Author's Note: New chapter, at last! I hope people are enjoying the rewrite, I think the quality has improved.

The battle for New York and Earth was long and dangerous, casualties everywhere and buildings left in ruins. The Avengers had fought hard but unfortunately not hard enough. They were broken and bound in the lounge of Stark Tower, all except Bruce who had been tranquilised and was passed out on the floor. They were all forced to their knees so that the awful alien fingers at their mouths to keep them silent. Probably so they couldn't interrupt Loki's victory speech. Despite being defeated, they wouldn't show weakness. They looked at each other, as if to say if it came to it, they would die but they'd die with their heads held high.

Loki then appeared before them in his battle armour, but his helmet soon disappeared, he wished for nothing to possibly obscure his vision from the sight before him. He was in a joyous mood; he looked like a kid on Christmas morning. Loki had won, he finally had a throne of his own and the Avengers at his mercy.

He approached them, they were all in a line on their knees. They looked defeated and Loki loved it. He couldn't remember the last time he had felt such happiness.

''Good day, Earth's mightiest heroes or should that now be...fallen heroes?'' He couldn't keep the amusement from his voice.

None of them said a word not they would have dared to at this moment anyway.

''Fear not, I shall be a terrific King, in fact the greatest this world has ever known. But unfortunately for you, you shall not see my reign as you shall all be disposed of. I cannot have you all trying to overthrow me now, can I?'' Loki smiled and the chitari guards then brought their blades to the throats of the heroes...

''NO!'' Loki shouted ''Not yet.'' The guards then drew back their weapons, the Avengers looking at each other with slight confusion.

Loki turned to some chitari behind him ''Fetch her.''

Lyra knew where she was, she was in Stark Tower locked in one of the storage rooms hands bound and mouth gagged. Though in all honesty if there wasn't a Stark Industries worker notice in there with her, then she would have no idea where she was. That nasty knock to the head had ensured that. Speaking of which, was still rather sore. If she hadn't gone in the wrong direction then maybe she wouldn't be in this position right now. But there was no use in thinking like that, as the fact of the matter was this was the position she was in.

The alien chitatri, at least that was what Lyra thought they were called, they freaked Lyra out. Not to mention the fact they sounded like that asian dish Tony had once got food poisoning from. They had the appearance of a prawn before its cooked, grey and squidgy looking, their eyes were small, their teeth were like stalactites that sat in their mouths and they also wore this gold alien amour in certain places on their body.

Yes, Lyra definitely didn't like them. When they showed up at storage cupboard prison, after she came to, they scared her to death when she saw them up close. To bound and gag her it meant their gross skin making contact her own. Just thinking back to the slimy texture made her shiver.

As if they knew she was thinking about them, Lyra heard the door slam open and somechitari burst in and roughly drag her to her feet. Lyra struggled against them but they were too strong, she was then dragged to the elevator and taken further up the tower.

When the door pinged open she thought she would see the Avengers standing victorious over Loki but instead she saw the opposite. She should have known really, if the Avenger's had won, then why would the chitari be the ones fetching her? Maybe it was because she still had hope but as she looked at the sight before her, that hope was slowly fading. Loki was stood proudly in his battle armour, his helmet discarded, allowing her to see every inch of the sinister joy on his face and behind him were the Avengers broken and beaten. He smiled directly at her before turning back on his heels to the more entertaining sight. The heroes were on their knees in a line with those aliens keeping them silent and ready to use their weapons on the Avengers at the click of Loki's fingers. Lyra then caught eye contact with Tony, she could tell he was trying to show he wasn't afraid but his eyes betrayed him. She saw real fear, something that Lyra had never seen in him and in turn it made her just as afraid.

The chitari made no move to bring her forward and waited obediently for Loki's orders. Lyra took this as an opportunity to struggle against her chitari captors but it was still no use, they were much stronger than her. They became agitated by her struggling, one of the was about to strike her.

''DON'T!'' Loki roared, startling everyone in the room. His head turning slightly to the side, his eyes not looking at the scene but he still knew what was going on ''Touch her and there will be consequences!'' He hissed.

Loki then motioned with his fingers for the chitari to bring Lyra over to him. They did so roughly, as she squirmed in their grasp. Deep down she knew it was pointless to fight but she didn't want to give up. It was the Stark mentality to not give up, Tony almost looked proud but he too knew her efforts were futile. The chitari carelessly threw her down to the floor at Loki's feet, she cried out in pain against the gag as he knees hit the floor hard. Lyra eyes brimmed with tears, she fell a little awkwardly and her knee caps were throbbing. Lyra had to throw her self onto her side to stop the painful pressure on her knees.

Catching sight of the awkward slump Lyra had fallen into, he snapped. Loki summoned his sceptre and in seconds he had plunged it into each of the aliens. They fell to the ground, Lyra had to shuffle her bound-self backwards out of the way in order to not be crushed by them. She hadn't realised the direction she had sought for safety was moving her closer to Loki.

