Summoner 101: Lesson 28

Humans and demons get along until these days, even if there are demon hunting and summoner killings recently.

He never expected the world to be so cruel.

He probably lived as long as his world did. No... the demon world probably existed before he did, because the reddening skies and dark air were there for as long as he could remember. Four other individuals were with him, playing with the crumbling soil that was supposed to be their landscape.

He and the others with him didn't need to eat. The dark air, which seemed to follow his command as long as he practiced controlling it, served to give him strength to live. No wonder it was decided to be called demon power.

And then that was when that child came. The small one was very different from all five of them. While they would have dark or brown hair and eyes, his were red and gold. Pure red hair framed that white skin, as his hair grew long past his height and his robes trailing on the ground.

It was like he didn't belong in that world.

The child was kind. He loved them like they were his children, and they loved him back. But that unusual ability of his was what caused everything to be plunged into chaos.

"Are you kidding me, Mibuchi?" Nebuya slammed his fist onto the table. It wasn't a surprise that it groaned and broke under his palms.

Mibuchi didn't flinch even as the table crumbled. It was made of the sturdiest of rocks, as Akashi, Mibuchi and the others expected that Nebuya's strength will just destroy every other furniture in the house they were staying in. But it seems that even that kind of rock will just crumble at Nebuya's anger.

Kotaro and Kiyoshi looked angry as well. But they looked calmer than Nebuya. Hanamiya definite looked like he didn't care as he sat looking out of the window, away from the other four. But it was he who spoke next.

"To seal his ability is to save him from pain..." Hanamiya slowly said.

Kiyoshi found his voice at that. "But to go as far as taking his eyes...!"

"Of course. They're the source of most of his power," Hanamiya said. He instantly knew what Mibichi wanted: to free their little companion of such a destructive ability. But in doing so, Mibuchi would have to use the very first spell taught to him. Hanamiya was frowning as he turned to Mibuchi. "You do know that we'll be betraying him when we seal his eyes, don't you?"

"Yes, I know—"

"Mibuchi-san!" a yell interrupted them. Banging on their door followed.

Kotaro opened the door to small demon who was almost out of breath.

"Akashi-san... A-Akashi-san has—!"

...

Killed.

Mibuchi couldn't believe what he saw at that moment. It was their little helper from the house, a young demon who would play with their little Sei-chan. Or so the other demons said. In truth, Mibuchi couldn't recognize the lump of darkening flesh that lay at his feet. It smoked dark power, as if slowly joining the dark air of demon power around them.

He immediately took Akashi away from the scene.

"I did not kill him..." Akashi gripped on Mibuchi's clothes. "He slipped and didn't get up... I was trying to help him—"

"Calm down, Sei-chan," Mibuchi said, holding on the small form on his arms. Even after so many years, that child was still a child. "Calm down, everything's going to be alright."

Yes, everything went alright for the following years. But peace didn't stay very long. After all, it was the era of chaos.

By now, Akashi Seijuro attained a body that was similar to a regular teen-aged human. His eyes were very much golden, his hair cut short so that less people would mistake him for a girl. On the other hand, the demons filled the demon world. There wasn't a ruling body; everyone was a community. Demons of the same abilities formed their own groups.

There had been meetings of who will govern the demon world. There were arguments. That was followed by attacks.

Mibuchi and the others panicked when they and Akashi were caught in one of those attacks. But what surprised them was when one raged demon dared attack Akashi, and while Akashi tried to fend of the attack, the demons around the red-haired one fell into darkened lumps of flesh.

Just like their little helper several years ago.

The attack was near the house they were living in. It killed few of the demons living in the same village they lived in, but it was Akashi who killed both the attackers and the attacked. Those attackers who escaped went to spread rumors.

There is a red-haired, golden-eyed Mad Demon.

'Stop—!'

'I won't destroy your world... I even created it...!'

But those words weren't heard. The demons who fought each other for the position to rule over the demon world came together to kill the Mad Demon that threatened to destroy their kind and, maybe, also their world.

That was the Crusade of Chaos, the group to protect their chaotic days. And then they met their demise in the hands of that very same Mad Demon that they wanted to kill.

Mibuchi felt those gold-eyes on him. He knew that the crusade had fallen. He knew that his four companions were losing.

'You do know that we'll be betraying him when we seal his eyes, don't you?'

Betray. Yes, he knew that. But he did it all the same.

'Seal.'

...

He felt pain all over him. But he also felt his eyes open.

Those golden eyes were staring at him. He blinked, shocked by what he saw. But he was mistaken. Those were a pair of red eyes on him.

There was also that familiar smile.

"Good morning." A red-haired red-eyed teenager was sitting beside the bed Mibuchi was lying on. "Don't be alarmed. I'm Akashi Seijuro, a summoner. I'm a student of this school... Teiko Gakuen. You're in one of the infirmaries of the school."

Mibuchi blinked. He didn't speak. He merely stared.

Those murderous hetero-chromatic eyes from before and these amiable red ones now — Akashi Seijuro did not recognize him. A feeling of guilt rose in Mibuchi. When he had thought that he had given the Origin a chance to exact his revenge...

