Once we had returned to the ship, it was already dark outside. My brother, unlike Lucy and Edmund, retreated to his room the second we stood on board. Of course, since the men had fought on the Lone Islands some of them had been wounded meaning they needed help with their wounds. Being the only two women on board Lucy and I gladly volunteered to help out with that. After all, before the war had started I was studying to be a nurse so healing was nothing unknown to me. And just as night had fallen Lucy and I were done tending to the men. Everyone was back in their positions and the boat was flowing freely with the wind and across the sea. Being tired I also soon went to bed falling asleep a little after I got under the covers. I fell asleep with the thoughts of; today's events, the outcome and what could possibly lie ahead in my mind.
I stood on the boat, darkness surrounding me. The deck seemed to be deserted with none of the crew here. I wondered what could've possibly happened. However, just as I was about to move a voice called out from behind me.
"Elizabeth..." turning around, I saw Caspian standing not far from me. I smiled as I walked over to him.
"Where is everyone?" I asked him with a smile. Somehow, being around him made me feel happy and free. I don't understand why, though.
"I'm not sure!" he looked around the ship when suddenly a loud crash came from bellow us making it shake with such force I have never felt before. Looking overboard I saw a green creature in the water moving under the ship slowly. It seemed to be circling around us as if waiting for the right time to strike. Caspian pulled out his sword, leading the two of us over to the middle of the deck. And just as we took another step the creature emerged from the sea showing it's ugly head. But then I realised what it is. A sea serpent! It hissed loudly bearing it's teeth at us.
I shot up with a gasp covered in cold sweat. My breathing was heavy as if I had just ran. It was just a dream, just a dream... I reassured myself even though it seemed so real, like it had just happened. Looking around the room, I was glad to find I had not woken anyone up. So as I swung out of bed, I made sure to walk out of the room quietly not to disturb any of them. As I walked out onto the deck I saw rare sailors at it. Tavros was looking over the sea in search of land while few other men were taking care of other small tasks. The sky was a light shade of pink as the sun was rising up, looking like it is emerging from the sea. I leaned on the rails looking out at the blue surface deep in thought. However I was startled by a voice behind me, just like in my nightmare.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Caspian walked over to my side making me smile.
"It really is..." I mumbled. "Did I wake you up?" I asked him, realising just a few minutes ago I had been moving around the room in which we slept.
"No, I was already awake, trying my best to get some more sleep..." he commented looking down at me. So if he was awake, than he must know I had a night mare. And I was actually hoping nobody would have to know of that... "Unlike you..." he added making me smile.
"Yes well... Once I wake up there is no going back to sleep!" I stated making him chuckle.
"Do you wish to talk about your nightmare?" he asked me, his smile replaced by concern as he looked into my eyes.
"It was nothing, just my mind playing tricks with me..." I explained making him nod, but he didn't look away.
"If you say so." He knew not to push the subject any further, so he changed it. "So how are you liking it here in Narnia?"
"Well except for the few life-threatening situations, I'm really enjoying it!" I smiled making him chuckle at my answer as he looked back to the sea. Then again, that is kind of all you could look at. Luckily it wasn't a bad sight.
"Something tells me you could take care of yourself in a life-threatening situation. You were amazing with the bow back at the Lone Islands..." he complimented making a small blush appear on my face as I looked back at the sea, hiding it behind my hair.
"Thank you, but it was only beginners luck, after all I have never touched a bow in my life." I commented looking back up at him.
"As you wish to say." He stated with a smile making me blush slightly harder. I was about to say something else when I was distracted by a red gash I only just noticed on his arm.
"When did you get that?!" I asked him in disbelief and he looked down at the gash as well sighing.
"Fighting, at the Islands..." he stated making me look up at him with wide eyes.
"Why didn't you say anything?" I asked sounding surprised and confused at the same time.
"You were tired, I didn't want to bother you. And it's not that bad." He commented making me look back up into his eyes. There was something in them I couldn't quite decipher.
"Next time, tell me. Please..." I mumbled and all he did was nod. "Now will you please, let me have a look at it now, before it gets infected?" I asked him with a pleading look.
"Come on then." He stated as we moved through the halls bellow deck once again. He lead me into the room where we first met Drinian once we all appeared in Narnia. Even though that was just yesterday, it actually already seemed like forever ago. "There's some water over there, and bandages you can use." He commented pointing to the table and he was right. I moved over to retrieve them as he sat down in the widow seat and curled up his sleeve. The wound wasn't that bad, as he had said to reassure me. It wasn't deep, nor was it penetrating his bicep so it only needed cleaning and bandages... To my relief.
"You were right, it's not that bad." I commented with a small smile as I gently started cleaning the wound with the water since I doubt they had something like alcohol here. Unless it was in the form of a drink. At one moment he slightly winces making me instantly apologize.
"I guess I should've told you earlier." He joked making a small smile appear on my face as he added. "And don't apologize." It made me look up into his eyes as I stopped cleaning the wound on his bicep. "After all, you're helping me." He mumbled as I was slowly getting lost in his chocolate brown eyes not even noticing both of us were slowly leaning in. However, both of us jumped apart when we heard the doors to the room open. Looking over to see who entered, I saw it was Edmund and it seemed like he hadn't noticed anything.
"I though you might be here... Drinian is looking for you Caspian." Edmund commented and only then noticed the wound I was cleaning. "Is everything alright?" he seemed slightly worried.
"I'm fine, I was just to stubborn to say anything before." Caspian stated making me shake my head.
"And later, you're lucky I noticed it." I stated as I started wrapping a bandage around his bicep and soon tied it into a knot.
"Thank you, Elizabeth." He stated looking down at me. Did I even mention how much taller he was than me? Well I did have to look up to see his eyes since we still were pretty close, but that soon disappeared as he stood up. "Now if you'll excuse me!" he started walking over to Edmund. "I'll talk to you later!" he turned to me one last time before exiting the room as he started up a conversation with my cousin. After the doors closed once again, I only just sat there staring at them trying to figure out what has just happened. But then again, it wasn't that hard... Edmund walked in just as I was going to kiss the freaking king of Narnia!
Hey guys,
sorry for the long wait, but in my defence it has been hectic around here in my head and life and I just had no time to write. But I'm back and promise to be more devoted. I just want to thank you all for the rewievs, follows and favourites, you have no idea how much they mean to me. So I hope you like this chapter and tell me what you think.
