Title: Worry
Rating: T
Summary: I watch an Australian show called Offspring and this is something that happened to the main character and I was like *le gasp* what if this happened with Shules!
Disclaimer: I don't own Psych or Offspring but if I did things would be different.

What do you want to see Shules do?

Sorry about the delay. Things have been crazy.

Juliet, 8 months pregnant, and her San Francisco partner Nathan spent most of the day canvassing a neighborhood to see if they could find out anything about their murder suspect. Being head detective, Juliet was able to ask the questions first and she liked it.

The partners, not having found out much, went back to the station to report to Chief Vick. On the drive back, Juliet had time to rest and reflect on their day. It was on the way back to the station that she realized she hadn't felt her baby kick in at least a few hours. She told herself it was probably nothing, they had been walking around most of the day and being 12:30, the baby was usually asleep.

They made their report to Karen and she thanked them.

"Juliet, would you stay back?"

"Sure," she replied. "Nathan, see if there is anyone else we can talk to."

Nathan left and Karen turned her attention back to Juliet who sat in one of the chairs in front of her desk. "Are you alright? You seem worried about something."

Karen had given Juliet a lot of advice during her pregnancy so she knew she would have some about this. "I haven't felt the baby move lately. I'm sure it's because she's sleeping and that I've been on my feet a lot today. But..."

"You're still worried," Karen nodded in understanding. She went into her desk drawer, pulled out a chocolate bar, and handed it to Juliet. "Your blood sugar might be low. That happened to me once."

"Thanks." Juliet opened the candy bar and took a bite.

"When is the last time you definitely felt her kick?"

Juliet thought back through the day while chewing the chocolate. "Definitely? Last night as I was trying to go to sleep."

Karen could tell that realization made her head detective worry more. "If you want to we can call Shawn and go to the hospital to check her out," she said in her calm voice.

Juliet took a slow deep breath to try to calm herself. "If it were you what would you do? I don't want to go if it's nothing."

"I would want to check it out just to be safe and if it's nothing then it's nothing. I'll go with you, I can tell Nathan it's something you and I need to check in to."

"Okay," Juliet nodded. She didn't want her partner knowing, Shawn had already talked to him about being more watchful and then Lassiter talked the Nathan. Between those two, her partner watched her like a hawk sometimes.

Karen called Shawn on the way to the hospital while Juliet finished the chocolate bar and tried, unsuccessfully, to not worry. Karen waited with Juliet in the exam room until Shawn got there and Juliet was extremely grateful to have a boss who was also a friend. The nurse took her vitals, a brief history, and recorded why she was there today.

Shawn rushed into the room. "Jules how are you, sweetheart?"

Karen told them she'd be in the waiting room and left them alone.

Seeing her husband and his worry increased her own and tears filled her eyes.

"Don't cry, Jules," he kissed her cheek. "I'm sure she's fine."

The doctor came in with a chart. "Good afternoon Mrs. Spencer. I'm Doctor Kelly Bowman, the attending OB. Sorry to keep you waiting; I was speaking with your regular obstetrician to get some background from her. I want to start with an ultrasound and go from there. Okay?"

"Okay," Juliet nodded, and pulled her shirt up over large belly before taking Shawn's hand again.

Dr. Bowman squirted some gel onto Juliet's stomach and pressed the ultrasound wand to her skin, focused on the screen in front of her. After a few seconds the sound of a fetal heartbeat filled the room and Juliet felt the stress leave her.

The doctor turned to them with a smile and pivoted the screen so they could see. "Your baby is doing just fine. She moved into a position that makes it harder to discern movement but she is good. When she changed position again you'll feel her moving."

Shawn let out a breath. "Thank you."

"Thank you, Dr. Bowman," Juliet smiled.

"My pleasure. I will let you get out of here and I'll send my notes over to your doctor so she has them for your file."

Juliet was discharged and she and Shawn found Karen in the waiting room.

"She decided to take after her father and be difficult," Juliet started, "by moving into a position that makes it hard to feel her movements."

Karen smiled, "I'm glad it was nothing serious."

"Us too!" Replied Shawn, running his hand over Juliet's lower back. "Thanks for your help."

"Anytime, Spencers! Juliet, go ahead and take the rest of the day."

"Are you sure?" Juliet asked, fixing the clip in her hair.

"I am. Go get some ice cream, relax."

"Eat some pineapple," supplied Shawn.

"That too. I will see you tomorrow, detective."

After picking up ice cream at the store, ordering a pizza, and going home Shawn and Juliet decided to have a movie marathon afternoon. Finished eating, they lounged on the couch; Shawn tucked into the corner of the oversized couch with Juliet settled between his legs, leaning back against his chest.

Juliet smiled to herself as Shawn rested his hand on her bump. It was an unconscious action for him she had realized a few months ago. She placed her hand on top of his. Feeling a kick to the left of their hands, she guided his hand over a few inches.

"Hey there, Starfish," replied Shawn when she kicked again and he felt it.

"Already making us worry and she isn't even born yet. She's definitely your kid," Juliet replied before turning her head to kiss his cheek.

"It's a Spencer gift."
