You refused to sit around the Davenport Manor wallowing up in your sorrow, so for the past week or so, you had helped around the Homestead. Even during the beating sun or the harshest winds, you helped out at the farm or you collected supplies for the tavern. Usually the jobs were chasing after escapee chickens or harvesting some of the crops that were fully grown and ready to be used.
It temporarily took your mind off the memory of your burning store, but as soon as you were alone in the manor, your mind went into turmoil. So you drowned yourself in work just to keep your mind away from reminding yourself what had happened.
Achilles always looked at you with concern and shook his head. And when Ratonhnhaké:ton gets home late at night and sees you still up and busy, he would always try and force you to go to your room that he had prepared for you. You would obey obviously, seeming as your eyes threatened to shut tight and you found it hard to focus. Also, getting to sleep was much easier than before as you wore your body down to exhaustion.
So it was no surprise when Ratonhnhaké:ton came home one early evening to find you were not within the manor. He wondered out of the grand house and walked slowly through the Homestead, looking for your whereabouts.
Down by the river bed you knelt, scrubbing clothes along a washboard. Your hands worked hard on removing the blood that were splattered and stained on Ratonhnhaké:ton's shirts and cleaning yours and Achilles's clothes too.
You failed to hear the approaching footsteps and Ratonhnhaké:ton waited a second before he cleared his throat, making you aware of his presence.
"Oh, hello Ratonhnhaké:ton," You said as you turned back around and continued to scrub the soap over his shirt and push and pull it along the wooden washboard. You fingers began to numb up in the icy cold waters during the blustering winds of a cloudy day.
"[y/n] why don't you take a break?" He said, worry etched in his voice and you could hear it too, but you sighed and scrubbed even harder, your fingers turning white from the force you put on them.
"I've nearly done, then I will take a little bre-"
"No, come on," His giant hands wrapped around your upper arm and he gently lifted you, forcing you to stand on your aching feet and he pulled you towards the forest that enveloped the Homestead.
"Wha- Ratonhnhaké:ton I need to finish it, I can't just leave it!" You exclaimed, looking in front to see that he was looking over at you with serious eyes that lost their spark. In a way, you hated the fact that you were causing him to worry so much, but if you didn't keep yourself busy with work, then you would lose yourself to sorrow like you did when your mother and father died.
Ratonhnhaké:ton didn't answer back, in fact he left you both in silence as his grip loosened and dropped to your hand. He held your hand tightly, not in a way to cause pain, but in a way to show his protectiveness. It warmed you up inside.
Eventually he came to a gradual halt and as you stepped away from his bear like body, you saw the beauty of a small lake. It's waters glistened under the sunlight like it had its own stars buried beneath. Up on a cliffs edge, masses of water cascaded down before crashing into the water, making ripples that spread along the surface. You were awe struck, mesmerised by the enchanting peacefulness that the place emitted, inevitably drawing you in. Standing back from you, Ratonhnhaké:ton's lips raised in a slight smirk at your reaction.
"My people call this place Keesog Npe, which means Moon Water,"
"Why's that?"
"Because at night, the lake seems to make the moons reflexion much larger, and the wolves like to drink from here. It has a rare beauty…" Ratonhnhaké:ton trailed off and he looked into your [e/c] eyes as you listened intensely, intrigued by what he told you. He gazed, not daring to look away, afraid to miss a second of your elegant features that never failed to entice him, even when you were both younger. You noticed his captivation and your cheeks began to fluster. Never have you been looked upon in such a way and it made your heart skip a beat. Quickly you changed the subject.
"W-what is the old man doing?" You stuttered, trying to regain as much composer as you could grasp.
"Sleeping, you've took away any jobs he can physically do,"
"Well at least he can rest," A faint smile spread across your face, but was faded slightly when Ratonhnhaké:ton brows frowned.
"But what about you, you look like you could sleep for weeks?!" He took a step towards you and lifted your chin to take a look at your pale skin and dark circles. In doing so, his frown deepened with concern. You pried away your face from his hands and looked down at the floor.
"I'm fine, I just want to keep myself bus-"
"No, what you are doing is wearing yourself down, this is not healthy [y/n], you need to have a re-"
"Don't you see? I can't!" You interrupted him which made his eyes widen slightly to your sudden yell.
"I can't let all that I have lost come crashing down upon me, it will ruin me! I have nothing now…" Tears filled your eyes and your head fell into your hands as your shoulders shook from your sobs. Ratonhnhaké:ton's face fell lax and he sighed, knowing that you have finally cracked from your tough shell that hid you away from reality. His big muscular hands were placed on your lower back as he pulled you against his chest. There you sobbed into his robes, staining them with your fresh tears.
