So this is either the last chapter or the second to last chapter. Depends on how long I want to make the battle.

So, a person commented in the reviews that I gave an excellent explanation of diabetes. I supposed you all thought that it was because I actually looked it up on the internet... But that's not true. My family has a long history of diabetes. Me? I'm the person of this generation of the family to get it. I've been diabetic since I was one. So, obviously, I would know a lot!

So Onyx sorta connects with me and my diabetes. He was gonna be diabetic in the original series as well... But I ended up rewriting it before I could mention it!

Anyways, we reached past the goal of seventy-three reviews, so I personally thank you reviewers!

Chapter Fifteen

Yellow took a tentative step back in fear. Not in fear of the obviously feral pokémon snarling and barking at them, no, but of the trainer himself. Like earlier with the detective, Kristoff, color was surrounding this man as well. But instead of color with veining black or white, it was completely black. Heck, his body didn't even appear. He just appeared to look like a black shadow with glowing blue eyes, darkness and shadows filtering off him.

He turned to face her. She felt her breath leave her mouth in a sudden gasp.

Then the voices started.

"Run!"

"He's corrupted!"

"The dark..."

"He'll get you, Healer..."

"Yellow!" she whipped to the right at the familiar voice, and saw Opal entangled in darkness. Thunder rolled overhead, and electricity crackled down, freeing her. She flickered again. "Yellow, you have to run! I've got to get back, time's running out! GO!"

"Booooo!" Onyx pouted as he crossed his arms. "I was in the middle of eating my damn candy!"

"Seriously, not the time, Onyx!" Jade snapped back. "Yellow! Can you sense it too?"

"Sense it? Sense him? That?" Yellow exclaimed in response, pointing at Kristoff. "Arceus, I can see it! What is it?!"

"Ah, stupid Darkening. Dumb Darkening." Onyx replied in response, moving his arms so they were crossed behind his head, as if he was discussing a completely normal event like the weather. "So, Jade. We thinkin' a level three? Four, maybe?"

"I'd say a two. He can barely control it." Jade stated, shaking her head. Andrew snapped his gaze at her.

"Barely control?! I'l show you barely controlling you genetic freak!" he shrieked in response, pointing at them, almost immediately, the pokémon lunged at her, jaws open and ready to tear her apart.

"Esmeralda, psychic!" Jade ordered. The Espeon let out a cry, unleashing it's psychic energy and slamming them back. "Everyone, get out of here as quickly as possible! Onyx and I can handle it!"

"Handle what?! He's completely deranged!" Yellow shouted back.

"It doesn't matter! Run! Go!" Jade shouted. "Partner up and stay with someone, but remember to trust only yourself!"

"And don't forget who our real enemy is!" Onyx chimed in, grinning. Most of the dexholders nodded, then bolted in their respective region trio, with the exception of White and Black, who paired up, and the Kanto dexholders. Red was trying to coax Yellow into leaving and Blue had her gaze glued to Kristoff in pure horror. Onyx took notice of it, blinking.

"Can you see it?" he asked.

"Blue, we have to go!" Green exclaimed, snapping her out of her revere. Red turned to Yellow.

"Us too! Lets go, Yellow!" Red shouted, grabbing her and practically dragging her behind him. They ran as quickly as they could till Yellow simply just fell. Red whipped around.

"Just... Just let me think." Yellow said, clutching huge chunks of grass in her hands. "I can't... I need to gather myself. I'm really confused. You... You were working with them? Why?"

"They presented themselves as detectives on a hunt for terrorists." Red stated, kneeling down across from her. "Those terrorists, Jade, a sociopath who killed with no remorse and Onyx, a pyromaniac who slaughtered with glee, were mass murders whom killed hundreds of people."

"No. No, that's not right." Yellow muttered. "That can't be right."

"I'm not so sure myself anymore." Red sighed. "While they've threatened us numerous times, they've protected us as well."

"The detectives can't be trusted... They aren't on our side. They're going to kill us, Red." Yellow reached up, tentatively tucking loose strands of hair behind her hair, hands shaking. "I don't understand what's going on. Why are they hunting them? He... He called Jade a genetic freak. What does that mean?" her shoulders began to shake as emotions began to bubble over. Suddenly, she was crying. "I-I don't know what's going on with me! I'm seeing... seeing these colors around people and... and I'm having weird dreams and I know they're significant but I don't know why!"

