The second time, you ask? Why you're so bothered to know about Captain Jack Sparrow I'll never know. Besides, we only met the two times. His two encounters in my life have nothing of any special meaning to me. Believe me, this encounter between Jack and I was the last one I even intended to have.
I just want you all to know that I never went out of my way to make sure it happened. I was going through a rebellious stage, my mother was consistently, yet contantly failing, trying to find me a suitor. Most of whom were from father's company. Elizabeth may constantly complain about Commodore Norrington and the never ending attention he laid upon her, but in my opinion, she had it easy, at least he was in the same age range.
I certainly did not leave the house that day with the intention of bumping into Jack Sparrow once again, the boy himself had only entered my mind a few times since our last meeting, and the thoughts weren't very interesting considering the fact that they were being produced from the memory of a seven year old girl.
I did however leave the house that day with the intention of spending some of my father's money and avoiding my mothers company.
That morning I had sat down at my dressing table whilst I let the maids attend to the daily chore of getting me ready. It took an hour and a half in full, it takes a lot of time to squeeze a girl into a corset until you're pretty sure she can no longer breathe, however it is something that unlike Elizabeth, has never bothered me. In fact, I had even heard of rumours of the fashion in Singapore that seemed even more drastic than what I had to endure now. It intrigued me. Intrigued being a word that I now knew the meaning of, due to having asked my father the moment I returned home from that eventful day ten years ago.
No doubt the day in town with Elizabeth would include her staying in eyesight of the black smiths so that she might be able to catch a glimpse of the Turner boy, only to act as though she hadn't the faintest idea that he was there whenever he would look up and spot her. This was a game that I was used to, but not a fan of, time didn't pass by fast during this time as no decent fabric stall would set up near the black smith's due to the awful stench of smoke clinging to the expensive cloths.
To no surprise, this is exactly what we spent our first half hour of our morning out together doing. She didn't even try to hide the fact that this is what she was doing, every other day when we would go into town this is precisely the first thing we would do. It actually surprised me that we hadn't been ambushed and robbed before due to the fact they could probably time us arriving at this particularly drab part of town down to the last minute.
As I was saying, as far as I knew, this was a day that was similar to all the rest, we were loitering around some of the cheaper stalls nearer the black smiths. Elizabeth was muttering something about purchasing a sword for her father's birthday when I heard overheard a conversation from two women that were passing just behind us.
A fabric shipment from Singapore had arrived about two hours ago into port, which meant that it wouldn't be long before they were most likely to be on a stall somewhere. I was not waiting for Elizabeth today, if she wasn't coming, she was being left.
"Elizabeth, did you hear that? Fabrics from Singapore, we have to go get the best ones before they're taken by old women who think they'll be able to make it look good, are you coming?" I gushed.
"No, I think I'm going to go ask about that sword..." Elizabeth replied wistfully. I rolled my eyes.
"Well you know where to find me then..." I trailed off as I made my way towards the docks. And where do you find a wannabe pirate? The docks of course.
Now don't be expecting a cheerful reunion of two people who once met when they were children, why would we even remember each other not at least recognise what each other would now look like.
Upon looking around the stalls for what seemed like forever, it was apparent to me that these women had clearly been talking nonsense because no one seemed to have a clue what I was talking about. Although just to be sure, I took a trip down to the actual harbour just to see if I had perhaps missed the boat.
I wrinkled my nose as I started my way down the creaking board walk, shouts of drunken sailors coming from both the beach and their ships. Just before reaching the Harbor Master to ask him what had happened to the shipment from Singapore, a group of loud sailors came bounding past me, forcing me to step to the side slightly to avoid being barged into. Although luck did not seem to be on my side that day, well we knew that already since this is the second time I had the very unpleasant pleasure of meeting Jack Sparrow again.
First the smell of rum hit me like a wall, then the sailor who was pushed roughly by his crew mate fell into me and then I fell off the dock and into the water. Wonderful.
Jack's POV
Windsor? You want to know the second time I saw her? What's it to you? That's not even the good part. To tell you the truth, I can't remember much about it myself, she was more pleasant to be around when she was seven than when she was seventeen and that was saying something.
Of course I didn't know who she was, I had long forgotten about the seven year old girl I had met here ten years ago. Whenever my father made port here I did used to think about the posh little girl I had dragged into a pub once, but I hadn't thought about her in a long time.
