Chapter 4
Wacky Mirrors

Gasping for air, I clung to the open space, searching for something to hold on to. "What a weird dream." I said out loud. I stretched and found myself propped up against a stone wall. My eyes sprung opened. I searched frantically for my friends. "Where?..." I began, when I was met with happy voices. "Fiona!" called Elisa. Her brother smiled down at me. She gave me a tight hug as if she was scared to lose me. Amy gave me a questionable look. Upset? Angry?... I could never tell with Amy, even after all of these years. Raven was silent behind Amy, while levitating. "Are you ok?" smiled Elisa. I nodded.
How the hell did I get here?, I thought. I looked up to meet Raven's eyes. She seemed normal. "Sorry." She said, emotionlessly. "It's fine. I knew it wasn't you." I replied. My legs felt numb from sitting. Elisa and Amy helped me up from the ground. Pins and needles invaded my legs. I almost screamed however I held it in. It was only pins and needles, I didn't need to worry my friends any more than I already have. I hopped and tried to circulate my blood around my body especially my legs. They felt prickly as if I was unconscious for few hours. Amy held me as I steadied myself against her. "Let's go this direction. We can't go back. Only forward." Smiled Dan. I nodded as I knew he was right. He was never wrong, that boy. The four of us strolled down a spiral hill, it twisted and turned as if it was a rollercoaster. As we came closer to the bottom, loud music entered our ears. "Is that.. Carnival music?" asked Amy. We stopped and listened to the tunes closely. It was indeed carnival music. "Why the hell?" I began when our feet had minds of their own. They led the way towards a fun carnival that sat beside a stream. Laughter and corny carnival music could be heard. Loud rides and bright lights could be seen. A large Ferris wheel could be seen from a distance. We came to set of bright red gates that said 'FUN INSIDE'. "That doesn't sound suspicious." Raven said out loud. We stood staring at the happy faces and countless clowns and entertainers. "But it looks fun." replied Elisa. "We'll go through and look about but no stopping for anything." replied Dan. We all agreed. I smiled as the corny music began to change and become catchy. I tapped my foot as I walked while nodding my head.

The smell of cotton candy and popped popcorn wafted into my nose. It made my stomach rumbled. Smiling stall employees turned as we walked through the different tents of entertainment. "Can't hurt if we play one game." I said excitedly. Elise squealed, she also found the carnival games amusing. "What happened to not stopping?" asked Amy, as she stood beside the milk jug stall. She peered over, past the man in the red and white striped outfit with matching hat. "These games are usually rigged anyway." She stated. The man behind the stall did not flinch or become angry. He simply chuckled and waved towards his game. "These games are free. You can as many times as you would like. No tricks just treats." He said while grabbing three soft balls. He placed them in front of Amy. "Up to you little lady. Unless you're not brave enough." He winked. Amy furiously grabbed the balls. "Not brave enough." She grumbled underneath her breath. She fired them at the three white jugs that sat upon a wooden table. All three of them fell over in a crash. "Winner." Shouted the employee. He grabbed a small blue monkey. "Who's next?" he said while placing the monkey into Amy's hands. "Me." Elisa giggled. She stood beside Amy at the stall. "I hope I get a penguin." She squealed. "Remember we're trying to get-…" began Dan. He noticed a nut and cotton candy stall beside a shotgun stall. His sentence was never finished. He grabbed a handful of peanuts and shoved them into his mouth. Grabbing the shotgun, he yanked the lever towards him. He was checking the gun was loaded and ready to shoot. Staring at the targets he shot them one by one, knocking them to the ground. "This place isn't half bad." He said cheerfully. I looked towards Raven and Arron, they had both disappeared. "Guys, I'm going to look for the others." I said, as I waved bye towards my friends.

I walked past the many food stalls and prize stalls to a large orange circus tent. "That wasn't there when we arrived." I said out loud. The entrance seemed closed, but as I drew nearer it slowly opened like curtains. I peeked into the tent. A large crowd was sitting on bleachers that faced a sand pit in the middle of the tent. A lion trainer and its lion was doing jumps through hoops while acrobats were performing above on robes and swings. Arron was sitting on the bleachers; he wasn't too pleased about the animals performing. "Animal cruelty." He shouted. A few people booed him, but he was more fascinated with the outfits and the music. I looked past him and the crowd, something caught my eye. Raven was in the back with the performers.