Akashi continued to smile. He felt very similar to the little Sei-chan Mibuchi used to take care of.

"Who is your master?" Akashi asked. "We have to contact him."

Mibuchi almost smiled as he answered softly.

"You."

Akashi frowned slightly in confusion. But his and Mibuchi's attention were caught when the door of the infirmary opened. Kuroko, Midorima, Aomine, Murasakibara and Kise entered the room.

Kuroko proceeded to Akashi's side while the rest stayed by the door.

"So you're awake, Mibuchi-sama."

"Ah, yes, Kuroko-sama. Thank you for your concern," Mibuchi replied. "May I ask? How did I... survive?"

"Mayuzumi and I used the remaining in the cloud of raw demon power to heal your life-threatening injuries," Kuroko said. He glanced at the other Demon Elders who lay sleeping on other beds in the infirmary. "Same goes for the other Demon Elders. They're resting here in the infirmary as well."

Akashi looked at Mibuchi and then to Kuroko. "Oh, you two know each other?"

This question caused Mibuchi and Kuroko to freeze while Aomine, Kise, Midorima and Murasakibara turned to look sharply at Kuroko.

"I'm the demon king," Kuroko said after a moment's pause. "Mibuchi-sama is a Demon Elder... Demo Elders choose the demon king, so they are bound to know me, Akashi-kun."

Akashi smiled. "Oh, is that so... That's amazing, Tetsuya. I've always thought you're a very strong demon."

Kuroko blushed at his master's words. "Thank you, Akashi-kun."

The red haired looked around the room. "Where's Chihiro?"

"He's still resting, Akashi-sama," Midorima said.

Akashi looked down for a moment before he turned to Mibuchi. "Mibuchi-sama... Reo, right?"

The said Demon Elder nodded. "Yes,... Akashi-sama."

"About the business the other day,..." Akashi started. "I wasn't present in the school that time, but there is a cloud of demon power that caused havoc in the school. I met a Hanamiya Makoto-sama. Is he with you? Is Makoto a Demon Elder too?"

"Yes, Akashi-sama."

"Then what is your purpose of coming here in the human world?"

"To take the demon king back to the demon world, Akashi-sama."

Akashi almost flinched for the third time. He took a breath.

"Are you going to take Tetsuya?"

Mibuchi's eyebrows rose. It wasn't the question he was expecting.

He smiled. "Akashi-sama, we're—"

"Please don't call me Akashi-sama." Akashi interrupted him. He had flinched this time, the fourth time the strange demon called him with such honorifics. "It's feels weird, for some reason."

Mibuchi stared at Akashi. "Then... Sei-chan."

"What do you think you're calling Seijuro-sama? Huh?!" Aomine yelled and was about to charge at the other demon.

"We're not going to take Kuroko Tetsuya-sama back to the demon world," Mibuchi said, ignoring Aomine's outburst. "But..."

"But?" Akashi asked.

Mibuchi eyed the red-haired boy as the hand of the summoner instantly gripped Kuroko's wrist. "We asked you to release your summons upon Mayuzumi Chihiro-sama."

"So you're taking Chihiro?" Akashi sounded almost angry.

"The demon world needs its king, very much more right now," Mibuchi said. "After Kuroko-sama had fled from his duties as the king, Mayuzumi-sama, who was the king's challenger, will take his place."

"But—"

Mibuchi's breath hitched as he saw Akashi's frowning face and slight sign of a childish pout. He sighed. Even after a very long time, he still hadn't gotten used to that expression so he looked away as he spoke.

"Mayuzumi-sama can return here in the human world time and time again to visit you."

Akashi was still frowning. "I'll talk to Chihiro about this. What about Tetsuya?"

Mibuchi turned to Kuroko. "I guess he found something more important here in the human world."

"I'm staying here," Kuroko said firmly.

Akashi didn't look satisfied though as shown by the slight crease between his eyebrows. But Mibuchi flicked him on the forehead.

"What do you think you're doing to Seijuro-sama? Huh?!" Aomine yelled and was about to charge at the other demon again. And for a second time, he was ignored.

"Such expression won't make your face any cuter, Sei-chan~"

Akashi just raised an eyebrow at that. This was the first demon who called him with such a nickname, and he didn't really mind, for some reason. He watched as the Demon Elder turn his head towards the Demon King — former Demon King — and seemingly told the demon familiar something.

'Please take care of Sei-chan.'

- The second fanfic that I ever finished.
- And for some reason, it seems to be unfinished and crappy, and some parts are unclear. I'm not satisfied with the ending! Want a sequel? — A dangerous question. But I think there will be a sequel, if I got satisfied with the plot I'm making. :D

Forgive me for the... should I say, difficult ending. You guys are cool for sticking with me till the end, anyway. I've never thought this childish, cute, fluffy fic could turn so bloody in its last chapters. I never thought it'd reach 28 chapters either, so by the last few chapters, I'm running out of Summoner 101 lessons. XD

Akashi and Rakuzan are getting real cool in the manga recently~

Let's support Kuroko no Basuke/Kuroko's Basketball/The Basketball That Kuroko Plays, its anime, manga, owners and merchandise!

Thank you very much. See you next time!