"Hey, Yellow, c'mon." Red said, trying to find some way to comfort her. Slowly, he reached out, pausing for a brief second when she tensed, then wrapped his arms around her tiny form. "Maybe," he said thoughtfully as she nestled her head into his shirt, still crying. "Maybe it's a new extension of your powers or something? Like, they're growing stronger with your age? You just turned fifteen a few months ago."

"B-But I haven't has anything like that happen since I was twelve! When I acquired "synchronized spirits"... I assumed it was all done. I was done gaining new powers and abilities. I shouldn't be..." she trailed off. "It... It started a little before the reunion. These dreams mean something but I have no idea what..."

There was a long silence before Red felt something strange. It was like some sort of ropes were curling themselves around his legs and wrists, but softer and lighter. He blinked in surprise when he something that look like shadows curling around his wrists. He felt them yank, and with a grunt of surprise, shoved Yellow back. She looked at him in surprise and suddenly let out a shriek of fear as he began to get dragged away.

"Red!" she exclaimed. He ground his teeth as branches and stones cut at his skin as he was being dragged back, trying to break one or even both of his hands free. Despite the seemingly defenseless feeling of the shadows, this didn't lessen their strength. With a roar of anger, he wrenched his one arm free and managed to grab a root sticking up.

Pain shot through his still trapped with limbs as the shadows kept pulling at him. Where they trying to tear them off?!

"Red!" Yellow dove at him, grabbing his wrist.

"No, Yellow!" he exclaimed as the shadows began to curl towards her. She closed her eyes, crying.

"Leave him alone!" she shrieked, a burst of light erupting from her form, causing the shadows to retreat. This managed to get his other hand free and he felt the restraints around his legs lessen slightly. He began kicking as he reached up to gab both her hands.

"Don't let go!" he shouted at her. Somehow, he knew that if she let go of him before he could escape, he wasn't going to escape alive. Yellow let out a gasp of fear as she felt her grip loosen. The shadows began to wind themselves around his right arm, yanking it back, causing her to loosen her grip in surprise.

"No!" she shouted as his fingers bean to slip. He ground his teeth and squinted his eyes as he began to loose hold of Yellows fingers, then they widened in fear as, with one final tug, he was dragged back. Yellow watched his fingers slip away from her, still outstretched, as if hoping to reach for her if he stretched long enough. With an unimaginable speed, he was dragged away from her.

Yellow tried to get up and run, but she felt drained, horribly drained. Like when she healed pokémon or overused her telekinesis. She was so tired. She couldn't do anything. She ground her teeth together in frustration. Thunder rolled overhead. Rain began to pour.

Oh, the irony.

"DAMNIT!" Yellow practically roared to the sky. The rain fell harder, as if reflecting her emotions. Tears formed spilled down her face as she hunched over, slamming her fists into the ground. "Red!" she called out, as if she expected this to bring him back. Her shoulders shook with her emotions: sorrow, fear, pain, exhaustion, rage at the shadows, rage at Kristoff, whom she was sure was the source of the darkness, and most of all, rage at herself.

It was her fault he got dragged away. She wasn't strong enough. She had to be stronger.

She heard footsteps coming closer, and then a comforting hand on her shoulder. She glanced up, expecting a dexholder, Jade, Onyx, or if she could so hope, Red.

But no. It was a young man, around seventeen or so. He had golden blond hair on his head, short in the back, with bangs similar to her own, only fuller. A red cap that reminded her an awful lot of Red's was on his head, and he donned a short-sleeved jacked, collar turned up, white on top, black sleeves, and where the pockets formed, orange down. The jacket was unzipped slightly, revealing a turquoise blue shirt underneath the jacket. On his right hand was a black, fingerless glove, and on his left wrist was a red wristband. He wore simple blue jeans and orange sneakers with black accents.

She moved her gaze to orange eyes. He was smiling gently at her, though sadness showed through those eyes. Something stirred inside her, something like she knew this person, but not just a run-in or a friend. She couldn't quite place it, for she was positive she had never met him before.

"Yellow," he said, helping her up. "I don't like seeing someone else blessed by the Viridian forest so sad. We are meant to be peaceful. Meant to be protectors."

"What? You..." she trailed off. "No. No that's impossible. You can't be a Forest Child, you're to old. Every ten years, a new child is born. I was the last one, Lance was before me. You're..."