Slipping by the performing lion and its master, I grabbed a prop of a tree. I pretended to be part of the crew as I walked by the performers. I dropped the prop when I was safely behind a wooden box, a few steps from Raven. "Raven." I said softly. She turned towards me. She was levitating above the boxes and props for different shows. "I found Beast Boy." She said sternly. Her voice cracked a little as if she was holding back tears. "Where is he?" I asked. She did not answer by words but by motions. She turned towards the back of the tent where there was an open exit, much like the front. I nodded, I knew he was somewhere there. Whilst making sure the coast was clear, I hurriedly walk towards the back of the tent as I did not want to be caught by a performer or worse the ringmaster.

As the fresh air hit my face, I could smell rotten fruit and vegetables. "What is that smell?" I gagged. Raven floated towards a large cage. From where I was standing I could only see hay and a food bowl, however as I drew nearer I could see a green mouse. "Beast Boy?" I said. The mouse transformed into a bear, then into a snake and then finally the one and only Beast Boy. "That's my stage name. Sometimes there's worse names." Beast Boy's ears drooped down. He was wearing a chained collar with spikes surrounding it. A very large child with cotton candy stuck to his face; appeared in front of the cage, his thin friend followed behind him closely. "Look it's the freak." He chuckled, while chucking a tomato at Beast Boy's head. "Hey!" I shouted as I turned towards them. Raven who had said nothing for the past few minutes, spun in the air towards the kids. Her eyes had turned a dangerous black colour. Her hands were glowing with magic and anger. "LEAVE!" she screamed with fury. She began to levitate wooden stools, boxes and tables. The kids nervously backed away. They quickly went as they came. "BB?" Raven said softly. She put her hand on his face. She wiped the rotten tomato away from his face. "What have they done to you?" she asked, with tears prickling her eyes. Using her powers, she cracked the collar and chains apart. The next thing to crack was the lock that was attached to the cage. I stood in awe. Beast Boy slowly stepped out into the free air. "Thanks, lady." He grinned. His green fur ruffled in the air. "You don't remember me?" Raven said hurt. "Should I?" he asked, while scratching his head. I nervously scratched my head, this conversation became very awkward. I turned towards a different direction. In the distance I could see a small mirrored carriage sitting beside another orange tent. This tent however had yellow stripes and was much smaller than the other one. "Hey Rae, I'm just going over there." I said whilst pointing towards the carriage. She nodded her head positively. As I made my way towards the strange tent, Beast Boy had shouted something. I couldn't hear him over the loud applause of the crowd from the bigger tent.

Reaching the tent, I noticed juggling pins and balls beside it. I turned towards the mirrored carriage. The sunlight on the mirrors travelled to the ground and made it sparkle. I smiled. It looked magical. "Hey there." Said a scratchy voice. I jumped. I looked up and a bright red nosed clown stared down at me. His mouth was a full grin. Taken back I took a step closer to the tent. Another voice appeared from behind me. "Don't be scared." It whispered. I jumped. The shivers down my spine were obvious on my face. This clown was only four feet, but had disgusting neon colours on their face instead of the traditional colours. "You gave me a fright." I said weakly. Both clowns laughed. "Excellent." The small clown said whilst grinning. My eyes grew. Before I knew it, the clowns were chasing me onto the carriage. "Have fun." The large clown bellowed after me. The doors clicked shut and I was trapped in a sea of mirrors. "Great. Just Great." I said whilst slumping onto the ground.

A few moments earlier…..

"Don't go down there. There's creepy clowns that terrorize people!" shouted Beast Boy. He waited for a response from me however it was too late, I had already gone. "Your friend might be in trouble." Beast Boy said. Raven nodded. "She has been for this entire adventure." Raven stated, as she stared at Beast Boy's scars. "Who did this?" she asked, whilst placing her hands on his hands. He winced. She was using her magic to heal them. "The Ringmaster. He isn't a nice guy, even though everyone loves him." Beast Boy replied. A loud eruption from the large tent, got their attentions. "What the hell?" Beast Boy said. The pair looked at each other and began to enter the tent.

