A/N: Okay this is it. The last chapter, I hope you enjoy.

Jane flew down the stairs back towards her cabin. "Shit, shit, shit!" She fumbled with the handle as the door flew open. She grabbed their backpacks and with as much speed as possible began to stuff them with clothes.

"Maura hurry!" Jane pleaded as her partner ran into the room passing her and heading straight for the bathroom. She emptied the draws of all their cosmetics into a small string bag before tossing it towards Jane.

"Honey, quick move, come on we have to go." She had her hand on the small of Maura's back pushing her ahead while the other grabbed both packs as she squeezed through the doorway.

"Maura, here take this." She handed her one of the packs, so she could affix her own to her back. Maura snatched it and took off in a sprint down the corridor towards the stairs, with Jane close behind her.

"Rizzoli, get ya arse up here!" Sean's voice boomed from above.

"Almost there." She shouted back, just as she ran into her mother leaving her quarters.

"Ma! Run." Jane yelled as she grabbed for her mother's arm almost dragging her up the stairs.

They burst through the doors and out onto the deck, squinting from the bright morning sun. The harbour was packed with all sorts of boats, especially where they had anchored. They were just on the boundary of where the racing yachts were moored at Rushcutters Bay, preparing themselves for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race that was due to start the next day.

Ian had just finishing lowering the large inflatable boat into the water that was to ferry them back to Darling Harbour. He signaled for them to climb down the ladder. Riley was the first to go to offer assistance for the others as they clambered down after her. The moved in silence, each with their own thoughts as to what could happen and wanting desperately to be far far away from where they were now.

"What's happening Sean, where's Doyle?" Ian enquired in a low voice.

"I don't know, he's not my problem. I have to get everybody off this boat before McFarlaine shows up."

Paddy sat on the floor, covered in blood, clutching his mobile phone. The phone he had used to warn the others that McFarlaine had fled and was on his way to the boat to kill them. The phone was smashed and beyond its use, the message he had sent them was wrong.

Gradually he pulled himself up off the floor, shaking his head that throbbed with pain. He'd been hit over the head while beating the daylights out of the last of airlaine's men. He was left behind on the yacht to deal with him, while McFairlaine had gone after the others. It was a trap that he didn't see coming. The smart bastard had drawn him away from the others and was now on his way to finish the job.

He cursed himself as he threw the phone, before ripping off his bloodied shirt. He stormed down below deck to the cabins in search of clean clothes and a basin to wash himself and rid the stench of death from his body.

He was so angry he had been fooled, McFarlaine had known all along their plans. He had no idea how he knew, obviously he could still monitor their communications. Another bug must have been planted by Jody and they missed it during their sweep. However it didn't matter anymore, as time was slipping away. He needed to stop him before he reached the others, as he remember no one but himself knew what he looked like.

The light inflatable was going flat out, heading towards Darling Harbour. From there they would catch a taxi to the airport and with luck on their side, board the private jet that should be waiting there. Constance had spent a good half hour finalizing their arrangements to get home without any problems occurring. The pilot was on standby, the jet fueled up and ready to go. The only thing missing were passengers.

The day was extremely hot, the sea spray welcome upon their skin as they rounded the final bouy. In the near distance they could see the wharf getting closer. Jane squeezed Maura's hand that she held in her lap, her mind focused on their escape. The doctor smiled at her weekly, rubbing the back of Jane's hand with her thumb. A simple and yet so meaningful gesture, that conveyed to Jane everything was alright and no words need to be spoken.

Christmas Day and the harbour was fairly quiet, except for tourists that strolled around the wharf. Most of the shops were closed up for the day, just a few restaurants stayed open for trade.

Ian pulled the inflatable alongside the wharf, while Frost jumped out to steady the craft as the others climbed out as well.

"Well you lot, you better get a move on." Ian said getting out himself. He quickly shook hands with Sean and Frost before briefly hugging Riley, Angela and Connie. He then moved towards Maura.

"Ian? What are you doing, you're coming with us." Maura said with confusion. Suddenly she was engulfed in a bear hug which knocked the wind out of her.

"You.." he said poking her in the chest "had better invite me to the wedding." His eye's softened as he gazed at the woman he also loved. "I'm staying here to tie up loose ends, then flying to London on business." He released his hold then moved towards Jane and opened his arms out wide with a stupid cocky grin on his face "Come here ya big lug!"

Jane slapped him on the chest chuckling before she hugged him fiercely. "Thank you Ian, thank you so much for everything." She whispered in his ear as a small silent tear ran down her cheek. She knew without his help they would be dead and the gravity of the situation was beginning to be felt.

"Jane, look after our girl won't you." he said with a wink "and make sure I get an invite."

"You will Ian...you'll be the first on the guest list. Now get going and be safe." She said pecking him on the cheek. Maura wrapped her arm around Jane's waist. "Bye Ian and thank you."

"It was my pleasure Maura, I had a good time." He laughed as he boarded the inflatable and waved his final goodbye, his smile still showing on his face as he spun the craft around and headed back towards his research vessel.

Paddy fidgeted as he sat in the back of the taxi. His head still throbbing while he stared out the window wishing the taxi would go faster.

