A/NN: Hellllooooo everyone! :D Ann E. Casap and James A. Rodsworth are back again for this special, extra chapter!
Rodsworth: She just couldn't stay away.
Hey, I had an idea. There was no way I was going to let it die. Anyways, I was originally going to have this as an accompanying one-shot to Going in Circles, but I figured, nah.
Rodsworth: Nah?
Nah. -claps hands together- Well then! Let's get started. Rods, RWBY does not belong to me. Curtains up.
Five years. Five years of a happy, healthy, sex-filled, adventurous, yet challenging marriage. Yang and Blake Xiao Long are certainly living their dream lives as huntresses and wives to the love of their lives. With Blake being a huntress part-time and full-time organizer for Faunus rights, Yang became a full-time huntress, just like her sister. There had been several missions where the members of team RWBY would be partnered together, but most missions had them either working solo or along with other hunters/huntresses. Life was indeed tough, but they always came back and they were always happy.
Blake worked tirelessly alongside Weiss to ensure that all Faunus received equal treatment and through their efforts, they made significant progress. The Schnee Dust Company no longer used Faunus labor to extract dust and they were overturning many company practices that did the same. While there were places that remained the same, Vale had definitely changed for the better.
Because Yang was a full-time huntress, there were days, months even, where the married couple couldn't see each other. Despite being one of the best huntresses Remnant has ever known, Blake would always worry about her wife's safety. The missions where they would be parted for months would be where the Faunus grew anxious the most. Yang would always reassure her that she would be fine because she would be working alongside Ruby, who had earned the title of the strongest huntress. Ever. Of all time.
But in the past few weeks, team Bumblebee had been living in comfortable peace; no missions to be completed, no big game Grimm to hunt, and no Faunus disputes to be settled. Mrs. and Mrs. Xiao Long relaxed and enjoyed their free time with each other. However, Yang eventually grew bored of having nothing else to do, so she went and got a part-time job at the local hair salon while Blake went back to working with Weiss on keeping and extending Faunus rights. It wasn't that they were bored of each other. No, Yang just missed working and with all the trips they took in their free time, they were running low on lien. Being a huntress pays well, but having nothing to do for almost a month can really pour a large sum of it down the drain.
But today was special. And it was days like today where Blake and Yang wished they had their free time back.
Blake woke up and turned to find her wife, only to be met with absence and sunshine, just like that day five years ago.
Blake pulled the soft, fire-colored fleece blanket up to her chest to preserve her modesty. The blanket that they used when they had first lain together in their relationship still maintained the warmth and softness it gave off both physically and to the eyes. Her milky flawless skin electrified and tingled with its touch as it hugged her alluring curves. Blake scanned the room for any clues the blonde may have left. No clues present but there was the all-too familiar scent and sizzle of a savory breakfast in the making; pancakes, eggs, and bacon, the smell was powerful enough to get even the heaviest sleepers and bed-stuck people up and moving. This had been proven effectively and efficiently on Yang multiple weekends.
Smiling, Blake rose from the bed, taking the sheet with her, and started to get ready for the big day. After all, she had a lot of work to do.
'Yang will have no idea of what's to come later tonight. Better get a move on if I want to complete in time.' With one arm pressing the special blanket to her chest, her other limb sifted through their shared dresser to retrieve her clothes, the blanket dragging behind her feet.
Blake fixed her collar and vest as she descended down the stairs. Hearing her wife coming down, Yang turned and smiled at her wife.
"Morning babe! Happy anniversary," she addressed while flipping a pancake.
Blake walked up to her and planted a kiss on her cheek. "Morning honey. Happy anniversary to you, too." Her amber eyes dipped down briefly to see what was cooking. She let out a small gasp upon seeing what kind of pancakes her wife was making.
"Is this the pancake batter from that restaurant in Mistral?" she asked with disbelief.
"Yup!"
"Wha-.. How did you get this?"
Yang chuckled softly at her flustered Faunus wife. "I did a favor for one of the cooks. He had a problem with some people who were harassing him, so I beat 'em up...a little." she chuckled lightly and ruffled her luscious mane.
Speechless, Blake smirked and wrapped her arms around her beloved's neck in response, the latter ditching the spatula and wrapping her arms around the Faunus' waist.