"Get your hands off me!" shouted Arron. He had unchained one of the performing elephants. Two strong men had gripped onto Arron's arms. Amy and Elisa had walked into the tent with multiple stuffed animals each. Dan had a few girls under his arm like arm candy. He obviously made an impression on them. The elephant had ripped a hole in the side of the tent and had left a lot of guests running scared. "No one disrupts the show!" screamed a furious Ringmaster. His long curled black moustached spread past his cheeks. Striding across the sandpit, he stood in front of Arron. He put his face into Arron's face. "Stupid boy!" he shouted. He slapped Arron across the face. All of my friends were shocked. Who did he think he was to do that? Arron baring his teeth, his face turning bright red. "Don't you dare touch me." He dangerously commanded. The man chuckled. He grabbed a whip nearby. "Who's going to stop me?" he said to the crowd. All of the patrons gawked in silence. They did not want to get on the bad side of this man. "Em, us." Amy said while throwing down her toys. Her fists were clenched. Elisa slipped a pink penguin inside her coat. "Yeah." She said while pulling out an ice-gun. Her brother pushed the girls away while pulling out his own ice-gun from under his coat. The Ringmaster continued to chuckle. He swung the whip and aimed for Arron's face. Raven reciting incantations, her eyes were glowing. Beast Boy changed into a tall T-Rex.

Arron bit hard into the strong men's hands. They winced and dropped him onto his feet. Wiping the purple blood from his mouth, he jumped over the whip that was coming his way. Raven threw the strong men across the room. Performers joining into the fight, fists, ropes and other props flying everywhere. Amy punching the acrobats on their ropes. Dan and Elisa firing their ice blasts towards the performers with weapons. Raven sending a lion into the cage that had held Beast Boy. The Ringmaster in awe stared at the chaos. Beast Boy caught his eye. "Beast." He spat. The T-Rex growled at the Ringmaster. Grabbing his whip, he raced towards the dinosaur. Beast Boy charged towards the fat moustache man. The horrible man jumped on a small trampoline and swung the whip in Beast Boy's direction. It caught Beast Boy's arm. He growled in defiance. His dinosaur mouth took hold of the whip, snapping it in half. The scared Ringmaster took a step back. "It was only a joke." He said fearfully. Beast Boy's eyes glowed red. The fat man ran out the back of the tent with his hands flaring in the air. "Where's Fiona?" Arron asked while pushing over a performer. "Oh no." Raven said, as she stared out the back of the tent.

As I stared at the ceiling, it too was covered in mirrors. How the hell do I get out of here?, I thought. Staring at the different mirrors, I began pushing on them. They felt very hard. Maybe… Maybe I could do something like the scene from Kill Bill, I thought. I stood up from the ground. Staring at a small triangle mirror, I placed my fist on it. Counting from one to three, I knew I had to punch it with all my might. One… Two… Three. This wasn't going to end well, I thought. Bringing my fist back, I pushed the most energy I could into my fist. Swinging my fist into the mirror. It shook with vibrations, a small crack appeared in the centre. "Is that it!" I shouted whilst throwing my arms into the air. A shooting pain appeared in my fist. I screeched with agony. "Fu-.." I began my swear when the carriage shook. "Fiona!" shouted a voice. I screamed. Thank goodness, I thought. My friends, finally.

A loud crunching sound came through the ceiling. A green T-Rex appeared in front of me. "Thanks BB!" I praised the dinosaur. He blushed slightly. I peered outside. "Where's the creepy twins?" I asked. Raven levitated beside the dinosaur. "I tied them up in the tent." She smirked. I nodded. "Nice." I said while high-fiving the dinosaur. "We got to leave this creepy town." Suggested Amy. "Definitely. But how?" asked Dan. "Well, there's a portal in a mirror inside the small tent." Beast Boy said while changing back to his old self. "Well what are we waiting for." Smirked Arron. He and Elisa strolled over to the tent. Yet another adventure and land to venture too.
