Here it is, longest chapter so far! Thank you for getting this far and reading :)
September 15th, 1998
Dear Harry,
I was so happy to get your letter Harry, I've been missing you so much (SO MUCH!)! Attached is a list of the Quidditch game dates but McGonagall won't tell me the Hogsmeade weekends yet. Anyway, the first one's usually in October around Halloween, so plan on that.
The team's going well and has lots of energy pent-up after not having a team for the past year. From that same reason there is a crazy amount of pressure from everyone in Gryffindor. McGonagall's asked me about how we're doing several times and even showed up to a few practices (talk about pressure). Ritchie Coote and Jimmy Peakes are Beaters again. Both of them have gained some muscle and seem to be improving. Along with me, Demelza Robins and the 6th year William Wells are Chasers. I'm very pleased with us, we work well together. Demelza is good as always and Will is proving to be very fast. Only thing is Will suffers from acute Percy-like Syndrome. He's obsessed with being a Prefect and pretty much only talks about two things: getting good marks and trying to be Head Boy. Ugh, practically twins. I wouldn't like to be in a room with both of them. Lachlan Anderson is the new Keeper and he's a bit rusty, but rapidly improving. Last but not least is the new Seeker, the 4th year Azarie Sentin. Anyone looks bad after you Seeking, but she's proving herself talented. It's not quite our dream team that won us the Cup (oh I remember that day), but I think we have a good shot. The next best team looks to be Ravenclaw and our first match is against them, so I'm working everyone hard. We're practicing on Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as having strategy meetings every Sunday night. I would love for you to come to a match!
But most exciting of all, Madam Hooch thinks I could make it in to the league! Slughorn heard and invited Gwenog Jones to our first game! She's coming! To watch me! It makes me even more nervous but I am excited.
Ooohh I want to meet Teddy! Mum sent me a few photos of him, she was visiting Andromeda. He's the cutest little thing. She also mentioned you and Ron were coming home for the weekend and Teddy would stay with you. I wish I could be there!
Back to you: Harry, Harry, Harry and your endless nobility and bravery and quest for adventure. It's quite endearing actually, but you might want to just let yourself relax and enjoy the Academy. You deserve a break from fighting Dark Wizards if anyone deserves a break ever. Your time will come. Glad to hear you're still quite the Gryffindor Lion.
It's so wonderful to be back at Hogwarts, even though I wish you were there. NEWT year is stressful though and I have loads of work. It's nice to have Hermione in my classes for once though, her notes are stellar, as you've already discovered, I'm sure.
The new Defence teacher is named Hilaria Hawkins. She seems nice enough but is a bit weird and distant. Well, I can't call any Professor weird after Professor Trelawney. Good so far, however.
Luna, Hermione, and I are continuing the DA. Even with a good Defence teacher and after Voldemort fell, it can't hurt. We figure it's always good to have powerful and brave students with extra training ready to fight because who knows, some Death Eaters could cause trouble again. They weren't all killed or caught in the Battle. This year, it's bigger than ever because people realized what Voldemort's prejudice can really do. And McGonagall knows and wholeheartedly approves.
Lately I've been missing you so much it hurts. Can you floo in to talk on Wednesday night at 11:30, once everyone's in bed? It's not quite the same as being able to spend a day together, but it's something. I don't know how long I can go without seeing you and have no idea how I made it through last year. I love you more than life itself. I love you Harry James, I really do. Keep in touch.
Yours with Love,
Ginny
Harry smiled. He loved hearing from Ginny, his Ginny. He laughed at her poke at Wells and Percy and could just imagine her saying that, ringing with laughter that would shake her toned body and lovely, womanly curves. He would love to have those curves right now, but at least he was the only one to have them, the only one to make love to her. He sat there in his bed, third in the long line of the dormitory, with the letter in hand just thinking about how lucky he was to have Ginny.
He thought longingly of her sweet voice, so familiar to him he had internally read the letter in it. He longed to run his fingers through her luscious hair and over her lovely curves. His mind rested on her raucous laugh that she had so often let out. He missed every part of her.
He loved her, he loved her but he had to get his mind off her before he collapsed.
Ron burst in at just the right moment. "'Mione just wrote me and she's still arguing with everything I say! I thought it would end when we got together."
Harry laughed, used to his friends squabbling and glad to know at least one thing hadn't changed. Some things never do.
"Well you are half of the problem mate."
"Bloody hell Harry, that's not helping."
"Girls are complicated and don't think I understand them. But Hermione makes sense. You open your mouth without thinking, say something stupid, and she gets mad. Or she says something a bit know-it-all and you just argue and make fun of her. Lay off her and start thinking a bit." Harry said. He was used to Ron not seeing the obvious when it came to their friend.
"But she's such a know-it-all!" retorted Ron, frustrated.
"And you love her for it."
Ron blushed scarlet red. "Blimey, I do." as if he had just realized i.t
Harry laughed because Ron was only recently coming to know what he'd known for years.
