Kikuchiyo just couldn't stop staring at his partner, even after taking his seat in the first day of class. She was still fully clad in her boxy mecha-like armor, and was wearing the academy's uniform over it. Skirt and all.
"How and why?"
Tomoko just answered by pointing her middle finger to the sky without even looking at him.
"Classy. But you know what?" He retaliated in kind with both of his hands.
She responded with not only her other finger, but a comical-looking robotic arm came out of her back and gave him the finger as well.
"What the-how!?" He tried to emulate the gesture with the feathers on his wings, but found it both physically impossible and bothersome to the other students sitting around them. "Okay, fine. You win this round...But seriously, how and why is there a uniform set to fit that armor?"
The chatter among the students ceased immediately with a loud scrapping sound. A middle-aged woman dragged a blade across the wall as she made her way to the podium. Her blonde hair was covered in a black bandanna with a crossbones-emblem on it. There was a small Nevermore perched onto the shoulder of her long trench-coat. It looked as if it's feet were sewn into it. The Grimm would even flap it's wings as if trying to escape. As she took center stage to face the students, she revealed a cybernetic left eye that scanned the classroom. What poked out of her left sleeve wasn't a hand, but a harpoon tip.
"Okay," she said out loud, "My job isn't to sugar-coat anything. So I'm going to tell you straight up. You are all going to die. Some of you will die of old age. Some of you will get sick. Some of you may be so fucking stupid, you will die here in training. My job is to ensure that as few of you will die in the field as possible. I could care less how well you do after you leave the academy, as I collect my salary either way. But the more of you die out there, the worst I look. So don't fucking die!"
The class was silent. One student looked to a friend and whispered something. Almost instantly, they found the harpoon right above their head with a cable leading to the teacher's arm.
"Lesson one," she announced, "interrupt my class again and Scorpions there is gonna remind you how the pecking order goes!" She retracted her harpoon and continued, "Speaking of which, I'm gonna explain how it goes. I don't care from which walk of life you come from; rich, poor, human, faunus, here you are all equal...-ly worthless. At the bottom, there's you. Then there's the dirt. There's the worms inside the dirt. Silver's bird shits," she pointed to the Nevermore on her shoulder," Silver here, then me. Any questions?"
The classroom remained silent until one student raised her hand.
"U-um, your weapon?" she asked shaking with fear, "i-it's called Scorpions? L-l-like, plural? But it's just one harpoon shot?"
The professor sneered and fired her harpoon at the student. As it narrowly missed the top of her head, she fainted and slumped into the seat.
"Okay, all agreed, no messing the her, right?" Ishmael said to his team. "Right, Kurosawa?"
"Okay, yes." he answered, "We get it, that woman is scary beyond all reason."
"And what's with her eye?" Kotomi wondered. "I mean, you think she did it on purpose, or-"
Out of nowhere, a harpoon shot struck Tomoko's chasis. "It's rude to talk about others behind their backs." the professor said as she retracted Scorpions. "Now, you were saying what about my eye?"
"You just shot, er, stabbed my partner!" Kikuchiyo screamed.
"Oh, she'll be fine." she answered walking over to Tomoko. "Impact armor, not as good against piercing, sure. But this is still pretty thick. Hey, helmet-head, you okay in there?
There was no answer from Tomoko.
"Nod your head if you are."
The suit's helmet frantically moved back and forth as she nodded in panic.
"That's great," the professor said slapping Tomoko's helmet, "How the hell did they make a uniform in that size? Anyway," she returned her gaze to Kotomi. Her cyber-eye, usually glowing gold, had narrowed and gone red. The rest of the team noticed that it was also pointing a laser sight right on Kotomi's forehead.
"I-I..." she replied, her voice high with anxiety, "was just wondering how that happened. I-I mean, under one hand those are some impressive upgrades, on the other, why do that to yourself? You know, willingly?"
The professor gave an unsettling smile as her eye opened up and went back to it's usual golden glow. "You know, the thing is, my semblance is regeneration. Like, I can take a wall of bullets, and so long as nothing goes through my brain, I can heal in a minute. That'll give you some perspective on how this went." She pulled her left sleeve up and revealed an entire robotic arm with Scorpions in place of the hand. "Let's just say, I met a silver-eyed Huntress who I had a bit of an ethical disagreement with. Thought I could take her. Ha ha, I thought wrong." As she left, she said to her students, "If you ever meet a red-hooded bitch with a scythe, tell her that Nectar Hawkins is ready for a rematch. Any time, any where."
Just some filler while I work on my other story and procrastinate on this report I've got due. Idea came to me after watching the first episode of Volume 4. Also an excuse to use an OC from the other RWBY story I have that I have not updated in 2 years. Anyway, have fun with this one.
