There will be a chapter of Closer Look soon. I promise.

I hope you like it.

This is a take on what would happen after Hotch gets served on Birthright.

She went to her house, she knew he would be upset and not up for company. She would like to think she knew him, they had had so many problems when she had first started, a lot of prejudice, on both parts.

But after the whole Gideon leaving and her quitting the FBI and coming back, they started talking and talking soon became drinking together in the office and talking about cases, nothing personal, ever.

After some time it became drinking at a bar, just getting out and going somewhere. Apparently the cleaning lady didn't like finding people that late at night in the office, and it would be bad if people saw and started talking.

Next came the JJ incident, at least that is what it is called in her mind. They were at a bar when JJ had walked in with a date, Emily had spotted her first and warned Hotch. They didn't say anything, but paid the tab and left the bar quickly, without saying hello to the blond agent, each one to their own house, alone. No questions asked. They hadn't discussed it, didn't say a word about it, but that had changed something.

The fact that they had almost "got caught" by a team member had being a tiebreaker, Emily just hadn't known that at the time. She knew something was happening with him, they talked more about their personal lives now, they had only each other that would understand. Thus what ever it was, he would come out and tell her, when he was ready.

It had being a surprise to know he was separated, they had started meeting in her apartment after the whole JJ thing, and he never offered his place, but she never thought much about it.

She got home and put her keys in the counter and called her favorite chinese restaurant, she had being on a eating healthy kind of vibe, but she really wanted comfort food.

In her bedroom she took of her work clothes and put some running shorts and a thank top, she liked to wear those type of clothes at home, they were comfy and she could do anything in them, from falling asleep to go outside and get the paper.

After going over the mail and getting a beer from the fridge there was a knock at the door. She opened and saw Hotch with his head down and a bag in his hand.

"She left." He said looking up.

"I'm sorry." There wasn't much she could say.

"I signed it. Can I crash here?"

She opened the door for him, he was ready to talk.
