Matt held Gabby close as they finally finished the last of the paperwork at the District. Claires mother was headed to a psychiatric hospital to be evaluated. Gabby had decided not to press charges against Dottie after hearing that she was committing herself to Chicago Med to get help for everything that had happened with Claire and Danny.

Matt whispered in Gabby's ear as she leaned into his arms for a close hug. "I am so glad you are ok."

Gabby sighed and replied, "Me too but we should be married by now not in a police precinct."

Matt pulled back from the hug and looked into Gabby's eyes, "Hey we will be married soon I promise that nothing is going to keep us apart."

Tears well up in Gabby's eyes as she replied, "I know but I just wanted today to be perfect. The day was started out so perfect. Then her voice lowered as the events of the day caught up to her.

Matt reached up with his thumb and brushed away the tear and kissed her forehead.

Then Matt replied to her, "Why don't we still get married today?"

Gabby looked wide-eyed at Matt's suggestion and asked, "Really? I mean do you think we could still get married today?"

Matt replied with a wide grin and blue eyes shining, "Why not? I don't care how or where we get married as long as we are married? Just say the word and we can get married right now. Do you care that we won't be married in a church? We could always do another ceremony with friends and family later. I just want you to be my wife Gabby."

Gabby grinned and laughed out loud, "Yes I will marry you right now. But who will we get to do the ceremony I mean it is late on a Saturday afternoon. "

Matt shrugged, "I know Mouch has a license to marry people. He said he got some kind of tax credit for being a minister. We could have him perform the ceremony. Or maybe Chaplain Orlovsky maybe?"

Gabby burst out laughing at the thought of Mouch performing the ceremony, "What the heck? Why not have Mouch perform the ceremony? Nothing else is going to be the way we planned. But what am I going to wear since my dress is back at the church and is locked up for the night? What about the guests? Are we seriously going to do this?"

Casey saw Shay and Severide walking over to check on them. Casey started by grinning and saying, "We need your help in getting married today? What do you say guys?"

Shay squealed and grabbed Gabby's hand and started dragging her away, "Ok let's girl. This is your day. I will call Cindy and we can get to planning.

Matt looked on with mock shock while Kelly clapped him on the back and stated, "Congratulations, man. It looks like we have some phone calls to make." Two hours later 51 was gathered at Molly's for the impromptu wedding. Matt was in his dress blues fidgeting nervously with Kelly and Antonio standing beside him. On the other side Laura and Shay were standing looking toward the back of Molly's where Gabby had been cloistered for the last 10 minutes as the last finishing touches were given to Molly 's bar. Little bouquets of wild flowers and candles were sitting around the bar. Everyone at 51 had chipped in to make the wedding happen.

All of a sudden the music started and the door opened of the back office opened up and Gabby and her father started walking down thea isle. Matt took a deep breath as he saw Gabby walking toward him in an ivory dress that she had originally intended on wearing at their reception. She held a small bouquet of yellow roses and her hair was coiled to the side in soft curls. Her smile was brilliant and small tears could be seen in the corners of her eyes as her dad Ramone escorted her toward matt. However, the tears Gabby shed were happy tears after so many sad ones in the last few months.

Mouch cleared his throat and looked like he was about to throw up as Gabby stood by Matt's side. Mouch cleared his throat and spoke in a cracking voice, "Dearly beloved we are gathered today to witness the marriage of Dawson and Casey. No I mean Dawson and Matt. Um I mean Gabriella and Matt in unholy matrimony. Damn it, holy matrimony. "Mouch turned red as 51 laughed softly at the fumbling attempt at a speech.

Gabby reached out to Mouch and spoke up, "Its ok Mouch, We have our own vows so if its ok can I go first in reading my vows?

A grateful Mouch nodded as Gabbys had moved to take Matt's hand as she began speaking, "Today I am marrying my best friend. I feel so grateful to be standing before all of you who have shown your love and support for us today. Matt I promise that I will love you with all of my heart. I promise to be with you in the struggles and the hardships. And even when I know that sometimes I go all Gabby, as Antonio would say I thank you for being patient with me. I look forward to many years with love and laughter. I want to build a life and a family with you. I am so blessed and look forward sharing the next 50 years. Please come and share our adventure together. I think I loved you from the first time I met you. My love for you grows daily. You are my partner and my best friend. I love you." Gabby finished as she let out a sigh of relief that her dream was coming true.

