Season 3A Episode 9: The Girl Who Knew Too Much
I was woken up by Scott bursting into my room. I was shocked awake and quickly remembered everything that happened before I fell asleep. Isaac was jumped awake next to me as well.
"Ah, Jeez. Seriously? Gross." Scott said as he saw Isaac and I in bed together. He covered his eyes. The only thing covering Isaac and I was a pale lavender sheet. Stiles walked in behind him and I felt my cheeks flush. Stiles looked between Isaac and I. His face fell.
"What?! It's 1 in the morning!" I yelled as I pulled my comforter from the ground and laid it on top of us.
"Hurry up and get dressed. Alison and Lydia need us at the school. Isaac, you can stay." Scott said before grabbing Stiles' arm and pulling him out, shutting the door behind them. I groaned before taking the comforter and wrapping it around myself. I hurried over to my dresser.
"Well, that was awkward as all hell." Isaac said, I heard him rustle in my sheets. I pulled out a plain pair of panties and a plain bra, seeing as I couldn't find the ones I had stripped off earlier. I pulled up the underwear while keeping the comforter around my body.
"You do realize that we're never going to hear the end of this, right?" I said, quickly strapping on my bra and letting the blanket fall.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, darling." Isaac said, his face sad as I looked at him.
"It's not your fault, Isaac. I should really learn how to lock my door." I confessed as I threw on a simple pair of black leggings with a oversize dark red sweater and white converse. " I have to go. I love you." I sped over to him and kissed him before rushing out my door.
In the hall, I was greeted by Scott and Stiles. Silence fell between us as we rushed outside. It was determined, much to my protest, that I would be riding with Stiles.
Stiles opened the door for me and once I was in, slammed it shut. I flinched at the loud noise.
Once on the road to the school, the silence became unbearable.
"Stiles," I said.
"I don't want to hear it, Katherine." Stiles' voice was stern and unforgiving.
"Are you seriously angry with me? Isaac is my boyfriend! What did you expect to happen?!" I half yelled.
"I don't know, Kat! Maybe I just-" He paused. "I'm jealous. It's not fair that he gets your love and I have to sit on the sidelines!" He hit the steering wheel before returning his eyes to the road.
"Stiles, I do love you. You're my best friend in this entire world." I softened. I scooted closer to him while he was driving and wrapped my arm around his. I rested my head on his shoulder and felt his tense body relax.
"I just wish you loved me like you love him." Stiles said after he planted a small kiss on my head.
Before I could say anything, we were already in a parking space. Stiles and I rushed out of the jeep and Scoot jumped off of his bike.
"Where is she?" Stiles asked, looking frantically for Lydia.
"Over here," Alison said. Scott, Stiles and I rushed to meet them.
"Lydia?" Stiles said, his voice dripping with concern.
"It's the same thing." Lydia looked and sounded on edge. "Same thing as the pool. I got into the car, heading somewhere totally different, and ended up here. And you told me to call you if there is a dead body." Lydia spoke quickly.
"You found a dead body?" I asked, getting the chills.
"Not yet."
"Not yet? What do you mean? Lydia, you're supposed to call us after you find the dead body." Stiles told her.
"Oh, no. I'm not doing that again. You find the dead body from now on." Lydia sassed.
"How are we supposed to find the dead body? You're always the one finding the dead body!" Stiles argued.
"Guys!" Scott got our attention. I hadn't noticed him slipping away. "I found the dead body."
I followed his line of sight to see a limp body. draped over the school sign. Blood sliding down the sign. I felt sick to my stomach. I don't think I had seen that much blood since Peter tore up that poor janitor months and months ago.
I ran over to the bush and hurled up whatever I had eaten hours before, whatever it happened to be, was completely unrecognizable. Stiles rushed to my side. He pulled my hair out of the way.
"Are you okay?" Stiles asked. I wiped the corner of my mouth with my sleeve and nodded.
"Yeah, Just all that blood."
"Idioms, analogies, metaphors and similes. All tools the writers uses to tell their story." Ms. Blake strolled around the classroom. She paused an looked down at Lydia, who was drawing in her notebook. "Lydia, I wasn't aware you had so many hidden talents."
