Blue. A nice colour. Not one I thought about until recently, But I guess I've always liked it. The sky, in flowers, Yato's eyes… I shake my head suddenly, blushing. Where did the last one come from? Though, I have to admit, his eyes do have a lovely colour.
SMACK! I bang my head against the table, hoping it will send those thoughts flying out of my head, never to be seen again.
"Hiyori… Are you okay?" Yukine's voice brings me back to the real world.
"Eh-Ehhh?" I blush even brighter than before, attempting to appear normal.
"E-e-e-everything's f-fine, why wouldn't it be?" Ah, I'm an idiot, that doesn't sound normal at all. Now I seem suspicious!
"It's just you were acting a bit strange then…" Yukine looks worried, but also slightly scared.
"I just.. Ah, I-"
"Yo!" Yato appears as I try to reply to Yukine, causing me to squeal and blush even brighter. Suddenly, I feel an arm around my shoulders, making me tense up, as my face glows with embarrassment.
"What's up, Hiyori?" Yato's face appears beside mine, grinning like a cat.
"N-nothing! Get off of me already!" In my panic, I flip Yato over my shoulder, watching his face change from his cocky grin to a look of terror as he slams to the ground. Meanwhile, my face is a mixture of embarrassment and dismay.
"Ouuuch, Hiyoriii, why're you so mean to me." Yato sits up, pouting and rubbing the back of his head.
"Hmph." I cross my arms and turn my head to the side.
"Anyway, I need your help with a job. Yukine can stay here and study."
"Ahh, fine." I see Yukine doing a victory dance behind Yato. I chuckle as I leave the room with Yato.
"What do you need me for anyway?" It's rare for Yato to ask for my help with a job. Especially considering he still hasn't completed mine yet.
"Oh, it's just a minor job. I don't want to do it by myself, but Yukine is getting tired of these. We just have to mind an ice cream shop for a bit. It should be quiet, nobody buys ice cream in winter after all." I nod. Maybe I could get some free ice cream…
As Yato said, the shop is quiet. At least we don't have to do much. Like I'd hoped, I have free ice cream too. There is silence as Yato and I finish the last of our cones. I don't like the silence. It's awkward.
"Hey, Yato… Remember when you first took Yukine and I to meet Kofuku, and you told us she was your girlfriend? I mean, obviously she isn't, but I'm curious… Do you… Do you have anybody like that?" Why am I asking this? Why am I interested? Why is my heart beating faster as I wait for the answer? Why do I want to know so badly? Where did this come from?
Yato seems taken aback by my sudden question. I guess that makes two of us.
"I don't really know… I guess there might be somebody…" He seems confused, and he doesn't seem to know how to answer.
Then suddenly, he disappears for a second, before appearing again in front of me. I back against the wall, surprised, but he follows, leaning over me, with one arm to support him against the wall. He leans in closer, his face inches from mine. His eyes are so clear from here, so blue, like the sky. I begin to blush, still staring into his eyes, which seem to be getting bluer and bluer. I swallow, only for Yato to lean in closer. Moving my gaze away from his eyes, I notice a blush on his cheeks too. My eyes flit back to his, as they seem to be getting closer. I close my eyes, unsure about what to do, what to think, I just know that I can't look into his eyes any longer. I can smell him, that nice smell that is so familiar to me. My knees are getting weak, when suddenly, it disappears. I open my eyes, to see Yato on the other side of the shop, laughing. I feel my face heat up, as I blush, yet again.
"Yatooo, you IDIOOOOT!" I leap across the room, and land an uppercut to Yato's chin, sending him flying, as my blush deepens.
