The flower

"Now let's see what I will need for the potion" Andreas heard her say.
As their eyes landed on the fifth page of the book, Demetra gasped softly, while Andreas' eyes widened in disbelief.
"How in the hell are we going to find this ingredient?!" Andreas said aloud.
Approximately three hours later, Demetra and Andreas stepped out of the bus and walked into the forest. After a ten-minute hike, they reached a crossroad.
"Which way?" she asked, her green eyes locked onto his.
In response, he checked the map on his phone again, and pointed to the left." I think it's this way" he replied.
It was getting cold, so it's a good thing Demetra was wearing a thick coat. And yet she still shivered, and Andreas noticed it." Do you need my coat?" he asked, as they walked further.
She smiled at him, and shook her head." No, I'm fine... and BTW I assume you need it too." she pointed out.
"That's true"
If someone would've told her a week ago that right now she would peacefully be walking beside a 'Phoenix' and even help them to break the Niarxos' family curse, Demetra would've laughed in their face.
NEVER in a million years would she have thought that she would help those 'savages'.
They've been hunting her ancestors for decades, and were responsible for her mom and sisters leaving the country to seek refuge elsewhere.
'If my mom knew what I was doing right now, she would be so disappointed in me' were the words that swirled around in her head, while a gnawing pain shot through her heart and soul.
"I know what you must be thinking" she heard her companion say, taking her out of her thoughts.
Demetra locked eyes with him, and said." Excuse me?"
"I know what you must think" Andreas said, and placed a hand on her upper arm, attempting to comfort her." You probably feel bad thinking that you're betraying your mother and sisters?"
She nodded, broke eye contact and stopped in her tracks. As tears welled up in her eyes, he placed both his hands on her upper arms, and said." I feel the same." he confessed." I disobeyed a direct order from my leader... if he and Mr. Grey find out that I'm working with..."
He paused, and tried to use the correct term, but Demetra finished the sentence for him." a WITCH... that you're working with me; a witch..."
Andreas saw the pain in her eyes, and shook his head." If they knew that I broke the code, that I betrayed them, cause of course the other Phoenixes will see this as betrayal, I'm done." he explained." First, they will punish me. Then they will strip me from my family's wealth, humiliate me and then finally they will banish me from Tinos"
Demetra saw and even felt his pain, as he spoke, and gave him an emphatic look.
Then he continued." But I don't give a shit about the consequences... all I care about is to..."
"Help Ana and Christian" she said, finishing his sentence once again.
As those words left her lips, Demetra felt the guilty feeling towards her mom and ancestors ebbing away, and from that moment on she walked with huge strides towards their destination.
After walking for half an hour, Demetra and Andreas finally reached the path that will lead to the open field.
"We're almost there" she said, and smiled from ear to ear.
"Yes" she heard Andreas say, and that's when he walked with huge strides towards the flower field.
"Mr. Liakos, wait!" she said, but Andreas was in too much of a hurry to get his hands on the last ingredient for the potion, and didn't even look back." Wait! Some of the flowers are poisonous"
As she said the last words, she saw that Andreas had reached the flower field, and touched one of the flowers.
"DON'T TOUCH IT!" She shouted, but when she finally reached him, his smile disappeared, his eyes wide.
It happened so fast... one second he was standing and the next moment, Andreas sank against Demetra, and so she instinctively wrapped her arms around him, attempting to keep him up.
"What is happening to me?" he managed to say, while tears pooled in his eyes, the pain unbearable.
"You touched a poisonous flower, Andreas" she replied, while tears rolled down her rosy cheeks." What should I do? You need medical assistance now... if you don't get it ASAP, you WILL... die"
"First, lay me down, and then go search for the flower... pick as many as you can" Andreas said, his breathing becoming difficult.
She shook her head furiously." NO... we need to get you help right now"
"Demetra, please do as I say..." he whispered, and grabbed his phone." I will call Parthenios and ask for help..."
"But, you..." she started, but Andreas cut her off.
"Do as I say, please... I know what I'm doing"
At hearing that, Demetra huffed aloud and yet did as he instructed.
While she searched the whole flower field, Andreas dialed his leader's number.
"Mr. Niarxos, I need your help..." he said into the phone, while he felt himself slipping away.
"Where are you, ANDREAS?!" he heard Parthenios say from the other side of the line." You are in big trouble, don't you know that?! What the FUCK are you doing with that witch?!"
Andreas sucked in deep breaths, and knew that he was busted. He was no match for his leader... and knew that Parthenios would eventually find out that he had betrayed them.
As his eyes fluttered shut, he noticed someone grabbing the phone from him." You are the leader of the Phoenixes, right?" he heard Demetra say, as she placed his head gently on the side." I am Demetra Marinos, and I'm begging you sir, can you PLEASE send for help? Mr. Liakos needs medical assistance..."
