I do not own "Foster's Home for Imaginary friends"
DEAR READERS, I must apologize for my...inattentiveness of this story. More so to Captical-C, who allowed me to adopt this wonderful story. I deeply apologize for my absence and hope it never happens again. Four years is a long time. I'm hoping that the loyal followers I have gathered will take an interest in this story. And my others.
This chapter is a tribute to you! Tweaked slightly, but your work at heart.
Instant Mac
Tears... Someone was crying on his shoulder. His arms were wrapped around this someone in a comforting manner. This someone was a girl. But just who was this girl? Why was she crying? And how had he gotten here? He opened his eyes to answer at least one of those questions.
"Goo?" He said at the sight of her. Her quiet sobbing simply continued. "Goo?" He repeated. "Why are you crying?"
"B..because...because you...because Mac...I..." The girl was so distraught she could barely speak.
"You're crying because of me?" He asked. "Did I do something?"
"No, not you...MAC...the accident..." Goo said.
The accident? He thought. A rush of memories returned to him. The walking. Pushing Goo. The car crash.
"You're crying about my accident? But I wasn't even hurt when that happened." He assured. "I came out without a scratch on me."
"No, I only imagined it that way..." Goo said, shaking her head. "I...I'm sorry." She spoke as the tears continued.
"Goo, what are you talking about?" He asked. "Sorry about what?"
This time Goo paused as she tried to get her crying under control, if only for a moment.
"I was wishing I could wake up and find out it was all just a dream... That Mac had survived the crash... that he was right here with me... that nothing could ever hurt him again... And then...then you where here... And now I don't know what to do..." Goo said before losing control of her tears.
"You...you imagined me?" He asked in confusion. "B...but how? Why? How can that be?"
"I don't know... I didn't even mean to..." Goo said. "I didn't mean to hurt you..."
"But I feel like myself. How can I be imaginary?" He asked in disbelief. "I even have memories from before tonight." He said. "I remember you and everyone at Foster's. Even my last birthday."
"And the one's before that?" Goo asked sadly.
He opened his mouth to speak only to go silent. He tried to remember his past birthdays, any of the, only for nothing but blankness to come up. He couldn't remember any of the parties, any of the faces, not even the type of cake.
"I...I...I don't...I don't..." He said, devastated at the realization.
"You don't remember anything I didn't know about." Goo said, not meeting his eyes.
"Because I'm imaginary." He said in a whisper. "I'm not the real Mac..." He spoke as the realization finally set in. "Why didn't I know... How can I live like this? I can't go to Foster's... Anyone who looks at me will see his face... I'll be a constant reminder of their friend. And I'll always know I'm just a cheep imitation..." He said.
"Then stay here..." Goo offered. "I promise I'll keep you as long as I live..."
"But... I'll never be able to take his place." He said.
"I'm not asking you to..." Goo said. "Just stay... I don't want you to disappear." She said.
"How can I stay here knowing what it'll do to you?" He asked. "Seeing me will just remind you of him. And I can't be him, no matter how similar I am." He said.
"Then don't be him... Be the friend who came to help me when I needed it most." Goo said.
"How can I ever be anything but a replacement? I don't even have a name of my own." He said.
"I'll give you one..." Goo said. "Just please, stay... I need you here." She said.
"I... No one at fosters can see me if I stay here. Knowing about me would only make things worst for them. Promise me you'll never tell them." He said.
"Promise..." Goo replied, still choked up.
"Then I'll stay." He promised. "So long as you need me to be here."
"Okay!" She exclaimed, shocking the imaginary friend. Gone were her tears and in their place was a bright smile.
"Goo?"
"Since your not Mac, we need to come up with a name for you." She stated as she tapped her chin while thinking. "Something that'll wow people but still hold sentimental value. Need to pay our respect to Mac after all."
The imaginary friend looked at his creator in shock. This was the Goo that he 'knew' and yet it shocked him at how she was. She went from tears to cheers in an instant.
"I-"
"How about Morris?" She offered. "Nah, how about-"
"How about Cam?" He offered.
"Hmm." She thought on the idea. "Hmmmm." She thought some more. "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm."
"Goo?"
"I like it!" She declared.
"It's like Mac, but not." She stated. "Just like you! Wait, is that rude?" She asked as she looked at him. "I feel like that came out as rude."
It was a little rude, but she was smiling again and he didn't want to ruin that.
"It's okay." He smiled.
"I'm glad you're at least as nice as he was." She stated with her own smile. "Now let me get a good look at you."
Suddenly, Cam found himself standing as if he were being fitted for a suite. Goo walked around him, as if examining a rare specimen. As she did, she made sounds of approval at the quality of her 'friends' creation.
"I did good." She stated, feeling proud. "Momma can cook!"