"And McGonagall's letting us visit her for her birthday this Saturday!" Ron said, bursting with excitement.
A giant smile grew on Harry's face. "That is fantastic! I've missed her so much so it will be nice to see her. And Ginny, too!" Harry was equally excited to see his best friend and girlfriend, but didn't want his girlfriend's brother to think he was too obsessed.
"It's bloody weird having you snog my sister," Harry thought he best not correct that they had in fact done more than just snogging. "But I know you and trust you, you're my best friend so if any bloke has to snog her, it's best you. 'Specially 'cause she's had a crush on you for I don't know, ages. Forever. So I'm happy for you two, I am."
"I'm extremely happy too. And thank you. Ginny, she's just, she's brilliant. And kind and funny and quite attractive."
"Nice skin, eh?" Ron said laughing, reminiscing back to their first conversation that Harry admitted his attraction to her.
"Damn right. But you can't forget Hermione."
"Hermione has," Ron took a deep breath, his eyes glazed in fantasy and mouth hung open in contemplation. "really nice skin."
Harry rang with laughter as a smile spread across Ron's freckled face. The latter quickly cast a Muffliato charm around them.
Ron looked at Harry triumphantly and then it burst out. "I would know, I would know," he said, grinning ear-to-ear.
Harry could tell what was coming as Ron continued. "We did it, Harry. It was bloody amazing. She's so, so…beautiful."
The first thing Hermione did after getting permission from Professor McGonagall to have the boys visit was rush to the Owlery to write them of the good news. The second thing was to find Ginny, who she trusted to be equally excited. After all, Ginny too had been separated from her love. One of her many brothers, too.
Hermione rushed to the Seventh Floor and said the password as fast as she could, swinging open the door, and dashing to find Ginny. She found her sitting down by the fire in the Common Room, writing an essay for Charms.
"Ginny! Professor McGonagall said yes! Ron and Harry are coming on Saturday! I'm so happy!"
Ginny was just about to respond when she heard a voice she despised beat her to it.
"Oh I'm so excited to see Harry! He's come back for me."
Romilda Vane stood there with a menacing smile.
"Ignore her, ignore her." whispered Hermione, the peacekeeper.
Ginny, however, was too feisty and proud for that. "Actually he's coming back for hmm, let me think, ME!"
"It's cute how you think he likes you." Said Romilda rudely.
"You. Know. Nothing. Because who do you think he writes to everyday? Who does he keep a picture of next to his bed? Who does he snog? Who does he say 'I love you' to? ME!"
Romilda's smiled faltered. "We'll see about that Ginny after I spend some time with him in a broom closet on Saturday. I hear they're quite cosy."
Ginny was done with this. She couldn't deal with this bullshit. Time after time, people and circumstances had torn her apart from Harry. But he was hers now and she was his and she loved him and she wouldn't let anyone come in the way.
She raised her wand to hex Romilda but after a moment's hesitation, brought it down. She was above her and wouldn't give her another reason to fight. With that, she stalked off singing "He loves me, he loves me" under her breath and heard Hermione let out a sigh of relief.
Wednesday night came and Ginny was not in a good mood. In fact, she was in a terrible mood. She hadn't had the best of days, even though she had Harry flooing to look forward to. It had started off when she slept in and missed breakfast, shoving down just half a piece of toast before class and it had all gone downhill from there. Once she got to Arithmancy, Professor Vector was in a particularly bad mood and gave the class a harsh quiz that even Hermione had doubts about before assigning a tremendously sized and complicated load of homework. Later on in a Herbology greenhouse, one of Professor Sprout's not quite tame plants had stung Ginny on the arm for handling it to harshly. Once night fell and she got to the Quidditch pitch, was supposed to be her respite, William had criticized Demelza and her throw in practice. A seemingly small comment escalated in Demelza's tears and ensuing drama that the team looked to Ginny to mediate. On top of all that, it was her time of the month. Oh, what she would give for Felix Felicis.
Even Harry, who sometimes can be a bit daft when it came to girls, could feel her tension. He tried to battle it with a bit of humour, knowing Ginny normally would take any chance to poke fun at her older brothers. Today, however, he faced not the normal Ginny.
"So Bill got another earring, he was at the Burrow when we visited recently. Looks like dragon tooth this time, how must Charlie feel? His style's becoming more and more… unique."
Normally, Ginny would have laughed and added an insult. Humour was their medium. Not today though. Today she had so much pent up anger that she had to take out on someone.
"I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU HARRY! THOSE ARE MY BROTHERS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, MY BROTHERS! MY FAMILY HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT GOOD TO YOU EVEN THROUGH YOUR SECRETIVE SCHEMES THAT PUT US ALL IN A PANIC AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY US? BY MAKING FUN OF THEM? NOT COOL HARRY, NOT COOL."
