To say I was confused wouldn't be saying to much. I just couldn't understand how Amerique didn't want me to raise him. He chose Angleterre over me! Angleterre of all nations! How is that even possible? I would have preferred if I had lost him to Finland. It's really hard to hate Finland for very long. Never the less, I respected the young country's decision. I decided that now would be a good time to check up on the fur trade in my northern colony.
As I neared the end of my walk to my colony, I silently cursed myself for walking so far with no horse. Those thoughts were pushed away when I saw the breath-taking view. It really was stunning as spring had just arrived. The flowers were blooming and the trees were green again. I took a deep breath in and smiled. Mon dieu, I haven't been here since late autumn and now spring was starting to set into summer.
Suddenly, I heard a child-like giggle. I was surprised. I didn't think there were people living around here. My colony was at least a another's day walk from here. Maybe it was a native tribe. I heard it again, a little louder this time. My curiosity got the better of me and I followed the noise.
I came to a clearing. It was truly beautiful. The fields in front of me were blooming with flowers and the trees were lush and bearing fruit now. The sunlight sparkled on the lake's clear-blue water. Then, I saw the source of the noise. It was a little boy being chased through the field by a small white bear cub. He had blond wavy hair, not unlike my own, and a curl that stuck out. The child seemed so pure and had an aura of innocence. He did look a lot like Amerique. Could it possible that they were brothers? This could be another country! I smiled, sat down by a tree, and watched the bear chase him. It was so adorable. I didn't realize how long I had been sitting there until, I started to drift off.
I woke up when I felt a soft tug on my hair. I turned to find that boy, shyly looking at his feet. I smiled at him. "Bonjour."
He looked up at me with bright, violet eyes and gave me a shy smile. He seemed to understand me. "Quel est ton nom?" (What is your name?)
He pointed to himself, in a sort of question. I nodded in confirmation. "Kanata," he said softly. He pointed at his bear. "Kumajiro." He stared at me and tilted his head. After a few seconds, he pointed to me. "Papa?" he asked.
I couldn't believe it. He wanted me to raise him? I felt myself smile. "Oui, je suis ton papa." (Yes, I am your papa.)
Kanata smiled and launched himself at me. I caught him and we were both laughing. "Maison?" (Home?) I asked the young nation in my arms.
He suddenly looked worried. He pointed to the little bear. "Kuma?" He was asking if the cub could come too. When I nodded, his face lit up again. I couldn't remember the last time I had been this happy. Kanata was just what I needed, someone I could properly care for. I would be a good papa for him. For the first time in a long time, I felt content.
Yes I finally finished my first Hetalia fanfiction! I'm so proud of myself! Feel free to correct my French. Google Translate isn't always reliable. Anyway, hope you liked it. Read, review, and comment. Disclaimer: I don't own Hetalia. If I did, there would be more Canada.
Sacaly Amroma was kind enough to translate this is into French! So check it out! s/10377448/1/Père