"You and every guy I've ever dated." Lydia smiled. I chuckled at her sarcastic response.
"Oh, uhm. Well, That was an idiom, by the way." Ms. Blake said, clearly caught off guard by her comment. "Idioms are something of a secret to those who know the language or the culture." She paused in front of Stiles and Scott, Scott sitting just in front of me. "They are phrases that only make sense if you know key words. Saying 'jump the gun' is only meaningful if you know about the starting gun in a race. Or, a phrase like 'seeing the whole board."
"Chess." Stiles said quietly.
"That's right, Stiles. Do you play?" She smiled at him. Her small gave me an odd feeling.
"Uhm, no. My father does." Stiles responded. She smiled at him again before continuing to stroll and lecture.
Scott leaned over to Stiles before looking back at me to make sure I was listening.
"I think I can get to Ethan. I'm pretty sure I can make him talk." Scott said.
"What do you want to do that for?" Stiles asked.
"The druids are emissaries, right? So, what if the darach was an emissary to the alphas?"
"Okay, first of all, I cannot believe that we've gotten to the point where a sentence like what if the darach was an emissary to the alphas actually makes sense to me. Second of all, we're going to have a huge problem getting to Ethan."
"What's that?" I asked. Stiles looked back at me, his look reassured that we were still friends.
"Getting through Aiden. Ever since he's been back at school, they're always together. The third one doesn't really give a shit about anything, besides Kat. How are we going to separate them?" Stiles asked.
I saw Stiles and Scott exchange weird and 'I've got an idea' looks before turning to Lydia and I.
"What now?" Lydia asked. I just groaned.
"Why are you even talking to me? I helped kill your friend. How do you know I'm not going to kill another one?" Ethan said, looking between the three of us. I felt Justin's eyes on me.
"Is he looking at me? Are you threatening me?" Stiles stepped closer to Ethan. "You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna break off an extra large branch of mountain ash, wrap it in wolfsbane, roll it in mistletoe and shove it up your freaking-"
"Okay, tiger. Let's take it down a notch or two." I said, stepping between them and nudging Stiles back towards the wall. He sighed and relented.
"We are talking to you because I know that you didn't want to kill Boyd. Either of you." Scott said glancing between Justin and Ethan. "And I think that if something like that happened now, you wouldn't do it again." Scott said.
"You don't know what we owe them." Justin said, speaking up for the first time. "Especially Deucalion."
"We weren't like Kali and Ennis when we met him. We weren't alphas." Ethan added.
"What were you?" I asked, glancing between the alpha boys.
"Omegas." Justin said, plainly.
"In actual wolf packs, omegas are the scapegoat, the last to eat, the one that has to take abuse from the rest of the pack." Ethan informed.
"So, you and your brothers were like the bitches of the pack." Stiles said, I nudged his side.
"Something like that." Justin spat.
"What happened?" Scott asked.
"They were killers. I mean, people talk about us as monsters. Well, they were the ones who gave us the reputation. And our alpha was the worst of them." Ethan told. I could tell he was more sensitive than Aiden and Justin.
"Why didn't you guys just fight back?" Stiles asked. "Form Voltron wolf and kick everyone's asses?"
"We couldn't!" Justin near growled. I stepped in front of Stiles, protectively. Justin's temper wasn't as bad as Aiden's but I didn't want to take a chance.
"We didn't know how to control it back then." Ethan confessed.
"Deucalion taught you." I pieced it together. Ethan nodded towards me.
"And than, we fought. We took down the whole pack. One by one." Ethan looked haunted by the memories.
"And by the time we got to our alpha, he was begging for his life. And we tore him apart." Justin said, his tone intense.
"Literally." I felt Ethan's anxiety rise in the air around me.
"What about your emissary?" I prodded. Ethan gave a slight shake of his head.
"They're all dead? Kali and Ennis' too?" Scott uttered.
"All of them except for Deucalion's." Ethan spoke. I closed my eyes for a second to calm the air around me. I looked and saw Ethan's leg tapping stop.
"You mean Morell?" Stiles wondered. Before either of them could respond, the both raised their hands to their chests in pain.
