Sitting in his backyard, under the shade of tree, Gohan sat with Videl. They were relaxing and looking at the clouds after having done their homework together. It was a nice day out, so why not sit outside?
Getting bored, Gohan reached into his pocket, taking out a pebble he had found the other day. Looking it over, he thought it was nice. It wasn't chipped or anything. On the contrary, it was pretty smooth.
After thinking for a bit, he nervously handed it to Videl.
"Hm?" she said, taking it. "What's this?"
Gohan rubbed the back of his neck; heart beating a tad faster, "D-Did you know that male penguins will give a pebble to a female penguin when they want them to be their mate?" he stated, not answering her question.
She turned her head away from the pebble to him. "Oh really? I think I might've heard that before, actually."
"Yeah. At least it's something like that... I heard about that a few years ago, though, so I'm not sure if I'm exactly right. I think I also heard that it's myth, but again I'm not sure."
Looking away from her nervous friend (Why was he even nervous?), she looked back at the pebble. It was a strange thing to give her.
… Wait.
Her face grew pink as she put two and two together. He couldn't be asking her to be his mate (After all, they weren't even dating), but was he saying that he at least liked her? Or that it was at least in indication that he did? Why would he give this to her and then state that fact otherwise?
Smiling softly, she thanked him.
"... Mhmm."
Just a little thing I thought up. Crazy that I actually wanted to write it down, but I did. -w-