Their lips softly connected and stayed that way for several seconds.
"Man, this sucks," Yang huffed irritably. "I wish we didn't have to work on our anniversary."
Blake cupped her cheek and pulled her down so their foreheads could touch. "I know. I hate this as much as you do, but hey! Tomorrow's the weekend, we're both off, and Professor Ashford will be staying with Weiss and Ruby while we get to spend all day to ourselves. Sound good?"
"That sounds good to me," Yang stole a kiss from Blake before continuing. "You know, why don't we send Professor Ashford to work for us today? That cat is getting lazy, I think it's time for him to get a job and start looking for his own place. I'm getting tired of him interrupting our sexy time, and it's almost time for him to leave the nest."
Blake snorted and rolled her eyes. "That was twice, and leave the nest? He's a grey cat honey, not a dumb bird,"
"And that was twice too many, babe." Yang captured Blake's lips with her own and drew her in for a long and passionate kiss, cutting off their conversation as their mouths and tongues moved together in a loving dance. Everything else in the world, forgotten.
They lost track of time and their surroundings before they finally pulled apart. Blake cupped Yang's cheek and pulled her back down to whisper against her lips. "Hey Yang?"
"Mmhmm?"
"The pancake is burning..."
Widening her eyes in realization as the sizzling became more audible and violent, she tore out of her lover's embrace as smoke started to rise from the burnt food.
"OH SHI-"
After a savory, well-balanced breakfast and saving the kitchen from another cooking inferno, Yang and Blake headed off into separate directions for work. Once they reached a safe distance away from each other, Blake turned her car around and drove back to the house.
Unlocking the front door, Blake stepped in and fished out her huntress scroll from her blazer. Closing the door with her foot, Blake dialed a familiar number and waited for her contact to pick up.
"Blake, is everything all clear?"
"All clear. Bring in the stuff now, Weiss."
"Ok. I'll be over there in five minutes."
The line had cut off. Blake shoved her scroll back into her pocket and started to do some light cleaning around the house while waiting for Weiss to arrive with her supplies.
'Ok, I've got eleven hours until she gets off of work. That gives me plenty of time to cook, clean, and make my present for her. That is, assuming she gets off at her regular time, eight o' clock.' Deciding to start with the kitchen first, Blake hustled over and carried the used dishes and pans to the sink.
Minutes passed until the sound of a small truck pulling into their driveway, followed by a town limousine, reached her Faunus ears. Blake quickly shut the water off and brisk-walked over to the front, where she saw two burly men beginning to unload the cargo with Weiss giving a few orders to them.
Blake opened the front door and stepped out to greet the movers and her long-time teammate and friend.
"Hey Weiss. Thanks again for doing all of this." she said as she gave the Schnee Dust Company owner a brief hug, the latter immediately returning the gesture.
"You're welcome," Weiss broke away from her arms and gestured to the truck loaded with the special package Blake requested. "1,100 sheets of origami paper. Just as you asked."
Blake allowed the small smile to worm its way through her lips, not particularly caring that her friend could see. "It is. Thanks, again. It really means a lot," Turning to face the ivory haired huntress, Blake pulled out her checkbook and prepared to write down any sum of money. "So, how much do I owe you?"
"Stop. Put that away. I didn't do this just to be payed back someday," Blake furrowed her eyebrows and lowered her checkbook as Weiss put on her serious tone. "You owe me nothing, Blake. After everything we've been through, after all the things we achieved and made possible, I was glad to do this for you."
They shared another brief, honest smile until the last box was moved inside the house. Throughout the years of being fellow students to huntresses and most trusted business partners, Blake and Weiss had grown closer to each other than ever before. Weiss no longer held any last, tiny shred of discrimination or hatred towards Faunus and Blake had even defended the heiress from her own race when they began their campaign for Faunus rights. They had both been pariahs to their own people at first, but it didn't stay that way for long. As they kept fighting and braving through whatever the world threw at them, people slowly began to change. They were finally accepted and masses upon masses of humans and Faunus joined, followed, and supported their goal.
Weiss broke the silence by clearing her throat. "So, uh, I should get back. I have a meeting in half an hour and I want to be done with it as soon as possible." she huffed irritably, muttering a tiny curse under her breath.
