Chapter 18- Long Live Dreamers

Four Months Later

Ava's POV.

A Diary Entry- March 26th, 2013.

Dear Diary,

Things around here are going pretty well, and my 12th Birthday Party last December was epic!

Shay and Ash took me to see Taylor Swift perform in New York City. I say 'perform' because it wasn't just a concert. In true Taylor fashion, it was a whole theatrical production! Since Taylor's birthday falls on the same day as mine, Taylor herself brought my friend Lauren and I up to sing on stage with her! How sick is that? right?

I know what you're thinking - What about the house party we were planning to have and the new family I was supposed to meet? Well, my moms and I decided that a celebration of that scale could afford to be postponed until Christmas, so that's what we did.

Now, Obviously, The month of December, 2012 was great for me and my family- but it was also the month that Sasha had her baby.

Alyssa May Pieterse-Blackburn was born exactly four months ago, today. The day after Christmas. She was 3 pounds, 12 ounces at birth. I was even able to hold her for the first time last week. She's the prettiest baby I've ever seen- even with her lazy eye. Sasha told me that Alyssa has something called 'Cerebral Palsy'. She got the condition because her oxygen supply was so severely cut off during the attempted abortion. The Doctors say that she might never walk, or dress herself, or be able to learn normally in school, but she should be able to talk at some point, so that's good.

Whatever happens though, I know that Sasha and Tyler will always love their baby. Sasha seems thrilled to be a mom, even though she just turned 16 in February.

And Even though I was adopted- I know that Ashley and Shay will always love me. This past year has been the best, worst, craziest year of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I've even slightly altered one of Taylor's 2010 songs, and in a few weeks, at the school talent show, -Oh yeah, did I mention I started school in this 7th Grade this January? (Took a few months off) -any, I'm sing the song in the school auditorium. It will be dedicated to my moms.

I know that in the eyes of any other 7th grader, singing and dedicating a song to your parents in front of your whole middle school would be the epitome of lame - but I'm not just any kid, I'm Ava Michaela Mitchell, And I'm Fabulous. The world better brace itself for me.

Ashley yells to her daughter from the main hallway of their condo, and Ava puts her gel pen down.

"Ava, Sasha's leaving Alyssa with us tonight. How would you feel about giving her a bottle, squirt?"

The preteen quickly picks up her pen again.

Oops, Gotta go. Time for me to give my baby cousin a bottle for the first time! wish me luck. XOXO~Ava.

"I said remember this moment, in the back of my mind, the time we stood with our shaking hands and all your fans went wild. We were the beautiful queens, and they read off our names, The night you danced like you knew our lives would never be the same. You held your heads up like heroes, on a history book page, it was the end of a decade - but the start of an age."

"Long Live the walls we crashed through, how the city lights shined just for Shay and You. I was screamin' Long Live all the magic we made, and bring on all the pretenders. One day, we will be remembered."

(Instrumentals are played by Lauren)

"I said remember this feelin', I passed the pictures around, of all the years that I stood there on the sidelines, wishing for you two."

"We are the beautiful queens. You traded off all your fame for a crown, then they gave us our trophies, and we held them up for our town."

"The religious were outraged, screaming 'This is absurd.' Cause for a moment just one young girl and her favorite couple got to rule the world."

"Long Live the walls we crashed through, how the City Lights shined just for Ash and You. I was screamin' Long Live all the magic we made, and bring on all of the haters, I'm not afraid."

"Singin' Long Live all the mountains we moved I had the time of my life fighting haters with you two, and Long Long Live, that look on your face, and bring on all the pretenders, some day, we will be remembered."

At the closing of the song, the Simi Valley Middle School Auditorium erupts into applause, and Ava runs to Hug her BFF. She then notices her crush, Andrew Stevens, in the audience. He winks at her. The young performer smiles widely at everyone in the audience, and, holding hands, she and Lauren take a bow together.

"So Mona's A, huh?" Lauren Lewis chats to her best friend's mom, Ashley Benson, as they sit at a Red Lobster Booth, Across from Shay and Ava. "Yup." She replies, as a matter-of-factly. "What about Maya? Is she seriously dead or are the writers just screwing with us." The actress raises a brow. "Now, you know I can't tell you that." The persistent twelve year old speaks again. "Okay, but who will Emily date next, and what about Haleb? I love Haleb."

Before the blonde can respond, her daughter cuts in. "Lauren. Just watch the show. If either of my moms spoil stuff to you and it gets out, they could be fired. Then no more Haleb."

The auburn haired girl sighs. "Okay, okay." She mutters. "What else can we talk about?"

Shay pipes up. "I could tell the story of when I first met Ava." Lauren Looks excited. "Oooh. Yeah, do tell." Everyone giggles at the young girl's comment.

"Okay, well it all started when I almost ran her over with my car."

The story evokes great memories in the little family, and makes them realize how amazing fate truly is. Ava believes that if it wasn't for fate, and for dreaming, she never would have even met Shay that day.

Dreams, my friends, are everything. And day dream believers are the people who shape our world.

So hold Fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a bird that cannot fly.

Long Live the Dreamers.