Her eyes were fixed on the fallen alien's, quickly realising one wasn't dead when it began screeching in pain. The dying chitari reached out and grabbed Lyra by the ankle. Panicking, she tried to kick it away but it kept tight hold. She ended up shuffling awkwardly into the side of Loki's leg. He was now becoming tired of the scene so decided to step in. He moved away from Lyra and simply jabbed his staff back into the alien, this time ensuring the job was finished. The grip the chitari had on Lyra faded as the life slipped away from its body. Her eyes were so fixed on the scene, that she jumped when she felt fingers on the back of her head but settled when Lyra realised that she was finally free of the uncomfortable gag.

Her mouth became free, yet she wouldn't say a word, still horrified at what she had witnessed. Loki's hand went to her face, caressing her cheek tenderly. The action made her jump again and now she looked behind her to see the owner of the cool fingers stroking her cheek like it was glass. It was a gentle gesture, a complete opposite to the situation they were in. Yet she found herself unable to look away from his eyes, such a deep greenish blue. They held her gaze with great interest.

Loki cleared his throat, his hand falling away with a sudden movement, as if he remembered where he was ''Now that everyone is here and that rather unsightly matter has been taken care of, I can now proceed with disposing with you.'' Lyra's breath caught in her throat. They were all going to die.

Tony in a desperate panic to save his niece from whatever was coming bit down hard on the fingers of the alien keep his mouth guarded. The creature screeched in pain and Tony spat out what was a blue blood so dark it was almost black. ''You can't kill Lyra, she has done nothing wrong!'' Tony yelled pleading, as he spat the blood clean from his mouth.

Loki smirked ''Oh I know that Stark. I am not going to kill her, instead I'm going to make her watch all of you be killed.'' Tony looked at Lyra, she wasn't making a sound, but the tears streamed down her face.

''You sick bastard!'' Tony spat ''W-why would you do that?''

''Why not?'' Loki shrugged as then chuckled. He knew the real reason he was doing this of course.

He turned and summoned some brain washed S.H.I.E.L.D. agents over, that anyone had yet to notice ''Hold her back, she is rather feisty, and I do not want her getting in the way.''

The agents dragged Lyra back a little so that Loki could freely move about while he sentenced each hero to their death and making sure that Lyra had a perfect view.

Lyra was frozen with fear of what was about to happen, she wanted to fight but her body wouldn't. The tears still streamed endlessly.

Loki walked back and forth in front of the Avengers ''Now, who shall I dispose of first?'' He mused in mocked thought. None of the Avengers would give Loki the satisfaction of any kind of response, not even a look in his direction.

Loki stopped in front of Clint, his eyes cold as he eyed up the man who had been his servant. Loki titled his head in thought ''We will start simple.'' Loki began ''After all, what did you really contribute to this little team? You shall be my example ''Loki raised his hand and within an instant the chitari drew a long blade and cut cleanly through the point between Clint's shoulder and chest blood began to pour. Natasha's eyes were fixed on her friend, her eyes brimming with tears as she screamed against the chitari's hand that was keeping her silent.

Lyra wanted to scream but all sound was stuck in her throat.

Loki wondered in front of them slowly, deliberating who was next. He then stopped in front on Tony and sighed ''I think perhaps it should be you Stark. Save her the pain of knowing of your death is coming closer. We will make it quick and painless for her.'' Loki's tone was patronising.

The chitari guard behind Tony drew its blade and Loki then raised his hand asking for a moment.

''I will do the honours with this one.'' He said, taking the blade from the chitari. The alien exposed Tony's neck by yanking on his hair. Loki was about to draw the sharp blade of the tip across Tony's neck, when Lyra, as if on cue, did exactly what Loki had predicted she would.

''STOP! P-please stop!'' She sobbed, Loki never turned to face her, instead he spoke while he continued to hold his sceptre to Tony's throat.

''Why should I?'' He asked, hardly able to keep the amusement out of his voice.

''P-please d-don't! L-let them g-go. T-they wouldn't try to s-stop you now.'' Lyra stuttered through her emotional state. She wasn't totally aware yet of what her mind was saying, she just knew she had to do something. Clint was already down, not dead but he was well on his way to being as he bled out on the floor groaning.

Loki sighed while continuing to hold his gaze at Tony ''I'm afraid my dear, that is not a good enough reason.'' Loki then raised his sceptre back up and was about to slice it across Stark's neck.

''NO! Pl-please I'll do a-anything, j-just don't hurt t-them.'' Lyra sobbed.

''Lyra, no! Don't do anything!'' Tony pleaded with her.

''I can't let you die!'' She sobbed ''I am nothing compared to you, this world needs you all of you.''