Blake caught her agitation and smirked in amusement. "Meeting with Count Roderick Van Hoenheimschmark again?"
"Yes," she answered exasperatedly. "I can't understand him with his thick accent and he's just so...pretentious!" Weiss threw her hands up in the air, fueling Blake's entertainment. "Ugh! I'm done with him. I don't understand why my father ever decided to work with him."
Blake gave Weiss' shoulder a few pats in a comforting manner. "You'll get through it."
"Yeah, by some miracle." The minute the movers climbed back into the truck was the time Weiss finally gave her a quick hug and best wishes to her long-time friend. Blake waved them goodbye and watched them leave before going back inside her home.
'Ok... Time to start working. I have till eight,' letting out a long breath, Blake plopped down on the couch. Professor Ashford had entered the room and climbed up on his owner's lap, purring and making himself comfortable immediately. The Faunus stroked his head soothingly as she reached forward to open one of the myriad of boxes with her spare hand. 'Ten hours, one thousand cranes, an entire house to decorate and clean, three dishes that need to be made perfectly, and a small gift to wrap... Let's get started.'
Hours passed, but the clock slowly drew close to eight o' clock, closing time for the hair salon. Five more minutes, then Yang could go home and have the rest of the night to shower her wife with all the love she could give.
She could hardly wait as she hastily started the process of cleaning her work station and disinfecting all of her equipment. Stares were drawn to her all day from her fast movements and eagerness to get home, but Yang couldn't bring herself to care. Today felt like the longest day in her life. Long, boring lectures in Professor Port's class seemed more tolerable and shorter compared to her work day today. Consequently, her actions caused her manager to question her strange behavior and earned her a light warning to be careful to the clients.
Eight o' clock finally rolled around, and Yang rushed out the door and zoomed out into the streets on Bumblebee in speeds that left slackened jaws and unblinking eyes in her wake. Time wasn't spared to exchange goodbye's from coworker to huntress.
But Yang wasn't en route to her home. Yang was blazing through the road towards the local beverage store.
She reached her destination within minutes and took the parking spot closest to the store. Throwing her bike into park and removing her helmet and goggles, Yang gave her mane a light shake before rushing yet again inside the building, nearly yanking off the glass door from its hinges.
'Please have it, please have it, please have it, please have it, YES!' Yang inwardly rejoiced as she found the last bottle of a certain brand of wine on the shelf. 'Blossoming Hills, pinot noir. Aged eight years.' Yang's grin had stretched to the ends of her face as she examined the bottle in her hand. 'Blake's gonna love this.'
Yang brisk-walked up to the counter and gently placed the bottle before the cashier, an old man who looked a little sleazy.
"Oooh nice choice here, missy. This is one of 'em good brands. And at this time a' night, gotta be a pretty expensive booty call, if ya ask me." he chuckled, showing off some of his missing teeth as he scanned the classy liquor. Yang swiftly swiped her credit card and tapped her foot impatiently as he finished processing the transaction.
"Shut up, you old pervert! Give me my damn wine already!" he handed over the bagged beverage with the receipt inside to which the blonde and beautiful huntress snatched out of his grasp and strode out of the store, ready to head to her next destination.
After an illegal u-turn and working her irresistable lady charms on a police officer to get out of a ticket, Yang decided to just finally head home. She had originally planned to pick up flowers, but the fact that she was riding on a motorcycle reduced her carrying capacity and the factor of wind breezing freely at her would endanger the safety and health of the aesthetic plants. The blonde huntress came to the conclusion that it'd be best to just head home. She kept Blake waiting long enough and the flowers could wait till tomorrow.
Popping a wheelie right in front of the officer who was just about to enter his vehicle, Yang zoomed off into the winding road.
"HEEEY!" he yelled after her. The only response he received was a roar of Bumblebee fading off into the distance. He sighed and reentered his cruiser, too tired to chase after.
'I really hope she calls me...'
Yang pulled into the opened garage and parked her bike. Wasting no time, she jumped off her bike and jogged over to the door, placing her helmet on a nearby table on her way there. As she stood in front of the garage door with her keys in one hand and the bottle in the other, Yang took a minute to compose herself. The grin on her face remained wide and joyful as ever while her heart refused to stop beating so wildly. A total of nine years of being together and the Faunus could still make the strong huntress feel like a little, happy schoolgirl in love. It was an amazement she would always cherish and a mystery she could never solve, and she didn't have any qualms about that.