"Seventeen."

"Seventeen. I'm fifteen. It's impossible for you to be a Forest Child..."

"Impossible?" he laughed. "Nope. Not." he turned to where Red was dragged off. "You were blessed with healing, right? Well, I was blessed too, though not with healing." he looked back at her. "I can help you. We can still save him... adjust it so what happens later doesn't happen."

"Eh...?" Yellow asked. He smiled again.

"I was blessed with speed and durability. Hop on my back." he turned. Yellow blinked, weighing her options, then sighed, giving in and allowing him to hold her piggy-back style. "Alright." he stated, adjusting her weight slightly, then casting her a glance. "Ready, Yellow?"

She nodded mutely, anxious to get to Red and help him. The young man seemed to set himself into a readying position. Yellow noticed a strange orange aura begin to form around him.

Then they were bolting through the trees.

Onyx had to admit that he hadn't gotten to battle a Darkened in a while. It was strange to see them in Kanto. The last Darkened he battled was absolutely a pain, he remembered. Nearly lost his arm that time. But this Darkened is so easy to deal with it was almost hilarious. The problem here was that the pokémon lunged at them at every turn, trying to kill him before he could get a clear shot at their master.

It was frustrating, to say the least.

He saw Jade trying to take care of the pokémon with Esmeralda and Bre-Bre. He considered bringing out his own pokémon, but also knew that he couldn't take care of Kristoff while trying to concentrate on his own partners safety. He knew what he needed to do to eliminate him, but by the great Arceus, it was becoming a pain!

"Onyx! Now!" Jade exclaimed. "We'll keep them at bay!"

"Right!" Onyx grinned.

"Freak! Genetic freak! Die! Die!" Kristoff shouted, enraged. Onyx felt flames engulf his fingers as he clenched them into a fist.

"Nope." Onyx stated. "You die." and with that, he bolted towards him as Jade used Esmeralda and Bre-Bre to hold the pokémon back. Suddenly, in a split second, someone was lifted in front of him. He cursed loudly as he recognized Red, managing to shut down the flames, but not his speed. He rammed his fist into the unconscious dexholders gut, causing him to wheeze at the sudden attack.

"Shit! Fuck!" Onyx shouted, jumping back. Kristoff grinned as the shadows pooled around him.

"Genetic freaks." he hissed. "Now I have the upper hand."

"Bastard." Jade hissed at him.

"I was under instruction to bring both of you back alive. But we're going to bargain here. Either come peacefully and submit to the New Order, like the Espeon subject, or become a slave to tests and a world of misery like the Jolteon subject." he grinned.

"We can't choose if we don't know that you won't kill the dexholders first." Jade said coldly. "They can't die yet."

"Yes, but it's best to just eliminate their race from existence. They pose a threat to the New Order. They are anything but orderly." he tilted his head back and cackled. "Yes... I'll capture you corrupted freaks, then I'll eliminate the dexholders. I'll be viewed as a hero!"

"You're no hero." Onyx growled out. "Fight us fair! You're using a hostage!"

"Alls fair in love and war."

"Love? Ha! This seems to be a one-sided relationship, then." Onyx stated.

"You say our genetic makeup is corrupted?" Jade growled out. "At least our souls are still strong. Yours is a corrupted mess of darkness which I hope to never have to touch again."

"I'm taking you with me, freaks." he stated. "Or I'll kill him."

"You already said you'd kill him. We have nothing to loose." Onyx stated, bluntly.

"Yes, but wouldn't you like to know that you gave him a bit of time to scramble back to your precious 'captive'," he stated the word sarcastically, grinning. "Just to say the oh-so-sickly-sweet words of 'I love you'?"

"Pah! What do you know of love?" Onyx spat. "It's practically forbidden in the N.O." Kristoff narrowed his eyes.

"Surrender, Resistance scum." Onyx turned to Jade.

"What should we do?" he asked. Jade paused briefly.

"We..." she paused, brain going in mad circles. "I will submit to the N.O." Onyx did double-take.

"Jade?! You-You can't be serious!"

"On the condition." she glared. "That you release Opal."

"Why on earth would I-?!" Kristoff began but stopped as Jade held up her hand.