Without a thought, Parthenios replied." I'll send a helicopter right away, but first tell me where you two are..."
.
It was late at night, when Ana woke up with a start. She had a feeling that something wasn't right. With her left hand, she automatically searched for that familiar warm body next to her. And when she didn't find him, she switched on the night lamp on her side of the bed. Where could he be?
In the bathroom maybe?
"Christian, sweetie?" she called out to him, and got out of bed, when he didn't respond.
No, no Christian in here...
"What could he be doing so late?" Ana muttered under breath, her eyebrows scrunched together." What time was it anyway?"
She threw a glance at the clock, and saw that it was almost 2 AM.
'Where are you?' she wondered, and decided to look for him in the library.
Ana grabbed a second dress, because it could get cold in the mansion. As she walked up the stairs in the direction of the library, her heart began to pound inside her chest.
Something's wrong...
And as her eyes landed on the three men guarding the door to the library, she felt a chill go through her spine.
Something's MOST definitely wrong! As she walked closer, Ana noticed a young gorgeous woman sitting in one of the chairs, being guarded by one of Christian's men.
She seemed on edge, and nervously brushed a raven lock from her face." Can I go inside? Ana asked one of the guards, when she had reached the library.
He shook his head, and it was then, when the beauty with the green eyes looked at Ana, her mouth falling slightly open.
"You are Agathe... you've returned to Tinos to break the curse..." she whispered, and that's when Ana locked eyes with the young woman.
"Sappheire" Ana said without a thought.
Demetra got up from her seat, and shook her head." No, I'm not her..." she uttered, while tears pooled in her green eyes." My name is Demetra Marinos... I'm a descendant of Sappheire, and I'm here to help you break the curse..."
"Sit down!" one of the guards ordered, and pushed her back on the chair, making Ana furious!
"Leave her alone!" she shouted, and in a flash stood all in the guard's face." I wanna see Christian NOW!"
Meanwhile, in the library, Andreas was being interrogated by the leader of the Phoenixes.
Parthenios wasn't healed one hundred percent, but he was able. While towering over Andreas, he said." Why the FUCK did you disobey my orders?"
His voice thundered over the library, making Andreas' skin crawl." TELL ME"
Christian was in the room too, and was impatiently sitting in a chair. "Why the hell did you keep the second key from me?!" Christian asked, and got up.
It was then, when Andreas spilled his guts. He told them everything...
As he heard Andreas' explanation, and had to process all that the young man had told them, Christian sat motionless in his seat, his eyes fixed on the wall.
"You can't be serious?!" Parthenios shouted.
Andreas huffed, and glared at his leader." I made a photo of it. You can check the book yourself if you want"
"Where's the proof?" Parthenios demanded.
"It's on my phone... like I said before, I made a photo of that page." Andreas replied." Go on... check my phone"
After Parthenios grabbed the phone from the table, and saw the photo, his face instantly turned pale." Th- this can't be right..." he said and handed the phone over to Christian.
As he read it, Christian shook his head slowly." No, my grandmother would NOT keep this from me" he uttered, while feeling an excruciating pain shoot through his heart." She would never betray me like this..."
"Read it again" Andreas said." READ IT ALOUD..."
With trembling fingers, Christian looked at the photo and read." 'Agathe will return, and she will break the curse. Nothing or no one will be able to prevent that, because it is her destiny... and she will do it by sacrificing her own life'
"Why would my grandmother keep this from me?" were the words that left Christian's lips, while still in shock.
"Because she loved you..." he heard someone say.
It was then, when all three men looked at the doorway.
They looked at Ana and the young woman who had spoke just now...
"Baby, what are you doing up so late?" he said, while attempting to act like nothing's wrong, and barely looking at Demetra." Go get some rest. Please?"
"Why am I not being included in all of this?" Ana asked, and gave the three men a questioning look; first Christian, then Parthenios and lastly Andreas." And why is Mr. Liakos being cuffed like he's some kind of criminal?! He and Miss Marinos are on OUR side, right?!"
At this point she had reached Christian, and towered over him, because he was still in his seat.
"Christian?!" she demanded, and glared at him." No secrets, remember. You promised..."
In response, he let out a deep breath, got up from his seat, and then grabbed Ana by her hands. He was just about to explain everything to her, when from a far they all heard guns being fired.
"What the hell?" Christian shouted, and looked at Parthenios, and then his eyes landed on Andreas.
"Adon Papadakis..." was the name that left Andreas' lips, his eyes wide.
He barely said those words, when all of a sudden it became pitch black in the whole mansion.
"Fuck"