She took another minute to let her love giggles die down before unlocking the door with her keys. Pushing the door wide open, Yang stepped in and called out to her beloved wife as loud as she could.
"HONEY, I'M HOOOOooowhoa..." the sight that greeted her was not the one she was expecting, but not one she disliked. Yang stared in awe, almost dropping her bottle of exquisite wine, at the giant yellow origami dragon made out of what she assumed was thousands of paper cranes in the middle of the living room. She could feel as if its piercing red eyes were staring into her soul with its tongue and teeth hung open. The room, well actually the whole house, had been lit in soft candle-glow, just like that day five years ago. The living room was cleaned and the couch had been moved off to the side in order to make room for the beautiful decoration.
Yang slowly walked up to the paper dragon, her eyes never leaving or blinking and her jaw refusing to close. She placed the wine bottle down on the table as she moved towards the beautifully crafted sculpture. Finally within arms reach of the ornament, Yang found it towering over her, almost touching the ceiling and staying upright from a custom metal stand. She examined every inch of it, not finding a single flaw. Yang tentatively reached out to touch the dragon.
She could feel the nearly sharp folded paper of the golden cranes that formed to take shape of the mythical and majestic beast she was named after. Yang had fought hundreds of deadly Grimm and enemies before, but none had made her feel so speechless and small the way the handmade dragon did.
"Beautiful..."
"You like it?"
Nearly jumping out of her skin and dropping her load for the second time, Yang spun around and gasped when she found her wife. Clad in the black elegant and sexy evening gown that Yang loved so much, Blake stood before her; she was absolutely radiant with her formal wear that hugged her toned yet feminine curves and the make-up that only served to enhance her features of her beautiful and flawless face. The soft curls of her hair cascaded gently down her shoulders and back, covering her torso but not bulking up her figure. Yang found that the candles were no longer the brightest thing to look at and if her jaw hadn't dropped to the floor already, then it was certainly unhinged now.
"Babe..." was all she could muster.
Blake chuckled at her wife's lack of speech and her obvious blush. She sauntered over and placed her hands on the blonde's front, just above her breasts. Trailing her fingertips and palms up slowly, she locked her arms around her lover's neck and pulled her down for a tender kiss.
"I missed you too, honey. Do you like your present, Mrs. Xiao Long?"
"Howhowhow how did, you...-" her brain was clearly struggling to form any coherent speech or complete sentences.
"I called in and asked Weiss to do me a favor. I spent all day making one thousand paper cranes and arranging them to form into a giant dragon. I asked for an extra hundred sheets in case I messed up. Now, we have ninety-six sheets of colored origami paper stored in the spare closet."
"So, did Weiss or Professor Ashford help you make these?"
"Nope. Not a one. Did this all by myself," Blake beamed a wide smile at her. Tears began to pool in the corner of her eyes as she thought about what she was about to say next. "It's the least I could do for all you've done," Blake's voice began to croak, but she fought back her tears. Yang pulled back to see her face, she wanted to embrace her in a comforting hug but she knew her wife wasn't done speaking. The blonde offered her a tight smile and allowed her to continue.
"You set up that amazing and thoughtful scavenger hunt five years ago and I knew I would have, and want, to return that favor. A-and, you've been very supportive of me and my fight to establish Faunus rights for all... Even after all the things we've been put through individually and together... you always stood by me, holding my hand a-and showing your support,"
Tears were starting to spill any second now. Yang took her scarf and dabbed at the corner's of Blake's amber eyes, not caring about dirtying her clothing but also careful not to make smudges on her angelic face. Once her eyes had been dried, Blake wrapped Yang in a tight hug and rested her chin on her firm shoulders to whisper in the blonde's ear. "I love you, Yang. I love you so much..."
"I love you too, Blake. More than you could ever know." Yang placed a kiss to the top of her head, in the middle of her cat ears while rubbing her back slowly and comfortingly.
They stayed in each others' arms as minutes passed by, until Yang started to hum a familiar tune that soon grew into soft singing.