"What terminal?" the cabbie asked, which was followed by silence.

"Hey mate, what flight terminal?" the cabbie looked in his visor at Paddy impatiently waiting for an answer.

"Oh um international...I guess."

"Whadya mean ya guess, are you going overseas or not?"

"Yes overseas in a private jet."

"Okey dokey, different drop off point." He steered the taxi up the ramp, past all the other international terminal drop off points, before pulling into a secluded area. There was no one in sight as he scanned his surroundings leaving an unsettling feeling in his gut.

He paid the cabbie and watched it leave, his adrenaline began to pump. He felt for his gun to ensure it was still there, his mind was now racing as he had no plan, his body tense and on full alert. He would just have to act on impulse and do what needed to be done. He pushed through the glass doors and saw before him a desk, with a sign above which read "Customs Security Clearance Station, which he noticed was unmanned.

Good...no fucking bastard here to stop me. mmmm where is everybody.

A twinge of panic came over him for just an instant before he calmed himself down. He turned in a circle, his eyes scanning the whole area. Something was wrong as he saw the doorway behind the check-in desk which led straight out to the tarmac. The doorway through customs was unguarded, not a security guard in sight.

Not good, no not good at all. Security, where the fuck is security.

There on the tarmac stood the jet, his heart rate immediately increased. "Fuck!" He could tell they were about to take off, the engines were beginning to rev.

"Wheels up in five. Everyone buckle up."

Jane sighed her head rested on the back of the seat. "We're going home everybody, thank God for that!"

"I'll second that!" Frost said chuckling, while the others groan with agreement.

"Jane, you sound like you didn't like my birthday present?"

"What?" Jane's eyes grew wide as she looked at Maura. She could tell she was beginning to pout.

Hahaha you have got to be kidding me, is she for real? Dam I should know better, of course she is!

Jane swallowed being careful of the words she chose. "Um sweetheart..." she looked around the plane, all eyes were upon her waiting for what could possibly come out of Jane's mouth next.

She smiled and reached for Maura's hand holding it gently. "Honey, I loved your present however, um well, um you know. Hmmm let me put it this way. I'm glad to be going home."

"You hated my present Jane, you just said you're glad to be going home. That is what you just said, is it not?"

Stifled laughs could be heard from the others. They could tell Maura was having a little fun with Jane, unfortunately the detective didn't see it. Jane squirmed in her seat and turned to face Maura fully.

"Maura, sweetheart. Please just think for a moment. Since we arrived in Sydney, we have been chased, shot at, we've disarmed a bomb, fought arm to arm combat with some sort of warrior amazon..."

Jane's ramblings were interrupted by one of the pilots as he emerged from the cockpit. His eyes making contact with hers, a glint of mischief in them so she thought, or could it have been desire.

"Jane!" Maura gasped quietly "what's wrong?"

"Huh?" the brunette said half listening, her eye's never leaving the Captain as he disappeared into the toilet.

"Jane, my hand, you're squeezing my hand." She withdrew her hand briefly before Jane's head snapped around to look at her. Her eyes darted from Maura to Connie in only a matter of seconds.

"mmmm not sure but...Connie psssst, hey Connie!"

Constance looked up from reading. "Yes Jane what is it?" she said raising an eyebrow.

"That pilot, the one in the toilet, do you know him?"

"Jane" she huffed "I don't know all the pilots that I have, but I do know the other pilot which is David."

"So you don't know that one?" Jane said pointing at the lavatory.

"No."

The door opened and Jane looked startled, trying hard to hide her surprise. The pilot walked towards them and smiled. "Won't be long now, be back in a moment." Jane stood and blocked his path.

"Excuse me please." He said as he touched Jane's arm to move her. Her mind was going haywire, his words swirling around in her mind, his touch send her hairs on end. She quietly shivered. She stumbled to the side and allowed him to pass, her mouth had gone dry as her eyes began to water, she swallowed hard and then she remembered.

None of the others even saw her draw her gun, she was so fast.

"Freeze!" she screamed, her hand held steady the gun that was trained on the back of his head.

"Rizzoli! What the hell?" Sean was out of his seat as were the rest of them.

"Hands on your head and turn around slowly, ya piece of shit!" Jane's voice was a low growl, her eyes ablaze with anger.

"Frost! Go check on the other pilot!" Cavanaugh ordered his detective.

"I said turn around! Don't make me ask you again."

He placed his hands on his head and slowly turned around. His face just stared blankly at her, before lowering his eyes to the gun. "I don't suppose I could ask what the problem is could I detective?"

"Well for starters have you been to Boston?"

"No I haven't. Umm may I please put my hands down now?"

"He's dead. The other pilot is dead!" Frost reported back to the others.

Riley drew her weapon and aimed it at his chest. "Got him too Jane, he's covered."

Jane smiled before her face once again reflected the hatred that burned in her gut.

He taunted her "So tell me how did you know? no one knows what I look like, well except for Doyle that is." He smirked his voice sounding so smug.

"Three simple words, 'excuse me please' confirmed it. Oh and of course how did you know I was a detective?" He looked puzzled for a moment then he himself remembered.