''Lyra! No! You're innocent in all this! You shouldn't suffer for our failure!'' Tony yelled.

Tony's pleading fell on deaf ears, Lyra would do what she had to, to save them ''Loki please!'' She begged ''You can kill me instead, do what you want with me, just please don't hurt them.'' Lyra stayed strong, she would show that she meant business. No more crying.

Loki smirked, his plan was falling into place ''Why on this realm, should I kill you and not them?''

''Because they don't fear death, they know that being a hero means you could die every day, whereas if you kill me they will be emotionally dead. To know that they couldn't save a helpless civilian as I... d-die in front of them, not to mention what everyone else will think! They are supposed to help people not let others die for them; their reputation will be lost and so will the trust that is installed in them by millions.'' Lyra had no idea where that had come from, her mind just spewed forward this surprisingly well put together argument. It looked like it was working though, Loki looked like he was considering her offer.

Loki mocked contemplating her offer, she had played right into his hands ''Very well Miss Stark, your life for theirs. Do we have a deal?''

Lyra quickly responded ''Yes.'' She wouldn't give Loki a chance to change his mind.

Lyra then saw that Tony's eyes were brimming with tears. He now had to watch his niece be killed in front of him and for that she was truly sorry, to cause him so much pain. But she knew that the offer was their only hope to put a stop to Loki, so she had no choice but to take it.

''Can I at least say goodbye?'' She asked, her eyes pleading with Loki.

''Very well.'' Loki said, stepping aside.

Lyra crawled towards her uncle and threw her arms around him, holding him tight as if it would absorb his pain ''Don't cry, when he kills me, don't give him the satisfaction of seeing you hurt. You need to stay strong. Y-you can grieve for me later... O-one last thing...remember how much I love you uncle Tony.'' The tears fell from both of their eyes. She then kissed him on the forehead and looked at him one last time, before the chitari came and dragged her back to Loki.

Loki then knelt down beside her, using his sceptre to cut her feet free ''No more restraints. It is far too undignified.'' He muttered to her.

''Now Miss Stark, I do believe we should make our deal official.'' Loki offered her his hand, Lyra was confused but she took his hand, though not without hesitation.

A green light then circled around their hands before then fading away ''Our deal is now official.'' Loki announced before smirking ''You now belong to me.''

''I-I belong to you.'' Lyra asked, that was a rather odd choice of words for Loki to use.

''Yes, you do.'' Loki began, then motioned his agents back over ''I imagine you are rather exhausted Miss Stark from the day's events, my agents will take you to get some rest.''

''W-what? W-why aren't you killing me?'' Lyra couldn't fathom what was happening, but she felt as though she had just been the one played ''You are supposed to kill me!''

Loki began to chuckle ''Now why would I want to do such a thing?'' Taking a piece of stray red hair that was near her eye, he pushed it softly behind her ear.

''Because that was our deal.'' She replied weakly

Loki began to laugh ''See Miss Stark, this is what happens when you try to trick the trickster. I must commend your effort though.'' Loki stroked her porcelain cheek ''But I assure you, your death is not my desire.''

''T-then what are you going to do with me?'' Lyra, felt sick. No she didn't want to die but this was far more terrifying. The unknown.

''Well, I made a trade for your life.'' Loki smiled darkly ''And that is exactly what I will get, your life. A life that you will be spending with me.''

''Did your dear uncle not inform you of my plans for you?'' Loki asked, turning to Tony with a smirk.

Tony had visibly paled ''I-I hadn't thought you were being serious! I thought you were just being an asshole!'' Tony now felt sick.

''You knew about this!'' Lyra spat at Tony ''Why didn't you tell me?'' In all honesty, yes, she was upset but she knew that she would have made the same choice. But at least she would have had some warning about what she was letting herself in for.

''Lyra, I swear I didn't think he was being serious!'' Tony defended.

''What did he say?!'' Lyra asked, hoping it was nothing too awful.

Tony opened his mouth to reply but then Loki cut him off before he could a word out ''You see Miss Stark, when I was in that glass cage, you caught my eye with your small passing visit with your uncle's beverage. So, I entertained the thought of you, being the lovely creature that you are, becoming my Queen. Which your dear uncle became enraged about. He said it would never happen, but I guess... things always change.'' Loki would leave out all the vulgar things he said, she didn't need to hear that. After all they were only to rile stark.

''Anyway Miss Stark, my agents will escort you and get you settled elsewhere.'' The blue-eyed agents that seemed to constantly appear from nowhere, tried to show her out of the lounge but when she refused to move, they had to look to Loki for permission to drag her. Loki gave a small nod, he didn't want her to be man handled but if she wouldn't comply then it was needed.

''You were never going to kill us were you?'' Tony raged ''You just wanted my niece!''

