in front of Kuroda, she was smiling back at Mai.

"We sure did." Mai nodded as she went to sat beside the girl who was recently transferred to their school and she had recently became friend.

The new girl name is Higurashi Kagome, she had to transferred school because of her attendance issue since the start of her 1st year of her school in her previous school. She didn't like to left her friends behind but it couldn't really be help after what had happened.

Kagome couldn't help but let out a sighed as she remember the reason behind her transfer, she really missed all of her friends no matter how long distance they were separated.

"Kagome? Is something wrong?" Mai turned quizzically to Kagome at the girl sudden sighed.

"Nothing, I just miss my friends." Kagome simply tell her new friend as she tried to shove some of her thought away from her mind.

"You will see one of them during the trip." Mai tried to lighten the mood of her friend as best as she could. She had noticed Kagome sometime spacing up and usually end up with a sad and faraway look, she didn't knew the real reason behind those look and decided it was best for the girl to told them herself when the time come instead of them asking her about it.

"You are right, at least Ayumi and Hojo will be coming with us." Kagome smile back at Mai who was trying to cheer her up, her thought had quickly went to the newly formed couple and she was truly happy for the two of them.

"Mai." Kuroda called out from behind, gotten Mai's attention immediately, "Are your friends Michiru and Keiko coming along with us?"

"No, Michiru is going to help out in her boyfriend family restaurant and Keiko will be going on a vacation trip with her parents." Mai was a bit sadden that both her best friends since middle school couldn't go on the trip with them and the thought had made her wish that she could go on a holiday trip together with everyone including her second family and even the narcissistic boss of her too.

Talking about Michiru and Keiko, they were both currently in different class as Mai since the start of their second year.

Kuroda his nodded before turning back to the front, "Your younger brother is still coming with us?"

"Yes, Souta is still very eager to go with us because of the legend he had heard from our grandpa about that mountain we are going." Kagome hold onto her head as she felt a headache coming up, Souta was still very interested in those supernatural things and no one could change his mind even their mother so she had to promise her mother that she would take care of Souta during the trip.

"The legend about demon killing everyone in the mountain sometime during the 19's right?" Mai had heard it from Kagome but she didn't knew the whole story and she was actually quite curious about it.

"Well, I don't really know much about it since grandpa story were rather long and usually false. It seem that Mt. Hikami usually perform an annual ritual but something went wrong during their last ritual and the demon were born killing everyone in the mountain or something. It had been inhabited until a few years ago from what I heard." Kagome tried to sound uninterested but she actually quite concern about the story, it slightly bothered her after more than a year of her experience and knew that there were things unseen by normal people since she had been seeing those things since her last and final return from her 'Journey'.

Mai didn't like the sound of it, she hope that it was just a story but somehow she has a bad feeling about it.

"Class is starting." The teacher enter the classroom as the door slide open just in time with the school bell that indicated the beginning of their first class,

"Let's continue our talk during lunch break." Kuroda state toward her two friends as she began her class rep. duty.

Mai and Kagome just nodded as they stood up to greeted the teacher with the rest of their classmate.

Both of them didn't knew that their concern were somehow come true and the danger they were face in the upcoming trip. There were more to it about the mountain and people around them might be not what they seem to be. The legend and story they were told could be the twist of the truth that happen to the mountain which was later known and name the Mountain of Death.

Here is the end of the Prologue of the third case. I put in Higurashi Kagome because I had been planning to write an Inuyasha fanfic and it would be interesting to see how Kagome got herself involved in the supernatural after her involvement with the demon. Anyway, there were a few things you all had to knew about Kagome before you continued with the story. Kagome journey in the feudal era last more than a year and she was currently in her second year of high school like I had state in the story. She will be seen to know more about her power than in the canon of Inuyasha series and could see spirit since her return from the past because of her seal begins her power had been release if you know what I mean, and she could still sense anything evil like she used to be. Lastly, there won't be any demon appeared in complete human form (those in Inuyasha series) appearing in the story but that didn't mean that they were all dead (Example: Lin's Shiki). I might or might not explain it in the story but the chance the I might if I decided to had either Mai or Kagome got himself a Shiki (The latter will depend if you all like to see her appeared in other case too or joining the SPR team officially). Anyway, I plan on having the other member of SPR appeared in the beginning of the next chapter and the update of the story might not be regular since I had other story that I need to write too.