"Because I know he's mainly after me. I know he knows I was the first success. I know that he knows that, with me, the other three," she paused. "Are worthless. I'm stronger than Opal, more useful, and willing to fight for the N.O." Jade stated. "But you need to release her. In fact, I will release her, and I will send her back to Onyx, wherever he may be."

"Jade, don't you even-!"

"Onyx." Jade said coldly. "You still have Opal's pokémon?"

"O-Of course. Always. But you-" she walked over to him, holding out her bag. He knew what was inside. Her pokémon. "I'm not taking it." he stated stubbornly.

"Not your choice, Onyx." she stated, deciding to simply drop the bag down in front of him, the picked up Hope off her shoulder, and held her out to Onyx. "Take her, Onyx."

"No." he stated, shaking his head. "You only just reunited... You didn't even get to fight that long!"

"Onyx," Jade said again, pleading slightly. "Take Hope. Don't let go, ever. Understand?" Onyx understood the deeper meaning behind her words, but bowed his head.

"Jade..." he muttered as she gently placed the Eevee in his arms.

"Opal will be happy to reunite with her pokémon." Jade stated, then leaned in closer, placing a hand on his shoulder, whispering the next part. "And one day, I will be, too." for the briefest moment, he caught a small, reassuring smile, one which he rarely gave, but it disappeared as she took a few steps back, then walked towards Kristoff. He dropped Red to the ground, grinning wildly at his accomplishment. He returned all his pokémon but his Archinine.

"Teleport." he stated simply. Both of them disappeared in a flash of light. Red continued to lay on the ground. Onyx simply stared at the spot where Jade once stood, then, with Hope still in his arms, fell to his knees in utter shock. The rain that pelted him only seemed to mock him with each drop. She... She was stupid enough to give up herself... For him? Opal? Why... How could she...?

"Red!" he heard Yellow shout, he cast her a glance, she was already running towards Red, and saw another young man standing not far behind her. He cast a glance at him.

"Where's Jade?" he asked. Onyx looked down.

"Gone. The... The N.O. got her." he responded. Yellow glanced at him from Red, concern on her features.

"Crap." the young man stated. "Okay. Alright. We can fix this." he glanced at a device on he pulled from his pocket. Onyx faintly heard a news reported saying something about unnaturally pink lightening slamming down on what was once Cinnabar Island. "Opal's already here. Rather fast, if you ask me." he sighed. "Onyx. Look at me." he cast his black eyes to the young mans' orange ones. "I can block Kristoff and Andrew from using any sort of teleportation, but only for about two weeks. Are you stable enough to prioritize and find Jade before they run off with her to Tolerin? Because you and I both know that if they manage to leave this region, it's over."

"I-I can. I will!" Onyx exclaimed, standing up at his full height. The young man smiled.

"Yes... I can see where Olive and Pine get their spark." he stated, smiling. "Ah, I'm just rambling."

"Who are you?" Yellow suddenly asked as Onyx scooped up his bag. The young man grinned lightly. "How did you know my name? And how are you a Forest Child?"

"I can't say much now." he stated. "But I can tell you my name." he grinned. "I'm Orange."

Then he bolted into the woods.

"Interesting indeed." the Leader mused as he watched Orange bolt off, then Onyx help Yellow carry Red away. He was surprised, really. He hadn't expected Jade to give herself up like that, nor did he expect Opal to have enough power to teleport herself all the way to Kanto.

"Sir," Carnelian said as he walked up to him. The white-haired boy glanced at the broken glass that made up the mirror, seeing several faces in it. He saw Jade flanked by two men, Onyx helping to carry a young man around his age, and Opal slowly opening her eyes on an island, to weak to move, simply laying. "I was not aware she escaped. Shall I send Peacekeepers to retrieve her?"

"No. No, lets not interfere for a while yet, Carnelian." he stated, smirking at the block on the teleport. It was mediocre, compared to his abilities, but found it amusing to see how those two men he sent would figure a way around it.

He knew now that these two were very serious competitors. Very serious opponents. But he found them amusing. Two weeks time... He wondered how this challenge, retrieve the main leader of the resistance from the N.O. in two weeks time, would work out.

This silly little resistance was futile. He'd crushed bug types easier than it, but yet they continue to fight. They were trying to unite the dexholders, unite the test subjects, yet willing to separate for the wellbeing of another.

Yes, he decided, smirking, this certainly may be the strongest rebellion.