And before he could get in a word, Ginny and her temper stalked up the stairs, leaving Harry confused and upset. Ron, who had been present for that part of the conversation, simply looked at Harry and said, "Girls are crazy mate and Ginny has learned a thing or two about screaming lectures from Mum."
Harry could not agree more.
Come Saturday, Ginny's time of the month had passed and she had calmed down a bit, but was still mad, especially because she had been facing a lot of pressure and stress. She felt a bit guilty, but her pride stood in the way of apologizing yet. She wanted him to. He had hurt her when she was already broken.
Determined to keep Hermione's birthday peaceful, she decided not to make a fuss. At 10 am, she and Hermione walked down to the front gates to greet their respective boyfriends and brothers (Harry was a brother to Hermione). Soon enough a man or boy or somewhere in between wearing jeans, a red jumper, and round black glasses over green eyes with tufts of unruly jet-black hair sticking up came in to sight. Harry. Her Harry. As he walked closer, her heart pumped faster and she felt her blood boil. She had missed him so much. She still, however, was mad. He, being chronically inexperienced in this matter had decided to give her time to cool off and hadn't written her. As she looked into those deep green eyes full of hope and then shifted her focus to his inviting lips, she didn't know whether she wanted to slap him or kiss him. Both, perhaps.
However, the mature voice within her kicked in and she decided instead to play it cold and focus her attention on her brother, running in to hug him.
Harry looked at Ginny with a funny expression, one that tried to convey I missed you and I love you and I'm sorry and are you mad at me and what's going on and just kiss me already. It was lost in translation.
"Hello Harry" Ginny said flatly and devoid of emotion, like one would greet an acquaintance they didn't know very well or was slightly annoyed by.
Harry looked and was puzzled. "Ginny! I missed you!" he said, trying to brighten the mood.
She returned his exclamation with a sulky glance, unseen by Ron and Hermione who were moving their lips rapidly
The morning passed tensely, with everyone expecting Harry and Ginny to explode or maybe just madly snog. However, their only communication were emotionless, blank requests and other practical matter such as "Pass the butter, Harry".
At around 2 in the afternoon, the sun was shining brightly and they were sitting outside by the glimmering lake, all conversing rapidly, although neither Harry nor Ginny talked directly to each other. Hermione was having none of it and decided to pull Ron out of the group on a walk for their own fun to force her fighting-but-much-in-love friends to resolve matters on their own.
They hadn't even had time for a word when Romilda swooped in, as if she was waiting behind the old oak tree for such a moment. Come to think of it, Ginny realized she probably was.
"Hiiii Harry," she said coquettishly.
"Hello Romilda" he replied in a similar tone to that which Ginny greeted him.
"Ginny dearest doesn't seem to be much in the mood so I was thinking we could have a bit of fun," she winked "of our own."
That did it for Ginny. Fighting or not, Harry was hers and only hers. Without much thinking she jumped up and ran towards Harry. She pressed her lips against hers and was flooded with sweet relief, she had been aching to do this all day. She had meant to give him a quick peck to shut Romilda up, but not everything goes as planned.
Harry returned the kiss enthusiastically and was quick to cup her face into his hands and pulled her onto his lap. Ginny's most primal instincts kicked in and it was without thinking that she ran her fingers of one hand through his messy hair and the other tugged at her shirt. Harry was preoccupied by kissing her intensely and opened his mouth to deepen the kiss.
Romilda stood there, bewildered and gaping and soon ran away in retreat. Neither Harry nor Ginny noticed nor even remembered who she was or what was going on. Everything: their struggles and fights and outside forces were lost in that kiss. They were in an oblivious bliss of aggressively trying to make up for missed time.
After a few minutes, they pulled apart, panting and out of breath, although Ginny comfortably remained on Harry's lap.
"I'm sorry," she blurted out, swallowing her pride as it was dominated by her heart "and I feel like a complete idiot and bitch. You were trying to cheer me up but I was in such a foul mood and so angry that I just released it on you."
"I accept your apology but I completely disagree. Never, ever call yourself either of those terrible words. We all get angry and snap at people, I do. You are brilliant and kind and funny and beautiful and just amazing. And I love you for it. I could go on and on. And you're attractive, too."
"I missed you so much," she murmured against his lips, dangerously close.
"I missed you"
"I love you"
He replied with a kiss and soon they had fallen on to the freshly cut grass, passionately snogging.
From across the lake, Hermione cheered and pointed them out to Ron.
"Well," said Ron " I don't fancy watching my sister snog my best mate, even if I'd rather it be him than anyone."
"I'll distract you," said Hermione's outspoken and slightly rebellious side that countered her goody-two-shoes persona, the same side she punched Draco with. This side has increasing prominence.
Soon, Harry and Ginny were not the only ones snogging around the lake.
Thank you for reading! I spend so much time writing this for you guys so I would really appreciate if you spent just a few seconds to tell me what you think by reviewing. Thanks!