Loki chuckled darkly ''You see that's where you are wrong Stark. I was in fact going to kill all of you and then take her as my own, if my plan failed. But when she offered herself so willingly, as I thought she would, I couldn't refuse, even it did mean sparing all of your lives. There are certain rules in Asgard, ones I of course expect you all to not know, but let us just say, that Miss Stark is mine now. Forever...and there is nothing anyone can do about it.''

''Elaborate.'' Tony grit through his teeth.

Loki turned to Thor ''Why don't you brother.'' Loki waved his hand and Thor's mouth became free as the chitari stepped aside.

''Go on Thor.'' Loki spat ''Tell your friend why I own his niece.''

Thor gave a heavy sigh, ashamed to meet Tony's eyes ''I am sorry Stark, but Loki is right he rightfully owns her. Lyra is a spoil of war, which means Loki has rights to do as he pleases with her. If he would have taken her against her will as his Queen then our father-''

''Your father!'' Loki hissed, interrupting.

''My father.'' Thor corrected, shooting Loki an irritated look before continuing ''My father could have intervened as the All-father can in such matters.'' Loki rolled his eyes slightly, if he would have forced Lyra to become his Queen, he would have ignored any request by Odin anyway. Even if it started a war, Loki was King here not Odin. Not likely Odin would have cared about one Midgardian anyway. ''When Lyra offered herself freely, she chose to be with Loki. No one on Asgard can intervene, he owns her for as long as he chooses to...I'm sorry Stark, I truly am.''

''How touching.'' Loki said sarcastically, before summoning some magical tape to Thor's mouth ensuring he wouldn't have to hear anymore of Thor's voice.

Loki then motioned for some chitari guards ''Take my brother back to Asgard, I wish for him to inform Odin and my mother of my victory and the consequences if they try to interfere with my rule.'' The guards lifted Thor he tried to struggle but he was too weak, he was badly hurt from the battle. Even so, Thor would be still treated like a hero when he returned to Asgard despite his failure. Loki scowled slightly, he had never had such a luxury.

Loki then signalled the remaining chitari to escort Barton, Natasha, Steve and the unconscious Bruce out of the building and to go separate ways ''Rough them up a little, I would not want them to leave here fully able to come back and threaten my rule.''

When a chitari went to drag away Tony, Loki stopped it ''Leave Stark with me, I would like to have a private word with him first.''

Loki knelt down to Tony's height on the floor, a smile twitching at his lips ''So, here we are Stark. The reality you never thought was possible is true.''

''You're sick.'' Tony spat ''I will free Lyra from you somehow.''

Loki chuckled ''Of course Stark.'' Loki said patronisingly.

''Though I would like to clear something up before we part ways.'' Loki began, making Tony raise an eyebrow ''Your niece will be my only woman, of that I assure you. I may be King but the only woman I have interest in bedding is Miss Stark. I would hate for you to think that there would be others besides her.''

''You're deluded if you think, she will ever go near you!'' Tony argued.

Loki smirked ''I would not be so sure about that, the way I have seen her look at me...I would say, I am not the only one with desires.''

Tony fought against his bindings, making Loki laugh. He wanted to beat Loki senseless ''You dare touch her and I'll kill you!''

''A mortal cannot kill a God.'' Loki warned dangerously ''If you value your life, you will do well to remember that.''

Loki stood, beginning to walk away from Tony ''Well, I suppose I should go take care of my Queen and make sure she is settled.'' He smirked.

'' You fucking ass hole.'' Tony spat.

''Don't worry Stark. I will not bed her till I make her my wife, she needs to become an Asgardian first and thanks to her selfless act, Odin has no choice but to make her an immortal and make her strong enough to carry my heirs. And I am sure that once she becomes immortal we will have plenty of time to become acquainted.''

Tony was running out of options, Loki was determined to make Lyra his. Tony would have to turn to his last option, one he wasn't proud of. Begging. ''Please, don't do this, don't marry her and take her away from everything, surely there is a woman on Asgard that can give you what you want. Please don't do this to her just to spite me.''

Loki chuckled ''Is your ego really that huge Stark? That you think I chose Miss Stark just to hurt you. I chose Miss Stark because she is an exquisite creature worthy of a King. I have no interest in women on Asgard and why would I when such beauty has presented itself here on Midgard. She is mine Stark. I will wed her and bed her. Now, if you're quite finished, I have other things to attend to.'' With that Loki turned sharply on his heels, clicking his fingers to summon some Chitari guards to come and drag Tony away. Tony's eyes couldn't help but follow Loki as he left the room in the direction that Lyra was taken ''If you act fast, you still may be able save Clinton.'' Loki called as he disappeared.

As Stark was been dragged away he vowed to himself that he would do what he could to protect Lyra, even if it was just staying in New York to be near her. Tony didn't feel she was going to be safe with Loki, not for a second.
