Her friends let out a collective gasp, instantly sobering and looking guilty. "Oh, Kagome." Eri said, throwing her arms around Kagome in a tight hug.

"We're sorry we weren't able to be there for you." Yuka, apologized tears springing to her eyes.

"But.. what happened?" Ayumi asked, her tone considerably gentler in light of the dismal news.

"Car accident." Kagome said simply, shifting a bit uncomfortably. Kurama knew her discomfort was due to the fact she was forced to lie to her friends about the exact nature of Inuyasha's death. It had been no accident, but just a matter of old age finally claiming then hanyou's life. The youkai half of him had given him a life span that lasted centuries, but ultimately it had been not enough for him to see Kagome again.

"We split up for awhile after we decided some separation would be better for both of us." Kagome said solemnly, and her eyes grew misty as she recalled the events. Kurama guessed she was referring to her inability to return to the Feudal Era once the quest had been completed. "But before I knew it…" Kagome continued, her voice trembling. "He was gone."

Kurama started foward, before remembering he had to calm down. He could feel his emotions fluctate in reaction to Kagome's distress, and he wanted badly to be able to ease her pain.

Ayumi moved forwards, her hands coming to rest tenderly on Kagome's arm. "I'm sorry we were so tactless… How are you doing?"

The young woman sighed. "I just found out recently, and it's been hard to know I'm never going to see him again." Kagome was unable to stop the hitch of her breath that accompanied her grief. "But I knew he cared about me to the end…" she said, wiping her tears away. "I think that just makes it even harder though." The priestess then removed herself gently from Eri's embrace. "I'll be okay guys. I have good friends like you to help me out." Kagome's striking blue eyes moved upwards and locked with Kurama's own, and she put on a brave smile. "Old friends and new ones."

Ehehhehe...hi guys? I'm so sorry about the loooooooooooong wait without an update... I kinda had a lot of trouble with this chapter and I still am not entirely sastified with this. And then I kinda just put it off and school happened and now I'm studying abroad in Japan (what). It's been encouraging to see people still favoriting and following so I wanted to get another chapter out.

But yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah. Hope you guys like this