It seemed that whenever I met this Windsor girl, I was saving her from something. I was just stepping off my father's boat as I heard a sequence of noises; shouting, laughter, a scream and then a splash. I looked up to see a group of clueless sailors peering over the edge of the dock watching the rippling water beneath them.
Rolling my eyes, I sauntered over to take a look myself, assuming that they had just pushed a tart into the sea either by accident or for a laugh. There was a quiet moment before a woman appeared at the surface, desperately trying to keep her head out of the water but simultaneously trying to screech at the group of men who had pushed her in. It was clear that this wasn't just some tart, it was a wealthy tart.
A cheap tart would easily be able to get herself out of a situation like this, she'd float easier. A wealthy one on the other hand will always sink, their clothes are too heavy, they're like rocks.
As she began to sink back under the water again and the crowd grew, it became clear to me that no one else was going to bother jumping in. Taking off my hat, sword, pistol and coat, shoving them into the arms of drunken Gibbs, I dove in.
She wasn't hard to miss, perhaps if I had remembered the encounter with the little girl I had, I may have recognised her by the ridiculous pink gown that she was wearing now. Except I was a little more preoccupied with stopping the girl from drowning.
After managing to pull her onto the beach, I was expecting her to be more than grateful for her saviour. She was not. I watched as she scrambled to her feet, a little unsteadily I might add, and glared at me furiously.
"How dare you?" She screeched, her cheeks flushing red as she noticed the crowd still staring at the scene. "I could have you locked up for this! Do you have any idea who I am?" She demanded. I only just stopped myself from rolling my eyes.
"Look love..." I began, holding my hands up. "It wasn't me that knocked you in, savvy? It was those fine gentlemen over there" I pointed a finger in the vague direction of the men who were indeed the culprits. I watched as her eyes darted angrily between myself and the other lads and began to back away slowly toward the dock again. To my delight she decided to follow me.
"You. What is your name?" She demanded, slightly out of breath, pushing her soaking wet hair from her face as well as lifting up her skirt ever so slightly as the weight of it was causing it to drag along the floor.
"Sparrow" I growled back. I was slightly annoyed that whilst I was the one who saved her, I was getting it in the neck for it. "And you I presume are the daughter of a powerful man who can lock me away for a very long time am I wrong?" I smirked slightly.
"For your information, I am!" She snapped back, grabbing my arm and pulling me back to face her just as I was taking my things back from Gibbs.
If she hadn't have been soaking wet, there was a chance I could have taken her seriously. "Listen lovey, I'd love to stand here all day and listen to how me saving your life has earned me a good old time in one of those dear old cells, but I'm afraid I don't have the time" I shrugged, side stepping her and heading down the dock towards the pub.
She wasn't going to give up, she followed me all the way to the pub, ranting all the way about how there was no way for me to get out of this. Eventually, you'll learn that with Eleanor, she does not give up easily and always likes to believe that she is correct.
Upon walking into the pub, I shoved her down onto a bar stool and pulled one up opposite her at a table. Holding a finger up to my lips to attempt to silence her, I signalled to the barmaid to bring over two rums.
"Are ye done?" I asked, looking at the drowned rat, raising an eyebrow. She had quietened down completely, mostly due to her surroundings if I had to guess. She had obviously never set foot in a place like this in her life. She just looked at me, her scowl still set in place.
"I don't drink" She stated as the drinks were placed on the table, a disgusted look on her face as she leaned away from the bar maid.
"Perfect" I grinned widely, grabbing her drink and pouring it into my own. "Now, if it isn't so daring of me to ask, what might your name be? I think you owe the man you're going to imprison at least that?" She flushed slightly before opening her mouth to reply.
"Eleanor Florence Windsor" I watched her for a moment. Windsor? The name was familiar but I couldn't put my finger on precisely where I had heard it.
"About imprisoning you...I suppose I may be able to let you off...even if you did push me, you did help me and it was possibly an accident anyhow so think yourself lucky. Look where you're going next time okay?" She said haughtily, pushing herself to her feet. "Now, I suggest you go find your mother and ask her to teach you how to talk to a woman"
"Ah you see, me and my mother aren't on speaking terms so that would be rather difficult..." I grinned at her widely.
"My mother and I..." She corrected before something seemed to hit not only her but myself as well. We stared at each other for a long moment before I nodded with a slight smirk. "Miss Eleanor..."
She nodded her head once back "Sparrow" she replied before spinning on her heel and leaving through the door, a small trail of water behind her.
Nothing needed to be mentioned after that. We both remembered.
