Working as a trainee healer was proving rather demanding for Lily. Having graduated from Hogwarts and getting on the training program at St Mungo's was a good thing but it was so time consuming and demanded a lot of energy that Lily and James hadn't even begun to plan their wedding yet. The hospital was so busy lately due to the increase in attacks on muggleborns that Lily could sense the fear of Voldemort's growing power.

It was during a busy morning working in the children's department when her supervisor told her to go and take her break. Sighing with relief, Lily took off her hat and overcoat and clocked out. She went down the corridor, intending on making her way to the canteen when she saw someone standing before her; someone that she hoped she'd never see again.

Holding a baby of three months of age was Jeremy. He looked at her through stunned eyes, clearly not expecting to have run into her. Lily felt surprised to see him with Daisy; after all, Georgia had been adamant about Jeremy having no contact with their daughter.

"Hi Lily, I didn't know you worked here."

"I'm surprised to see you taking responsibility."

Jeremy smiled and looked down at his daughter affectionately.

"Georgia's getting school supplies for next year and her dad was working and her mums gone with her, so she gave me the chance of having Daisy alone."

"Just don't play games when it comes to your daughter, she's the one girl who will love you and always be there."

"I never knew I could love another person as much as I love my little girl, she's made me realise how childish I've been up until now." Jeremy replied, turning his attention back to Lily.

"So what are you doing here?"

"Daisy needs her three month check and jabs."

Lily nodded and pointed down the corridor, "The children's department is that way."

"Thank you."

Lily went to move but Jeremy stood in her way, "Before you go, I just want to apologise, what I did to you was unforgivable."

she eyed him suspiciously, "You nearly ruined our lives Jeremy, including Georgia's."

"I know and it was wrong but I'm determined to change my ways, it will be a long process but I'm starting to get somewhere with Georgia. I'm having supervised visits on weekends with Georgia's parents since we graduated, I've even opened an account at Gringott's for Daisy when she goes to Hogwarts and I put regular money into it. I still live at home rent free so most of my wages goes into Daisy's future. Having a chance with my little girl is all I care about and I want to be someone who she can be proud of."

"If you truly mean that then let her be the one constant good thing in your life and if you are lucky enough to fall in love again, don't screw it up."

"Can you forgive me?"

Lily shrugged, "I'm only young and still trying to process what you did. For now I am focussing on my job and trying to plan my wedding."

Jeremy's eyes widened, "Your wedding?"

Lily nodded, "James and I are getting married."

Jeremy smiled, "Congratulations, I'm happy for you."

This shocked Lily a little, it was almost as if Jeremy was trying to be the person that he was before all the scheming and ruining people's lives. In a way she was glad, for Jeremy had been a good guy before she and James had their first kiss. Of course, he was also a bad guy but she admired his determination to change for his daughter's sake.

"I have to go, I only have a set amount of break time."

Jeremy nodded, "Good luck Lily, I hope Potter makes you happy."

"He does, happier than I thought possible."

"Take care of yourself Lily."

Lily gave him a parting wave and headed for the canteen, hoping that Jeremy had been true to his word that he was trying to change for the better. She knew that people were capable of change after all. Jeremy had changed from being the caring boy she had once dated to the villanous jerk that was thirsty for revenge. James had been a toe-rag who used to bully Snape for his own amusement but had changed into a mature young man that deflated his head a bit, the boy she had fallen in love with; she had discovered there was more to James than what met the eye.

She entered the staff room and was surprised to see James waiting for her, she kissed his cheek and pulled her lunchbag out of her locker.

"What are you doing here?"

"I have some news."

"Good news?"

James nodded, "Don't be mad but I wanted to suprise you."

"By doing what?"

"I set a date for the wedding."

Lily blinked and took a bite out of her cheese sandwich and swallowed hard. She was surprised that James would set a date for the wedding without consulting her first, they had both agreed to do the planning together.

"When for?"

"Twenty-third of December."

"Two days before Christmas?"

James grinned, "Nothing more romantic than getting married two days before Christmas."

"It's going to be cold."

"I'll let you wear my jacket."

Lily rolled her eyes as she finished her sandwich, she had grown used to James winning her round and this was one occasion where he had. She pictured it lightly snowing as they left the church as man and wife, their friends celebrating with them on their joyous day. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad, she knew that James would go out of his way to make the day as perfect as he possibly could.

"You win."

James beamed from ear to ear before kissing her lightly on the lips, "Four months until you become Mrs Potter."

"It'll take a while to get used to."

"Not to me, in my head you've always been Mrs Potter."

"That's kind of creepy."

"No, I think it's romantic."

"Of course you would, you practically stalked me for years before I agreed to date you."

"And part of that stalking was imaging scenarios where we were married."

Lily laughed amusingly, "I stand by what I said Potter, I'm not cleaning up your smelly socks."

"Lily, all I ask for is that we love each other forever, that we get married and be happy."

She nodded her agreement and kissed her boyfriend on the cheek. Lily had never known what she had been missing until she finally got with James properly and she had come to the conclusion that he had been right; what she had wanted was right at the end of her nose the whole time. James may have once been annoying and a show-off and sure he could still be annoying from time to time but she strongly believed what James believed; they belonged together.