"Baby, it's time to make up your mind," she began swaying, pulling her wife side to side as she started to sing their song.
Blake perked her head up and gave her wife a questioning look before smiling widely at her. "I think that tonight is when our stars align," the Faunus had sung the next line.
Yang shot her a toothy grin, "Honey, it's time to leave the doubt behind,"
Blake gave her a grin to match, "Take my hand 'cause you and I are gonna shine."
Yang twirled the woman in her arms, causing her wife to giggle softly. Back standing in each other's arms, Yang smiled before drawing Blake in for a passionate lip-lock.
"Happy anniversary, babe."
"Happy anniversary to you too, honey. So! How was your day?"
"Oh, well uh, not too bad. I was rushing through my work all day, met some old perverted cashier guy when I was buying the wine, and uh..." she pulled back to nervously give her hair a nervous tussle.
Blake raised an eyebrow at her and urged her to continue. "Uh?"
"I...almost got a ticket for making an illegal u-turn. Almost.
"Almost?" her eyebrow didn't lower, but her head did. She knew there was more to the story. "Yang, what did you do to get out of it?"
"Mmmmmm I told him I would call him for a date if he didn't give me a ticket. Sooo, now we need to pack up all of our stuff and flee the country. Now come on, let's go, we're gonna be fugitives." Yang broke away from her lover's embrace and started for the wine she left on the table behind them.
Blake rolled her eyes and scoffed lightheartedly. "This again? Yang honey, how many times are you going to break the law?"
"Hey, it wasn't my fault this time!" she defended, but Blake placed a hand on her hip and raised an eyebrow at her.
"Ok it was a little my fault," her expression wasn't wavering.
Yang huffed, knowing her wife wouldn't be sold. "Fine, it was totally my fault. I was on my way to buy flowers but I decided to head back instead. I was already carrying a bottle of wine and the flowers would've gotten ruined on the ride. Riding a motorcycle does have its downs, ya know?"
"You bought wine?"
"Sure did! Here look," Yang beckoned Blake to come over, the former showing the latter the wine brand they both enjoyed so much. Blake broke out a small grin upon reading the name.
"Blossoming Hills. Our favorite! You, you bought this?" she looked to the blonde with gleaming eyes.
"Of course, it's our anniversary." Yang gave her wife a quick side hug and a peck to the top of her head.
"I'll go put this in the wine cooler. Come on, let's go to the kitchen. There's something I want to show you." Blake took the liquor from her wife's hands and prompted her to follow.
Yang had once again felt frozen in place when she entered the dining room. Her favorite dishes had been cooked to perfection and sat on the candlelit table, waiting to be eaten. A childish grin stretched across Yang's lips as she rushed forward to take in the sight and scent of her top favorite foods of all time. Blake stood on the other side, amused and happy that her lover looked excited and joyed about seeing her favorite dishes that Blake had put in a lot of effort to make. Her cooking wasn't awful, it's just that Yang had more experience in the skill and her cooking was only marginally better than the Faunus'.
"Lasagna, sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, and homestyle chicken and shrimp fried rice. Blake, you're the best..."
"I know. Now, you stay here while I go cool this. You can start eating, you must be hungry." Blake sent her a wink before disappearing into the kitchen.
Yang smiled and continued to admire the look and smell of her loved dishes for a few more seconds before pulling a seat open on one end and popping a steamed broccoli in her mouth. She rejoiced and melted in delight as she relished in the still warm, slightly salted taste of the vegetable. After she swallowed down her food, she saw Blake come back in with both hands behind her back. Yang furrowed her eyebrows but before she could speak, Blake cut her off. Placed in front of the blonde was two presents of different sizes, one was small and long while the other was rather thick and heavy.
"Happy anniversary, Yang. I bought you some presents. Go ahead, open them," she stood over her wife and waited in anticipation to see the blonde's reaction.
"Awww Blake! Thank you very much! You really didn't have to get me anything, babe..." she flashed the Faunus a sincere, loving smile before beginning to carefully tear open the small present. Finally unraveled, Yang's eyebrows shot up in surprise as she recognized the present to be a jewelry box. Undoing the ribbon that held it secure, Yang lifted the pink cover off and gasped in delight when she saw the real gift. It was a golden lion pendant facing sideways and roaring with one line of tiny diamonds going down its curving mane. Yang gently lifted the gold chain up, the jewel dangling ever so slightly in front of her eyes.
