A/N: Ahahaha, there's a note at the bottom.

Chapter 3

Kagome lounged by herself in the abode she shared with the others. She did have her own place, but here was more comfortable. It was where everyone was. Truth be told, she only went to her place when she wanted to be alone, and that wasn't very often. She closed her eyes and immediately an image of that redhead popped up. She sprung into a sitting position and growled to herself. Ever since that night, she couldn't stop thinking about him. There was something wrong with her too. Kagome pulled back the sleeve of her shirt and there were patches of skin darker than the rest and some of her veins had turned a sickly green color. It didn't hurt, yet. She didn't feel anything so she pushed it aside and pulled down the sleeve. No one was home so she decided to take a walk in the park. The air would help refresh her and chase away those images of a certain green eyed man.

She sat silently on a bench by herself and just breathed. It was nearing fall and the crisp smell of autumn leaves invaded her senses and calmed her. Not many people were around anymore and the quiet was peaceful and welcomed. Kagome closed her eyes and adjusted herself and breathed deeply before releasing in a slow breath. This was probably the most relaxing day she'd had in a while. Again, images of that man popped up and her eyes snapped open. She frowned and sighed silently. A part of her wanted to see him again, but a more logical part said he was the enemy. An even smaller part told her she was just scared to see him again. Shaking her head, Kagome stood and began to briskly walk out of the park. Paying too much attention to her thoughts and not the surrounding area, she bumped into someone. Kagome looked up and her face drained of all color. Speak of the devil, it was him. Hadn't she just been thinking about him?

They stood stock still for a moment before the two simultaneously jumped away from each other and took a defensive stance. Their bodies were tense and you could hear the scuffle of leaves on the pavement. Their eyes were locked, blue on green, and they just stared. Finally Kagome broke the silence with a sneer. It was suffice to say, Kagome was still feeling a little betrayed even if she shouldn't.

"Kurama." That was the name his friends had called him.

He tensed and his emerald hues narrowed and he said just as harshly. "Kagome."

She saw his hand twitch and move up to grasp something in his hair. A seed was pulled out and suddenly it was transforming into the whip she'd seen him use that night. Kagome immediately pulled out a dagger and readied herself. The fight had begun.

Kurama swung his whip at her again, but she kept dodging it and it was beginning to get on his nerves. He swung it faster this time and it grazed her arm and he watched a thin trail of blood flow down her arm. There was something else though, a clear, greenish liquid was dripping out with her blood and mixing in the grass below them. A small crease formed between his brow and he wondered if it had to be the liquid he put in her all that time ago. He paused to scold himself for caring about the enemy and it cost him a cut to the cheek. It was shallow though and he wondered, she had the perfect chance to completely mutilate his face and she didn't. That's not to say he wasn't going easy on her either, but how could he bring himself to hurt someone who had connected with him on such a personal level. He knew she was the enemy and yet…

Kurama was able to wrap his whip around her left forearm and held tight as she struggled. Suddenly a pink light infused her arm and his plant was burned away. His eyes were wide, priestess. His attraction to her just became a lot worse. Thinking fast, he pulled out his communicator. If he wanted to subdue her now, he would need help. Fighting someone of her caliber was like suicide, and even though he was strong his kind had an even stronger aversion to people like her. Well, at least their powers.

Kagome saw him pull out a small compact and she realized he was calling for help. She swore and grabbed her punctured arm. It wasn't bad but the multiple holes weren't healing as fast as they should, must be poison. The raven haired woman reviewed her options and came to the conclusion that a safe retreat was best. To distract him, she threw a small ball of power at him that he had to dodge and she was suddenly gone.

Kurama stood in the park alone and Yusuke was shouting on the other end. He was brought back to reality with an aloof "Fox." The red haired man straightened and looked into the device.

"Nevermind, she's gone." He murmured.

He could hear the raise of the fire apparition's brow and he sighed. He didn't want to explain at all. So he made an excuse that he had to be somewhere and snapped the compact shut. Slowly he started to walk away from the park. Why hadn't he stopped her? Surely he could, it would be hard but he could have. It gnawed at his mind and the only conclusion he came to, he didn't want to admit.

He clenched his fist and became annoyed as his alter ego, Yoko, pestered him about it, teasing him for being interested in the enemy.

"Shut up Yoko."

The fox inside him only stuck his tongue out and went back to his corner.

Kagome quickly closed the door to her small one bedroom apartment. She closed her eyes and let out a large sigh. Just why did she have to run into him today? She had been having such a nice stroll. Now her thoughts were filled with him again. She bypassed the living room and headed straight to the bathroom where she cleaned herself up. When she was done she walked back out and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. Might as well stay for a bit now that she was here, but what greeted her surprised her. On her wall, written in what looked to be blood, though it was a much brighter color red, was a message.

"Give it to me." She had no idea what that meant but obviously this was a threat, what with it written in blood and all. Kagome frowned. She should let the other know. On her way out, a man stopped her. He was handsome, long wavy black hair, a fair complexion though pale and ruby red eyes. That was all she thought though because a creepy feeling washed over her the next moment.

"Excuse me miss, but what is your name?"

The priestess frowned but answered anyway. "Kagome, why?"

"Oh my apologies, you just look like someone I used to know."

The frown stayed in place but she nodded slowly. "Right, well, I have to be going. Good bye."

She quickly walked as fast she could away from him without running. That man was suspicious. Warning tingles went up and down her spine and she looked back to see him still standing there smiling at her, definitely suspicious.

The mysterious man watched her walk away, slightly spooked by his presence. He couldn't help the licentious smile that bloomed on his face.

"See you soon, Kagome."