"Ahh The Dirty Robber." He chuckled.

"Yes The Dirty Robber. You were there at the bar, I was behind you. You said 'excuse me please'. Like I said….three little words, as simple as that." She motioned for Maura to get behind her and be as far away as possible from him. "You've been watching us haven't you, following us." She tilted her head to one side. "What I can't figure out is why wait? You could have killed us in Boston, so why?"

"Oh my dear dyke of a detective, where would the fun be in that. I wanted not only Doyle to suffer the loss of his daughter, but for her to suffer being chased. Hahah and what a fucking good chase it was! I just love hide and seek don't you?"

Cavanaugh moved in behind him placing handcuffs on him, then frisking his body for weapons. "He's clean." He said moving away from him.

Jane still had her weapon raised, her hand so still as her finger began to squeeze the trigger.

McFarlaine's eyes roam from her hand to her face. He smiled "You know this is not over, you may think it is, but it's not." He began to laugh. "Not all of my men came with me..so how's your brother?"

The cabin went quiet all of a sudden as his words sunk in before Angela lost control. "How dare you! If you hurt my baby boys..." She cried out in panic.

"Hurt him! I've fucking ordered his execution! You dumb bitch! If he's not dead yet, he will be soon!" His laughter was loud as the rear door swung open and he never heard Paddy enter.

"Even though you caught me, I can still order your brother's death. One word from me and he's dead." He chuckled. "So you see Jane I know you won't pull that trigger! You gutless shit!"

"You know you won't kill me, you don't have the guts!" he said puffing his chest out boasting.

"I don't need to cause he's gonna do it for me." Jane said in a very calm voice. He turned around to see Paddy standing there with a smirk on his face, a pistol in his hand.

"You know you were never good at lying Jimmy, that laugh of yours is a dead giveaway." With that said the gun explosion was massive in the confined space of the aircraft. McFarlaine's head snapped backwards followed by his whole body which flew through the air as the slug split his head open. Blood spray everywhere and hit those that were close. Jane was covered in it as she stood there not moving, her hand still clenched around the grip of her gun. Her mind trying to catch up with what had just happened before lowering her weapon and tossing it onto the seat.

She turned as Maura threw her arms around her and held on for dear life, her body shaking from fear. "Baby it's okay, I'm okay, Maur honey calm down, it's over baby."

Sean pushed pass the two women. "Paddy, Christ man! he was cuffed."

"Yeah I know, thanks for that it made it easier." He holstered his weapon and wiped his hands before offering his hand to Sean to shake.

Sean took hold shaking his head. "Shit...okay thanks Paddy, but still he was cuffed you didn't have to kill him."

"Yes he did Sir." Jane spoke up. "He has men everywhere and Maura would be a constant target. No, Paddy did have to kill him, there was no choice." Jane's jaw muscles twitched as she spoke, the anger still evident in her posture.

Angella was beside herself with worry. "My boys, what about Frankie and Tommy?"

Paddy turned his attention towards Angela noticing Connie holding her to comfort her new friend. "He was bluffing, he only mentioned Jane having one brother not two, plus he didn't even know Frankie's name. How can you order a hit on someone without names, believe me you can't."

He pulled out a handkerchief and began to wipe blood from his face. "All he knew was that Jane has a brother but he didn't know anything about him. He just said whatever he could to get his own way." Paddy turned around about to leave.

"Hey Doyle" Sean had his gun raised this time. Paddy froze not turning around, he knew what was about to happen.

Sean stood his ground giving orders. "Riley, contact the local authorities and tell them to get their arse down here. The lot of you then go to the international terminal and see what flights, if any, are available to get you all home. I don't care what flight, just book anything that will put you on US soil!"

"Sir!"

"Not now Jane! Look, I need to stay and wait for the police to show up and tie up loose ends. I can't leave now, not with this mess I have to stay and explain what's happened. You guys don't need to be here, so the lot of you get out of here and go home. I'll meet you all back in Boston now go!" They all stood in silence knowing he was right.

Sean's attention was now back on Paddy.

"I have to take you in Doyle, sorry but I have no choice. You need to go back to jail." He looked at the gun in his hand, his voice wavering as he spoke. He knew that without this man, they would all be dead and for that he was grateful, however by law he had to arrest him and take him back.

Paddy raised his hands out to his side before slowly reaching for his gun. He heard Sean behind him cock his weapon. He hesitated for just a second before continuing his movements and slowly pulling his own weapon out and tossing it on the ground.

"I'm going to leave now Sean, so you have two choices. First choice is, you can shoot me in the back, the second choice is to start counting to 100...then scream out.. 'Here I Come Ready or Not'!"

Jane and Maura without hesitation turned their backs and began to count. 1...2...3

A/N: Well that's it. I hope you enjoyed my story of Jane and Maura's little adventure. I'll be taking a break for a while to catch up on reading some fanfic myself. (for those that may be following my Xena story, of course I shall finish it before my break).

Next time I plan on having the whole story written before posting. That way I'll be consistent with posting a chapter each week. Once again I would like to thank those that stuck by me with words of encouragement. You guys know who you are. =-) Till next time stay safe. Cheers!