"What? What's wrong? Are you guys hurt?" Scott inquired.
"Not us. Our brother." Ethan said.
Justin and Ethan followed their senses to the boys' locker room while Scott, Stiles and I followed. Just before Aiden hit Cora with a large round weight again, Scott, Justin and Ethan grabbed him.
"Hey!" Ethan yelled at his brother. "You can't do this!"
Stiles and I kneeled by Cora while Lydia supported her.
"She came at me!" Aiden defended.
"It doesn't matter!" Justin said sternly. "Kali gave Derek until the next full moon. You can't touch him or her."
The triplets left after a moment of Aiden intensely staring at Cora.
"Hey, guys. I think she's pretty hurt." Stiles said. I looked down to Cora. Her head was bleeding and she was barely moving.
I helped Cora up before she pushed me away and staggered over to one of the mirrors.
"You okay?" Scott asked as she cleaned up some of the blood from her forehead.
"She doesn't look okay." Lydia commented. Cora rolled her eyes.
"I'll heal." Cora breathed. She almost fell backwards before Stiles steadied her. "I said, I'm fine." Cora spat.
"Do you realize how suicidally crazy that was? What were you thinking going after them?" Stiles demanded.
"I did it for Boyd. None of you were doing anything." Cora spat once again.
"We're trying." Scott lightly defended.
"And you're failing." Cora's voice bitter and hurt. "You're just a bunch of stupid teenagers. Running around thinking that you can stop people from getting killed. When all you do is show up late. All you really do is find the bodies." Cora walked away as I rolled my eyes.
"She's definitely a hale." Stiles added. "I'll make sure she gets home." Stiles followed her.
"Stiles, wait!" I caught up with him and Cora. He turned to look at me and he smiled slightly. "I don't trust her. I'm coming with you." I declared.
"Philosophers?" I questioned Alison over the phone. I was sitting next to Stiles in the front while Cora was closer to the passenger window.
"And Guardians. Which after last night has to mean something like Law Enforcement. Right? Stiles, You have to tell your dad. Tell him whatever you need but you have to get him to believe. Tell your dad. Warn him." Alison warned us.
"Okay, Okay. I know." Stiles said, sounding defeated.
"What are you going to do?" Cora asked.
"I'm going to tell him the truth. And I'm going to need both of your help."
Stiles was pacing his room, obviously frustrated. His father watching him while Cora and I sat on his bed.
"Yes. Okay." Stiles spoke. "No, uh."
"Stiles," Sheriff said, impatient.
"Dad, I'm sorry. I just, I'm trying to figure out how to start here." Stiles breathed.
"Hey, I don't have this kind of time."
"Uhm, the last year, you had all these cases that you couldn't figure out, right? All the murders involving Kate Argent. And than Matt killing all the people who drowned him. All these murders right now, it's like, it's like you've been playing a losing game." Stiles spoke quickly.
"Stiles, the last thing I need right now is a job performance review from my own son."
"Yes, I know. Okay, see but that's just the reason. The reason you're losing the game is because you've never been able to see the whole board." Stiles pulled a chessboard from the top of his bookshelf. He laid it on his desk and opened it, revealing the chess pieces. "I need to show you the whole board.
"Scott and Derek are werewolves." Sheriff said plainly, looking exhausted.
"Yes. Stiles breathed.
"And Kate Argent was a werewolf."
"Hunter. Purple is hunter."
"Alison and her dad, too." I added.
"And my friend, deaton, the veterinarian, is a kanima."
"N-No, no, no. He's a druid. Well, we think."
"So, who's the kanima?"
"Jackson."
"No, Jackson is a werewolf."
"Jackson was a kanima first and Peter and Derek killed him and he came back to life as a werewolf and now he's in London."
"Who is the witch? And the darak?"
"It's darach."
"We don't know yet." Cora said.
"We don't know yet." Stiles agreed.
"But I'm the witch." I said, raising my hand.
"So, Kat is a werewolf and the Darach was killed by werewolves?"
"Slashed up and left for dead."
"We think." Cora added. Sheriff sighed and leaned back against his seat.
