Title: Fixing Us

Summary: "I see the way you look at her…" "Wh-what? -What are you sa-" "I know… Cause... Cause you never look at me that way…"

Chapter 6: 6 months

It has been 6 months since our breakup. I just feel empty. I just don't know how to describe it.

After we broke up their relationship went public just that.

They look happy and I'm ok with "that" I guess? Since Natsu is the one who initiated the breakup and surprisingly I was really fine with it.

Was I?

I don't know.

We did end up on good terms though.

Or maybe I am just don't see the reason or facts on why we should move forward with the relationship.

For starters…

Natsu and Lisanna wants to go to the same university. They both have same dream and concept together maybe that's why they are made for each other?

Unlike me, who has different plans for myself.

Ughh, I hate adulting.

But I'm doing alright been focusing on myself, keeping myself occupied with my goals since next year will be graduation and I always wanted to go to my dream school. Plus, scouting season for university volleyball teams already started.

"So, Luce! You are going right?" Sting asked as he played with his soccer ball while walking.

"Yeah for sure. Saturday, right?" Lucy said yawning.

"Don't forget you baka, and don't over work in your part time" Passing the ball to me.

"Can't have to save up for uni, unlike you rich people" rolling my eyes playfully.

"It's not my fault" He said catching the ball back smoothly.

He suddenly groan.

"I think I don't wanna play on Saturday I just remembered my crazy ex stalking me" Sting said expression turning dead.

"Not my problem" Lucy said smiling as she turns to face another direction.

"Mean shit! Come on pretend to be my girlfriend for once" He whined.

"Eww~" Lucy said gagging.

"Whatever, this is my direction see you this Saturday. You'll be fine blondie~" Lucy said while doing a peace sign and walk away from him.

"Yeah, yeah" he whispered pouting at her retreating figure.

I looked down my watch and noticed I have been talking too much with Sting and I'm going to be late for my part time.

"Shit..." I started panicking and set my pace faster.

I collided with someone.

"I'm so sorry!" I said so embarrassed as I stood up immediately and bowed. Not even bothering to look at the person.

"Luce?"

I froze a little.

Luce?

I looked up.

"Natsu!" I said surprised. Why him?! Of all people. Sobbing internally.

He chuckled and brushed my hair into place.

"I'm sorry I was running late and I- "rambling my words like a guilty person blushing at the physical contact he gave me.

"It's fine really, late for part time? You ok?" Adjusting the strap of his bag as he inquired looking at me intently.

I nodded.

Awkward silence.

"I should get going and oh! Goodluck on the game this Saturday! I'll be watching!" I said smiling as I waved running away.

Natsu blinked as he watched Lucy's retreating figure away from him.

~BUZZ!~

Natsu looked down and found Lucy's ringing phone and he looked up again and saw Lucy gone already.

Without thinking he suddenly picked up and answer the phone.

~FLASHBACK~

It was a very cold snowy afternoon.

They are walking home together after they ate sweets at the café Lucy has been wanting to go for a long time.

"Oh don't forget to give this to your cute little sister mkay?" Lucy said handing him the sweets. She knows Himawari likes sweets.

He smiled a little and thanked her. He sighed silently and squeezed her hand.

"Luce, I need to talk to you about something…" Natsu said finally making up his mind to break up with Lucy before she finds out.

"Hmmm, what is it? Lucy let go of Natsu's hand.

Natsu sighed heavily.

"You and me…" He said his voice trailing off as he continued speaking.

Lucy froze.

Trying to keep herself from shaking.

Her heart thumping loud in her system.

Standing there listening to him at the same time isn't helping cause her mind and body won't cooperate in listening to what he wants to say.

"The thing is I want to br—"

"Luce!" Natsu was taken aback as she engulfed him in a big hug.

"I get it…" Lucy whispered.

"Huh?" Natsu said in confusion.

"What I mean to say is, I get what you want to say so… Its ok" Lucy said hugging him tighter.

Natsu was awestruck. So, did she get what he wanted to say to her? Or? —

"Natsu"

"Hm?" He hummed still unsure of what is going on.

"Can I just hug you for one last time?" Asking softly.

His eyes got wide in realization.

'So, she did get it' His gaze slowly softening and slowly returned the hug back as well.

The heavy feeling on his shoulder is now gone.

Sighing softly. His mind racing with thoughts.

He felt his emotions flowing weirdly. He was supposed to be relief and satisfied.

It should feel good right?

Not like this?

It just feels like something isn't right for him.

But,

Natsu is so sure that he loves Lisanna not Lucy anymore. He was sure of it. That is why he was doing this for his sake and Lucy's sake to not keep doing it behind her back. He did the right thing.

Did he?

"I'm sorry" Natsu whispered as he hugged her back tightly.

Lucy shook her head.

"You shouldn't be" She said softly letting go of him.

Life is unfair.

At the end of the day Lucy still choose Natsu's happiness even if it hurts her.

"Hello Luce! This Saturday after the game please bring my folder I think I asked you to keep it in your bag today. Hand it to me after the—"

"I'm not Luce" I said my voice filled with irritation as I heard another male voice using my nickname for her. I looked at the name of the caller and my eyes squinted in annoyance.

Must be her new boyfriend.

"Did I dial the wrong—" The voice on the other line seems so confused.

I sighed lazily. My attitude dripping with no respect.

"Luce dropped her phone when she bumped into me" I said rolling my eyes using her nickname.

"Who are you? Where are you? Do you know her? I will pick up her phone and give it back to her." He asked.

This dude is nosy as fuck.

"It's Natsu" I said smugly.

"Ohh, you mean her ex?" He said holding in his chuckle on the other line.

Motherfucker.

"Whatever, I could hand her phone back anyway." I hanged up. Feeling pissed.

"I just hope she still works on the same place" I mumbled as I put the phone on my pocket.

I looked at my watch and remembered she works for about 6 hours until 10PM. I might as well wait after her shift.

I sighed and stepped out the employee entrance at the back as I was fishing inside my bag for my phone.

Shit.

Where the hell is it?

Is it in my pocket?

I wondered as I put my two hands inside my pockets.

I scratch my head.

"Where is it?" I pouted in frustration.

I must have left it in the park with Sting?

Or when I bumped into—

"Otsukaresama! Looking for this?" A voice said holding up my phone.

-"Natsu?"

"Natsu!"
