A/N: This is my other thought for Cap's date at the end of Winter Soldier.

I've Got a Date

"Hey, Steve, want to go out for pizza? Or maybe some shawarma?" Natasha Romanoff asked. She and Sam Wilson stood together waiting for the Super Soldier's answer. They were all tired and hungry after the battle.

"I can't. I have a date," Steve answered. As he waved and walked away, he heard Sam say, "Shawarma? Wait, are you talking about the Shawarma Palace? The place with the big sign that says 'The Avengers eat here'? You mean that's true?"

Natasha was only half-listening. She smiled when she saw Steve turn into a florist's shop. She was glad that he was coming out of his melancholy.

She might have been less happy if she'd seen him later, dressed in his best suit, walking up to a nursing home carrying a bouquet of pink and white roses.

"Peggy," he greeted the elderly woman in the hospital bed.

She smiled. "Steven. You're late."

"It took awhile to get a ride," he answered. "But better late than never."

A/N: According to one website, a 20th anniversary bouquet with pink and white roses means: "I love you still and always will."