"Why was Jackson the kanima?"
"Cause sometimes the shape that you take reflects the person that you are."
"And what shape would an increasingly confused, and angrier by the second father take?"
"Uh, that would be more of an expression. Like the one you're currently wearing."
"Yeah," Sheriff got up and started to walk away.
"Dad, Dad! I can prove it, okay? She's one of them, a werewolf-"
"Stiles! Stiles! That's enough." Sheriff said before exiting the room.
"Dad, can you please just hold on?!" Stiles asked and Sheriff turned to him. "You ready?" Stiles asked Cora. Cora stood. "Alright, dad just watch this,"
Before Cora could shift, she fainted. We all rushed to her side.
"Call an ambulance." Sheriff ordered.
I stood by Stiles at the nurses station in the hospital, as he talked to Scott on the phone.
"That makes sense. Tara, she wasn't always a cop. She used to teach middle school." Stiles said. "Well, there is dozens of them Scott, and they're all headed home."
Stiles found his dad and we followed close on his heels. I could piece together what was going on.
"What did you see the night at the bank when Scott was trying to save Deaton?" Stiles questioned.
"Nothing." Sheriff said, flat.
"Dad, you saw him healing himself after he tried crossing the mountain ash."
"I don't know what I saw."
"You saw something that you can't explain." I added.
"Kids, I have seen a lot of things I can't explain in this town. That doesn't make them supernatural and it doesn't make them real. They just found another body. That's real. And that's the lead I'm following."
"Dad, another teach is going to die if you don't start listening to me."
"I am listening. I have been listening!" Sheriff yelled. People around us got quiet and started staring.
"You just don't believe." Stiles said, sounding hurt. Sheriff started to walk away. "Mom would have believed me." Stiles added, making his dad pause. Stiles turned and started to walk away. After we turned the corner, I grabbed his arm.
"Stiles," I spoke. He suddenly turned around.
"What?! What, Kat?! Nothing you say can make any of this any better!" He yelled, once again making people around us pause and stare for a moment.
"I wasn't going to say anything." I whispered before pulling Stiles into a hug. It was one of those hugs what freezes time. That melts away any negative feelings and thoughts. Even for a moment.
"We have to get to that recital." I said. I felt Stiles nod.
Stiles and I slipped in through the door to find Scott and Isaac. They acknowledged us. Isaac pulled me into him for a hug. I felt Stiles' eyes on us so I pulled away and watched the recital. I watched Lydia leave through a set of double doors. I got a strange feeling.
"Stiles." I grabbed his hand, despite the sense I got from Isaac. Jealousy. "What? What's wrong?"
"It's Lydia. She's in trouble. I can feel it." I said. Stiles' face fell into terror. I turned to Isaac.
"Stay here. If something happens, find the argents. Protect each other." I kissed him on the cheeks before Stiles pulled me by my hand from the recital.
"Lydia!" I yelled as we ran through the double doors. "Lydia!" Scott and Stiles yelled.
Scott used his heightened senses to look for clues.
"Anything?" Stiles asked. Scott shook his head.
"She's not answering her phone." I said, becoming increasingly worried about my friend.
"What do we do? Scott?" Stiles demanded. Seconds later, I heard this screeching noise, almost like a scream. Scott and I both covered our ears, the sound painful. I got goosebumps as I fell to the ground.
"Scott? Kat? What's wrong?" Stiles panicked.
"It's Lydia. S-She's screaming." I uttered. Scott and I felt the screaming disappear. Scott subdued to his senses. Stiles and I followed him to the room where Lydia was. Lydia was tied up, string around her throat and Ms. Blake had just thrown a knife at Sheriff.
Scott morphed into a werewolf. He pounced at Ms. Blake and started to fight her. Ms. Blake sent Scott flying backward and shoved her desk in front of the door, so Stiles and I couldn't get in. Stiles tried to bust the door open. We heard a gunshot.
I used my mind to move the desk and sent it flying into the wall behind Lydia. By the time Stiles and I got into the room, Sheriff and Ms. Blake were gone.
"Dad?!" Stiles called out.
I feel like I never update.