"Babe, it's beautiful..." Yang softly said in a voice that was just barely above a whisper. She looked to her wife with a moistened stare and gave her gratitude.
Blake smiled back at her and took the necklace from her and proceeded to hook it around her beloved's neck, the latter immediately moving her hair out of the way. "Open the other one. I had it specially made just for you,"
Letting out a brief hum in response, Yang picked up the heavier gift and went about unwrapping it. She let out a burst of laughter when she saw the cover.
"The Big Book of Puns, by Yang and Blake Xiao Long."
"I called the book publishing company and asked them to publish a book for me, they did it for free because I'm their number one customer and avid reader. Anyways, I tried to remember almost all of the puns I've ever heard you use and I even put some of my own. I really hope you like it, honey."
"Like it? Babe, I LOVE IT!" Yang shot up from her seat and engulfed her lover in a loving, backbreaking embrace while lifting her off her feet. Blake had grown accustomed to these particular brand of hugs, but she still had trouble finding ways to breathe and avoid being crushed into two halves.
"Yang, Yang! T-too, too tight..!" she gasped and wiggled in attempt to save her lungs and ribcage from being squeezed any further.
"Oh! Sorry.." she set the Faunus down and released her hold, but kept her hands on her shoulders. "I'm just really happy and lucky, you know?" their roles now reversed; Yang had started to form small pools in the corners of her lilac eyes as her throat began to constrict. "You did all this for me. You cooked, you cleaned, you made a giant, awesome dragon made out of a thousand paper cranes, ...and you even wrote me a book!" small trails of water began spilling out, but Yang was quicker in wrapping her wife in a gentle embrace before a tear could roll down her cheek.
"Thank you so much, Blake. I really really love you.."
"You're very welcome, Yang. I love you, too." They stayed in each others' arms, nuzzling and whispering soft words of affection to one another. Eventually, they broke apart. Their eyes and hands found each other and soft smiles plastered their faces. Lips connected in a gentle, brief kiss.
"You know, there goes a legend where if you make one thousand origami cranes, your wish will be granted. Well, my wish is for your wish to come true."
A wide, loving smile worked its way to reach the edges of Yang's beautiful face. "It already has," Yang drew her wife in for another passionate kiss. Blake cupped her cheeks while the blonde wrapped her arms around the Faunus' thin waist. "Now come on, let's go upstairs so I could take those clothes off you and have wild, hot anniversary sex! Whoo hoo!"
Pulling her lover by the hand, Yang led them to the bedroom, all too eager and bouncing along the way. Blake was mildly surprised that she wasn't stripping out of her clothes already like the last time.
"You don't want to eat first?"
"We can eat that tomorrow. Besides, I'm hungrier for something else."
A/NN: All riiight! There you have it, everyone! The extra special chapter. I may have overstuffed the fluff here a little bit. It's like fluff overload! Fluff overload, hmm...that could be a good name for a special kind of cotton candy, or ice cream flavor.. Hmph, oh well. Anyways! I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I had writing it. Oh! And I claim no ownership of the song they sang to each other. I believe every great, adorable couple needs their own song and Shine seems to be the perfect song for not only Arkos, but Bumblebee(BY) in the RWBY fandom as well. Seems fitting for them, right Rods?
Rodsworth: Indeed it does. It seems as if the lyrics are coming from Blake's point of view.
Right?! All that darkness and who is the light? Yang! Case closed. Anyways, please leave me a review everyone! I really do love hearing what you all have to say about my work, whether its good or bad. Every bit helps me get better with me writing. Fun fact, this story was in violation of this site's rules. A K+ rated fic is not supposed to have the F word in it! Not even in the A/N...N.
Rodsworth: You really should learn to control your profanity every once in a while.
Yeah probably. Hey, I don't swear all THAT much. I do watch my language around my elders. Anyways, let's wrap this up, Rods. Goodbye, my lovely readers! I hope you all enjoyed and I'm thankful for every review, favorite, and follow I have gotten. Come on, Rods. It's about time we got back to our other work.
Rodsworth: Goodbye everyone! Till next time.