"You have me," He whispered softly into your ear with his musky voice. His voice hit a cord in your heart that made you instantly lift your head to look into his eyes. One of his hands lifted to your face as he wiped away the tears that stained your face. You both stared into each other's eyes until finally he pushed his lips upon yours, creating a spark that ignited between the both of you. You melted into his touch as his hands went back down to your waist, pulling you closer to him.
Returning the kiss, you smiled at the taste of his sweet breath against your tongue which achieved you to grasp the fabric that covered his chest. The kiss was soft and gentle, but nothing short of passion that had built up over the many years that both of you have been apart.
The moment seemed too perfect, which became evidently false when a low rumbling growl rippled through the sound of the howling wind which caused you to pull away from Ratonhnhaké:ton. Before either of your could react, a heavy weight pushed down upon your side, forcing you to fall straight to the ground.
With his quick reactions, Ratonhnhaké:ton shoved the wolf away from your stunned form and had it scurrying away into the thick forested land. From behind, 3 other wolves came out into the opening of the lake, bare teethed and their pace slow and steady. You watched as one by one, Ratonhnhaké:ton killed them with his hidden blades. But each bloody squelch of the blades penetrating the skin made you cringe under your shaking skin. Memories of your mother's death flashed before your eyes and your eyes widened with fright. Your hands gripped tightly to the damp green grass that laid beneath you.
The last yelp of the final wolf shot through the air and Ratonhnhaké:ton turned to look at your frozen body that sat on the floor. Cautiously he walked over to you, making sure not to freak you out in any way. He knelt down beside you and put his hand on your cheek which made you flinch from the unexpected touch.
"Come on, let's go back home," He said as he gently lifted you from the ground with his hand. You held tightly onto his side, not willing to let go or exit the safety that he brought upon you.
Back at the Homestead, you sat at the kitchen table as Ratonhnhaké:ton hovered over the fire, heating up the kettle of water as he prepared you a cup of tea. Once the tea was ready and nothing more than a swirling liquid of diluted tea extracts and milk, he placed it in front of you and sat opposite you on the kitchen table. His eyes never left you, his frown of concern etched on his face.
"How are you feeling?" He asked and you gave him a short nod. Taking a sip of the tea, you felt your body relax under the warmth of the hot beverage.
"Thank you," You gave Ratonhnhaké:ton a small smile as you thanked him for the drink and he returned the smile back, though It was only small. Your mind instantly went back to the moment your lips connected with his and the way his mouth seemed to fit so perfectly with yours. It was like a missing puzzle piece. It made your heart ache just thinking about it. Your cheeks began to heat up as you remembered the way he kissed you, it was rhythmic and gentle, yet full of passion. You wanted more.
As soon as you had finished your tea, you went over to the wash basin and began to wash your cup clean. You could feel Ratonhnhaké:ton's eyes fixed upon the back of your head and you imagined the feeling of his touch on your skin. So once you had done washing the cup, you turned around to face him and you both looked into each other's eyes, seeing the need for intimacy in both of your eyes.
Immediately, Ratonhnhaké:ton hurried over and crushed his lips against yours. The kiss wasn't like before, passionate and gentle, this time it was hungry and rough, but it still had an edge of care in it. You draped your arms over his shoulders as he pushed you against the water basin, gripping onto the edge of it as he deepens the kiss. Your body was pinned against his leaving no space between you both. Both of your bodies took to the shape of the others curves.
One of his hands went to your hips and pulled your abdomen towards his, and you felt his slightly grown bulge which made you smirk in the kiss. You gently bit his lower lip, dragging it out as you looked into his ebony eyes. When you heard a pleasurable moan of approval escape his throat, you giggled in satisfaction before pressing your lips back onto his again.
Before long, you found that Ratonhnhaké:ton's hands had fully grasped your hips and pulled you firmly against him where his bulge was at full growth, it was firm and ready for the intimacy that it craved for. You couldn't help but blush at the feeling of his manhood as a flutter whirls in your lower regions.
His lips trailed down to the base of your neck causing you to tip your head back and close your eyes. Your teeth trapped your bottom lip in its caged grip, controlling the moans that threatened to escape your lips in such a heated moment that you shared.
Ratonhnhaké:ton was about to go to the back of your dress to untie it until he heard a light raspy cough from behind him that made him instantly turn on his heels to face a rather smug Achilles. You stood against the basin, breathing heavily, your hair slightly out of place as you looked at Achilles rather shocked and embarrassed.
"Oh don't stop on my account," the old man said before turning back around and heading into his room, leaving the door wide open before he sits down in his seat by the fireplace. Ratonhnhaké:ton looked at you, giving you an apologetic look before following after the old man. You were left stood in your own flusterment with a smile itching to cover your face.
