I'm the Big Brother Now
Chapter 11: The Park
Date: August 4th
Sam's POV
"SAM!" I jolted out of my pleasant sleep by the sound of Bobby yelling. Assuming he was in trouble or worse, Dean was, I ran down the stairs.
When I got to the kitchen prepared to fight anything, I was a little shocked to see Bobby holding and waving a chocolate bar at a Dean who was standing on top of the counter… covered in syrup and powdered sugar.
I couldn't help myself. I started laughing so hard, I had to grab hold of the wall to keep from falling over.
"B-bobby, what are you doing?" I finally said after I managed to get a breath.
The man glared back at me. "I'm throwing a surprise party for your birthday, the hell does it look like I'm doing? I'm trying to get Dean down from there!"
I chuckled again. "How'd he even get up there?"
Dean spoke for the first time since I'd come down, "I cwimbed! Like dis!" He started moving his hands the way you would if you were climbing… Kinda.
"Dean, will you please come back down here so I can get you cleaned up? We're gonna go to the store so we can get some stuff for dinner tonight. Kay? You can get some new toys, too."
Dean's face lit up instantly, "Okay!"
Before I could register, he jumped off the cabinets. Fortunately my years of hunting had given me pretty quick reflexes. I lurched forward and caught my brother right before he hit the floor.
"Dean! You can't just do something like that without warning me!"
"But… You caughtsted me!"
I pinched the bridge of my nose, "That's not the point Dean. What if I hadn't caught you? You need to be more careful, alright?"
"Otay Daddy!"
"You're so cute, god damn."
"I want dis one! NO wait! Dis! Dis is da one! Daddy! Wook at dis one doh!" Dean ran from toy to toy trying to pick one out.
"Dean, I said one. Which one do you like the most?"
The boy had a very serious look of distress on his face. "Umm. Umm. Dis one!" He whipped around and held up a little blue bear with little black button eyes and a cute smile.
"You want a teddy bear?"
Dean sqeezed the bear to his chest. "Yeah! He's da best. I can sees it. His name sall be… umm. Winton!"
I raised a questioning eyebrow. "Winton?"
"No! Winton!"
"Uhh… Isn't that- Oh! Winston!" I finally said after a moment of utter confusion.
Dean clapped, "Yeah!" He looked at the little blue bear with a small smile. "Winton is good."
I laughed and ruffled his hair a bit. "I'm sure he is Dean."
I bought Dean's bear and a few other groceries for dinner and some snacks for Dean to eat at the park. Yep, park. I decided to surprise him with a trio to the park. When we were growing up, we never really got to go to parks.
Dean was running around the living room squealing with delight. "We getta go to a pawk!" He picked up Winston, threw him in the air, and caught him again. "Da pawk Winton! Is you ecited?!"
This will be perfect for when he grows up again. I pulled out my phone and started recording the crazy scene. Dean ran around and jumped onto the couch and jumped back down.
"Yay!"
"Dean, you don't wanna use up all your energy do you? Come in here and help me pack the snacks, okay?"
He set his bear on the couch and ran over to me, "Otay!"
We walked into the kitchen and pulled out a little cooler that we bought. Dean would hand me the food from the bag and then I would put them into the cooler. By the end, we had crackers, fruit snacks, and some apple juice boxes.
"Alright Dean, I think we're ready. Do you want to bring Winston? He might get dirty, but we can always wash him."
Dean nodded his head quickly, "Winton HAS to come!"
"DADDY!" I looked up from the book I had borrowed from Bobby and saw Dean running towards me with a little girl with strawberry blonde hair and big purple glasses falling down her nose.
I sat up a bit more. "Yeah buddy?"
"Pwease push me and Candy on da swings!"
"Candy?"
The little girl stepped forward shyly, "I-I'm Candice. My friends call me Candy. Dean is my new friend! He says you're real nice and would push us on the swings!"
I looked quickly at Dean and saw him beaming at his new found friend. "Well you is da best daddy!"
"Uh huh. You're just trying to butter me up so I'll push you on the swing huh?"
Dean looked confused. "But… Daddy, why would I buttew you up? You is not toasts."
I laughed, "Nevermind. Do you know Candy's mom? She might not appreciate it if a strange man started pushing her daughter on the swings. Maybe I should meet her."
"This way," Candy said with a smile. "You're gonna LOVE my mommy! She's the bestest! She makes me cookies lots! Her cookies are real good!"
I smiled as Candice kept telling me all about her mom. She sounds amazing. I wonder if she's pretty… Probably. Wait! Sam! Jesus! What are you even thinking?! There is a very very high probability that this lady is married. Slow your roll.
"There she is! Mommy!" Candice ran forward to a woman sitting on a bench. She had long, gorgeous strawberry blonde hair, just like her daughter. She had the most beautiful blue eyes… SAM! Knock it off. Jesus.
Dean and I walked the rest of the way to where Candice and her mom were.
"Hi, I'm Sam. This is my son Dean. Your daughter, Candice, asked if I would push them on the swings. I figured I should ask because I know how I would react if I saw a stranger pushing Dean." I laughed a bit awkwardly.
Candice's mom chuckled, "I suppose so." She held out her hand, "I'm Bridget."
"Sam"
"Well Sam, thank you for offering to push her." She smiled at her daughter. "Don't let her fool you. She looks sweet, but secretly, she's a monster." Her laugh, that reminded me of bells, rang out again.
I laughed with her, "I can tell." Candice and Dean ran off to the swing hand in hand while I walked a bit slower, thinking about Bridget.
A/N: Alright. I don't know if Bridget and Candice are going to stick around. I think they might, but it depends on the reaction from you guys. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! I really wouldn't be where I am without you guys