Mouch looked toward Casey who grinned before beginning his vows. "The last few months have made me realize just how important you are to me. We have been through so much but here we are today. Gabby, you are the most amazing woman I know and I am lucky to call you my wife after today. I want you to know that I promise to always lift you up in good times and bad. I have always wanted a family and today I get to start this amazing life with my best friend in life. I love you Gabby. Matt's voice got husky and quiet as he squeezed Gabby's hand.

Mouch cleared his throat and finalized the ceremony with a final declaration of Gabby and Matt being husband and wife and invited them to kiss each other. Matt swept Gabby into a hug and kissed her deeply as everyone in Molly's cheered and sprung to their feet. Mouch declared amid the noise that he was presenting Matt and Gabby Casey. Music played loudly from Shay's phone "At last" by Etta James which seemed the most appropriate choice given all of the delays Gabby and Matt had experienced to the altar.

It didn't take long for everyone to begin to relax and celebrate the wedding. All over Molly's 51 was celebrating with the Casey and Dawson nuclear families was well. Before long Chief stood up to make and impromptu toast while the rest of the crowd stopped talking and began to pay attention to the speech, "Matt and Gabby I want to celebrate your wedding today with a toast. In our business we see sadness every day it is just the nature of our business. So when we find happiness like you have found at each other it is an occasion to rejoice. So today friends and family lift our glasses to you to celebrate your love and dedication for each other. May your life together be rich through all of the good times and hardships. To Matt and Gabby from 51 to you. Congratulations.

Shay was next to toast the happy couple, "Matt I will never forgive you for stealing my girl. Gabby be happy and fierce as always. Oh and I won't miss seeing you two pine over each other in the house. Now let's get his party started.

Kelly also toasted Casey and Dawson, "Ok guys, I am not much of a toaster but I just want to say congratulations to the two of you. And that I hope that I am lucky enough to find happiness like you guys did. But in the meantime Casey if you have a little black book you can give it to me since you go the girl of your dreams.

The toasts lasted another few minutes before Gabby and Matt stood up to take the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. "At last" began to play again as Matt and Gabby danced slowly while the crowd disappeared into the background. They held each other closely as music filled the air. Both of them realized that second chances were rare in life but God had granted them an amazing 2nd chance. Gabby leaned into Matt's shoulder and whispered, " I love you Matt Casey." Matt lifted his snuggled head and kissed Gabby softly on the lips as they swayed to the music. After they parted from the kiss Matt said softly, "Mrs. Casey can we get out of here and go to our hotel?"

Gabby laughed lowly and asked, "Why Mister Casey are you propositioning me?"

Matt's look changed from playful to seductive as he leaned in to kiss her one more time. It was not a casual but a very passionate kiss that took Gabby's breath away. It was late but Matt and Gabby knew they would get little sleep tonight. They both were ready to put the long days behind them from all of the stress and noise. Tonight would be about them coming together as husband and wife after a very long journey back to each other.

After a few minutes of goodbyes Matt and Gabby left to go the hotel room that had been rented by the members of 51 since the couple had missed their original flight to their honeymoon. Matt swept Gabby off of her feet and carried her over the threshold of the hotel room. They both laughed as Matt headed to the bed with no hesitation.

Gabby squealed in protest., "Matt wait I was going to change and freshen up. Just give me 5 minutes."

Matt looked at her and answered back with a quick, "Nope you are beautiful and I am not waiting any longer. He lowered his head and kissed her as she was plopped onto the bed. He kicked off his shoes and stopped to take off Gabby's shoes too.

Gabby then said self consciously, "My prosthetic leg, I mean. I need to take it off.

Matt gently replied. " I will help you please let me. Just know that you are beautiful to me. Don't be self conscious tonight. I love you and there is no other place I would rather be than here. Baby I love you."

Gabby looked up and nodded with eyes full of love and promise. Before long the hotel room was filled with nothing but the sounds of Matt and Gabby declaring their love and devotion to each other that lasted long into the morning hours. Matt held Gabby in his arms as they slowly drifted off to sleep in each others arms. Both of them were happy and exhausted as they drifted off in contented sleep
