THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ANNOUCEMENT!
SOUND THE ALARMS, BATTON THE HATCHES!
WE HAVE A STAGE OMGA INTERNET ALERT!
(In the US only, thankfully this shouldn't affect you guys in other countries yet.)
Okay, so now that I got your attention, hi, it's me (of course). Now usually I won't be posting on my story unless it was something important or another chapter, but this is important. Extremely. The fate of the Internet is in jeopardy.
By December 14, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote to repeal Net Neutrality regulations by removing the Internet from Title II regulations under the Telecommunication Act of 1934. This will allow internet service providers (ISPs) to essentially do whatever the hell they want to us and internet services and charge as much as they want.
In essence alone, corporations like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T want to make the internet the new cable. For those of you wondering what that all means, here. Think of sites like Google, Yahooh, and Bing are in the search package while YouTube, Netflix and Hulu are in the video package, and so on and so forth. Each of these packages will cost money on top of what you are paying for wifi! And that's just the tip of the iceberg to what ISPs will be able to do if this repeal goes through.
What can you do? If you're old enough, call your representative in Congress, tell your friends and family to do the same, message everyone you know about this. Get involved.
For those of you too young to call your representative, talk to your parents, get them involved, and get everyone you can to listen to look up about Net Neutrality under Title II regulations.
The FCC is not listening to the American public, so make your representative listen by threatening their seat.
You can make a difference, we all can. Together. And together, we can protect everything we love.
I don't usually get political, but this is worth getting political about.
Be brave, be bold, and most of all, walk with all your eyes open.
